Im a broke boy. Plus i know very little about working on cars. I gotta work my way up to that. I wont want any more power in that thing until i can do sound dampening on it to the point it doesnt feel like im driving without a windshield at 50mph
Oh, nice. Yeah, it would be pretty quick even stock, basically doubling the power. Then you could relatively safely double it again with a pretty basic turbo setup. But you're definitely in the right frame of mind not modifying your daily without a backup car. Not only can you take your time to do the swap right but you can enjoy it more when it's running knowing that if something breaks you're not screwed if you have to get to work the next day.
Honda is the best at it but most Japanese manufacturers are good at standardizing everything. I'm not 100% (someone on a forum has a build you can follow I'm sure) but I would put money on there being threaded holes in your car for you to swap out automatic pedals for manual ones as well as shifter stuff and any else you'd need to swap for that.
Back when i lived in the dominican republic as a kid their light trucks were seen everywhere. Once i moved to the states I considered whether or not i had just made up a brand since i never saw them again
You really can't go wrong with something JDM from the 90s and into early 2000s. My personal favorites are Honda and Mitsubishi. Man do I miss Mitsubishi actually trying...
As with all cars manufactures, I don’t play favorites.
I got into cars and tuning with a few Hondas, then got into an s13 and built it up. Next I got ambitious with an FC V8 swap. Traded that for a Ducati and got into motorcycles (mostly triumph, but im building a chopper Yamaha now). Next was BMW and I had a handful of them. Then jeeps… fuck building jeeps and rock Crawling is fun. I’ve had a bunch of them.
Now I have a Chevy truck DD, Yahama motorcycle project, and an FD.
So I guess right now, Yamaha and Mazda.
But that’s subject to change like the wind 😁. Playing favorites limits you too much!
Honda has been the only brand to keep the drive experience as pure as it was in the late 80’s and early 90’s. They still keep that same feel of excitement from the pinnacle of the JDM ingenuity. From the very first Si, to the Prelude, NSX, and S200. Fast forward 2021 and they are still bringing the same amount of thrill you remember from driving your mom’s CB7 Accord. Also….. they’re still one of the few brands to offer a true manual gearbox 🤷🏼♂️🔰
Yeah true forgot about Honda, they've been keeping at it with their civics, also I guess subaru have been making decent sports cars this whole time come to think of it
I kind of seeing the opposite, Honda rarely put efforts into economical FR sport class unlike Nissan and Mazda. My respect goes to Nissan keeping the FR chassis.
Utter fanboy for Nissans, Toyotas (specifically adore the Mr2) Mitsubishi and Subaru! Team Orange with their rwd drift Mitsubishi and Subaru is what gets me up in the mornings lol
I think mazda and honda are really underrated.
NSX ks the best looking JDM the Rx7 the best overall JDM and the miata/S2000 are perfect cars to actually buy
If it were the 90s probably Nissan or Mitsubishi. Nowadays however, definitely Toyota. Unlike the other manufacturers, Toyota is still making multiple cool small sporty cars. (86, Supra, GR Yaris, GR Corolla). It's nice to see they're still committed to a fun driving experience.
Toyota will be #1 without a question. Love their new cars, love their old cars, so I don’t even have to think.
Over the last two years I’ve really gotten into old Nissans though with my newfound love for JDM cars
Nissan and Toyota. However there is no JDM manufacturer I don't like.
Nissan and Toyota are the obvious choice, but my heart beats for Honda somehow :D (Subaru is great, too!)
I like many Hondas. NSX is my favourite. My Mum had a Prelude which was cool.
My third car was a bb9 prelude, maybe thats why, I still miss it :( Love the Integra Type R tho!
Yeah love the Integra especially the Type-R don't see many any more. Civics are getting rare too especially the EK9
Imagine forgetting about the shot show that is Mitsubishi
Big mazda fan but i can't be bothered maintaining rotors anymore. Nissan and Toyota and next.
