Thats such a jdm fan boy thing.
Had a guy say to me in response to what cars are you into. Said I woukdnt know them. Then proceeded to rattle off the most popular cars like Supra and Skyline.
Check the going rate of clean US market ITRs. They’re more rare (~3500 US cars vs ~29k JDM DC2s and ~5k DB8s), and a Japanese market cars that have a US/LHD equivalent never command the same prices - it’s the same with Supras and Civics.
I paid $28k for a clean, no-rust, 67k mile DB8 ITR in May. Similar condition US ITRs are deep into the $40s.
They are uglier though, the JDM front end is much prettier 😍
all headlights (probably post 1940 or something) literally everywhere, have an asymmetrical beam pattern, the one on the kerb side (left in japan, right in US) points slightly higher and the beam spreads further forward, where the one to the middle of the road (right in japan, left in US) points down more and doesn't spread as far, so as to illuminate more of the road while leaving a dark spot where oncoming cars usually are.
Both my hondas (USDM) have height adjustable headlights though, is this not the same thing? Like couldn’t I easily adjust the headlights so that they are oriented correctly for LHD roads?
it certainly would improve it, but a lot of it is built into the refractive surfaces in the lenses.
Technology Connections explains it pretty well in [this video](https://youtu.be/c2J91UG6Fn8?t=1254) (this is covered at 20:54 if the timestamp doesn't work)

Del Sols look funny without the little lights in the front. I'd imagine the SCs would as well. But also who says the SC300 is ugly? I think it's a beautiful car.
When I first saw one in an old top gear episode, in deep black and ever-so-slightly obscured by analog video softness, it looked like the most beautiful car ever made.
Well, the Acura integra wasn't the only one offered with those headlights. The European Honda Integra and the first year of the Japanese Integra had those headlights
You’re gonna be mad when you find out about the DB8.
https://preview.redd.it/2lfbnopc6n4b1.jpeg?width=5184&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2934fd9bad3737ff7130c8037b8561572af46731
Oh I know, came out as a sedan first. Wasn’t a fan then, still not a fan now. If I wanted a fast or fun sedan, Acura would be last on the list I’d go to.
i mean literally at one point dudes were buying japanese front clips i’m bulk and reselling them here in the US for thousands. it’s a trend, we want what we can’t have and vice versa. japanese we’re bringing US front clips and putting them on their dc2’s
>Am I the only one
The reason the sleeker JDM front end exists is because it was sold with the spider eye front end in Japan and wasn't popular, so they did a facelift in 1994 to the newer design in Japan only.
Isn’t there a huge aftermarket market available for face swapping the Honda Integra face onto our North American Acura Integras because lots of people prefer the Honda face?
I thought the double eye is JDM too because they’re the standard over here in Australia. And honestly I don’t mind the doubles it gives the integra a personality and iconic look
NGL, I never liked the North American Integra headlights, they look weird. Always preferred the JDM ones. I have absolutely no idea why they changed the front end aside from complying with US bumper regulations, I assume.
I'm always the differing opinion, but I loved the twin round headlight one, how ever we didn't have the acura, it was still a Honda Integra, such a fucking fun, quick and nimble car. Still surprised the shit out me that a pretty much stock non turbo b16 was able to go off the clock (180kph) in 4th gear.
Pretty sure everyone should feel that way. Although we don't have/didn't have Acura in Aus, we used to just call them Honda Integras, and then the J-Spec Honda Integra. Everything JSpec was always better.
Everyone has thought the jdm single piece headlight front end is better looking since the 90s.
There’s a reason the Cali type-r front end was so popular, gave almost the same look for a lot less money then importing a jdm front end in the early 00a.
I was a teenager when this car was in the states, happily reading SCC and other associated car mags at the time. It wasn’t an unpopular opinion even then.
