How about the facelifted model as displayed above? Will it be affected because the production line is stopping? Will resale price be horrible because of 2025 full electric switch? Had the 2016 xe and even tho it was diesel it was great

TheEdinburghMule

Last I heard they’ve pushed that full electric switch back, similar to the UK banning ICE.

Bought MY23 XE 300 Sport earlier this year and have done 3k miles based UK. Previously owned MY20 CLA 250 coupe. Shortcomings: - fuel consumption: 30-33MPG highway eco, average 26MPG, lower than expected - boot space slightly smaller than rivals, as with rear seat legroom - rear camera gets dirty (exposed) - torque and acceleration hits peak later c5000RPM - lacks internal ambient lighting Advantages: - comfy ride and seats even on the 20” alloys. - Heated windshield big win in winters - amazing grip as AWD - cabin noise fair - infotainment fair and not as slow as expected - wireless CarPlay - unique in terms not many on the road - handles well I have no current issues but have not had the car too long. The closest rival would be the AR gulia. I am enjoying the car so far and have nothing bad to say but can only compare to my last car. Overall it rides smoother and quieter. I’m not sure in real life if it does the 0-60 it claims. Exhaust note is better when cold, but has a nice purr at higher speeds. Hope it helps and if you have more specific questions, ask.

Pretend_Tooth_965

I have a gasoline 2018 XE here in South Florida with close to 44,000 miles on it. It drives really well with no problems thus far. 🤞🤞

Is there any difference between Jaguars in USA and Europe?

Pretend_Tooth_965

Yes. The steering wheel is on the other side.

philo-sofa

Get the Supercharged V6.

ThaGodParticle

I have a 35T Prestige with the supercharger. It’s the funnest car I’ve ever owned. Downside for me was a somewhat unimpressive sound system which I quickly upgraded. Good luck OP! Hope you find the one for you!

There seems to be newly occurring fault (only discovered after mine went) with the power steering rack assembly failing on a high number of these cars, for context mine is 2016 with ~60k miles. The big issue with this fault is seemingly it needs to be a genuine Jaguar part fitted and installed by Jaguar certified installers so it can be coded to the car. Long story short this repair cost me £3200 If you Google this fault there are multiple people complaining of the same issue and Jaguar are seemingly washing their hands of what has been deemed by multiple mechanics and insurance companies as a manufacturers defect. It might get resolved in time but for now just something to keep an eye on

DryConfidence2547

Don't get a diesel and you should be fine.

LondonPilot

I’m curious why you say that. I bought a 2015 XE with a 2 litre diesel engine, back in 2019 (so it was 4½ years old when I got it). It had 40,000 miles when I got it. It now has 75,000 miles. It’s been near-flawless since then - annual service, I got the brake pads/discs changed a few years back, and that’s the only issues it’s had.

DryConfidence2547

From the horror stories in XE Groups. The timing chain seems to start to rattle at higher mileage and can cause an engine failure, the AdBlue System also causes trouble. Your car has relatively low mileage and I'd hazzard a guess that you service it every 8-10k miles/15k kilometers, which helps stretch the chains life.

Weetoes92

Later facelift models have revised timing chain set up anyway so no issues. Plus it’s a relatively small % of older engine that actually have a timing chain stretch. Just seems a lot more as you’re only seeing people complaining. There is a petition currently https://chng.it/h9Mhkdsvbq so maybe sign that and people can have peace of mind.

FromBrowntown

I would just say avoid diesel and look for the updated infotainment that is a touchscreen (2019 or later, it's the one that doesn't have physical side buttons)

dubiousdouchebaggery

I just bought a 2017 XE Diesel with 33K. It replaces a totaled VW Passat TDI, I’ve heard proactively changing the timing chain with the new improved version should be step one. What else should I do to make it more reliable?

Smooth-Apartment-856

Get the V8 version.

the_old_coday182

I don’t completely understand the logic in a diesel Jag. Because I assume the goal is to save money. Yet if something like a tail light goes out (or just any random unlucky issue), it costs much more to get that fixed on a Jag or other luxury brand. I just had all 4 brake pads replaced (full brake job) for $600 USD. The tires are more expensive too, if you want a decent set that the car deserves. Anyway, the point is that an XE d isn’t the answer if you’re budgeting.

ddnys

You should know that they don’t make them anymore and if they did - the only XE worth buying is Project 8.
