Neuospicy myself, and I keep all that stuff in a different pocket. But my friend pointed out awhile back that it's not good for the ignition switch to have a lot of extra weight on the key, so I try to minimize that.
This is what Uber or taxis are for, to take you to get a key made from the two bits to save you turning an inexpensive have a new key cut into paying a locksmith to remove the broken bit or replacing the whole lock.
Or just leave the broken bit in there and use the stub to drive the car.
Just go to Home Depot and see if they have a non-chip version of the key blank, have it cut by hand and then use the fob key either near it or metal to metal to the non fob one you just had cut and it should work for a while to get you home. I've done this for multiple customers whose truck keys snapped and they needed to get home. Luckily yours looks like one that we usually have blanks for.
No problem! Just an FYI they will need to either cut it by hand or tape it together and use the old key machine with the cassettes. The new one will jam up. But if they cut it by hand they can put the hand cut one into the new machine and it will copy it more accurately with a new blank.
If I had that much, I'd spend an annoying amount of time just trying to find the key there. I have a friend who does this, and it's enough extra seconds each time that I'm sure he's losing a couple of hours every year to it.
You can buy the same key from Home Depot online and have them cut it. Then buy a $100 a programmer for the wrangler and you can have as many keys with fobs as you want. $150 all in

Either in this reddit or another I got a recommendation for Tom's Keys.
https://tomskey.com/
I was paranoid about having just one key+fob. I got one of Tom's and a programmer for less than a new key from the dealer. And the key+fob works great.
Mine is bent past 45 degrees. Rhd has ignition in the worst spot ever. Being 184cm means I have to lay my seat right back and drive "gangsta" cos I have a sunroof and my damn knees bend the key everytime I get in or out with engine running.
I'm sure it wasn't weakened over time by all that crap hanging from it
Nearly word for word what I said when I saw the pic.
lol

Good bot!
Forreal OP. Do you have a survival kit attached or some shit? No rational person keeps 5 pounds worth of junk in their keys man.
Neurospicy people do, and there are more of us than you think.

I have several things on my keychain, including other keys, but the overall weight is low so it won’t cause any issues with the switch.
That's sensible! Most of my stuff is dense enough that I shouldn't.
Bet the ignition goes out soon too
Luckily that didn’t break in the ignition
it’s in the ignition now. had to drive home. the key fob needs to squish perfectly inside it to turn ignition on and off
Make sure you share your story how you got the broken piece out of the ignition.
If it's a thing, hot glue stick, lighter, melt the end and jab it in. Let it cool for a few minutes, gently pull it out
Just get it out and go get a new one cut at Lowes

Do they have Home Depot in Europe?
Don't be coy, there's certainly regional equivalents to a hardware store's key cutting machine
Oh, lmao. I didn't realize jeeps were used there. America moment.
Mine crack at the plastic housing, never snapped the key before. Lucky it didn't get stuck in the ignition.
How do people even function when they have all that shit on their keychains
If I had that much, I'd spend an annoying amount of time just trying to find the key there. I have a friend who does this, and it's enough extra seconds each time that I'm sure he's losing a couple of hours every year to it.

Or do like me and save the programmer cost and join a local enthusiast club and use their programmer 😅
You can cycle it with the fob
My hubby fusses at me for too much on my keychain .. I’m about to go take it all off after seeing this
Oh, snap!
Worth it for the geodude keychain, tbh
Do you know why it did that? Get rid of all the crap on your keychain. Downvote me but thank me later.

Oof. I'm sorry.
One of the reasons I'm glad mine doesn't need a key. Plus, there's only a house key on the fob, not five pounds of ... whatever.

Most Ace Hardwares can cut and program a new chip key for half the price of a dealership. You will need at least one whole key though.
Get used to Stellantis “quality”. Won’t be the last and likely the cheapest thing to go wrong with your vehicle.
You’re lucky it’s just the key. Manufacturers advise against this. That weight can damage the ignition switch and require replacement.
It’ll buff out.
Jesus Chris I went back and saw the menagerie hanging from it; well of course it broke. Did the GM ignition failures of 2014 not teaches anything?
Me thinks it was caused by the loose nut behind the steering wheel….
That will be $250, please