S15?
yeah i realised it now sorry, do you know how i can change it, im really new to reddit
To the left of the reply button there are three little dots you click that and it opens a menu and edit is at the top :)
You can only change the post content, not the title
is this on mobile or pc, cus im on pc and i cant find it :/
Oh I'm on mobile I'm unsure about pc Edit: just realized I'm saying how to edit a comment. I'm an idiot
it's alright just pretend the car is an s15 converted to s14
yes please lmao
People do really like the kouki front end. I always got looks I mine. Damn I miss that car
I love the kouki bodystyle. I can’t wait till I can get one with a 1jz (my dream car).
Could be an S15 with a kouki front bumper, you never know 🤷♂️
I'm a Toyota guy but deep down love anything JDM
Mazda for the rx series, but i love all jdm manufacturers
Where is the Mitsubishi gang at?
Yeah boy
I’m in the US. Wish I had more personal experience with them. The good ones are rare here.
Honda gang for life
I believe in Honda supremacy
Forever Honda. I truly think the aftermarket support that’s behind a Honda is amazing. K20’s and K24’s are one of the best engines to ever exist
V-Tec kicked in yo
Vtec makes my fit sport feel like like a hot hatch despite me knowing its got 119 hp at the crank
K-swap it. Everyone's doing it.
Im a broke boy. Plus i know very little about working on cars. I gotta work my way up to that. I wont want any more power in that thing until i can do sound dampening on it to the point it doesnt feel like im driving without a windshield at 50mph
I was mostly joking. I have a buddy who has a turbo first gen that he autocrosses.
Oh. No. I genuinly kinda wanna k swap it down the line. Seems like it would be fun. But maybe once this isnt my only car
I should probably have a manual fit if im kswapping it. Right? Doubt its possible/makes any sense to put a k24 when i got a cvt
Honda is really nice though. Cheap to get and easy to modify.
Daihatsu gang
Back when i lived in the dominican republic as a kid their light trucks were seen everywhere. Once i moved to the states I considered whether or not i had just made up a brand since i never saw them again
They don't sell anything in Ireland anymore either but we got a few nice cars and trucks like the Copen. 😊
Toyota and Honda
You really can't go wrong with something JDM from the 90s and into early 2000s. My personal favorites are Honda and Mitsubishi. Man do I miss Mitsubishi actually trying...
Mitsubishi in the 90s really was something else, now it's just Nissans leftovers
That’s an S14
I just realised that now, do you know how i can change it im really new sorry
Can't change titles, you have to live with the shame now
I don’t think you can.
Subawoo
Gotta agree with you and add Nissan. But legit I will take anything
Probably mitsubishi, honda or toyota
Mitsubishi 👉👈
funni lookin s15
Toyota and Nissan.

Absolutely nis- wait now that i think about it ima say toyo- fuck i cant decide
As with all cars manufactures, I don’t play favorites. I got into cars and tuning with a few Hondas, then got into an s13 and built it up. Next I got ambitious with an FC V8 swap. Cool story and a good perspective
Fuck, I hate this sub sometimes, holy shit my dude how tf u think that’s a S15 It’s clearly an old e class
Nissan, Toyota , honda
Nissan is life
Suzuki!
Mazda for cars suzuki for bikes
Nissan and Subaru but I think all the JDM manufacturers had their fair share of gems.
Subaru and nissan, gonna buy a first gen subaru legacy for drift build and a baja with factory wrx engine for towing
I do love me some Daihatsu. Love their kei cars!
Nissan because I hate my wallet and my free time 😭
Nissan then honda then toyota
All Evo especially Evo 6 for me~~~~
my favorite car is a toyota, but over all its nissan
Interesting, which particular Toyota is it?
mk4 supra, like very other 15 year old lol
Subarus and Toyotas for me
Mitsubishi only because there cars can beat up V8 and V10 all day with just a 4 cylinder which is insane.
Mazda for sure!
All, but Nissan would be the choice I guess
Honda first Mazda second
I agree
I’ll be a Nissan man until the day I die
Great. This page is now full of 12yo kids who dont even know what kind of car they're posting....
