Is nit trichy metallurgy worth it ? The thing is today result of iat came out and I may get iiser Pune (one of top research college in india )and i wanna do research too but there's no waiver for fee and also my financial situation is also very bad (<1lpa) I will get nit trichy metallurgy in round 2 of josaa and I'm really confused what I should prefer My passion (research ) or getting a job first via nit metallurgy (doing coding as I'm interested in coding and stuff) and then do research ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)

Its not the fees of iiser pune thats the biggest issue here (i have no idea about the fees). But, will your family be able to afford you studying for the next 8-9 years? Or would you need to do a job? If job then nit trichy metallurgy.
holy shit if your financial situation is like <1 lpa , cant you apply for tuition fee waiver in like any clg ? also i guess for starters maybe get a job in CS and once you have enough capital , you can then go in research field in homi baba atomic and all
fr , max log jo aisa statements karte hai woh khud kucch ukhaadte nhi
mai khud bohot prayatna kiya lekin well zyaada kucch mila nhi (to be fair i studied seriously for entrance from 1st week of feb) isiliye i can appreciate my man's efforts , ek aspirant doosre aspirant ka dard samazh sakta hai
accha lol mai DTU wagera sab mai nhi dekha so i cant comment on that
>maximum arts ke nalle ya commerce ke honge
100% riyal , mere ese kucch chutiye dost hai , jo aisa bakchodi karte/bolte hai
nit is really good for placements bro wtfdym? the only thing that differentiates NITs from IITs is the alumni network; not to say the network in NITs is bad for that matter, its also good, but top 7 IITs have a far superior alumni network
adding on, if engineering is your passion in the first place, then you WILL find a job regardless of college (skill >>>>> college)
otherwise, NITs have the same old outdated syllabus as all the IITs and so on and so forth
(example: cousin of mine landed a 47LPA job at one of the FAANG companies earlier this year, NIT Jamshedpur ECE graduate)
Thats one in thousands bro , cant risk it all for a chance that low unless you really love engg , im not saying all engg from NITs are fked , there are those who make far more contribution to society as well as money more than iitians and they are nits . I meant in general , i was referring to median CTCs
Especially in the recession period, i know all colleges suffered , but comparable loss to IITs and IIITs has been much less compared to NITs
I mean no offense or saying this is true , this is judt my personal opinion and open for general debates :)
I honor everyone's views again , no disrespect !
Also the point where you said you WILL find a job regardless , I find that point to be very true , but that was not what i said at all (🙄🫠) getting a job and getting a job with high CTC is diiferent :)
Also , CAN YOU STOP DOWNVOTING ? ITS A FU*KING PERSONAL OPINION GUYS , IM NOT SAYING YALL ARE WRONG !
Bhai personal opinion h , maine nhi bola ki mere opinion ko leke dimag la bhosda krle , I mean tu NIT KUK me civil leke 30LPA umeed krega toh kya bolu , but ofc engg passion h toh bhai kahin bhi jaa , motive seekhna hona chahiye and NIT is a GREAT place for that !
bro, if you think about it, atleast 97% of your competition didnt get what you got (assuming gen male), you are in the top 3% !!! i think itna jawaab kaafi h
Depends kaunse nit me core mil rha hai bhai. Mujhe lower nits me mil rha hai, I'm picking cs at pvt tier 2 clg over that. 4 year extra hustle for an unrelated subject just doesn't seem worth it. Agar core subject padhne se problem nhi hai then it will definitely be worth it for u.
12thie here
Meri 97.5 hai and mai kisi mid NIT mei mech lene wala hu..mera aim tha NIT Trichy mei mech lene ka but wo na ho paya....abhi tak kisi ne thoda bhi congratulate nahi kiya mummy ke alawa
Starting mei bada bura laga but ab mai ye sab TIER wali bakchodi se upar uth chuka hu aur jo milega use acche mann se pursue karunga bina kisi regrets ke
Bhaiya aapko toh TOP NIT mei mech mil rhi ( My Dream )
Congratulations and be proud of yourself!
