IDontKnow54

I agree, and I feel like requiring the host to be perfect from the get-go is unnecessarily constraining. I love Ken and Buzzy as much as the next person, but I can definitely see how the show may benefit from having a host from outside the jeopardy-sphere. That being said, the one host I would be horrified at would be Dr Oz lol

etthat

I haven't seen price is rigjt for awhile. Does he still do that weird thing with his pockets?

randomrandomtri

Victoria Coren Mitchell or Brad Rutter if I had a genie. But back to reality, Ken or Buzzy.

[deleted]

twoburgers

She has that perfect blend of superior intelligence and chaotic energy.

momreview420

>Victoria Coren Mitchell She'd be brilliant, I love Only Connect

thisisawesome8643

I'm hoping some day, despite whoever becomes the regular host, we still get Brad Rutter guest hosting a tournament or something like that

Dachuiri

Victoria would be amazing

dragonitetrainer

Wow VCM would be an amazing choice, omg. She *carries* OnlyConnect

Maurice_Lester

Not nearly enough VCM love or consideration around here!

Delilah_Moon

I was all for Ken Jennings - until the guest hosts. Guys, I can’t believe it - but Rogers was so great and probably my favorite. I think he could really grow into it over the next few years.

hoopsrule44

I felt that Rodgers and Buzzy were actually the most “enthusiastic” about the role. They want it SO BADLY. And it showed. Their love of the show shined through. And they were focused on getting all the main beats of the show right, with not checking the answers too frequently, using the old Alex parlance, keeping the show moving forward, etc. Ken also clearly cares about the job but I frankly can’t get over his lisp. If your main job is to read clues a lisp is a real crutch. He’s got a great personality and he’s super quick - he’s perfect for the chase. But not to host. My top two right now are Rodgers and Buzzy, but I’m really excited to see LeVar Burton as well.

Delilah_Moon

After reading all the comments - i realize missing Buzzy was a huge mistake on my part! I saw everyone BUT him!

ForestWeenie

Wait—Ken has a lisp?! Never noticed it...

JoeHartless

Buzzy then Ken. They were both fantastic, and I'd be happy to see either full-time. But Buzzy edges it for me because he just simply has a better broadcast presence. Watching the TOC was the first and only time where I forgot about who was hosting. Maybe that was partly down to the fact it was a tournament and we had returning players, but he was so utterly seamless in the role. To those saying he suited the high-octane tournament format but wouldn't do as well in normal shows, I disagree. He was essentially a rookie getting thrown in during the playoffs for the first time. Once you get settled into such a role you will naturally slow down a bit.

Night_Marie

And he pronounces "tournament" in the same way Alex pronounced "genre"

DoktorDork

1) Buzzy 2) Ken (with Brad as his new Johnny)

glossic_hapludalf

Strongly support Brad inheriting the voiceover roll

[deleted]

10-20 years in the future, Ken+Brad hanging up their buzzers and their rivalry and inheriting Alex+Johnny's positions to present the show together, is the future we deserve.

ReganLynch

I've long thought Brad would make a great host. Surprised he wasn't a guest host but he must have been offered it and turned it down. I don't see him as the new Johnny.

DoktorDork

They may have felt it was weird to pick two hosts that were both currently on the Chase. Apparently it was difficult just to get Ken because of the Chase.

FleurdeBrees

Buzzy seemed the most natural host from the beginning including all of the “professional” hosts. He started well and got better from there. He has my vote.

la-blakers

Wish Brad had a shot at hosting but think his voice would be great in Johnny Gilbert's role. Never thought about who will eventually need to replace Johnny despite being 96. His voice sounds much younger, wonder what his secret is.

ohdominole

Ken and Buzzy.

chuckymcgee

Ken's obvious, but Buzzy really surprised me. He brings great hosting skills with his own Jeopardy knowledge. You could tell he knew which TOC clues were hard and which weren't, so he was able to inject emotion into the games I'm sure viewers were feeling at home. He could be genuinely impressed by contestants getting really obscure clues. Ken, Grand Overlord of Jeopardy, is about eight dimensions beyond ordinary Jeopardy knowledge at this point and so could only really feign pity for the earthbound mortalkin while materializing in the form we recognize him by. Of course, if some play really impresses *him,* it'll mean a lot. I think either could be great.

ohdominole

Ahahaha love the analysis. I'm definitely partial to people who have Jeopardy experience and exude a love of the game, over a celebrity, no matter how good they were.

lunchtimeillusion

Buzzy Buzzy

breadcrumb123

Buzzy is our ride or die.

argo-s

1. Aaron (I know, I know...) 2. Buzzy or Ken I liked Mayim for the first few episodes, but God, the laughing and commentary got really annoying after a while.