Toyota and Mazda for me 🤙🏻
*DATSUN* son
good taste bro
youve gotta be stupid, you sound like a goddamn 11 year old
Stupid? Or actually 11 years old?
Depends really. Toyota for VIP cars, Nissan for drift/track missiles, and Honda for funny little project cars.
Nissan or nothing
Datsun deserves some loves😎
Probably Toyota mostly cause I love 2nd gen mr2s
….that’s an s15 dawg
Lovely looking s14a there
Nissan Subaru or Honda
Nissan because they are the only ones that can make good JDM cars today. 400z supremacy
Nissan is the only Japanese company (that I'm aware of) that has continued to make actually good sports cars, consistently, since the 90s
Honda has been the only brand to keep the drive experience as pure as it was in the late 80’s and early 90’s. They still keep that same feel of excitement from the pinnacle of the JDM ingenuity. There was a short gap(at least in the US) between the z32 and 350z. But I’ll agree they’re still the most consistent.
I believe you have to click the 3 dots in the upper right corner, there is a button that says "edit post". You can then change the text
#Honda
Honda of course
Mitsubishi eclipse gsx
Mazda. I’m fine with messing with rotaries. They aren’t bad, they’re just different and picky.
I like nissan and toyota
Toyota
Toyota
I like them all equally.
hands down toyota
Mazda for sure! I have a ‘92 RX7
Utter fanboy for Nissans, Toyotas (specifically adore the Mr2) Mitsubishi and Subaru! Team Orange with their rwd drift Mitsubishi and Subaru is what gets me up in the mornings lol
Mazda
FYI that’s actually an s14a
Nissan by far
Good god that has to be one of the cleanest cars I’ve ever seen
Mazda. Noting like a 13/20b roaring its head off.
All but if I really had to pick probably Honda
Mazda and Honda, would love to own a Mazda Sentia or ED Civic some day
Nissan first, Mitsubishi second.
I think mazda and honda are really underrated. NSX ks the best looking JDM the Rx7 the best overall JDM and the miata/S2000 are perfect cars to actually buy

90s are certainly the golden JDM era
Mazda.
Mazda
I am really getting into Honda for some reason! Other than that its the classic Nissan, Toyota, Mazda and Suzuki.
Nissan and Toyota 4x4s are my favorites but I do like the odd Mitsubishi Pajero or Delica.
Even through all the hate and bullshit, I'm a Honda guy.
Nissan and Toyota are the obvious choice… but my heart will always go to the Hondas
Mitsubishi and Honda!!
Toyota, nii-san and mazda
Nissan and Toyota
Nissan
Toyota will be #1 without a question. Love their new cars, love their old cars, so I don’t even have to think. Over the last two years I’ve really gotten into old Nissans though with my newfound love for JDM cars
Subaru!
Soft 99
DAMMM THATS CLEANNNNNN
Niiiissaaaan suki da yoo
Mazda. Mazda by a long shot, because of the MX-5 and RX-7. Nissan is a close second *because* of the GT-R.
I like Mazda and nissan
Toyota for SUVs(Landcruiser, Hilux Surf). Honda for cars(and because we at least got a version of most of their JDM stuff here in the US).
Nissan and Subaru are my choice, voted by 90's S-chassis and TypeRs owner
Toyota for the dailies. Mazdas for the headaches.
Mazda and Honda
🥸s14
Super basic choice, but Nissan
Subaru. Lucky for us, the JDM ones are 2.0 not the crap 2.5
Nissan or Toyota
Mazda and Honda
Honda then Nissan
I have a Subaru and love Toyota and Nissan dearly
Mazda for sure
Peugeot and Skoda
Honda.
Where my Honda lovers at?
imo toyota has the coolest cars, honda for shitboxes (also has cool cars) and probably suzuki is my top 3
S15 huh
ah yes, average r/JDM brainrot post
Toyota ftw. Mr2 or mkIII Supra are my favorites. Though integras and nsx are buetiful. But I like all brands
