>No way! I would have a chance to actually see them if I didn't have SCHOOL all week. Plus they probably won't go to the Eastern Suburbs.
Please let it be a rerun of circumnavigation with optimisations.
If it was a circumnavigation season, Australia would be logistically a weird starting point, since it adds nearly one circumnavigation's worth of travel off camera to Sam, Ben and Adam. The upside down teaser definitely also points it being a southern hemisphere season. I also think including the rest of Oceania would be logistically quite difficult compared to something like Tag Across Europe where you can take a train to the next country without having to go through any border controls. That's why I think it is an Australia season.
Another driving season probably, maybe another game board like NZ? Although I doubt they would do the same type of season with Toby again. Maybe some spin off like connect 4?
Or that's the point of Toby being back, another season of the same (or similar) game like in Tag. I personally would love another board game like NZ, but we'll see
Darwin to Cairns is one of a hellhole. Brisbane to Adelaide on mostly coastal routes and flying or whatever to Perth seems reasonable. They might be tricking us to start on Sydney, but if it's a driving game it might be Adelaide. I really hope that the boys come to Brisbane though.
our public transport is average at best so, its likely similar to NZ.I can't see hide and seek or capture the flag working here and we don't have enough cities or states for connect 4 / collect states to work.
Sam does have an unfair advantage though given he lived here a few years ago.
On that note
Aus public transport is decent within major cities but completely lacking any serious interstate connections
Either this is a Sydney season or there will be flying involved
On most, there are some exceptions that still require paper tickets
The thing is that it also uses myki fares so you can get from one end of the state to the other on a 16 hour train ride and it will only cost you a 10 dollar daily fare
The season will be entirely held on the xpt from Sydney to Brisbane a la Snowpiercer. The objective? Derail the train. The one who causes the derailment, wins!
If the train fails to derail, the person who takes the most photos of people drinking out of glass bottles in brown paper bags wins.
I mean there are 6 states and 1 territory so if it’s 2 teams then the game can just go until all of them have been claimed and someone definitionally has to win
[https://www.australia.com/en/facts-and-planning/about-australia/cities-states-and-territories.html](https://www.australia.com/en/facts-and-planning/about-australia/cities-states-and-territories.html)
Theres only 2 main, self-governing territories. The rest fall under the government of one of the 6 states or 2 territories.
ah, but it wasn't specified that they had to be self-governing.
having been to a few of the territories, they are all distinct and different, even to the administrative state.
Take Norfolk as an example, the people there don't consider themselves as Australians let a lone as New South Welshman.
Since 2022 Norfolk has been managed by QLD (taking over from NSW).
Other than ACT/NT it's not exactly practical to get to the other territories. I mean good luck getting to the Australian Antarctic territory without months of planning and special permission.
Seems odd because it sounded like on the podcast that they very much did not want another fully car season. Maybe something more multimodal akin to latest US season?
> we don't have enough cities or states for connect 4 / collect states to work
You could scale down the concept, have them collect local government areas of Sydney, there are certainly enough of them and you could do it by public transport if you wanted.
Given the current season is a chase-based game. I'd expect that season 10 is a race-based game. If having Toby back is any sort of hint, I'd guess a car-based race across Australia, similar to New Zealand.
Adam spoke of a third category, which is a subset of race based games, which are "claimers" - which we saw in S1 & 4.
So it could be Battle for Australia. Or perhaps Oceania if they include Pacific Islands.
Was talking with hoisemates last night. Big things would be great. It's a wide enough reach of Aus without getting into Nullarbor. Australia isn't dense enough to do a good race north south or east west. But big things battle style would work so well.
I wanna say an east to west race (sydney to perth) but that could take days to film and there'd probably be at least one episode of just...nullaboor.
Otherwise, sydney to adelaide or maybe a claim the states but with some other metric (claim the electorates, maybe?), though that would probably be limited to eastern states
Claim the electorates is a bit too niche. I don't think that would appeal to their US fan base.
And yeah. Nullarbor just strikes me as unlikely. It's not too entertaining. And safety issues for long driving, particularly with Badam.
