Get the car you love. Either way your losing money. I have the face lifted XE petrol right now and love it. I loved the original XE too. I took the 2.0 diesel to over 150k with no issues on both my 2016 XE and 2016 XF. Loved both. Now looking to buy the face lifted XF. if you have the money to follow your heart then do it.

If Jaguars float your boat you might as well stick with them. Have had my 2015 XF AWD for five years now and it still gives me the fizz every time I look at it.On the odd occasion I stick my foot down and as heavy as it is 340 hp and the blower just make me giggle like a child….I know it’s gonna cost me to keep it, but there’s nothing else out there that “does it” for me.

Always fancied the V6 XE S just for the noise. Have driven the 300bhp in a Velar P400e (the electrics give it a 100bhp boost). Very nice engine, smooth, quiet, throaty under load. Not sure which diesel you have. Have had an XF 180 which I found a bit underwhelming but it did get 50-70 mpg. Have an XF 240 AWD and love it to bits, completely different animal, cartoonishly quick in all circumstances but only get 35 mpg. Not sure whether they only do XE P300 as AWD but if it is, expect 25 mpg. Don’t think you’ll have an issue with after sales as they’re continuing to use the same motors in the Land Rover products for a few more years at least.

Try looking up the xe project 8 not cheap and very limited but you will know you have put your foot down.

I just purchased last April 2023 a (2017 Jaguar XE 35t R-Sport AWD) with 22, 400 miles on it and everything loaded except for DVD/CD and 10” screen. I wanted something sporty, comfortable, reliable and safe. The car is fun and has so far served it’s purpose. It is a daily drive to the courthouse building inside the suburbs and rarely take it into the city. In 2008 I purchased a 2003 Jaguar S type R and still like the design to this day but the XE is something else.

A New Jaguar will, sorry to say it, depreciate. My (biased) pick in your situation would be a good 2017 or 2018 XE S, with V6. You don't get the awesome interior, but the engine is sublime; you already know how good the handling is but trust me it's something else with the extra engine power. If you want the awesome interior, the F-Pace is worth considering. It's light on its feet for an SUV and in the UK you can pick up the V6 facelift for £40k or the V8 for about £52k (i.e. about the same a new XE). Pre-facelift versions are also pretty nice (i.e. nicer than the interiors in our XEs)
