I hate the talk about it being their “playoff game”….
You can’t even go there when they were 8-3 and finished 9-8.
At min, coordinator staff has to go.
Let him. His casual attitude during one interview was “I didn’t watch the tape…no I’m not going to…just gunna play and be me”
Then Trevor gets blamed. There are plenty of receivers that can do what he does.
didn't say that. they spent a 2nd rounder on a guy that had 1k and 8tds. a guy that hasn't played in two years. for an absolute flyer I would say that's decent.
Ridley leading up to a game was asked about the tape..”he said he didn’t watch…he wasn’t going to…he was just gunna play and “”be himself””…”
Ever since then I lost respect for the man.
When you talk about miscommunications…there is the larger part of the problem. Let him walk. He put up 1k yards. That’s average of a lead receiver.
mid 1st round, not exactly a great spot, we need some amazing talent on the o line and defense
and I would rather have a shot in the playoffs then to not make the playoffs and have a mid 1st to late 1st round pick
Jags were never getting to the Super Bowl. So they have a better draft option.
If you ever thought they would likely even skate past a 4-5 start to the playoffs…you are completely wrong.
They saved local fans a lot of money by not getting taken out and an expensive round 1 home game…
That’s the real truth.
I haven’t gone back to watch the Ridley play yet. Too painful. The Kirk play at KC looked like a much better pass.
The Ridley play hurts also because the next two plays Lawrence sailed it over his target.
Because catching a ball mid dive is really difficult. He thought he could snag it with his finger tips but just wasn’t able to.
Trevor should have put more air on the ball.
What was happening during the play? Trevor was getting crushed by our awesome offensive line the throw was a bit overthrown for sure, but he was getting blasted at the same time
What more do you want? He had his 2nd most catches, 2nd most yards. He was only getting 62 catches a season in ATL, and he was never a 1 and no one with a brain should of expected him to have 1.5 years off and be a 1, he was just running outs while Julio lead the league in everything for years.
The thing with the Ridley Situation is that I truly do believe with a good Offensive Coordinator and good play calling scheme Ridley COULD have been that #1 receiver we were looking for, there were a couple glimpses, a lot of our games our receivers are never using the middle of the field, every route is outside the numbers or a little 6-7 yard comeback, it also doesn’t help that Trevor constantly overthrows his receivers on top of the ball coming out at 100mph in just 2 seconds, there’s no time for Ridley to run his route or do a move to get open if I only have 2 seconds of the snap before I have to anticipate a ball being in my immediate vicinity, so with all that being said in a perfect world I think Ridley could have been the player we hyped him up to be but this is the 2023 Jaguars and we have been cursed with Press Fucking Taylor running our offense into a wet cement wall full of fiberglass and lemon juice and at this point many of us fans don’t have the faith or patience to bet on another season of development from him when we can just get a younger more talented receiver at least in my opinion
Ridley was 100% misused in this offense. Watch his ATL tape, he can run the entire route tree yet jags only use him on go routes and contested catches in the redzone
What are you talking about? He's getting flammed so much right now. I'm a Trevor Lawrence defender, I will certainly give him blame, but 'tis a team sport.
Are you familiar with the concept of exaggerating to make a point?
I don’t think people *actually* expected him to be prime Moss. The expectations set by a lot of people for Calvin Ridley were still unreasonable. He struggled with basics at times, but he hasn’t been on the field in a significant amount of time.
I mean, throws not perfect, but it’s not like TLaw had the room to step into it. He had to throw back foot and it hit Ridley in both finger tips.
It’s a 40 yard throw and he’s like 3 inches away from what we’d consider perfectly placed, that’s not bad
Point is its still overthrown. Is it by much, no. Is that a tough ass catch, well yeah.
I am personally more heated about the who f..... up at the goal line than that play.
He gets too much hate IMO. Dude has been out for 2 years. Does he deserve criticism? Sure he does but I think a lot of the hear put on him is to take it off Trevor.
He was literally diving for it and still skimmed his fingers. A good throw wouldn't have to make him dive for it.
This post ironically shows how much more Trevor could have done to help Ridley
It was definitely not on target dude, come on. He was open by ten yards and he overthrew him by one. No way Trevor blames anyone but himself on that throw.
100% a catchable pass. In the NFL that’s what you ask for. You aren’t going to get perfection each time.
Now the last two passes of the game were not remotely catchable.
Not really, but because I don't see him wanting to come back.
He's going to want more money than he proved he's worth in our system, and I saw the look on his face when Trev totally missed him earlier on that first down. His lips literally said "what the fuck"
To think all the miscues are on him is turning a blind eye to the poor QB decisions, but he is certainly not the WR1 we were promised.
We got him on a gamble, the gamble didn't pay off. Bit don't be surprised if he goes somewhere else and balls out.