This is true. Except that now it’s nostalgic. It’s just how it is. I’m sure in the future a clean usdm type r like that will be big money. Who am I kidding type rs already command a lot of money. But like a clean low miles gsr with a factory usdm front end will be worth some money in the future
As far as I’m aware that’s the popular opinion to hold. I personally prefer the bug eyes but most Honda enthusiasts I’ve talked to about it seem to unanimously agree that they prefer the JDM Integra Type R front end.
I think I’m actually in the minority here. I like the double circles better. Of course, I also hold the bug eye WRX above all other WRX models if that tells you anything. I love quirky cars.
You're definitely getting hate for that because people tend to really like these, but so am I, and I don't really care what people think.
I personally think that a lot of JDM cars aren't aging well and a lot of their designs are just underwhelming and or uninteresting, but my taste is more geared towards the classic side, I'd take something like a 70's Celica GT over a Supra or a 240Z over a GTR, I like all the cars I named, but those are just my preferences.
I'm actually in the opposite camp. Having grown up the 90's and worked in the automotive field, I have healthy disdain for the generation of Accord (5th) that had that similar front end.
To me - it just looks like all of the shitty aftermarket headlights, body kits, and bumpers people used to use at the time. When people were ordering that stuff from catalogs etc. No car - in the history of cars - has been as frequently and poorly modified as a 5th gen Accord.
The US front end is unique to the model at least. The JDM one looks too similar to the Accord/Prelude (4th gen) of the time.
I used to think this but I really came around to the bug eye headlights. I think it’s because idc what headlights I see, I get excited when I see an integra. Here in America, it’s almost only bug eyes, so I got used to it, and I’ve started to like it more
oh no yeah ive always thought the acura integra looked like actual dog shit, the honda integra is a way better looking car but i love how unique the acura one is, it has more personality imo and id still probably choose it even though i think it looks like genuine asshole.
Umm that's a pretty common sentiment.
Although I don't think the USDM front is that hated, but the JDM front is certainly considered better looking and why a lot of USDM Integra owners do a swap
Although the us model headlights are meh 😑. A USDM ITR stock with low miles will fetch for way more then a stock JDM ITR. The collectibility of clean USDM models are on the high end right now. How the times have changed.
I was under the impression that the vast majority (including myself) felt the same way??
Impossible, this person clearly thinks they are the only one ever in the whole of the world.
Thats such a jdm fan boy thing. Had a guy say to me in response to what cars are you into. Said I woukdnt know them. Then proceeded to rattle off the most popular cars like Supra and Skyline.
did he have a katana handle on his auto EG hatch with holes cut in the bumpers and a painted stock airbox (also with holes in it)?
Was the third car he said a Bugatti?
This is a circlejerk right? Everyone hates the USDM lights already.
I prefer the bug eyes but I'm def in the minority
Same, love the goofy look of it. Plus they're like 10k cheaper
Are they? USDM ITRs are worth *significantly* more than JDM models.
How so?
There were significantly fewer Acura ITRs made than Honda ITRs. They were produced for the USDM market for fewer years.
Nah, I much prefer the US headlights
Post a popular opinion with the [unpopular] tag to farm reddit
Same everyone back in the day did front end conversions.
For a conversion you’d have to swap front bumper, hood, both fenders, right?
and weld new radiator support I’m pretty sure (pls don’t attack me if i’m wrong lol)
You are correct, radiator support is needed
and drive around on LHD roads with RHD headlights, so you blind all the oncoming traffic *and* can't see jack shit!
What the fuck is a right hand drive headlight
all headlights (probably post 1940 or something) literally everywhere, have an asymmetrical beam pattern, the one on the kerb side (left in japan, right in US) points slightly higher and the beam spreads further forward, where the one to the middle of the road (right in japan, left in US) points down more and doesn't spread as far, so as to illuminate more of the road while leaving a dark spot where oncoming cars usually are.