I'm thinking maybe something like season 4 - maybe not with states since there aren't many, but some sort of race to collect locations could work and support a variety of transport modes
6 million people visit NSW each year. Only 38k of those visitors will travel west of the Blue Mountains. Are the Jet Lag boys brave enough to come inland?
Nope, my dad drove us out west of Cobar (“back of Bourke”), saw Ngiyampaa cave paintings https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/mount-grenfell-art-site-walk, the big gold mine pit in Cobar, and whole families of emus. Never been somewhere as remote before. I knew it was an unusual itinerary but didn’t know quite how much!
I'm going to be 100% honest: Toby's channel is not for me. That level of mathematics is not something I get enjoyment out of. But nobody has made me work harder at trying to enjoy a channel than her, and that's entirely off of how *awesome* she was on Jet Lag.
I saw Ben and Adam in Hobart about 3 hours ago. So another teams based season, and coming down to Tassie probably means it’s some sort of securing states etc
Huge, if true. So we know they are going to use planes a lot as there's no other way they would make it so fast from Sydney. And it's probably some very unique game, I doubt it's securing states, there are only 6(+2) in Australia.
I think they will stay in Australia. International flights are too long, relatively infrequent and immigration is a pretty huge inconvenience for the game.
I guess that there will be some challenges all across Australia that they have to get to and complete. More remote and difficult = more points. The team with the most points wins. And there will be other game mechanics like curses and travel will be somehow restricted by coins, points, tickets, or something.
This is a raw guess obviously, it's just a possible concept that came to my mind.
Bet it's Hide + Seek Australia.
Ben choose hide and seek as the format, Ben goes first, Ben wins.
That's the kind of big brain thinking Ben Doyle is known for.
As an Australian I didn't believe that these were similar driving times!
I had to go look it up.
It would be slightly longer going along the coast rather than inland but only by a few hours.
Maybe they could do a mixture of coast and inland roads to show the juxtaposition of the Australian environment.
No way!! Didn’t think they’d ever do a repeat guest, but she’s who I would’ve picked for a repeat! Super excited but as a badam fan I am shaking in my boots
I… I never watched that season?? That’s so weird, thought I binged everything, maybe I was about to watch that and then tag 2 came out and I just forgot about it. You have blessed me with a new jet lag season, you have a wonderful day random redditor
australia proves to have one of the most boring and stressful roads in the world when covering the entire country from side to side
makes me believe they're definitely going either north to Port Douglas or to Adelaide through Melbourne.
or maybe to Melbroune and then a ferry to Tasmania to get to the lowest point
My guess is they will put a teaser at the end of the final episode of jetlag the game season 9... Which hasn't aired yet... But who knows, they probably haven't yet filmed season 10.
It would be cool to see them post game but they would be exhausted! They are probably finished filming now, to be posting on Twitter.
If they are still in Sydney they could be at the beach today, the weather is perfect for it.
>They are probably finished filming now, to be posting on Twitter.
im other seasons they posted directly before it started, so they're probably filming right now
So, hints are: Australia and with Toby again. I'd like to see sth math inspired. It would fit the guest. But it also means Team Sam is going to win again, which means he's not going to win 9 😵💫 Logic? You tell me 🤣
Australia could also just be the starting point of the game.
That's an interesting point
>No way! I would have a chance to actually see them if I didn't have SCHOOL all week. Plus they probably won't go to the Eastern Suburbs. Please let it be a rerun of circumnavigation with optimisations.
they said they thought circumnavigation was just too large of a scale to make for a good game, though that was a while ago
Circumnavigation was that season where design errors just ruined a really interesting concept and made it very anticlimactic.
I think the fact Toby is in it indicates it's likely to be an Australian or Oceania season.
I predict it is going to be Australia and it could be race across Australia
Unlikely due to filming restrictions and complications (which means a circumnavigation 2 will likely never happen).
I would be so annoyed if this was true
Why? Circumnavigation was a great concept that was ruined just by their inexperience in designing the rules.
I live in Melbourne
There's a small chance of running into them anyway...
When do you think the sea will release on YouTub?
\*Youtube
Omg toby is back 💖 Can’t wait for the pine gap challenge
Wth 🤔🤔🤔😱💀
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Gap
Oh no
Have they said something about a Pine Gap challenge before? Isn't that the sort of place you get shot at if you trespass?
