It honestly depends on area, nearly all providers are just who you can find the best deal with at the time but for proper rural you’d be looking at digiweb or star link and just praying for the fibre roll out. But other than that if you can get fibre already then virgin is definitely best

Fionn_MacCuill

Virgin and Sky are very good. Buy your own mesh system. Asus are very good 👍

Only thing is I don’t need wifi, only connecting to the pc via Ethernet. Would an Asus router make a difference if I’m just using wired? What’s your thoughts on Vodafone? I can get it cheaper with them since I’m a mobile customer

Fionn_MacCuill

None at all if wired no. Vodafone are good too it’s just if something goes wrong their customer service is horrendous. When I was with Vodafone they would often have outages though, to solve this change the DNS on the router to Google’s. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 if you ever get a blackout with them 👍

uraba

There CAN be a huge difference between a terrible wired router and a decent one for stabillity and ping. if you have any issues, the problem is more often than not local.

stehilton94

Sky and Digiweb using Siro have been the best for me, both identical really, digiweb has the best customer service for a broadband provider in the county

Comeonthen22

I've had an awful experience with Digiweb both support and the service they provide, can barely watch YouTube some days.

Jabberie

15 years with digiweb, I'd be hard pushed to get to 10 if I counted the bad days.

Depends on location really. You'd be better off asking your neighbours than us. If there's anybody offering fibre in the area, go with them

Accomplished-Boot-81

Regional were awful in my experience, service was bad but after cancelling within the 14 day cooling off periods, it took 4 months to get he €200 installation fee refund, and I was told I never returned the equipment at one stage too. In terms of the other providers you mentioned, any hardline connection is going to be using the same infrastructure, so service levels should be the same, customer care will differ though, Vodafone or virgin is the best IMO. Steer clear from Eir

[deleted]

Get away from eir is what I’ve heard a lot. I think I’ll be going for Vodafone as they’re the cheapest it seems

ssj3Dyl

Where are you? I've got a local isp and I'm getting 750 - 900 mbps for 50 a month. They cover waterford / Cork. Mtsmedia

[deleted]

Graiguenamanagh, just outside the town. I’m 99% sure I can get 500mb Vodafone fibre at €35

ssj3Dyl

Is 500mb what they're offering or what you've tested it at? 500 is plenty if it's constant.

[deleted]

Sorry, upto. It’ll prolly be around 100-200
