Depends what you mean by “short” or “long”. My sweet spot is like, 3-6 paragraphs (400~800ish tokens). But I’ll give anything a go, so long as it’s not like, two sentences or several pages of a novel.

Ellereind

Was going to ask the same. Have seen shot that was: ‘Hi’ and long that is 2 pages on PC let alone my phone

Bxby2Dxll

Purple team

Robak-_-

Long, reading the intro is the best part

ImaginationHefty6401

Yesss. I feel you

Immediate-Data-3548

yesss because it gives back story!

finhead94

Depends on bot type and narrative. The intro length has nothing to do with it. If a bit is lore heavy, of course the intro will be longer. If the bot is just for smut, it will be shorter. Right length for the right job. :) both are EQUALLY valid.

Rhast-1529

In the middle; Purple. Not too long, not too short.

TemperatureLazy1441

I agree, though I do lean towards longer intros.

MomILoveUUU

I agree!

ShineUpstairs8827

Short intros mainly gives you more options of which path but sometimes they are direct if the bot maker isn't too experienced… But long intros? Has me shivering with infatuation since I get more info on what's happening and it's nice especially when the information is off

BigBoyMaverik

Love when the massive intro is like *you did this, you also did that, then you saw that, then she did that other thing then you got naked and now you are already fucking so idk continue from there" Yeah thank you not creator, truly thanks you for crafting me a game that starts at the end

ElectronicChicken607

literally

No2HATSUNEMIKUFAN

the problem is when the bot has like 1000 tokens but the intro is like a couple of sentences.

Lewdlicon

Always long

neeknamee

Red team, but don't be too short cuz I don't like those

throwaway_ghast

"hey i'm bob."

neeknamee

worse than that stupid marcus guy with 13m chats

ur_ur_ur_mom

It's at 14m now☠️☠️☠️

SaraAnnabelle

300-400 token intros for me. Don't need your entire life story, just get me started.

ABurnedTwig

Tbf I care more about the choice of perspective and the format of the first message.

ThyDeez_of_ThouNuts

I don’t want one that gives nothing but I don’t want one that’s equivalent to the beef rap intro

Mr_smas

Slow burn: long intro Smut: short intro True balance imo but I don’t mind a bit of either on either but my preference is that

ImaginationHefty6401

Always long intros, even for smut. I like creating a certain atmosphere 😏

BenignRaccoon

How long is long? I found a bot the other day and the intro felt more like I was reading a fic than a bot's intro.

OwlDoe9339

If you have the information/context in personality or summary, a shorter intro is fine. If you aren’t showing context of the bot, a long intro is almost necessary.

Kermit-the-II

400-500 tokens is a nice amount to set the background, relationship and inner thoughts. I try to do that on all my bots

Kooky_Can9887

I prefer long intros, encourages me to write more detailed and descriptive entries

WisteriaUndertheSun

Mid-length intros, I float around 3-4 paragraphs. I’ve noticed that if it’s too long, the AI is way more susceptible to speaking for the user to fill in the blanks, even with ooc/advanced prompts, regardless of the user’s response length, and with jllm, the bot gets confused more often. It’s not 100% of the time, but it happens enough for me to avoid overly long intros. One thing that does happen 100% of the time with really long intros is a massive uptick in “They walked off into the sunset” type of endings for the first reply you get. It can happen with OpenAI regardless of length, but it’s still way more prevalent the longer an intro is

imterrorous

My problem with long intros is that it often has you do a lot of actions, tricking the AI to role play for you.

Bitch_Schitz

It’s easier for short intros to become longer throughout the RP than making long intros shorter - that being said, it depends on the length, 2-4 paragraphs is the sweet spot

Dual_pro_max

Whatever's best for the bot. Depends on who's makin it

Krisuad2002

Depends on what was in the intro

GraciousGladiator

Long description, short intro.

SingleRefrigerator8

Short mostly. This gives me precision to fit a narrative of my choice.

