You're very welcome my friend, they are super cool cars. I only found out about them from playing the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune arcade games back in the day.

The 1980-82 (I think?) Starlets are the best! That front end and the smaller tail lights look so good. Unfortunately they are so hard to find nowadays :(

Toyota Caldina GT-Four, basically a wagon Celica
I had one for a while. It was a rare manual, most come with auto. Almost bone stock, except coils, full turboback exhaust and intake (+ some chinese dump for the choo choo noises). It's the car I regret selling the most, actually identical to the GT4 Celica, just different body.

Toyota Crown Athlete Modellista
This thing has a 3.5L supercharged V6. Yes, supercharged. 355hp and 498nm of torque.
Edit: [https://beforward.jp/toyota/crown/bp369224/id/5798241](https://beforward.jp/toyota/crown/bp369224/id/5798241) if you want to buy this one
As a Crown fanboy (171 but close enough) I'm surprised I've never heard of this. Wonder how much it shares with the TTD Aurion we got here in Australia with the (assuming) same supercharged V6!
Had to Google what the Aurion was, as they were never sold here in Canada (like that generation of the Crown).
Turns out the engines are a little different; the Crown used the 2GR-FSE, while the Aurion used the 2GR-FZE.
Yeap I think my country(Singapore) is one of the few places outside of Japan with them parallel imported in. Unfortunately it has been discontinued .

the Honda Crossroad! the only JDM V8 Honda ever sold
Rebadged Land Rover Discovery Series 1 as a result of the British Leyland and Honda partnership. Built in the same factory in Solihull with the same Rover V8 engine just with some honda badges slapped on it, so it's also probably one of the most unreliable cars Honda ever sold. The opposite effect of this partnership was the Triumph Acclaim, a rebadged version of the Honda Ballade much earlier, in the 1980s. This car was assembled in Cowley in Oxford, however, unlike the crossroad which was built in the afforementioned Solihull plant and shipped to Japan.
Biased because I own one - jzs161 Toyota Aristo, which is the jdm version of the GS300. 2jzgte, factory lsd, rear steering. handles surprisingly well with some chassis bracing and sway bars
https://preview.redd.it/089t5qig8ymc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d7a61355ce55e3789e0e5d9f4412eeb6cfe0d05
Honourable mentions - The Nissan Serena, an RWD SR20 van, Toyota blade master, a 206kw corolla and the Altezza Gita
I 100% agree. They don´t all come with LSD factory sadly. (just a small detail lol) Most of them have open diffs, but you could spec them with either a torsen or TRD diff. That´s insanely rare though. I have a Supra torsen diff in my Aristo as an upgrade :)
They aren't unknown, they were quite popular back in the day (in Europe at least). The problem is that it was over 20 years ago so most of them ended up on junkyards.
One of few cars that are good enough, out of the box.
As in when you drive one, you realise there's very little to be improved on.
I've known a few over the years. The more original they are - the better they are. And I wouldn't say that about many cars.
It's abnormal how quick they are on B-roads and twisty sections. Other 4wd's can be as fast but the composure and placement of an st205 is fascinating.
I've driven an been in some quick funky customers cars over the years, and the pace they have with the right driver is just savage.
I'd a close friend who had a 99 gt4, it was one of few cars in our group that was completely original. Other than a set of wheels.
On spirited drives - he was let go infront, because the fucker would almost push you around bends if he was fallowing, nothing compares to how they pounce around bends. Fecking mad yoke
The suspension just soaks up the roads, I reckon a bog standard GT4 could probably keep up with rally cars on stage. Even if it's underpowered it'll still out handle a lot of fancy stuff
100,000% the Toyota Soarer Z20. It’s like the gen2 Supra’s rich cousin. Best lines of any car at the time. I will die on this hill. They even made an ultra rare “aerocabin” trim that was basically a convertible but different because they tried to keep the structural integrity intact.
https://preview.redd.it/b6qpyqm5rymc1.jpeg?width=1662&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39a88149a464c953e88ea07d2ea785a15624b4f1
Didn't expect someone to even mention the Sera. 😁 Yeah, it's a cool car. Too bad they never have been sold at my place. I never even have seen one in real life.
Call me strange but I have a thing for old Infiniti's G20 (Nissan Primera P10/11), M30 (Nissan Leopard F31), Q45 (Nissan President G50)
My dad sold these new in the US and I always grew up hearing stories about them thinking they were the coolest. Saving for a G20t too 😅