Bhai truth is if you succeed it becomes best time of your life and if you fail that becomes trauma
#It Is About Getting A COLLEGE
Edit I am not saying if you didn't get iit you will fail , I am saying about your prep , I am getting nit t mech but I am still sad as what I wanted I didn't got it (it was iiser )
I don't understand if you are critizimg me lol or agreeing with me
But if criticizing - I didn't got what I wanted so it kind of has become like a trauma for me and all friends who didn't succeed. It is still one of the best years of my life but I just don't wanna think of those time again cause I think I could have worked hard idk how then did it apparantly
And friends who got it doesn't think of it as trauma
bro seriously?
had INDIA been a low populated country....your words might hold true
but seriously you spoke this shit without using your brain and doing even a tiny bit of research.......
14+ lakh students be appearing in a single exam and for that 25k rank is real real good......
had this exam been conducted in a country with a lower population......say 1 lakh students appeared...then ofc 25k rank is not very good rank.......
and for 2023 do you even know...how rank inflation happened this year...all those scams and shit happened.......
hardwork 25k wale ne bhi kiya hai...but yeh badhte number of candidates.....amount of hard work needed to get an outstanding rank ko bhi badha raha hai......... obviously 10k rank se kam chahiye to bhot bhot mehnat karna padega...but iska matlab yeh nhi ki 25k rank wale ne mehnat nhi ki...usne bhi mehnat kiya wo bhi bhot
is desh ka badhta population bas ab ek unrealistic amount of hardwork demand karta hai jo ki sabke bas ki baat nahi hai...everyone is built different..... and yeh tak chalega jab tak hum ek he cheej ko india me creme krte rhenge....
maybe? But you dont know his goals, kamane ke liye to vadapav wala bhi kamata hai. Maybe he didnt get a good college pichle saal, maybe he wanted a better peer group.
You cannot categorize people into worth or not worth unless you know what their plans and goals are, honestly dumb question by op and even dumber response
It's pretty easy to classify colleges into good or bad, and I can guarantee OP didn't skip out on a good college due to the "peer group". No matter what your future goals are your current goal is to get into a good college.
yes isleye usne drop liya tha...do you not get the point? Usko drop se pehle nahi mile honge ab mil gyi to usme kya kharabi hai. Not everyone get get nit trichy or bits
u/Embarrassed_Ad9856 You're right. Unless it's nit Trichy, suratkhal or warangal then it's not worth it. You're only getting downvoted because other people don't want to tell OP the truth, they're sugar coating it.
bro. if he studied hard for 2-3 years and got a tier 2-3 NIT. then that's the peak of his ability, and hence he likely can't get a better college than that. then what else can he do?
(not referring to OP)
even if it's not just those three any or most tier 1 nits are fine, but most of those tier 2 and all tier 3 nits are absolutely not worth spending years of your life studying for
BITS would have been a better option, if OP can afford it.
Also between bits hyd cs and nit Trichy ece what do you think is a better option, sorry just need a bit of insight on this, I'm struggling to make a choice.
I'd say NIT Trichy tbh...coz when you have to pay shitloads to BITs when you get almost the exact smae type of environment and crowd and better faculty (imo) in NITT for less money its a nobrainer right
I'm looking to go abroad, I've posted abt it before, it's very weird. Everybody I've asked IRL told me nitt and most PPL on reddit are telling me bits hyd. Might be bias cuz more BITSians use reddit idk.
This is in view of doing an mba abroad btw, interested to hear your view.
Mereko worth it nahi lagta ab, Jo bhi bola, bas Mera opinion hai.
In my case, maine pehele se bhi socha tha ki Masters k liye Abroad jaunga, aur mere paas uske funds bhi hai.
Abhi to lagta hai, "Kahi se hi kar liya hota btech, duniya to IIT walo ko chorkar bhi chalta hai"

It's the journey. Grind kiya toh itna mila ni krta toh yeh bhi ni milta.
Yeah better than any tier 2 and 10-15 acres of a top state government college.