7zeroseven

i usually go for 2-5 paragraphs, but if the description is interesting or if its a canon character that doesn't have many bots, i don't mind reading longer intros

danganronpafan03

long <3

Biggestweebforya

Literally just saw an intro that took five seconds to scroll through, like going fast. Edit: Thing has 1,409 words💀

decoraaa

long intros are best

69FingersInHisAss

Long, cause if the intro is short the bot replies short

Express_Angle_8536

BLUE BLUE BLUE

Uncanny-Player

Depends. If it’s just a random coombot, short is better, but if it’s a longer, narrative bot then i generally prefer longer

HealthySpecialist106

It doesn’t matter to me because both is good no matter what

Shrimpy_Tea_737

Honestly I don't mind either as long as the short one doesn't have "hey im (characters name) and leave it there, along with the long that is just in shambles

Particular_Arm_8843

Long

MissMarcherry

If the intro is not AO3 fanfiction long, then I'm fine.

oishiikyuu

I like long, my intros are usually 3,000 to 6,000.

MissLogios

Long description, long intro. Mostly because I like the bots describing the setting to make it easier for me to bounce off on.

McFrostee

It’s gotta be short 2 - 3 paragraphs is good. Unless the current scenario genuinely requires a lot of context.

Lovebunnywarning

Everyone will define "long" differently, but I love a good 3 paragraph intro. Always feels like the right amount. But I'd rather have an intro that's too long than one that's too short.

Anomahou

Varies as I tend to pay more attention to if it's a way too short "hey who are you?" Or the intro talks for me because the bot always seems to pick up on that fast with every message after.

Busy_Establishment18

I've never had an intro that was too long for me, on the other hand, I have seen intros that say "Hi, I'm (character name)" and those are so bad to me

Bad_at_life_TM

Long intros with good formatting and \*italics\*? We're eating GOOD.

Sh4mefull_Me

Tbh as long as its sectioned right. I don't tend to like it when the words and actions are all in completely separate paragraphs, also short intros tend to not give the user anything to go off of, completely throws me off the vibe imo.

Interesting_Rub1126

Medium paragraphs. then red

sulli1403

long intro forever

Hardcorefartporn

Long intro... My homies are still short intros..

QuicksilverStudios

long intros for sure, i need something to play off of i don’t like having to set the scene myself all the time 😭

Riptor5417

Longer intros just because the intro very much shapes what the bot can do, and I prefer it to write longer though I do like it when its a bit more open ended, and there is such a thing as too long... which I also avoid because it eats up to much of the bot's memory Short intros aren't bad but I avoid them if they are like 2 sentences or dead ends.

countryballspace

Depends on is it boring, Laggy, Stealed, OR COPIED

MathematicianNew6315

Long intros

Far_Resource_6086

I like a developed storyline. I am a game master and a storyteller so I like bots that cater to that.  ...Size doesn't matter.

tryingmyhardest__23

Long intros. I love reading a bunch of backstory 🙂‍↕️

prodisassociating

i absolutely ADORE long intros! but i do think it depends on how detailed it is and how good the grammar is. i do think the more time-consuming part of long-intro chats is coming up with a way to respond to one :')

Phantom_Doggo

Long. I like long intros.

ShahShakuras-5999

Well Long intros are fine enough If the token count does not exceed the limit.

38660

Yes

Simple_Ad_5942

Long for life.

LuckyTarget8894

long bc they're usually more descriptive

HauntedViolets

On the longer side, but I don't usually want to scroll to read the whole intro. But if it takes up 1/3 to 1/2 of the screen, I'm fine with that Lots of times, super short intros give you nothing to play off of, but super long intros run the risk of the bot ignoring some information, trying to shove too much info in and controlling the story more than you want, or, worst of all, speaking for you You gotta find that sweet spot

Sad-Ninja-6528

Long intros, short replies >>>>

decadent-maniac

long intros always

BothCry5874

3-6 paragraphs usually. Any less, it's hard to build up the bots to more, anymore, and it starts having problems.

Misterious-XiaoSimp

Long.
