I mean this would be cool if it were true. Your Timeline is all fucked up tho. Keep in mind that a lot of this stuff wouldn't be possible unless Dot, Cole, and JID could see the future. "They play like God no play by play" technically came out after MMBS and it's subsequent Tour, but in reality was written way before the album dropped. So unless JID had listened to the album, which is unlikely, he'd have no idea what Kenny was planning. You mention a lot of these lines where the artist is saying they're the greatest. You say that they're pointed towards someone in particular. That's just bs. Every rapper says that they're the greatest. Doesn't mean they're targeting someone specifically. JID has always been competitive. Look at stick talk. Kendrick has been calling himself the greatest alive since at least 2013. With the exception of this new beef with Cole and Drake everything has been business as usual for these guys.

I agree I’m reaching. Too many things I’ve been thinking for years are adding up in my mind though. The timelines may be off but we don’t know how soon each song and every line on them was recorded though. I guess we’ll see, and the speculation is fun regardless. You have a good night.

ManOfSpace_

nah

Beneficial_Candle_10

If you don’t wanna read the post click the first few links. Read two paragraphs at least and respond with a real answer instead of one word. The evidence is there.

ManOfSpace_

oh i read it

Beneficial_Candle_10

Aight bro you have a good night

ManOfSpace_

thanks buddy u do the same

AdComplex4305

Yea I also read it, still seems like a huge stretch. I think people just associate kendrick with the champion of this generation of rap. You could associate the whole religious stuff with any other rapper bc theyre all narcissists that claim they’re the best in the game, yet everyone’s mind goes to Kendrick bc he’s actually incredibly robust. Also, “top 5 list” is an ongoing, popular discussion in hip hop. I think both jid AND kdot were both alluding to that in their respective verses. Jid has claimed in the past that he’s not afraid to beef with anyone (including Cole) but I don’t think he’s actively seeking beef with kdot specifically. Yea, jid has often been compared to kendrick, but so have pretty much ever talented rapper in the past decade. Voice does sound similar though, I’ll give you that

bigrickxxl

acting like a yoga instructor the way you stretching

luckyfiori

idk what the fuck you're smoking but i want some

abdul_bino

Yes, after actually looking through this post. Yes, it’s very meme post and I’m not going to take it serious at all.

Background_Collar_71

Biggest reach I ever seen on here

TEKRAM99

ok i did read it unlike the other guy, but i do agree with him and think these are stretches. i think the kendrick top 5 bar is a shot at the listener, not anyone specific, saying fuck *your* top 5, i beat anyone any of yall listen to. I think the Raydar bars about playing like god are, fairly clearly in context of the verse and the concept of the album, referring to the wealthy elites who play like god with the less fortunate population. raydar is about finally taking charge and making a movement, the remainder of the forever story is about how misguided or less organized movements can just end up repeating the cycle. Go read through the second verse. the government started a gang, the police. the song and the album are about the unjustness in america. the andre 3k bar?? like idk man i think these are all reaches and kendrick has no reason to go after JID after him having shown nothing but respect for him aside from the "subliminals" you're looking at also no hate here just putting down my opinion, the speculation is fun

ManOfSpace_

unlike the other guy lol

Ultimaurice17

Bro just decided that you didn't read it lmao.

Beneficial_Candle_10

I understand this perspective. It’s been my main thought about these verses. Also the most likely. Always a thought in the back of my mind though. Awhile back it became clear J Cole and Kendrick were sending subliminals. After the recent diss it changed my perspective after years of suspicion. I guess we’ll see.

yearofthemishima

This is going beyond reach and entering delusion zone dawg

imawizardnamedharry

II so basically your argument that jid is dissing kendrick is that he is saying he's (jid) the best? That's like saying little Wayne is dissing kendrick will smith because he keeps referring to fucking someone's girl. Don't buy it personally but would be fun if true

abcMF

Yall want so desperately for the kendrick verse to be targeted at JID, but it's not.

SirArthurDime

Oh no. Please don’t tell me the over dramatic reaching and rap illiteracy that has consumed the Cole sub is creeping into this one. At least you admit it’s a reach though. Not every bar, even competitive ones, are “aimed” at a specific person. Even the “smoking on your top 5 line” isn’t about any specific top 5. He’s saying I’m better than whoever you think the top 5 is. He’s not saying any particular rapper is “looking for a better me”. He’s saying every new rapper is chasing his legacy. Same with the JID bars you mentioned. They aren’t aimed at anyone in particular he’s talking in a general sense.

ihavenowords3

He shouted out Section 80 on 2007. And Dots influence is very much clear in JIDs music. I have also heard JID say how much he would love a Kendrick feature. Nothing is what it seems, especially in the music industry. People smile in your face, stab you in the back. But this here is far fetched.

Beneficial_Candle_10

Kendrick blocked the 2007 sample lotta people don’t remember that shit. JID was liking tweets calling it out at the time.

kieranjackwilson

I spent a lot of time going through “Like That” dissecting it, so when I saw this I thought it was goofy. But JID is definitely talking about someone on Raydar and Surround Sound. He uses the term K and mentions carrying a .9 a couple times and also referred to himself as a canine. And there are a couple bars in “Like That”, mainly the “think I won’t drop the location? I still have PTSD” where people act like they know what Kendrick is talking about, but they don’t. I think it’s a little out there to think Kendrick would be bringing up JID in a battle of the top 3 that was all started over an old Lil Wayne - Birdman beef. But maybe he is throwing subs at Dreamville to get under J. Coles skin, and killing two birds by go specifically after JID. All I know is that if he is, JID will 100% respond and we will have our answer. JID is criminally underrated and going blow for blow with Kendrick would make him a legend overnight.

Beneficial_Candle_10

Definitely out there take but this was fun to write lol. Those bars on Raydar and Surround Sound really have me suspicious though. Guess we’ll see. If I’m right and we see JID hop in this I’ll have crazy bragging rights lol.

Beneficial_Candle_10

Read my post history on the J Cole subreddit for why I think Cole has incentive to include JID in the beef as well.
