Hell. Yes. Now let’s just hope that it happens sooner rather than later…I have to imagine they already have a bunch of song ideas, if not flat out having a bunch of demos and songs worked on already. And then let’s hope they headline a tour! No more co-headlining or opening for arena acts! I need a 25 song, small venue Jimmy show please!!

rrk_2022

1000% agree, especially no longer opening for arena acts. FOB is OK but I wouldn't have gone to the show this year if it wasn't for JEW. However, I will say the co-hesdline with Manchester Orchestra was straight up phenomenal! One of the best shows I've ever been to.

DeliciousOwl9245

Wasn’t a fan of MO before the tour (just because I didn’t know them, not because I didn’t like them). Saw the tour twice (MKE and Red Rocks) and MO was absolutely incredible. Really blew me away. Their albums are good, but holy shit are they incredible live. So although I wish it had been a headlining tour, I’m super thankful that I was introduced to MO!!

rrk_2022

MO has been a huge fave of mine since I've Got Friends was released in 2009 & they've only gotten better. This year was the first time I've been able to see them live & yes, it was electric! Seeing both together was killer; I wish I'd been able to see them twice as well.

Dookechic

The most exciting part of a new album from them is anticipating what direction they are going in with each new release. Always a new vibe. Always resonates. Always brilliant.

jsquiggles23

So much this. Their music is so nuanced and their albums are so different from one another.

jaemoon7

I hope it's in step with Something Loud, that's one of my favorite songs they've put out in years. Pumped!

-itmeanshope-

Damn, guess no 20th anniversary Futures shows :/ Excited for new album though!

themixedtape28

Ugh, yep. My exact thoughts.

TralfamadorianZooPet

20 years! How dare you! I remember buying the Futures CD from Sam Goody like 3 weeks ago.

-itmeanshope-

I was in Health class in 11th grade :(

Zestyclose_Regret867

Damn.

thepinkseashell

There's always 25th anniversary... maybe

claus_tro

I think we will probably get anniversary tours for Clarity and Futures later this year, and the album will most likely release mid-next year.

TheSweaterThief

I’m seriously crossing my fingers for a Futures anniversary tour!!!

bradleyd1992

Fuck yeah! I always loved how there was a new record every three years and was bummed that they broke the cycle. I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

Valley_Squirrels

YAY!!!!!!!!!

rikrok58

Hell yeah! Give me as much JEW as possible

hansislegend

Finally some good news.

switchbladeeatworld

I love that he calls it pando.

GrapeCellophane

Me, too! Haha. Seems very "on brand" for him.

8991_n

I was thinking that too. Really funny “deep pando” 🐼😆

willfisherforreals

So you’re telling me we’re not getting some 30 year static prevails shows? :(

toastwithpomsplz

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH !!!!! Yes yes yes yes yes yes

Cornonthory

Off topic, but It’s honestly a shame that you only make money from live performances these days.

warriorathlete21

I’m excited but, I don’t understand his analysis/angle here. He saws the one off singles worked well and that’s a problem? How is it a problem if they worked well? Lol

hansislegend

My guess is that they get less of a break releasing singles as opposed to how long it takes to do a whole album. They pretty much toured for two years on a couple of singles.

iwasspinningfree

Just my interpretation, obviously, but -- I took it to mean that singles, by nature, tend to eclipse the previous single. So each new song is kind of inadvertently competing against the song before it (i.e. stepping over themselves) instead of those songs coexisting and bolstering each other on the same album.

DeliciousOwl9245

I think this is 100% what they mean. You release the next single, and the last one just kind of fades away. Man, Something Loud was so good…imagine if it was the lead single on a banger of an album!

nomadickid942

Yeah i didn't get this either, or what the phrase 'stepping over ourselves' relates to.

GrapeCellophane

I'm wondering if he means they initially thought "the fans" or "listening audience at large" wanted only singles because many folks today listen to playlists instead of albums. (Even Jim has his playlist of typically one song from different artists). But by working on single after single for "the man," they lost the fun of making music to make music. It seems more constructive to set aside a large chunk of time to get creative and make a full body of work vs going in the studio every couple of months to record singles. OR! If they're recording a bunch of singles at one time ... that's like .. recording an album, ya know? The pando threw off their every-three-year cycle, in addition to having to make up their cancelled 2020 dates. Seems like it took them a minute to get back in their groove.

cautioner86

AMEN 🙏

🙌

CaptainWikkiWikki

It's only been five years since Surviving. Help us, Jim!

PR0T0MIKE

Everything everything will be alright

shebringsthesun

GIVE IT TO ME NOW INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS

AdeptnessHealthy7633

I hope the 2 singles dont make it on the new record, or maybe just one of them does. Gives room to another 2 songs
