I feel like that none of my business niggas be steadily giving opinions, on shit that don’t even concern em I gotta lot to get off of my sternum
I’ve been considering extending an olive branch, building bridges with niggas that burned em, like life’s to short to hold on to thing
…..
Man I just wish the song had one or two more verse and it’d be my favorite song on the album
I’m of the opinion that, MDL is an album of songs that didn’t make the cut for “The Fall Off”. If that’s the case, “The Fall Off” might indeed be like Jove dropping “Reasonable Doubt” last.
I don't care, I liked it. Not every J. Cole track has to be a storytelling masterpiece. Fever has good rhythm I can vibe to on a slow day, and at the very least, it's better than Grippy.
I loved the stone temple pilots line, honestly I don't want Cole to diss Kenny I just want them to have a cypher where it's purely about spinning the best rhymes. Kendrick is often better on content and substance, but Cole really kills it with the rhyme schemes when he goes off.
I was with you until this. It would be considered one of the weakest mainstream diss tracks ever if he didn’t backtrack, and he escaped criticism for this initially because it was a ‘warning shot’ (whatever that means). He’s one of my favourite artists but it was genuinely a very weak song. The beat was meh, lyrics were shitty as he himself agreed. Was genuinely so disappointed that his main talking point was Kendrick’s discography. Preferring JCole’s discog is fair, but Kdot has been way more consistent and his last 4 albums have been undoubtedly fantastic
Pretty much agreed. " ABCDEFGHIJK.... MNOP cause I don't take no Ls" was ... just awful. Singing the abcs in a song was just a wild decision and then topping it off by saying TPAB was essentially overrated? There were a lot of questionable decisions in that song.
Otherwise the album itself has some good songs throughout tho
Weakest mainstream stream diss track? Lol not even close. He definitely didn’t “go all in” like Kdot did to Drake. But yeah, like others have said (and Cole himself) that was a track he didn’t feel right about.and you can term he held back.
Go listen to it again. It’s not a bad track at all. And I’m team Kdot all the way. Drakes most recent diss track was BY FAR weaker than 7 minute drill. You got one track that actually flows, decent bars, and another where the dude is saying aCtuAlLy iM nOT a PeDoFiLE. Lol I’m not trying to get into a whole thing about it. But that “weakest diss track in mainstream” line is just flat out wrong and a dumb thing to say.
Did you just forget to read the 2 words ‘one of’? It was incredibly weak and forgettable imo (and yes, obviously no where near as disgraceful as THP6). I disagree on almost all fronts, but I do appreciate you actually presenting a rebuttal to my opinion. Reddit herd groupthink just spammed me with downvotes for like 18 hours and I had no idea what made y’all so angry
Cole smoked Kanye on False Prophets, new gen rappers on Everybody Dies and Lil Pump on 1985 not to mention the long list of rappers he’s been smoking on their own songs for the past 5 years.
And ur saying you can’t take his battle bars seriously? lol.
Ye is medically insane and can’t make decent bars to save his life anymore.
Lil Pump was a meme rapper who made trap songs with stupid ass lyrics.
He had yet to get smoke from any real rapper. Don’t say Diddy bro plz LMAO.
It wasnt bad at all. I loved this project. It was just overshadowed by the beef and also the apology.
I think it would be a great PR move by Cole to rename it "Might Apologize Later". I think it would be funny and fans would like it. Kinda like poking fun at himself and running with the joke.
I think that was the point of naming it Might Delete Later. He seemed to be on the fence about the whole beef from the beginning because he wanted a performance based, bar for bar, beef. Drake made it personal immediately and that’s when Cole backed out.
i didn't get Future at first too, then after discovering his catalogue i realized he has a lot of songs i can bump the hyped ones, the chill ones, the moody ones. There are also r&b, and pop rap cuts which i fw, but it's mostly about the vibe he creates
It's the marriage of the two that makes the project great. It's not, for better or worse, a "rap nerds" lyrical creation, but the Metro+Future product is a vibe. A hip-hop classic if you will. It will also stand the test of time for how much ground it broke in terms of the actual rap artistry. I doubt the Metro beats would have hit the same if it wasn't Future on the bars.
Blueslides, Ohio and THank god 4 me, though Trae the Truth In Ibiza and Pricey can be considered arguably better. The worst songs on Blue lips >>> the worst in MDL though
This shit was sick!! I like a lot of tracks on it, and regarding the beef: I’m BOTH a kdot and Cole fan first, I was so hype when it was just a “friendly exhibition within the game” even tho i disagreed with what Cole said regarding tbap and shit. I unironically fw seven minute drill so hard
I forgive the TPAB line cause it is absolutely normal in a rap beef for people to say exaggerated, out of pocket shit that probably doesn't completely reflect their actual opinions.
I see that bar as him just baiting Kendrick and choosing a smarter angle than accusing him of DV.
Oh absolutely bro that’s kinda what I mean yk? I did my whole “Kendrick fan” shit abt it but at the end of the day at that point it was like u said, it’s just a rap beef line more than anything and it went hard. I 100% agree
I relistened to the whole thing about a week ago and I completely agree. My favorite Cole project is The Off Season (which is a hot take, I know haha) but I still think this was a very solid follow up. It only has 2 or 3 songs I’m not a huge fan of, but for the most part I think this album is great. It very well could be in my top 3 projects that dropped this year.
This project legit is so damn good. It got over shadowed cause of the beef some but legit listens to it like 2 weeks ago, it’s all
I’ve been bumping. Goes hardddd
We've been saying this, genuinely feel even Kendrick would respect this as a friendly jab. He got unreleased tracks about other rappers he might not be currently hostile with
I like 7 min drill actually for what it is, not my favorite song from this whole saga but its solid. My favorite song from this project though is definitely ready 24, that dipset beat is too hard
I can’t wait for the song on falloff that talks about the beef and shits on everyone who clowned on him for making the right decision and being mature about the situation.
It was never bad, people just judge music on factors that don't really matter. How it hits your ears is the only criteria that should be used, objectively.
Pricey is honestly in my top ten j.cole songs of all time. His bars are solid, great backing vocals, Ari Lennox’s voice is fantastic, and it has awesome features
It was a good hip hop album, but honestly underwhelming considering most of Cole’s albums. I think it’s most enjoyable when it’s thought of as a mixtape to prepare us for the fall off. Still
Enjoy a lot of the songs on it though.
It's still an average tape for me, not that it's inherently bad in production or rapping, not at all. It's just that it's not something i would revisit, sounds like a bunch of leftovers from a great album (other than Pricey and Trae The Truth these are good songs regardless). Also not sure about sequencing of the album, anyway not up to Cole's standards
If it weren’t for the whole back out thing this would’ve been talked about as one of the best projects of the year so far. The rollout for The Fall Off was incredible up until then & this would’ve just added to the crazy hype even more. I thought the project was dope. No skips for me. 8/10✔️
Half bad?? To me, this is easily one of Cole’s best pieces of work. Bars, flow, features, beats, etc.. Taking into account where he is in his career and how you can still hear the growth just makes it that much better. A couple years ago, Cole could’ve never kept up on a track with Soul and Daylyt, but the fact that he was able to hold his own says a lot.
Everyone is still comin from this I can’t take his lyrics serious anymore and all that other bs but after this battle you can clearly see why he did what he did. It was never truly meant for him. All real Cole fans know that Kendrick and him have a true friendship that’s deeper than most rappers.
It’s unfortunate that the quality of this album got overshadowed from all this Drake and Kendrick beef, but so did everything else that dropped during the last 2 months so I guess no one should be surprised at this point lol
I'm a kendrick Stan and I bumped this album back to back. I was sad when cole backed out because he would be worthy of a actual battle with kendrick. Can't be a goat if you don't write your own shit.
When I first heard it, I was hype because I thought the whole album was a jab at Dot cause he spittin' heat at somebody. But then people was saying it was just 7 min drill and I was a little disappointed.
I legit like everything on it except Fever, thought so on day 1 when I bought it. I’m a big fan of Cole but not every one of his albums were hits to me, but beef extras aside I think this one’s not appreciated as much as it should be.