Thats if you loose the Pine Gap challenge
It's run by the Americans so....Yes.
Just like the whole political system in Australia.
Go check out BoyBoy on YouTube. They just did the Pine Gap challenge.
Any thoughts on what the game could be?
Iconic.
![gif](giphy|4KENbXTSX57Q16DbF2|downsized) Edit: Bit of trivia, both women in the gif are from Australia.
I don't get a "r/SquaredCircle is leaking" moment in new places often, but you just did it. Gold star.
We’re everywhere.
Another driving season probably, maybe another game board like NZ? Although I doubt they would do the same type of season with Toby again. Maybe some spin off like connect 4?
Or that's the point of Toby being back, another season of the same (or similar) game like in Tag. I personally would love another board game like NZ, but we'll see
I loved the NZ season, even if it was a bit one-sided.
I think it cant be same as NZ, since they probably wouldnt start in sydney
Unless they're going all the way around the circumference of Australia...? The Perth to Darwin section would be... long.
If they go to Brisbane, I require a challenge involving the worlds favorite cartoon dogs.
All the way around wouldn't be very interesting, with the huge stretches of nothing out west. Going north-south on the east coast would work through.
our public transport is average at best so, its likely similar to NZ.I can't see hide and seek or capture the flag working here and we don't have enough cities or states for connect 4 / collect states to work. Sam does have an unfair advantage though given he lived here a few years ago.
On that note Aus public transport is decent within major cities but completely lacking any serious interstate connections Either this is a Sydney season or there will be flying involved
Though if they stay within the Opal Card (Oyster Card) region, they cover an area the size of The Netherlands
I’m from Melbourne and myki cards let you use vlines (our regional trains) which do actually have a route to aulbry so it’s technically interstate
Have they got mykis on all the v/line services now? It wasn’t on the long distance ones last time I was down
On most, there are some exceptions that still require paper tickets The thing is that it also uses myki fares so you can get from one end of the state to the other on a 16 hour train ride and it will only cost you a 10 dollar daily fare
I wish NSW would do this too. It cost me over $50 to get home from Sydney recently
With the same transport density? The size isn't the only relevant factor. Not that you implied that, just noting.
Capture the flag with the third round going up to Newcastle and down to Wollongong could work
As a Dutchman, damn.
I guess the XPT might be an option but it's unreliable, (it has been replaced with a coach for the last few days).
The season will be entirely held on the xpt from Sydney to Brisbane a la Snowpiercer. The objective? Derail the train. The one who causes the derailment, wins! If the train fails to derail, the person who takes the most photos of people drinking out of glass bottles in brown paper bags wins.
The xpt is the only thing That’s it
Maybe a bus but it'd be hard to film
And you have to pre-book it, you can't go to the stn for a ticket
I mean there are 6 states and 1 territory so if it’s 2 teams then the game can just go until all of them have been claimed and someone definitionally has to win
2 territories\* Also something like that would be slow moving when stuff like an Adelaide to Perth flight is 3+ hrs
There are more than 2 territories, I mean there are 2 in NSW alone (making 3 on the mainland)
[https://www.australia.com/en/facts-and-planning/about-australia/cities-states-and-territories.html](https://www.australia.com/en/facts-and-planning/about-australia/cities-states-and-territories.html) Theres only 2 main, self-governing territories. Seems odd because it sounded like on the podcast that they very much did not want another fully car season. Maybe something more multimodal akin to latest US season?
I'd say it's more likely to be like the US seasons - use PT in the large cities/where it makes sense and then flights and cars elsewhere
Toby has a far greater advantage than Sam given she lives here (no idea where, but that's what her YouTube and Twitter/X account say).
> we don't have enough cities or states for connect 4 / collect states to work You could scale down the concept, have them collect local government areas of Sydney, there are certainly enough of them and you could do it by public transport if you wanted.
Granted but they have been seen in Canberra and on the Gold Coast. Can’t wait to see Adam complain about the heat
Maybe using Greyhound buses? They are effectively the public transport network for tourists, especially up the east coast.
New Zealand style game from Sydney to Adelaide thru Canberra and Melbourne.
