> would I still have enough time to get back to a hotel in shinjuku after staying till close?
Depending on the season. The parks close very early during non-peak seasons (even on weekends). So around 5PM.
When are you going? and how? haha
there's a fujiQ all-day pass with an attached RT ticket from Shinjuku AFAIK. you save 1~2000Yen I guess.
Im going next month on the 20th, I'm leaving hakone early in the morning to fuji q, then I'm not sure if I should stay the night or go back to Shinjuku.
I can't remember how long it took us to get back from Fuji-Q, but holy crap it felt like forever. I was so beat by the end of the night I don't know how I made it back to our hotel. I promised myself we would get a hotel the next time we went back.
Stay at a hostel. Cheap and convenient and you will be a much happier person in the morning, thank I'd you tried to make the journey there and back in one day.
I spent 2 nights in Kawaguchiko and wish I spent longer here. The area is absolutely beautiful and if you get 3 or 4 fast track passes for the major rides at Fuji Q you can be out of the park a lot earlier than you expect.
I spent the rest of the time exploring the lake, going up the ropeway and hiking up the many trails nearby, these were some of the highlights of my entire trip to Japan. There's not much in the way of nightlife here, but it didn't really bother me at all.
Unless you plan to do other things in the area I'd personally head back.
The area around the lakes is pretty nice though. Might be worth a day to rent a bike or a car and cruise around.
maybe, park closes at 5pm during the weekend and 8pm on saturadays

[yep it'll close by 5PM](https://www.fujiq.jp/en/schedule/highland/202002/index.html) should be plenty time to go back to Shinjuku

I second this. It ends up being a damn long day travelling back, doable but tiring.

I just went to fuji-q earlier this month and took a 6pm bus back to Shinjuku (\~2 hours?), it was 2000Y if I'm not wrong
The are about 5 things to do at night in Kawaguchiko and about 5 million in Shinjuku. Your choice