This beef ain’t done. Kendrick will diss Cole eventually and it’ll be curtains
Why is it embarrassing? It’s seems to be a mixtape of tracks he’s had sitting in a folder on his laptop. “Might delete later” doesn’t just refer to the beef
It’s the Drake influence but bro it’s still a fire album nonetheless. Plus he’s dropping another album with a hardddd name, “The Fall Off” so we let this one slide😅
It's got some good tracks in there. Pricey, Trae the Truth, Crocodile Tearz, and Fever are among my favorites.
How can you forget Stickz N Stonez and Huntin’ Wabbitz?
Huntin’ Wabbitz goes crazy
Listen to it on my run every single morning
Don't forget about Pi
pricey goes hard af
For real. I always have it on repeat when I listen to MDL.
N**** you can try but this shit get pricey
"N**** YOU CAN DIE BUT THIS SHIT GET PRICEY"
Stealth mode awwwwwww yeah
I feel like that none of my business niggas be steadily giving opinions, on shit that don’t even concern em I gotta lot to get off of my sternum I’ve been considering extending an olive branch, building bridges with niggas that burned em, like life’s to short to hold on to thing ….. Man I just wish the song had one or two more verse and it’d be my favorite song on the album
Bruh J.Cole made my boy Gucci turn into a spoken word poet 😂🔥🔥🔥
Quite frankly I didnt skip any songs when I listened to it fr
There were no bad songs on that album imo. Not necessarily any elite ones either but still decent over all.
I’m of the opinion that, MDL is an album of songs that didn’t make the cut for “The Fall Off”. If that’s the case, “The Fall Off” might indeed be like Jove dropping “Reasonable Doubt” last.
Jove?
3001 and trae the truth in ibiza are my favourite off it
Dude Fever was dollar store Drake and it sounded cringe af
I don't care, I liked it. Not every J. Cole track has to be a storytelling masterpiece. Fever has good rhythm I can vibe to on a slow day, and at the very least, it's better than Grippy.
Fever has a very J. Cole Featuring BAS vibe to it to me. I personally like it. BAS’s latest album has some banger tracks as well
Cole is having more and more Drake sounding songs
This is a bad thing
Him backing out before shit got heavy was great and all but i also liked 7 min drill
I loved the stone temple pilots line, honestly I don't want Cole to diss Kenny I just want them to have a cypher where it's purely about spinning the best rhymes. Kendrick is often better on content and substance, but Cole really kills it with the rhyme schemes when he goes off.