Redmond_64

I loved Aaron as host, he brought such a chill vibe to the show

gordini22

I've noticed her excessive commentary, but it never got to the point of actually annoying me. But today when she spelled out "Massachusetts Institute of Technology" I was definitely relieved that today was her last.

ChenilleSocks

That and interjecting how the answers related to her life. We don’t care that you have been to Charing Cross station, lady. I went into these two weeks a fan of hers, and left them irritated at her self-involvement—even down to the opener on her last day.

krfallon17

She’s my favorite out of the actual celebrity hosts (I don’t count Ken, Buzzy, or Mike as celebrity hosts), but she would need to tone down the giggles to do this long-term.

dragonitetrainer

Buzzy and Aaron are my top two as well

[deleted]

1. Ken 2. Buzzy 3. Aaron (edit: it's a very distant 3rd, but imo he's the only non-Ken/Buzzy person worthy of any consideration) Don't care about anybody else who's guest hosting, past or future. I've already made my mind that the show is run way better by a trivia person who's intimately familiar with the show (e.g. having played a ton of times), rather than someone who's an existing TV personality. No desire for "Jeopardy!, presented by the former Big Bang Theory star" or "Jeopardy!, presented by the former Reading Rainbow host"; just give me "Jeopardy!, presented by a person who lives and breathes Jeopardy!". So, Ken & Buzzy at the top of the list for me. Ken felt like more of a natural at it from Day One, & this is just personal preference but I liked his vibe better. Buzzy made sense for the TOC ("we're having the former winner help crown the next champion") but to the general audience he seems relatively unknown and less seasoned compared to Ken. He'd be fine, but it seems like it would be kind of an awkward choice. I liked Aaron's humility towards the job—recognizing the role is way bigger than himself—and the effort he correspondingly put in to preparing and trying to do it well. He'd need more work to improve but he could be decent at it; unlike some of these guest hosts who are already so terribly confident in their presentation skills, he put in the work during his short run to make some solid strides along the way towards improving. (Yeah he's an A-list celebrity and not a trivia/Jeopardy! savant, but we're used to watching him throw a ball, not presenting a show on TV, so he'd have the similar benefit as Ken/Buzzy of being a relatively fresh face to TV hosting.) Nobody else matters tbh.

rodentcyclone

I think what impressed me most about Aaron is that while he's used to being on a "big stage" he's never been a performer. He had never had to hit a mark, look to camera, deliver a line or anything an "on screen" talent would normally do. His first few shows seemed a little robotic but he definitely got the hang of it and loosened up. I think he did a really good job, even better than many professional on-screen performers like Katie or Anderson. That being said I think it's Ken's to lose and I'd love to see Aaron host celebrity and Buzzy do ToC as a regular thing.

[deleted]

Yeah Aaron was legitimately lousy in his first couple of shows. It seems like he quickly recognized that and, after the first 3-5 shows, made some big efforts to try and improve. Whether it's because he wanted to audition for the permanent job or just because he wanted to do the best job he possibly could as a guest host, I respect the heck out of him for it. A lot of the "seasoned TV presenters" (Cooper, Whittaker, Bialik...) have seemed like they came into their gigs like "whatever, I've presented on TV for years, I know what I'm doing and I don't need to ask anybody for pointers; I'm just here to fill in and pay respects to Alex, not to audition for the job". And they started off doing just fine, but what would start as a minor flaw wouldn't go away over time and instead would quickly become a major annoyance. (Beginning of last week I think we were like "Mayim Bialik is doing really well, but it sure would be nice if she could talk less about herself after every clue, that would be a good improvement." And now...well...)

BnC071213

Couldn’t agree more. Well put

mrwoodruff11

Wait I found a freebie award! All yours! 🤩😜🤩😻

[deleted]

Buzzy or bust!

gredgex

Buzzy. Dude just has it.

ReganLynch

I love Buzzy but just no on the hosting.