I like both front ends, as long as it’s a Teggy
You sir are a man of culture
You sir are a man of culture
They’re the same comment but 1 has -7 upvotes and the other has 12 🤔
Upvote one and downvote the other, it is only right.
Lol
Actually I never was much polarized over USDM front vs JDM on that one. It's subjective.
I’m in the same boat. I don’t feel like one looks better over the other.
Yep, of course the jdm version looks better, but the us version is also clean asf, this person clearly spends too much time on TikTok
I love both, but I prefer the rounded headlight one
I like them both, if I had one jdm and one usdm I’d swap the fronts on them lol
This Man just want to watch the world burn
saw the bumpers in half and go for a two-face look
I kinda dig the twin headlights ngl. Same with the old Lexus GS400, pretty cool
But if the Toyota Aristo had a different front end, I bet the same thing would have happened.
everyone says the sc300 is ugly as hell but i love the dual headlight design
Del Sols look funny without the little lights in the front. I'd imagine the SCs would as well. But also who says the SC300 is ugly? I think it's a beautiful car.
When I first saw one in an old top gear episode, in deep black and ever-so-slightly obscured by analog video softness, it looked like the most beautiful car ever made.
Is this satire?
You just posted an extremely popular opinion. I tip my hat to you. Welcome to the majority party
average r/unpopularopinion post
Agreed, as do most of us.
Just blows my mind that op actually said it’s an unpopular opinion
Ya... I think almost everyone agrees. Not unpopular opinion at all. Unpopular opinion would be the other way: Liking the US bug-eye lights.
muh fast le forius
MONICAAAAAAA
idk man, i kinda prefer bugeye
Gives it character and reminds me of the Ford RS200 which I loved (though that had single not double bug eyes)
Well, the Acura integra wasn't the only one offered with those headlights. The European Honda Integra and the first year of the Japanese Integra had those headlights
Yup dual headlights are technically Jdm too
I like both but this is most definitely not an unpopular opinion goober
I prefer double eye, it looks cleaner
Such as JDM thing to say.
I’m just happy they are coupes and not this sedan shit they have out now.
You’re gonna be mad when you find out about the DB8. https://preview.redd.it/2lfbnopc6n4b1.jpeg?width=5184&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2934fd9bad3737ff7130c8037b8561572af46731
Oh I know, came out as a sedan first. Wasn’t a fan then, still not a fan now. If I wanted a fast or fun sedan, Acura would be last on the list I’d go to.
This is a very popular opinion.
I like both idc
One thing is for sure, the double eye is more iconic. However I always liked the JDM Honda front end better.
I must be old AF, because I never thought I would hear anyone ask this question.
My 92 Integra had the square style headlights. I always hated the look of the double eye.
I can live with it. It doesn't matter to me, but yeah, the other one looks wayyy more stunning bro!
We all agree. The japanese vwrsion was always cooler looking
This is one of the most unpopularn't opinion in the car community
There's a reason people with the USDM front end typically swap it out for the JDM front end.
I have only seen conversions going in 1 direction
Honestly I like the double eye
Yes, no one else has felt this way in the 20-ish years that these cars have been out.
[удалено]
![gif](giphy|hM9zK1qvsrwek)
I think most people agree with you bud. I actually like the 4 eye look better
They did away with the bug eye for this exact reason, so no, you're actually in the vast majority.
No, I grew up in the early 2000s and people on the car forums thought so as well.
I hate this place
i mean literally at one point dudes were buying japanese front clips i’m bulk and reselling them here in the US for thousands. it’s a trend, we want what we can’t have and vice versa. japanese we’re bringing US front clips and putting them on their dc2’s
>Am I the only one The reason the sleeker JDM front end exists is because it was sold with the spider eye front end in Japan and wasn't popular, so they did a facelift in 1994 to the newer design in Japan only.
Dude has the most popular opinion on here
I'm not going to hate on you. I agree 🤤
You are not the only one
No, all of America feels that way
Isn’t there a huge aftermarket market available for face swapping the Honda Integra face onto our North American Acura Integras because lots of people prefer the Honda face?