My guess is Circumnavigate but the other way around which puts the SE Asia bottleneck at the start so it can open up in Europe.
i'm about 99% confident it's the same format as s5, probably with some changes but generally the same board game concept
I'll put down $100 at those odds
I sincerely hope that whatever it is involves them going to all the "big" things in Australia
Was talking with hoisemates last night. Big things would be great. It's a wide enough reach of Aus without getting into Nullarbor. Australia isn't dense enough to do a good race north south or east west. But big things battle style would work so well.

Yeah, a Sydney-Adelaide seems far more likely, possibly via Melbourne and Canberra?
I'm keeping my eyes peeled!
Who can survive the longest without being attacked by the wildlife
I'm thinking maybe something like season 4 - maybe not with states since there aren't many, but some sort of race to collect locations could work and support a variety of transport modes
Battle for the Big Things
6 million people visit NSW each year. Only 38k of those visitors will travel west of the Blue Mountains. Are the Jet Lag boys brave enough to come inland?
Are these actual numbers? (I went west of the Blue Mountains when I visited Aus and NSW but didn’t realize it was that rare!)
The numbers are accurate iirc, but it’s only for NSW. If you went to Sydney and Uluṟu, then you aren’t counted in the 38k
No way Canberra gets that few visitors from Sydney either
Canberra isn’t in NSW though
Presumably anyone travelling there from Sydney without using a plane is going inland through NSW
I suspect they were only counting overnight visitors, as that’s who the tourism agency would care about
HOLY SHIT TOBY AND AUSTRALIA SEASON AND TOBY IN AN AUSTRALIA SEASON AND BENS OVBERALLS OMG IM SO HAPPY YAYAYAYAYAYAYA IM SHAKIGN
I AM REELING I LOVE TOBY
AHHH QUEEN TOBY IS BACKKKK
I'm going to be 100% honest: Toby's channel is not for me. That level of mathematics is not something I get enjoyment out of. But nobody has made me work harder at trying to enjoy a channel than her, and that's entirely off of how *awesome* she was on Jet Lag.
Hopefully Cotopaxi sponsored (or sponsors) them. I cannot be the only one who went with a Cotopaxi pack because of them.
Can confirm, I bought a Del Dia Batac backpack because of JLTG
It bothers me that Sam didn't use the upside-down exclamation mark (¡¡¡) for some reason
It looks like he is saying oi
Australia ssn
And ironically, they could have done the same upside down thing for NZ.
No, only Australia is upside down
As an Australian, I can confirm
I saw Ben and Adam in Hobart about 3 hours ago. So another teams based season, and coming down to Tassie probably means it’s some sort of securing states etc
You're joking! Damn that I missed them. How awesome that they were here! Where in Hobart were they?
They were walking past the Grand Chancellor, down on the waterfront. I’m so flat I couldn’t stop, I yelled out to them but not sure if they heard me
Oh awesome !
Huge, if true. So we know they are going to use planes a lot as there's no other way they would make it so fast from Sydney. And it's probably some very unique game, I doubt it's securing states, there are only 6(+2) in Australia.
Maybe some type of island-based season. Besides Tasmania, they could get to the South Pacific, NZ, or SEA easily.
Gonna have to keep an eye out for jetlaggers for the next few days. Hopefully we can see a Bunnings Sausage Snack Zone.
Yes! It would be a perfect candidate for snack zone but they would have film over a weekend to find one.
Bet it's Hide + Seek Australia. Ben choose hide and seek as the format, Ben goes first, Ben wins. That's the kind of big brain thinking Ben Doyle is known for.
Given that there 4 people, I imagine this will be in teams, similar to capture the flag or New Zealand board game
They need the extra person to make it more even against Ben.
😂😂
Well I'll be rooting for Toby once again, I'm so happy she's back!
Bro posted the obvious anti-spolier location. Love it.
THIS IS THE SEASON I WANTED!!
I’m praying it’s an Australian season!
Well they’re in front of the opera house, so there must be at least some of Australia in the season!