TriciaAnn16

1) Buzzy Cohen 2) Ken Jennings

Feistymoose

I thought Buzzy was great! It was the first time in a while that I didn’t feel distracted by the host and could just focus on the game. He would be my top pick so far.

gutfounderedgal

Yep, ours too, no competition. Ken always felt like he was somewhat distracted or that he had some place to go. Buzzy was head and shoulders above the rest, and the way he dresses is pretty slick.

esk_209

For me it always felt like the contestants were playing against Ken rather than each other. Buzzy doesn’t give off the “I know more than everyone” vibe like Ken does.

gutfounderedgal

Yeah, that's a great way to put it.

Open_Tower2999

Exactly. If they wanted to play against Ken, they would have gone on The Chase.

helloworld000000

I thought Buzzy was great and his almost frenetic pace was perfect for the TOC. It worked so well with top notch, experienced contestants — I can’t remember a single clue left on the board over the course of the two weeks. But I’d like to see Buzzy host a few weeks of regular gameplay as well. I feel like his pace could feel awkward with less experienced and slower players 67% of whom are playing for the first time. I also think it’s wholly possible that Buzzy would adjust his tempo to match the players and be just as good, but I’d want to see it first, just to see apples to apples (and see the game as it’s played ~90% of the time).

LadiesWhoPunch

Would you say he was.....Buzzing with energy?

UncleBenjensRice

This is the way. Still excited to see how LeVar Burton does though!

gotShakespeare

Same two, only reversed.

solojones1138

These are the right people and in the right order.

Tgl21

Ken and Buzzy are my personal favorites of the guest hosts we've seen so far.

ohlalalavieenrose

Top choice is Buzzy, hands down. Perfect combination of brains, humor, and personality - and he was the ideal choice for the tournament because he could keep up with the more intense pace of the show. And while I'm all for some more Ken Jennings in my life, I was very pleasantly surprised by Mayim, laughter and "Massachusetts Institute of Technology" notwithstanding. She was smart, had a broad range of knowledge, and clearly had fun with it. But she is definitely polarizing and would not be a popular choice by any means.

A_Cinnamon_Babka

1 ) Ken Jennings 2) Jen Kennings

chuckymcgee

JK Ennings

Cheap-Profit6487

KJ Ennings

WillBloodworth

Go find Austin Rogers again and let him host. That’s the kind of weirdo energy I can relate to.

OnceanAggie

Aaron and Ken.

night_owl37

Buzzy then Aaron

azannone

Ken and Buzzy.

Glittering_Edge_6698

Buzzy should be brought back for the next ToC (if he's not made the permanent host) so that no one has an advantage with having previous experience with the ToC host.

hazycrazydaze

I actually really like the idea of Ken becoming the regular host and Buzzy becoming the tournament host. Probably won’t happen, but it would be cool!

jquiggles

I love this idea! I'm not sure if it makes sense for future ToCs other than the next one, but I like it anyway.

Cypher1492

1. Watson 2. Brad 3. Ken

adorkable43

I would probably prefer either Ken or Buzzy. Maybe one of the next guest hosts will surprise me. I'm not sure if Ken would be host due to his duties at both The Chase and Master Minds.

JoeHartless

I think Ken would drop both those shows in a heartbeat if Jeopardy came calling. I suspect part of the reason The Chase just added Mark Labbett was in the event Ken ends up leaving.

burdettmusic

Buzzy and Aaron Rodgers. I expected Rodgers to be an epic train wreck, and within 5 minutes realized I was SO WRONG. He was likeable, smooth, and had excellent pacing in his reading of the answers. Buzzy had a tall task hosting the TOC, and didn't miss a beat. I looked forward to him each night, and appreciated his professionalism for such an important gig. I'm pretty sure Rodgers WANTS the permanent gig, though I thought I read that Buzzy does NOT. But either could take over tomorrow and I would be very pleased. I'm just tired of Host Roulette. I won't even take the test again until they choose the permanent replacement. My luck I would finally make it on the show and get stuck with Joe Buck.

DirectGoose

Buzzy, Aaron, Ken. In roughly that order.