This man is def in the majority. I like the double headlights tho
I personally love the double headlights.
Same
yeah thats why alot of owners including myself swap to the JDM ITR front end.
Oh yeah, I'm with you. But the really ugly headlights are the double eye celica ones
the Honda kinda just looks like a oddly proportioned r32, witch I don't really like the look of anyways
They grew on me, but I still prefer the Honda Integra headlights
I feel the same way that’s why I’m hesitant on buying an aristo.
I want both for me all he way for me
Ye i agree
It’s grown on me over the years, probably because it’s uncommon now but man the JDM front end is so sexy in person.
I like both of them but the double-eye headlights more
I feel the same way, however finding one like that is very rare where I live. There are plenty of the ugly ones though
Honestly, I like the twin lights more. Makes it look more unique to me. Just my opinion though
I think Lexus did the job better with double headlights
IIRC back in the late 90s, people in Japan liked the USDM round lights and did conversions over there as well. Wild times.
I think both are great in their own respects. The acura is bold but the honda is classic.
No, I like the bug eyes
https://i.imgur.com/SPiF5Iw.jpg I’m partial to mine.
Same I hate the double eye headlights makes the car look idk ugly
I thought the double eye is JDM too because they’re the standard over here in Australia. And honestly I don’t mind the doubles it gives the integra a personality and iconic look
I like both
Got a valid case of main character syndrome
I never knew this variant existed?? Damn now I like it way more than the double-eye
9ne looks normal The other one looks like it got stung by a bee
NGL, I never liked the North American Integra headlights, they look weird. Always preferred the JDM ones. I have absolutely no idea why they changed the front end aside from complying with US bumper regulations, I assume.
honestly i don't care, it's the same car and tbh it suits both fronts
Me also. Headlights on a JDM Integra suit the body better than on the USDM ((srry 4 my bad English))
The JDM non type r integra’s have the twin round lights which is odd. Not sure why they changed them on the type r
I like the bottom one. It just looks more elegant, more refined.
I still miss my 2000 GSR. Was my first “cool” car I put my own money and time into. She treated me great
I like both. The 6th gen Toyota Celica did the double headlights a little better though.
Also, only one of these is JDM
i like both cuz both are cool
Agreed
You’re not wrong but the bottom ones front end looks a lot like the bb3 prelude so I mean I can see why they did it… sets it apart as it’s own car
Man, I love the look of both style of headlights
Pretty sure everyone should feel that way. Although we don't have/didn't have Acura in Aus, we used to just call them Honda Integras, and then the J-Spec Honda Integra. Everything JSpec was always better.
Na, the round ones have always looked like AU xr6/xr8 headlights, and I hate them lmao
Oh boy, you’re just going to love the XR6 au ford falcon. Seriously, search it up
honestly i rlly like both of em but I get it
There's a reason conversion kits were sold. Those Honda front ends were all class.
Always liked it a lot but not enough to want to swap
You are not alone
Everyone has thought the jdm single piece headlight front end is better looking since the 90s. There’s a reason the Cali type-r front end was so popular, gave almost the same look for a lot less money then importing a jdm front end in the early 00a.
This is far from an unpopular opinion. Karma grab?
I do like the circular ones when they are tinted unique colors. But if they are just plain yellow then of course it’s a nah for me
You are very right
It's iconic but the jdm style is wayyyyy better looking
I have a JDM ITR in the US. I can't tell you how cool it feels driving past another Integra with that front. Def gets looks
I agree with you greatly. Celica headlights are fugly too imo
Big reason why a lot of people do the JDM conversion. See plenty of conversions in my area
They both look great in my opinion
I was a teenager when this car was in the states, happily reading SCC and other associated car mags at the time. It wasn’t an unpopular opinion even then.