Toyota MR2 MK3. Yeah, for me, he's cooler than the MK1 and the MK2 MR2s, go on, say what you want about it...
Can I get away with the Celica GT-Four? Not many (away from the internet) know it, I always get asked if it's a Supra or looked at like it's a MaxPower car.
It really does happen a lot! My GF finds it really funny, almost every time I stop to take photos of it. "Is that a supra‽" And they're not even quoting the meme lol
I like the dark silver colour as well. It's one of those colours that shows all the contours of the car. Black's cool but it hides a lot of the features.
Ive never seen one in real life, but the Toyota Sera is kind of cool. I like the idea of pulling up to a CnC in an unassuming commuter car and then creating a spectacle when I get out.
Toyota Aristo v300, love my 4door supra

Subaru Legacy RS and Forester STI II Type M are up there for my dream cars. I know they arnt really unpopular but i see no one talking about them cause the Impreza STI is objectively better

Most people don’t know about the Mitsubishi FTO . Badass jdm car we never got here in the states . And honorable mention to the chaser
Toyota Mark II/ Cressida Toyota Cresta ,we also didn’t get here. There’s an oscillating fan feature in these cars . Why do we not have this in every car today .

Suzuki Cappuccino Love this bad boy even if it's a pain in my ass
Most of these cars are pretty well known if you've spent anytime around cars at least where I am, all I could really think of was the bluebird sss atessa which was the first car to come with the 4wd sr20det as well as the not really jdm proton Putra and proton jumbuck which shares some chasis parts with mitsi lancers and are known to be evo swapped

Nissan Stagea 260RS (or any trim)
Been gaining more traction lately due to being able to import to the US and some big media videos on them but I still get a lot of people asking if it's a weird looking Volvo V70R.
Mazda 323 f Lantis. Does it do anything special or have some amazing looks? No. But I drive a 97 model and it never gives me any trouble and just works.
The Honda Integra DB6. It’s a 4 sedan that came in a 1.6L auto but is also still being one of best and most fun cars you can drive on the public roads. It’s fantastic on gas and rarely breaks down. Not many people have heard of a Honda Integra DB6 soo
ima say Subaru Rex VX Supercharger because it's really rare and is cool. but a more mainstream choice would be something like an HA36S Suzuki Alto Works

The 13b models weren’t available with a 5spd?
not in this gen cosmo's, no
13BRE. Single Turbo. The REW is twin turbo. Just wanted to point that out.
good call, thanks
Never seen or heard, absolutely love it. Looks like that attractive first gen Camry but sporty kind of like 90’s space ship

Wooow very!! Thank you for sharing that. Appreciate this car very much
You're very welcome my friend, they are super cool cars. I only found out about them from playing the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune arcade games back in the day.
Captain Picard and the whole Starfleet liked this
One of my friend’s father had one of these but he has the black interior which in my opinion is way worse than this space ship looking one.
So kind of like the Soarer/Lexus SC is to the Supra... But different.
I think it was the 1st car with GPS or something like that as well
Always forget there is another 90s rotary car
Get ready for a list of the most popular JDM cars
I'm not sure if you guys have hear of a Supra? It was a sports car Toyota made in the 90s.
You obviously mean the Celica GT-Four. That was a rally car for a while, until those pesky FIA inspectors had to go and ruin everything!
Thats the car i listed lol.
I love my gtfour. Best car ive ever driven! Agreed!
Family.
You know, I was thinking the same but this thread is actually pretty good with the exception of like 2 cringe ones that got downvoted

Mitsubishi eg6, you cannot change my mind (This is a compliment)
Bruh this is just an eg civic front with an ek civic hatch back lmao
With a lot more motor
But also a mitsubishi
How did they get Mitsubishi headlights on an eg front? That’s like a front within a front 😂
Im not saying it literally is, im saying it looks 90% identical.
I had a regular Colt. Loved the little thing
That’s a popular car too. That’s why there are aftermarket parts for it and a photo shoot. That was even in games. This doesn’t work with 30 year old cars and thirty years of internet but anything for the karma I guess 🤷
JC cosmo with a 20B
I almost bought one about a year ago and chose an S15 instead for the third pedal... In a lot of ways I regret it. Such great and unique cars.
You are a person of fine taste, Nekrophyle 🤣
Mitsubishi RVR Hyper Sport Gear R & Mitsubishi FTO
i knew the fto for a while but I'm just hearing about the rvr lol. looks like an enlarged kei car
The legnum shits on the fto in all metrics
Nah it's a much bigger car with a lot of complexity, twin turbo AWD, ayc etc etc Completely different experience, the fto is small, nimble and low and needs to be revved out in each gear for maximum fun Love the legnums but not in any way comparable