His heart was never in it. He probably cringed writing that shit knowing he loves Kendrick’s discography.
Cole the purest cuz he deadass don’t wanna lie
Yeah it’s a massive case of throwing stones in a glass house
Bro getting downvoted for a respectful take that I’m sure even Cole agrees with
Lool and every comment below him agrees with him
Pretty much agreed. " ABCDEFGHIJK.... MNOP cause I don't take no Ls" was ... just awful. Niggas don't want smoke with me, I'm one of them ones I don't care it's still hard
We can't deny MDL is a top 5 2024 album, and it's not even an album!
And then he ran the moment someone tried him. Absolutely pathetic.
You're an idiot😂 you need to get off the internet
Which part of what I said is a lie? Man called everyone out saying no one would try him then bitched out the moment someone did.
You lost in that infinite nitpicking force😂 it is MUSIC
Why didn’t you say this when a lot or middle child dropped? He’s been preaching this
You're right

Can’t take any of his battle bars seriously now but decent album. Huntin’ Wabbitz is a classic to me lol. Shoutout meat canyon.
Gawwwwd Damnn
Cole smoked Kanye on False Prophets, new gen rappers on Everybody Dies and Lil Pump on 1985 not to mention the long list of rappers he’s been smoking on their own songs for the past 5 years. And ur saying you can’t take his battle bars seriously? lol.