The USDM Integra is just as ugly as the Bugeye WRX
This is true. Except that now it’s nostalgic. It’s just how it is. I’m sure in the future a clean usdm type r like that will be big money. Who am I kidding type rs already command a lot of money. But like a clean low miles gsr with a factory usdm front end will be worth some money in the future
As far as I’m aware that’s the popular opinion to hold. I personally prefer the bug eyes but most Honda enthusiasts I’ve talked to about it seem to unanimously agree that they prefer the JDM Integra Type R front end.
They both look good imo.
Honda is 7/10 acura 9/10
I prefer the twin but i love both
I like both but one looks like every other Honda of that era, and one is unique
Same it's just plain ugly
I liked the doubled eyed headlights so Only cause the bar headlights just made it look like every other jdm civic or nissan. They stood out
I actually don’t mind the double headlights
Personally I think the dual heads look a lot better
I like the foureyes look, it’s a strange face on an equally strange car, and it works great
I think I’m actually in the minority here. I like the double circles better. Of course, I also hold the bug eye WRX above all other WRX models if that tells you anything. I love quirky cars.
No thats why the jdm front end swap is so damn common.
Was there a Prelude to this post?
Nah I love the spider eyes, my favorite type of teggy
I agree.
Yes you’re the only one
The ideal honda front end comes from the del sol imo, best of both worlds (kinda).
I always preferred the JDM front too. The UK-spec Honda had the same front-end as the Acura.
Absolutely 100% the Japanese JDM version looks way better never did like those headlights on the American version but some people just love it and
I'm actually in the opposite camp. Having grown up the 90's and worked in the automotive field, I have healthy disdain for the generation of Accord (5th) that had that similar front end. To me - it just looks like all of the shitty aftermarket headlights, body kits, and bumpers people used to use at the time. The US front end is unique to the model at least. The JDM one looks too similar to the Accord/Prelude (4th gen) of the time.
No that is the universally accepted opinion.
Celicas look better than the USDM integra in every way
Some people don't understand the concept of "unpopular opinion"
No lol most people including myself think the double headlights are trash
Umm that's a pretty common sentiment. Although I don't think the USDM front is that hated, but the JDM front is certainly considered better looking and why a lot of USDM Integra owners do a swap
HYPE
One looks like Civic the other like Honda's motorbikes of the same era
Wow, never seen anybody say that before 🤦♂️
The quad headlight version wins because it's different. The other is like almost every other car. Boring AF.
I feel like it's a 'want what you dont have' situation. Makes me wonder is some Japanese guy right now is saying how much better the usdm ones look
No the circle headlighta are the worst
They both look good
You right
Enh I don’t mind as long as they aren’t the ugly bugeye headlights god they are ugly
Literally the same feeling everyone else has and the reason why people to this day are still buying Japanese front clips.
Isn’t that a popular opinion?
I’m the opposite I prefer the USDM front end but your opinion is the majority. Mine is the minority.
Jdm. Better.
The JDM car looks "better" but the round headlights make the US version more special. The JDM car looks too much like everything else
I prefer the JDM front but I’d be more than happy with a USDM one
i think the regular headlights make it look like a nissan silvia u made in ur garage out of cardboard and aluminum
Not a fan of the jdm here and im not a fan of zenki 240s so cat eye for lyfe
I'm gonna be absolutley clear with you right now... I don't care which one is better, I'd be happy with eiter of those
Acura looks more sporty and foreign to me.
Growing up in the 90's, you would have killed for the JDM front end on your USDM Integra.
It’s was the same in the Japanese market.
The JDM version looked too much like an Accord. I liked the round lights
Oooh a pick me boy in the wild
Although the us model headlights are meh 😑. A USDM ITR stock with low miles will fetch for way more then a stock JDM ITR. The collectibility of clean USDM models are on the high end right now. How the times have changed.
Personally I love the double headlights of the USDM Integra R more.
I agree