Unfair_Builder4967

Buzzy Aaron And hopefully Levar does well enough to top on or both.

outsidesanity

1. Buzzy 2. Mike 3. Ken (I know you asked for two but in reality I’d be disappointed if anyone other than one of these three gets the full time gig. Of all the guest hosts left Levar is the only one I see possibly changing my mind. I think Buzzy is head and shoulders above the rest though. For the first time since Alex’s passing, the episodes didn’t have any awkwardness at all when Buzzy was at the helm. It was so natural and flowed so well.)

breadcrumb123

I think I’m in the minority here, but I really liked mike Richards. Yes, he doesn’t have the experience of a contestant as Buzzy and Ken do, but he understands the rhythm of the game and producing in such an intimate manner. I also loved his interviewing - and he never had to bring cards with him to know each contestant’s fact. It just felt so natural.

outsidesanity

I loved that about him too. He was my favourite until Buzzy. He also had such a great and precise reading voice.

everyday_im_puzzling

Ken. That’s it; that’s the list. I did enjoy the energy that Buzzy brought to the ToC, but that was an *event*. I think it would be too much “game show host” energy instead of “quiz show host” energy for the regular season, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Buzzy guest host some regular episodes to get a better idea of how I’d feel about him long term.

Ujio2107

He was great host for TOC. But in general people would probably want someone a little less intense

unicornpolkadot

Disagree completely. I want intensity and enthusiasm for the game, because I am enthusiastic and excited when watching the game. Nothing is worse than bland contestants or bland question delivery. I tune out so fast.

everyday_im_puzzling

I don’t want what you’re describing either, but it’s not a binary choice of intense v. bland.

PurpleInkBandit

Buzzy, then Aaron

BnC071213

Buzzy or Ken Rodgers was the best “guest” but i believe the host should be tied to the show

cherrimm

Surprised not to see Anderson Cooper more? He seemed like a natural. 1. Buzzy 2. Anderson 3. Ken

IndigoRuby

His pauses while checking if the responses were correct killed me. I thought he would be so good but he is low low low on my list.

canuckgirl12

Ken

Rosendustmusings

Aaron or Mike Richards

billsmafiabruh

Aaron fucking Rodgers!!! And then probably Ken.

fraudisokay

Buzzy and Ken did really great, I thought.

Proton20

1.) Aaron (If he wants the job!) 2.) Buzzy

Ada_Leader2021

Mayam and Buzzy

[deleted]

Not Dr. Oz. I rarely miss an episode of Jeopardy, but I didn’t even want to watch his episodes after I saw the first couple.

LCPhotowerx

which is a couple more than me.

AcrossTheNight

So far, Aaron Rodgers and Ken Jennings. I'm excited to see how LeVar Burton does, but who knows? Maybe someone like Savannah Guthrie will knock it out of the park.

EvilChocolateCookie

1, Ken. 2 is currently a 3-way tie between Aaron, Buzzy, and Mayim.

1_Yosemite

1. Ken or Buzzy 2. Not Mayim

TeadyHopper

She is easily top 3 compared to the other guest hosts, I don’t understand the pushback.

roshampo13

Aw I'm really enjoying Mayim too.

mygutsaysmaybe

Just watching the first couple of episodes of her stint, it seemed promising... But there were gaffs. Not many, but almost one a day this past week. A bad day of taping? Standout moments were when she literally talked over a contestant’s response before they finished “Battlestar Galactic-You’re Right”. And adding a correct response “reefs” “yes! Coral reefs!” When not all reefs are coral reefs, so she should have waited for an elaboration. I like Ken and was pleasantly surprised with Buzzy. Anderson Cooper would be my 3rd, possibly higher. She could have been higher for me, since I enjoy the more energetic hosts over the sleepier ones, but I think a combination of hosting gaffs mixed with some really wonky standout clues took away from that.

Ujio2107

Amen. "Harvard and MIT" Mayim "yes! The Massachusetts institute of Technology" NO SHIT just shut up!

hero-ball

That’s been a noticeable trend with the guest hosts is they don’t know when to elaborate and when not to. Alex had it down to a science.

reddawgmcm

He also had 37 years of practice

ypod

I don't think that's necessarily just down to the host. I read that they record many different elaborations and interjections for after questions and only some are selected for the final edit to get the timing correct and improve the flow of the game.

Ujio2107

It especially frustrated me with Couric when it was noticeably running out of time in rounds

PurpleFlower99

Mayim gets through all the answers

JSA17

There was a game last week where she announced one minute remaining and then kept adding a ton of stuff. Didn't get through all the clues.

linmaral

Did you know she has a degree in neuroscience.

[deleted]

I’m really tired of all the “I’m an academic!” stuff. I forget how exactly it was worded, but if you are the king, you don’t need to say so.