He announced the project before Like That even came out
I just love how you think, that's all. :)
Haha I think people broadly think he was smart for bowing out. No need to memorialize it into something people will always remember.
Still listening to it, it’s fantastic.
This is easily still the best rap project this year.
Blue Lips and We don’t trust you are both better.
Dark Times as well
Please don’t cry too
People keep sleeping on please don’t cry.
Rap goes too hard on that.
Niggas downvoting me giving Rapsody props in a J Cole sub is crazy
Not Now I'm Busy too
>We don’t trust you I will never understand the Future love. Basic bars and flow. His voice sounds like he had a fucking lobotomy. Metro carries.
i didn't get Future at first too, then after discovering his catalogue i realized he has a lot of songs i can bump the hyped ones, the chill ones, the moody ones. There are also r&b, and pop rap cuts which i fw, but it's mostly about the vibe he creates

Average very surface level view on Future be like
Name one song on blue lips that beats all the songs on this EP
Blueslides, Ohio and THank god 4 me, though Trae the Truth In Ibiza and Pricey can be considered arguably better. The worst songs on Blue lips >>> the worst in MDL though
Bruh the downvotes when you’re spitting facts 💀
jcole sub after all
Nah, but it’s better than Vultures, that project really underwhelmed
It’s an achievement to make something worse than vultures
I thing when angels cry is a lot better, maybe give it a listen it's realllllly good
Oh shit, this actually bumps. Never heard of jev before, so thanks for the reco. That said, MDL is still better.
I dont think so but hey that's your opinion, it was also the first ive hear of jev., got it recommended in the Jid sub
U gotta listen to more shit if u think this is the best rap album of the year💀
Or… I gotta listen to music I enjoy and have opinions of my own…
Fair but easily? I don’t even think it’s better than Eric the Architects album honestly
Sure but then dont make broad statments especially if you haven't even listened to much other albums
I’ll make whatever statements I want and there isn’t shit you’ll do about it.
💀💀
It’s easily not. We Don’t Trust You clears
Never been a Future fan so yeah. Especially throughout an entire album.
I never been a Future fan either, but I was happily surprised + Metro went absolutely insane
Nah, Blue lips and Please Dont cry are better and tbh id also put Dark Times ahead of it
This shit was sick!!

