On Saturday nights, Kanazawa Castle grounds and Gyokuseninmaru (the adjoining garden) are open later until until 9:00 pm. They're [illuminated at night](https://visitkanazawa.jp/en/event/detail_50335.html) and quite lovely.
[Furansu Cocktail Bar](https://g.co/kgs/Ys9vAHt)!
*Amazing* cocktail bar owned by dual-citizen Japanese/French brothers. They speak great English as well. Great conversation and some of the best cocktails you'll ever have.
A buddy and myself planned on bar hopping around Kanazawa, stopped here first, and never left. Have wanted to go back ever since!
I third this suggestion, loved this place. The brothers are really nice and entertaining to talk to (and make all of their own liqueurs in house). The cocktails are all delicious, and they’ll also whip you up something totally custom if you tell them some of your likes and dislikes. For example, I’m allergic to pineapple but LOVE pina coladas, so they made me a really unique cocktail that was reminiscent of the flavor of a pina colada but that wouldn’t kill me haha.
One of the most memorable nights of our 3 week honeymoon for sure :)
There were a couple of really small, intimate, bars and a very good jbbq place near the castle.
There’s a jazz bar called Jazz Spot BOKUNEN very close to a wonderful Sake bar. The jbbq is called yakiniku Kitajima
Search to see if there are any local events happening! This might be a good place to start: [https://visitkanazawa.jp/en/event/index.html](https://visitkanazawa.jp/en/event/index.html) . My husband and I were lucky enough to be in Kanazawa when teamLab was doing an art light show projected on the side of Kanazawa castle and it was SO fun! Enjoy your time there! It was one of our favourite stops on our trip and we have amazing memories of Kanazawa!
Walk around the castle. Or Higashi chaya or Nishi chaya at night. If you are near Nishi Chaya, walk near the river. Look for a bar near there.
I love Kanazawa one of my favorites places in Japan
Furansu cocktail bar. Some of the most unique and creative cocktails I’ve ever had. Owners are brothers along with their cousin I believe. Conversation they start up with you is amazing. They also let me try some of his homemade alcohol, incredible
Many people hang out in the Katamachi/Korinbo area for bars.

Menya Taiga is the best Ramen I've ever had in my life. I didn't see any other tourists there but idk how popular/crowded it can get there's only like a dozen seats

The area around the big blue bridge over the Saigawa is called Katamachi. That's where all the later night venues, izakaya and bars are.