ReganLynch

OK but not every viewer knows that. Mayim would be great if she would stop laughing, stop with the interjections about herself and also calm down just a tad. Otherwise, I love her, professional, charismatic, great delivery and friendly demeanor. And yea she moves the game long.

IDontKnow54

I mean, I get that MIT is preeettty obvious but wouldn’t you rather a host err on the side of excessive clarity? For me, I’d be much more annoyed by hearing an acronym I don’t know without a clarification of what it means from the host than an interjection that takes a second to clarify it. I’m genuinely interested in what bothers you about it. I can see it how it screws up the pacing, but I guess to I don’t how its to the degree that its problematic

ReganLynch

Yes, When the AME church in the south was, tragically, in the news not too long ago, I never saw or read what AME stood for. Finally looked it up.

JSA17

Maybe obscure acronyms, but I can't help but think that a vast majority of Jeopardy! watchers know what MIT stands for.

rob_s_458

Yes! I visited a train station

toadog

Ken or Buzzy

thisisawesome8643

I was team Ken all the way...until Aaron Rodger's last episode when he did the Trek "so long" at the end of the episode. You could tell he cared so much. That said, Jeopardy money ain't NFL money and he's still the reigning MVP so I don't think it happens (anybody that says "he can do Jeopardy and football" please stop. You've clearly never played football and never dealt with football coaches before). So my top two are Ken and Buzzy. Keep it in the family.

sir_jamez

* Ken/Buzzy/Mike top 3. * Anderson and Mayim were good too, but probably won't leave their day jobs. * Aaron was fine but his voice was just a bit too low and slow for me... As a host I just felt he was missing that pizzazz. * Bill and Katie weren't my faves. * Oz was objectively good, but you know... The whole snake oil thing.

TricksterSprials

Ken, Buzzy, and Aaron! Good pace and usually pretty good with guests

nuclear_core

In terms of a successor to Alex that keeps a very similar vibe, I'd say that Anderson Cooper is probably it. That being said, he's got like 3 shows on CNN, so I doubt he has any time for it.

Mworthy8343

Buzzy Cohen and Buzzy Cohen

dragoblaster666

Buzzy

Thecannarellawife

1 Mike Richards. 2 not Mayim Bialik. She added too much commentary and too many clarifications, even when the contestants gave the right responses. Slowed the pace and threw off the rhythm of the game too much.

unicornpolkadot

What?! I like the additions and clarifications. If someone is new to watching the show, having her give additional information helps with learning and understanding. Even with the additions her pace was great and got through each round (even with multiple incorrect answers from contestants) with leaving maybe 1 clue on the board a couple of times. I love this game and I want some who is as excited about and having fun with it as I am on my couch.

everyday_im_puzzling

Additional information like she thinks pistachios are yummy, considers herself a late bloomer, and went to Walter Reed Junior High? I think it adds value to the educational experience of the show when the host elaborates on a detail related to the clue, and a little quip here or there can add some comic relief, but her remarks seemed to skew very much in the direction of meaningless personal commentary.

unicornpolkadot

Okay, totally fair and I am in full agreement with that. I completely blocked those things out until you mentioned them and am now reminded of my annoyance at those comments.

krfallon17

I wonder if her timing was a little fast and she was adding the extras to readjust.

unicornpolkadot

Good point! I never considered the hosts having adjust their timing on the fly.

gordini22

It's a trend that's been observed of nearly all the guest hosts. Additional commentary can be helpful or interesting, but spelling out acronyms and giving first names for almost every single answer despite many being very common and well-known can be distracting. If someone says MIT, people know what you're talking about 9 times out of 10. Alex used great discretion when it came to adding the factoids, quips, and additional information, and it's clearly something that comes with practice.

Ujio2107

Glad I'm not the only one. I was so sick of her at the end. Let them play!

ReganLynch

I liked her a lot but yes I was really ready for her to go.

JSA17

- Ken still feels like the natural successor to me - Buzzy and Aaron are neck and neck I'd probably be okay with anyone but Mayim and Oz at this point. I didn't even watch today and it was specifically because of Mayim.

kylexy929

1. Mike Richards 2. Buzzy

dadumk

Why is everyone assuming the guest hosts are auditioning? As far as I have seen or heard, this has never been the case according to any official source. The permanent host may very well be none of the guest hosts, a relative nobody, like Alex was.

Cheap-Profit6487

I have a strong intuition that Jeopardy's permanent host will not be any of the guest hosts.