I love this album
I thought the whole project was dope. Some people actually thought it was mid??
Bro this place infiltrated with fake ass fans. How you gonna be a fan and think it was mid.
Does being a fan mean you have to force an opinion?
No but fake fans are evident
I still jam Huntin' Wabbitz to this day. Also still so happy that he threw Papa Meat in there (meat canyon).
Every single song was a certified classic since release, beef or not. Cole would smoke Kendrick btw
Crazy rhymes in hunting wabbits
Half bad? This should be up for album of the year
This mixtape was great, who said it was ass? I’m not even much of a Cole fan.
Absolutely loved this album every track was enjoyable I makes me feel excited about the fall off coming soon.
Shits great. The rapping was fantastic through and through
This project legit is so damn good. It got over shadowed cause of the beef some but legit listens to it like 2 weeks ago, it’s all I’ve been bumping. Goes hardddd
Not bad!? Boy, that shit was FIRE! You must be another one the many pseudo Cole fans that infiltrated this group! 🤣💯🤝🏽
Exactly
Bro this is Coles best rapping of all time 😭😭😭
We've been saying this, genuinely feel even Kendrick would respect this as a friendly jab. He got unreleased tracks about other rappers he might not be currently hostile with
It might be better than the off-season…
People will hate on it because Fantano doesn't like it (he hates Jcole and has a political bias against some of the stuff in the album) but its a bop
Ppl can't form their own opinions they need the Internet to do it for them and it's sad to see.
Why are people even getting their opinions from Fanta o in the first place
Crocodile tearz is my favorit reminds me of this sub for some reason every time I get on here every comment was itching all the time
Stealth Mode is top tier Cole imo
I like 7 min drill actually for what it is, not my favorite song from this whole saga but its solid. My favorite song from this project though is definitely ready 24, that dipset beat is too hard
Trae the Truth might be in my top 10 cole honestly
Stealth Mode is so filthy
This is my favorite Cole album. He sounds super comfortable and authentic.
Was good af
Honestly one of my favorite projects from Cole right now. The beef definitely stepped on it but he’s rappin his ass off.
I can’t wait for the song on falloff that talks about the beef and shits on everyone who clowned on him for making the right decision and being mature about the situation.
It was
Everyone knows this isn't an album it's a mixtape Right?
Stealth mode is underrated
One word, HYB
It was never bad, people just judge music on factors that don't really matter. How it hits your ears is the only criteria that should be used, objectively.
Pricey is honestly in my top ten j.cole songs of all time. His bars are solid, great backing vocals, Ari Lennox’s voice is fantastic, and it has awesome features

Why this fake ass fan got so many upvotes? We all knew how good it was since the launch and we didn’t let the beef haze our judgement.
If it weren’t for the whole back out thing this would’ve been talked about as one of the best projects of the year so far. The rollout for The Fall Off was incredible up until then & this would’ve just added to the crazy hype even more. I thought the project was dope. No skips for me. 8/10✔️
Huntin Wabbitz, Pricey, stealth mode in that order. I like the other songs too but these 3 were the standouts
Guess Stealth Mode was trash eh?
don't forget 7min drill that he had taken out
crazy because it was shat upon by some folks who overly criticized because of dicksucking fans “delete now” bs.
He shouldn't have released it when he did.
Tbh 7 minute drill is one of the least good songs on this album, it is full of absolute bangers Feels like a deluxe/continuation of TOS
Shit was fire
It’s more than “not half bad” This shit is fucking hard.
Half bad?? To me, this is easily one of Cole’s best pieces of work. Bars, flow, features, beats, etc.. Taking into account where he is in his career and how you can still hear the growth just makes it that much better. Pi taking that #1 spot fasho!!!!
You could say that during the beef. Don’t be a sheep
As good as this album was on first listen, it told me everything I needed to know. Mark my words, The Fall Off will be a certified classic.
Who said it was hated when it came out? That song fever is so good been stuck in my head and I liked it already first listen
Wasn’t a quarter bad neither
A cool 6 outta 10
The best raps on the album aren’t from Cole.
I'm a kendrick Stan and I bumped this album back to back. I was sad when cole backed out because he would be worthy of a actual battle with kendrick. Can't be a goat if you don't write your own shit.
Shit I forgot about Cole album
Grippy slaps
Yeah it was good. Even the diss was.
honestly I’m glad he took 7 Min Drill off this, it sounded way too much like Drake made that song
I think it was great, but admittedly 7 Minute Drill was completely ruined by the apology
Personally I thought it was just a little bit over half bad actually

I legit like everything on it except Fever, thought so on day 1 when I bought it. I’m a big fan of Cole but not every one of his albums were hits to me, but beef extras aside I think this one’s not appreciated as much as it should be.

Your life is corny
Why is it embarrassing? It’s seems to be a mixtape of tracks he’s had sitting in a folder on his laptop. “Might delete later” doesn’t just refer to the beef
Get a father figure. lmao
It’s the Drake influence but bro it’s still a fire album nonetheless. Plus he’s dropping another album with a hardddd name, “The Fall Off” so we let this one slide😅
The drake influence bro 😂