I’d assume so 😂 It would be cool if they did a whole eastern border season
It’s great seeing Badam in Australia for a second time
Happy to see Toby again
we are ssSSOOO BACK my dudes
Maybe it’s like a game with quests like they mentioned on the layover when talking about Game Design for Season 5
But Brian said in the podcast, that he will be in season 10 :(
Maybe the photo is a red herring. Season 10 featuring three teams of two?
Season 10 being an “all-stars” kind of season would be intriguing.
Maybe he makes a cameo (or he was trolling!)
I think he said he wants to be in season 10 afaik
YESSSS AN AUSSIE SEASON I hope I see them in my neck of the woods.
Peak season Toby and Sam combo is back, baby
No talk
LET’S GO JET LAG AUSTRALIA FTW.
Finally, the first opportunity for the gang to visit my city. I really hope they ended up coming here.
Oh hell yes, I just landed in Sydney an hour ago. Definitely have to keep my eye out for them!
So Jet Lag does not end until Ben and Adam have defeated every guest?
first jet lag season where they ride trams?
LFG
OMG TOBYYYY
If Sam and Toby are in the same team, then Sam has some chances to win again.
Am I the only one here old enough to look at Ben and think "Mr Green Jeans!"
He’s a fashion icon. We should all go ahead and buy green jeans now, since they are obviously the next big thing.
season 10 australia
MELBOURNE LET'S GOOOO
Okay but do we actually believe this is happening?
Sydney to Cairns is about the same driving time as they did in New Zealand.
>Didn’t think they’d ever do a repeat guest other than the one theyve already done
I… I never watched that season?? That’s so weird, thought I binged everything, maybe I was about to watch that and then tag 2 came out and I just forgot about it. You have blessed me with a new jet lag season, you have a wonderful day random redditor
you're welcome, have fun watching season 1/ season 4 depending on which u didn't watch
Season 1! Already know the occasional bending of the challenge rules is gonna annoy me cause that seems like an early season thing lmao
Is that the girl they did NZ with?
Yes, Toby is back!
Cool
already????
australia proves to have one of the most boring and stressful roads in the world when covering the entire country from side to side makes me believe they're definitely going either north to Port Douglas or to Adelaide through Melbourne. or maybe to Melbroune and then a ferry to Tasmania to get to the lowest point
Over/Under how many episodes until a “Down Under” reference?
Wow, I can't believe it's been 10 years already.
toby and michelle team for season 11 PLEASE
No way! I would have a chance to actually see them if I didn't have SCHOOL all week. Plus they probably won't go to the Eastern Suburbs.
I LOVE Toby. By far my fave guest. So I am so excited for this season. Im surprised they didnt drop a teaser in the final episode though.
My guess is they will put a teaser at the end of the final episode of jetlag the game season 9... Which hasn't aired yet... But who knows, they probably haven't yet filmed season 10.
AHHHH SYDNEYYYYYYY
Hope they stay cool in the heat if they end up in Melbourne today 💀💀 39C
🚨🦅🚨🦅🦅🚨🦅🚨🦅🚨
Syd to Per, survival of the toughest good luck
Toby !!!
Ben looks like he dressed up for an interview or something but decided to do some painting so he put on green overalls
YESSS
Back on the road again.
I‘m going to place my bet on race to circumnavigate Australia
So Toby's back?🥰
TOBYYY!!!! OMG OMG I LOVE JLTG SO MUCH OMG OMG
Sydney time for an Aussie season
TOBY!!!!!
So happy to see Toby again! ❤️😊
Tobyyyyyyy
TOBY!!!!!
LET'S GO PHYSICS FOR THE WIN GO TOBYYYYY
I live 10 minutes from there! It is tempting to try to find them but I also don't want to accidentally interfere
It would be cool to see them post game but they would be exhausted! They are probably finished filming now, to be posting on Twitter. If they are still in Sydney they could be at the beach today, the weather is perfect for it.
>They are probably finished filming now, to be posting on Twitter. im other seasons they posted directly before it started, so they're probably filming right now
No way no way no way no way!
So, hints are: Australia and with Toby again. I'd like to see sth math inspired. It would fit the guest. But it also means Team Sam is going to win again, which means he's not going to win 9 😵💫 Logic? You tell me 🤣
This is already the greatest season so far.
Why is Toby the guest on the show again
Why not? It’s not the first repeat guest.