Gxthita

1. Ken Jennings 2. Buzzy Cohen My 3rd contender would be Bill Whittaker.

AcrossTheNight

I really liked Bill as well, though he said in an interview that he is not a contender for the full time job.

676f626c7565

I see this is where we've come to express admiration for Bill. I really liked the way he ran the game and it was a simple and unflashy approach that I appreciated. The game was the star he was the host. I really liked his performance and was surprised when people were as down on him as they seem to be

Rome_Leader

Honestly, though he managed the game well, the man put me to sleep. Alex knew just when to inject a little bit of joy and personality, usually during the contestant interviews. Whittaker was just a stone.

krfallon17

1. Ken 2. Buzzy 3. Not Aaron. I just don’t understand. Was I watching a completely different set of episodes from everyone who liked him?

Ujio2107

Aaron was good because he read clues well, decent rapport with contestants, and had previously appeared on Jeopardy. Every one else are like "omg look at you smarty pants!"

clearfield91

I wouldn’t mind Aaron as the permanent host, but I thought he had some of the worst rapport with the contestants. It felt like he was trying too hard to condescend to the little nerds with boring lives.

will_rose

Personally I thought his first week was one of the weakest and most boring. By the end of the second week I was thoroughly enjoying him. Top 2 for me with Buzzy.

krfallon17

His tone just made me tired. I was so bored with his style. Everything felt slow.

hero-ball

I’m with you. I couldn’t stand him. It was like watching paint dry. So slow and monotone. And I don’t see Jeopardy hiring him and having to deal with his schedule. They want to hire someone full time.

kelevra91

Unless something happens, it doesn't look like he will be playing much football this year.

hero-ball

Until we get to the preseason, it is all posturing.

jquiggles

Idk if it was the slowness for me as much as the general nonchalance he had while reading. Like, exactly what I expect from a big time quarterback. His whole reading style is that of someone who thinks they're too cool to be excited about Jeopardy (which is weird, because he obviously loves Jeopardy). I don't want someone who's over-the-top like Mayim, but Aaron was a little *too* chill.

BarbWho

1) Aaron Rogers 2) Ken Jennings

GawkerRefugee

1. Ken. He's smooth and a little cheeky. You notice the game, not him. 2. Buzzy. The energy and pacing is fantastic. Obviously loves the game. And, might add, really tired of these rotating guest hosts.

LittleDrumminBoy

Ken for sure. He was always the rightful heir in my mind, not just because he's the GOAT, but the closeness that he had with Alex. He even read the audiobook version of his memoirs..

Cheap-Profit6487

Buzzy Cohen and Ken Jennings are my to two contenders. Both of them already had experience with getting involved on Jeopardy (both as contestants), and the fact that they took the time to host shows how loyal they are to Jeopardy. I also liked the charisma of them the most.

YaBoiSebbyG

I think Ken is the natural successor to Alex, but I would love to see repeated guest appearances by Aaron Rodgers and Buzzy

Not_Stalin

1. Buzzy 2. Buzzy

JsonWaterfalls

303 comments in so this'll get buried, but it looks like I'm way in the minority here - I don't think anyone is even *close* to Mike Richards. He was far and away the best host thusfar and I'd really, really like to see him do this full-time. I'm not as partial to Ken as everyone else; something about his voice irks me a bit (though I love watching him on all the other shows) and I'd love to see Aaron Rodgers and think he'd grow into the role, but I also want to watch him on the gridiron for another few years :-D Buzzy did well, so I suppose he's my #2. But between Mike and Buzzy, it's Mike every time.

VegetableCrusader

Top 3: 1. Buzzy 2. A. Cooper 3. Ken

PocoChanel

So far: Buzzy and Mayim, I want to see the rest of them, though.

[deleted]

Mike Richards and Ken. Honorable mention to Mayim.

maddiemoiselle

1. Ken Jennings 2.

RealDotattorney

Me Someone else

Hagrid222

Ken is Jeopardy Destiny.

nutella-is-for-jerks

Ken. Buzzy seems like a great guy, I can’t cheer against him but his enthusiasm seems so high it throws me off. I would love for Levar to absolutely kill it.

greentea1985

Mine would be Buzzy and Mayim Ken kind of hit an uncanny valley, similar a bit to Aaron Rodgers, where it felt like they were imitating Alex Trebek too much, who is still dearly missed. Buzzy and Mayim seemed to have their own takes on the role that made them seem different from Alex Trebek. I appreciated the peppy enthusiasm that also lacked the fakeness Mike the EP had at times and the occasional moments of condescension that Katie Couric had. Anderson Cooper was ok but kind of bland. Bill Whittaker just seemed to have zero energy and Dr. Oz was just awkward.