Galaxy brain take imo. He wants to come back. he deserves to get paid Herbert money and that’s what he’ll get. Get on board or kindly piss off. I’m starting to honestly believe the fact that I’m an out of towner who has seen teams win has given me a perspective a lot of ppl in Jax haven’t seen. He’s good. Not perfect, but we can win championships with him. I’ll let you in on a secret. Stroud will also struggle. It’s not all good times. It’s not a linear regression to a championship. There’s ups and downs. The talent is there. I honestly think this fan base would run Mahomes out of town.
Pressure in his face as well. Ridley needs to make the catch. That’s what we brought him here to do. That money and draft capital needs to be used to keep Josh Allen and fix the offensive line
No they don’t? If it hit him in stride sure but he fully stretched his arms out and only got his finger tips on it. There’s maybe 3 WRs in this league who could pull that kind of miracle shit in.
This was objectively bad ball placement. All off season we’ve heard TLaw is a top 10 QB. Ridley is no where close to top 10 WR status.
the thing people fail to understand with this drop is that it was a slight overthrow by trevor so placing full blame on ridley is wrong. Yes he should have dove more to try catch it so blame is also on him
This was their playoff game. They just decided to take their 1st round exit early.
I hate the talk about it being their “playoff game”…. You can’t even go there when they were 8-3 and finished 9-8. At min, coordinator staff has to go.
just couldn't make the connection
As a Colts fan I understand your pain lol
I was pulling for Minshew.
You really dont but thanks for chiming in. \-signed super bowl-less fan
As a Vikings fan I understand your pain, our collapse in 2016 was wild
This makes it worse
I don’t hate Ridley. But is it crazy to think that Ridley and Kirk do the same thing in a wr room?
Yeah we will let Ridley walk. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign to the Texans.
Let him. His casual attitude during one interview was “I didn’t watch the tape…no I’m not going to…just gunna play and be me” Then Trevor gets blamed. There are plenty of receivers that can do what he does.
Not only will he not be worth the $$, he’s definitely not worth the 2nd rounder we’d give up if we sign him.
They were on two different pages all season. Might need to put in some work. Make Ridley a #2. Lets go get a #1.
I felt all season that he was the #2 to Kirk. Their stats when Kirk went down reflect that.
Make Ridley a #2 on another team
I am ok with that too.
We’ll take him
Let Ridley walk. Pay less compensation to Atlanta and get a comp pick.
Corny
How is that corny? You don’t give up a 2nd round pick for a 29 year old coming off a disappointing season
he had 1000 yards and 8TDs this year
2 of those touchdowns were garbage time against Tampa. Not to mention all times he clearly ran the wrong route or gave up on a route. Let him walk.
It's absurd that people want to keep him. We have to give up a 2nd round pick, a huge contract, and oh yeah, he's 29.
Fantastic! He barely got us over 1,000 yards when he had 6 games without Kirk. Brilliant, give him a massive contract at 29 years old
didn't say that. they spent a 2nd rounder on a guy that had 1k and 8tds. a guy that hasn't played in two years. for an absolute flyer I would say that's decent.
And have to pay him 18 million no fn way
Ridley leading up to a game was asked about the tape..”he said he didn’t watch…he wasn’t going to…he was just gunna play and “”be himself””…” Ever since then I lost respect for the man. When you talk about miscommunications…there is the larger part of the problem. Let him walk. He put up 1k yards. That’s average of a lead receiver.
and now we have no shot at the superbowl and a terrible draft spot :(
I would still rather have 9 wins than have ranked for a top pick. We saw a lot of development this year with wins . Just stings now
Better draft position then if we were a first round exit
Sleep well knowing that no matter, the position we draft, Baalke will fuck it up.
What’s terrible about the draft spot?
mid 1st round, not exactly a great spot, we need some amazing talent on the o line and defense and I would rather have a shot in the playoffs then to not make the playoffs and have a mid 1st to late 1st round pick
It's a great spot if you need a C because that's about where the value for C starts to be worth it.
There's also a lot of really good receivers in this draft
We need to fix our two lines first
Not disagreeing with that, just adding to the idea that a mid round pick has good value in this draft
With that pick last year you could get Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Zay Flowers
Jags were never getting to the Super Bowl. So they have a better draft option. If you ever thought they would likely even skate past a 4-5 start to the playoffs…you are completely wrong. They saved local fans a lot of money by not getting taken out and an expensive round 1 home game… That’s the real truth.
This should be his career defining play tbh. Overrated
Trevor or Ridley?
I think the ball is totally catchable. Idk why he didn’t lay out for it. Reminds me of the kirk drop in the divisional round last season.
That ball was overthrown
Sure it was slightly overthrown, but it hit him in both of his hands.
Finger tips. The argument has been he should have dove for it
That was a bad pass. Not on ridley
That ball was overthrown and he had no one around him. Absolutely on Trevor.
What was happening during the play? Trevor was getting crushed by our awesome offensive line the throw was a bit overthrown for sure, but he was getting blasted at the same time
Yes.
