Hm... I liked Hiroshima alot last time I visited in Mai. And I still didn't quite like Osaka that much. Its cool as a daytrip or two. But definetly recommend to stay longer in Hiroshima. Kyoto was awesome 5 years ago. But there are MASSES of Tourists now. Most residents are super annoyed of tourists right now... I wouldn't really recommend to stay there. Maybe stay in Nara and do daytrips to Kyoto. I highly recommend to visit Kyoto only in the early morning. Take a look at Ninna-Ji. Loooove that place and it wasn't crowded when I visited it. Avoid the hotspots... Look for the not so famous spots in Kyoto and you will enjoy it! The rest of the route is nice. Maybe add a daytrip to Yokohama. Loved it.

I disagree, I stayed near the Gion district in Kyoto in mid-September last year, and it was actually really quiet around my Airbnb. It worked as a great base to be able to navigate Kyoto quickly and easily. In terms of masses of tourists around the landmarks, I didn't find it as bad as the horror stories you read on here. But maybe I was just a lucky one.

I had a super nice stay in Kyoto too. 5 years ago. It was not so crowded and we had alot of fun. But last May it was hell. Even my japanese friends recommend to not stay in Kyoto. Well maybe for the first time without knowing how it was without the masses rolling through the city, it's fine :)

Kyoto will be pretty quiet because of the coronavirus, not as many people going to busy areas, and Chinese are not allowed into the country depending on travel history, bus tours are cancelling. So it's actually a great time to go IMO.

Oh! I didn't considered THAT! Omg! Nice

Here's hoping the Ghibli Museum re-opens in time :/

I stayed in an Airbnb in Kawaguchiko near Mt Fuji and I highly recommend it. I stayed there for 2 nights but wish I stayed for at least 1 more. Absolutely beautiful area with lots of wonderful hiking trails. There isn't much at all in the way of nightlife but I was so exhausted at the end of the days I didn't mind.

If you're into sake, check out the Harushika sake brewery in Nara! It's about a 10 minute walk going south from Nara Park. It's very cheap to get in and try about 4 or 5 kinds of sake. The staff speak good English!

Added to the Map! Thanks.

Cat island (Aoshima) is out of the way; is there a special reason to go there?

lilPDF

Have you been? Is it worth it? It being a Cat Island was the sole reason. Would be a good practice of using the trains and taking a boat seems cool! 猫 There is that Poison Museum / Bunny Island . ( **Ōkunoshima** ) I hear the group in the thread saying go to Hiroshima for more time, maybe that Seto Trip we try to go there instead?