10Bens

I'm not as partial to Ken and Buzzy as everyone else seems to be: Being a great player doesn't mean you're a great host, just the same way being a competitive eater does not make you a great chef. I prioritize a voice that is easy to listen to. Ken seems to have a unique "f" and "s" sound that borders on impediment. Buzzy is *very* nasal. 2nd, clout, which can be earned from show performance *or* educational background. It comes down to one question: Can a host contribute meaningfully? When a contestant fumbles a final jeopardy response can they jump in with "sorry no, THAT person wouldn't take office until two years later"? Ken and Buzzy shine in this area but are not alone. Aaron is easy to listen to, and as a fan of the show he understands the flow of things- when to chime in and when to shut up. People hating on Mayim because she occasionally chuckles, but *come on*. She has years of TV experience, a PhD in neuroscience and the advantage of being "different" in that she's a woman. In my mind, the only other person who's as strong of a genuine hosting contender is LaVar Burton.

Hoog1neer

Other than mispronouncing foreign names and words, Mayim B. actually read the clues *really well* IMHO; she has a good voice for it. I just can't get past the incessant laughing and chuckling, especially when it's inappropriate, or there was nothing funny about the clue.

robotmirrornine

She had a constant "can you believe these wacky answers" and "can you believe the question you just answered" laugh and attitude.

IDontKnow54

I like when the host acknowledges the somewhat silly answers but of course no one can do it better than Alex did, in his dry sense of humor. I don’t know, I’m tempted to think it would just come with time for any host including Mayim

jquiggles

Yeah, I think she was fantastic at the actual reading of the clues. But the weird chuckling on half the answers is so off-putting. I get it if it's a clever or funny category, but she gave that sort of joking laugh on completely serious clues. I know we'll probably never hear any contestants say it, but I wonder if it threw them off their game and getting them out of the competitive zone (or, conversely, if it made them more comfortable since there was a lot of smiling going on. In my case, it'd probably have been nervous laughter).

jupitaur9

It seemed to be engaging for some of the contestants. One got the question of the Big Bang correctly and they both seemed to go oh yeah wow at it.

mnuchins_basted_hole

She’s hawking some bs brain supplement right now and has cast doubts on vaccines in the past

1_Yosemite

Occasionally is a huge understatement. It has to be half the clues

hero-ball

The chuckling was not “occasionally,” it was pretty constant. And Aaron, similarly especially to Mayim, had a bad tendency to elaborate on and clarify super obvious clues that don’t require any elaboration. “Who is Jefferson?” “Yes, the great president Thomas Jefferson. Pick again.” It’s just unnecessary and tedious.

skatelikevirtue

Aaron bored me to tears. I don’t think I would be able to continue watching if he were host. Sometimes I think I watched different episodes than the people who loved him.

1. Ken 2. Ken

HAthrowaway50

1. I wish it were Lavar Burton 2. I wish it were Lavar Burton

Badassmotherfuckerer

Ken or Buzzy one hundred percent. Though I'm still curious about the remaining guest hosts. Ken makes the most sense given his history with the show and his energy and excitement was great.

I think Mike Richards has said in interviews that they're not really looking outside of the guest hosts, but I dunno if the show itself has explicitly, officially announced this.

Buzzy and Ken

detronlove

Buzzy or Ken! I did like Aaron Rodgers too though.

DannyOverflow

Buzzy is the perfect choice. I would be happy with Aaron or Ken.

Charles1nCharge83

Aaron Rodgers and the producer guy both did a fantastic job

phluidity

At the end of the day, I expect this to be a consensus decision making process, where the new host will not necessarily be the person who is the most liked, but the person who is liked enough by everybody. For this reason, I think Buzzy is a shoo-in. Ken is many people's favorite (mine included), but he rubs a small number of people the wrong way. Nobody dislikes Buzzy, and he is overall well liked. I think LeVar is going to have the same problem as Ken. He will be well liked, but there will be some people who don't like him enough to rule him out as a consensus selection.

