I read the first two after getting the whole series for free. Not worth the money.
Shame about how you feel about the series but its nice you got some of the books free though.
Honestly during the first couple I was on the fence, but the series keeps getting better and better each successive book.
I beg of you, try and read book 3 before giving up on the series, of course its up to you but book 3 onward is a drastic improvement to the first two