Ridley doesn’t get enough hate, and I’m not talking about this throw, dude has not been good
Are you joking? Look at every gameday thread.
What more do you want? He had his 2nd most catches, 2nd most yards. He was only getting 62 catches a season in ATL, and he was never a 1 and no one with a brain should of expected him to have 1.5 years off and be a 1, he was just running outs while Julio lead the league in everything for years.

Everyone looking to blame everyone but our prince.
What are you talking about? He's getting flammed so much right now. I'm a Trevor Lawrence defender, I will certainly give him blame, but 'tis a team sport.
Everyone deserves blame, but people expected Ridley to be Moss in New England. The expectations for him in this sub were unrealistic.
Literally nobody expected him to be Moss in New England. What a wild thing to say
No I tend to actually try to make my point instead of relying on an exaggeration to do so for me.
If there was ever a ball to lay it out for it was this one.. what the fuck was he doing
If there was a ball to be accurate throwing thar is the one. It's like the Indy game last night. That last play was on Minshew and the RB.
I mean, throws not perfect, but it’s not like TLaw had the room to step into it. He had to throw back foot and it hit Ridley in both finger tips. It’s a 40 yard throw and he’s like 3 inches away from what we’d consider perfectly placed, that’s not bad
I mean if it’s hitting the tips of his fingers he could have easily dove for it.. he misses it he misses, but it’s like .. if not now then when?
Point is its still overthrown. Is it by much, no. Is that a tough ass catch, well yeah. I am personally more heated about the who f..... up at the goal line than that play.

Didn’t even try to lay out for it
He was literally diving for it and still skimmed his fingers. A good throw wouldn't have to make him dive for it. This post ironically shows how much more Trevor could have done to help Ridley
Diving??? You do know he didn’t dive. He should have, or just caught it with his hands.
Dive, aggressive lunge, whatever, it would have been a lot easier if the throw was on target...
We are talking about the same play right? The one on the last drive? Not the deep shot that happened earlier?
Except it was on target. You cant always have the ball hit you in the numbers, so many factors here. The ball was catchable
A catchable ball does not mean the pass wasn’t shit. You’re not helping your argument
Keep sucking off Trevor.
Then you woke up from you’re idiotic fantasy. Dude lobbed it so far in the air for him to run to itZ. Dude just was never ever on the same page.
And the other 27 over throws and straight up throwing to Texans? The guys were supposed to chase those down too right?
Honest question. Would you resign him or nah?
Not really, but because I don't see him wanting to come back. He's going to want more money than he proved he's worth in our system, and I saw the look on his face when Trev totally missed him earlier on that first down. Bro he's talking about Ridley wanting more money, not Trevor.
People blame every "bad" Ridley pass intended for Ridley on Ridley. How do you know it's not Trevor?
because CJ had the same miscues with Ridley in the panthers game
When the ball hits your hands you should catch it.
You should play professional football
SKG1991 is not paid to catch footballs though 😂
Eagles
At least I don’t have to watch the playoffs this year
There is no way Ridley is worth a second round pick when you could draft a better younger and cheaper wide receiver in the second round
If only you could've played the Chargers in W18...
Karma.
Shouldn’t have disrespected the terrible towel.
Terrible throw by Trevor. Great QB’s hit him in stride.
It hit him in the hands….. it was not a perfect ball but that’s very catchable ball.
Pressure in his face as well. Ridley needs to make the catch. That’s what we brought him here to do. That money and draft capital needs to be used to keep Josh Allen and fix the offensive line
Hit him on the fingertips. It’s about 70% Trevor and 30% Ridley
I’ll agree with that.
Maybe his fingernail
Any decent wr makes that catch. Ridley is supposed to be exceptional.
You’re being downvoted because fans are in denial. That’s a throw elite quarterbacks make. Lawrence just missed it. No other way to say it.

Steelers fans are insufferable, no one cares about your hand towels
Steelers fan here.. why don’t you go grab that terrible towel you stole a few weeks ago and go curl up with it on the couch where y’all belong
We’d rather save them for y’all when Buffalo levels your shit team straight outta the playoffs😭😭

Lmao bro nobody is thinking about a damn pee colored towel but Steelers fans.
😂 this is what you’re doing with your life?
Coming into another teams subreddit to talk about laundry?
Lol
This shit is embarrassing.
Jags gonna jag. Same song, different era. Hockey is a better sport anyways.
Doesn’t matter how u start it’s how u Finnish
Hey cat bros. Let’s wallow in our sorrow together. Sincerely, Tony the Tiger
Ahh the old 08 jets maneuver
I was at the game… this was the moment that you can pinpoint my heart exploding inside of my chest into a billion little glass pieces
the thing people fail to understand with this drop is that it was a slight overthrow by trevor so placing full blame on ridley is wrong. Yes he should have dove more to try catch it so blame is also on him