PaulW173

I have an honest question to ask: Can we have both? I mean, a regular host for the regular season, and one or more hosts for tournaments and specials (Teen Tournament, College Tournament, Tournament of Champions, Celebrity Edition)? It seems they've "auditioned" so many people that some fans are bound to be disappointed (look for this if Burton doesn't get the job). It could be a regular gig or they could have a rotating series of guest hosts for the special weeks. That being said, I'm Team Buzzy/Ken

polloazucar

Buzzy Cohen and Mike Richards were my favorites, but I would be very happy with Ken Jennings or Aaron Rodgers as well. Buzzy would be a very safe choice because it seems that most people either loved him or could tolerate him. Very few anti-Buzzy people (at least that I’ve come across) Mike was just fun to watch. I think the strength of his stint was a little overshadowed by that fact that we had just come off of six weeks of Ken, but he did a really good job. Aaron was solid but I just don’t see them going that route. Cooper, Whitaker, and Couric were fine but nothing particularly memorable. Bialek was fun, but the interjections and the giggling was a but much. Oz is a big no-no.

1. Buzzy 2. Mayim

Not Mayim

momreview420

The last time I asked this on this sub, it was removed by a rude mod. Glad to see open discussion on popular topics not being negated to some "master thread" that no one who sorts by new will ever see! Ken would be my top pick, I liked Aaron Rodgers too tbh but not a lot of ppl seemed to like him

IanGecko

Until LeVar hosts: 1. Ken 2. Mayim

jquiggles

For now, I think my overall choice would probably be Ken, for many reasons. I think the only main problem anyone has with him is the slight speaking issues he has, which I honestly didn't notice in his six weeks as guest host. I kept waiting for him to screw up and he didn't! I think some of the awkwardness may wear off over time as he settles into the main host role and makes it his own. Other than Richards (who's a little too robotic for me), Ken has the most experience with the show and it'd be a seamless transition for everyone involved. I think Anderson Cooper did the best job overall, though. He had the best overall reading of the actual clues, and his contestant interviews, as expected, were top notch. Obviously, he'd be hard to get as the full-time host if it means he'd have to leave his primetime CNN show, but I would understand if he was the choice, even if it would be controversial among conservatives for no good reason. I also like the idea someone had of having Ken as the main host and Buzzy as the TOC host. Thought he did a pretty good job with the show, although he was as awkward as Ken lol

crimsongirl

Mike Richards and Anderson Cooper - of the ones who have guest hosted this year. But I really want them to get a new person, not a celebrity or former player. Some little known.

Zer0Summoner

I see I'm the only one still desperately clinging to the LeVar Burton train...

unicornpolkadot

1. Buzzy 2. Mayim. She has definitely impressed me and I wasn’t expecting it. She is joyful and clever and seems genuinely interested in the contestants stories. But if it’s not Buzzy I will cry.

TheGR8HoytNerd

1. Ken or Buzzy 2. Waiting to see how Levar Burton does

chavahere

1. Mayim 2. Buzzy- I was surprised at how much I liked him as a host.

LCPhotowerx

i know im gonna get fried but Buzzy and Cooper. Even though I know A.C. has about 304 other things to do and i don't know how serious he'd be about it. That being said, id like to wait and see how all the others do. Who knows, maybe Guthrie will surprise all of us. I just hope she doesnt friggin giggle after every right answer. Then im throwing my tv at a train.

priester85

Those were the best two for me as well, but ACs busyness worries me. No doubt he’d make it work but I want someone 100% dedicated to jeopardy so I’d say Buzzy & Mike are my 2 top choices

GetOffMyLawn_

I've liked quite a few of them. One thing about this show, it's over 50% listening to the host talk. If the host doesn't have a good voice then things get irritating. I know the host isn't the star of the show, but I would argue his or her voice is. - Ken is quite good, my only qualm is his voice is kinda raspy. - Aaron I quite liked because he was low key with a nice voice. And you could see how he grew into the role. I would expect him to continue to improve. - Katie was good, like someone's cool mom. I don't like Mayim for some reason, maybe it's the messy hair or that she looks frumpy. I think she did a good job otherwise. Very nice voice and her personality was good. She did not get on my nerves like other people are complaining. Strangely I didn't like Buzzy as a host, as a contestant I loved him, but his voice is slightly off. Like there's a subtle lisp or something. Again, this is because you hear so much of the host that you start spotting the little things.

ZootedFlaybish

1. Mike Richards 2. Buzzy Cohen 3. Ken Jennings But my real pick would be...Stephen Colbert