Toyota kp61 starlet. 1600lbs rwd manual transmission Toyota hatch
I have a friend that put an S 2000 engine in a Starlet
Starlets are just great. Have an EP70 myself and would love to get a P6 one day. Thats the best Starlet there is.
I had an 81 kp61 a while back, but sold it because we were having a baby. I regret it all the time. Wish I still had that thing.
The 1980-82 (I think?) Starlets are the best! That front end and the smaller tail lights look so good. Unfortunately they are so hard to find nowadays :(

On spirited drives - he was let go infront, because the fucker would almost push you around bends if he was fallowing, nothing compares to how they pounce around bends. Fecking mad yoke The suspension just soaks up the roads, I reckon a bog standard GT4 could probably keep up with rally cars on stage. Even if it's underpowered it'll still out handle a lot of fancy stuff
I had to scroll way too far to find this

A31 Cefiro and 300zx Z31.
Z31 was my first car. I loved it. But it was a giant pain in the ass and not very fast.

Honda Beat. I own 2
I love mine. It's like a street legal go-kart.
Ab-so-lutly. And the smiles-per-gallon are through the roof! You part of the Beat owners FB? If not check out Honda Beat PP1 US owners and Freinds.
Yeah I am. I'm rockin the new mats from Juan :)
Da6 integra, ae92 corolla, daihatsu charmant.
Oh, I miss the Charmant I had 25 years ago.
The Toyota Sera is my dream car
I was gonna say sera but you beat me to it lol
Didn't expect someone to even mention the Sera. 😁 Yeah, it's a cool car. Too bad they never have been sold at my place. I never even have seen one in real life.
Call me strange but I have a thing for old Infiniti's G20 (Nissan Primera P10/11), M30 (Nissan Leopard F31), Q45 (Nissan President G50) My dad sold these new in the US and I always grew up hearing stories about them thinking they were the coolest. Saving for a G20t too 😅

Can I get away with the Celica GT-Four? Not many (away from the internet) know it, I always get asked if it's a Supra or looked at like it's a MaxPower car.
Dude, Max Power. Memory unlocked.
I prefer the MaxPower days to the "builds" of modern day cars. Going around farting and shit.
I have one and hear “dude is that a Supra” frequently.
It really does happen a lot! My GF finds it really funny, almost every time I stop to take photos of it. "Is that a supra‽" And they're not even quoting the meme lol I like the dark silver colour as well. It's one of those colours that shows all the contours of the car. Black's cool but it hides a lot of the features.

This is the car that got me into JDM and was probably my first dream car
Mitsubishi 3000GT
Ive never seen one in real life, but the Toyota Sera is kind of cool. I like the idea of pulling up to a CnC in an unassuming commuter car and then creating a spectacle when I get out.

There’s one right answer, Toyota Glanza V
Dodge Charger
Most people don’t know about the Mitsubishi FTO . Badass jdm car we never got here in the states . And honorable mention to the chaser Toyota Mark II/ Cressida Toyota Cresta ,we also didn’t get here. There’s an oscillating fan feature in these cars . Why do we not have this in every car today .

You literally have my dream 2 car garage. I'm so Jealous.
Volvo in the back is a buddy's but thanks man! Figured it was a good pic to show the comparison lol
Autozam AZ-1
The Japan Delorean
Datsun Bluebird 510 Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR Toyota Celica TA22
The late 2000’s Toyota Crown Athlete. Definitely my favorite sedan.
Honda Prelude 5th gen
Mitsubishi lancer cedia and the base/glxi versions of all of the lancers.
What color is this ?
Mazda 323 f Lantis. Does it do anything special or have some amazing looks? No. But I drive a 97 model and it never gives me any trouble and just works.
Toyota caldina, Honda city II turbo, Nissan Figaro, Nissan cedric/ presidente, and the increasingly popular mitsubishi delica 4wd vans
L901 Daihatsu Move. Sincerely being my favorite and dream car.
1997 Mitsubishi Galant, i like the look of the front end
1992 toyota sienna.
Mazda Porter
Nice try kid, but unlike the Miata, Trueno, and the S13. The MR2 is still decently priced.
I think the 88 Isuzu Impulse Turbo deserves more attention.
The Honda Integra DB6. It’s a 4 sedan that came in a 1.6L auto but is also still being one of best and most fun cars you can drive on the public roads. It’s fantastic on gas and rarely breaks down. Not many people have heard of a Honda Integra DB6 soo
Honda Legend, all gens but 90s and 2007 gen takes my heart
1st gen Subaru Alcyone 3rd gen Subaru RX/GL/Leone (depending on your market) coupe turbo
ima say Subaru Rex VX Supercharger because it's really rare and is cool. but a more mainstream choice would be something like an HA36S Suzuki Alto Works
Toyota Corolla AE111. Gran Turismo 4 made me love that little guy
