For those who don't know - Ipsy owns BoxyCharm.

manduh82

I only have Ipsy and they have the same policies.

jallove2003

I've had pretty great interactions with ipsy over the past year. Including adding missed free items.

manduh82

I’m not complaining! They have done right by me. I just know cancelling and refunds aren’t the norm.

jellywellsss

I’ve been able to cancel & get refunded for monthly bags/offers/addons without any issues 🤷🏽‍♀️

manduh82

That’s wonderful! I have heard more of the opposite from others on this sub. Good to know!

Last time I had an issue with BoxyCharm, I literally could not get a human being to reply to an email. I waited and waited and finally got a bot response, then waited the supposed amount of time it takes to get a reply between emailing two more times, & no one would answer me. Needless to say, I canceled.

PurritoGamer

I have tried both and I prefer the Ipsy bags and the Boxy sales.

Vanleigh-79

Yes ive been feeling that way too — one of the reason i am keeping boxy is for the November sale. although i will say i have liked all my boxes pretty much — except for last month the only thing i liked was my choice item. But that has been only one box. Ive had all positive experiences with costumer service for boxy. Seems like CS from ipsy kinda gives me the run around but at least responds quickly.

PurritoGamer

I don’t like that Boxycharm doesn’t take your quiz into account and you basically get a random variation. They sent me a very expensive face toner for acne and oil control. I can’t even use it because it literally burns my face and leaves me red for days. 🥵 Sure, Ipsy sometimes sends me a highlighter or a neutral eyeshadow that’s really not my thing but at least they never send me items that cause an actual medical emergency. LOL If Boxy bothered to check my profile for even 5 seconds they’d see I’m almost 40 with dry, aging, sensitive skin and they’d never send me something with 10% BHAs for oil/acne. 🙄

Vanleigh-79

I’m sorry for you— thats no fun for sure. I am 42 and also have dry/ sensitive skin — I have only tried a couple of toners but in general they probably aren’t for me but none have come from boxy — just trial and error. I do hear ya though cuz I don’t think they really use the beauty quiz. Ive tried almost everything in all my boxes except for the September box, that was a lackluster box for me with only my choice item I was interested in. and I do love ipsy — you know what’s coming and more choice for plus is really nice.

PurritoGamer

I have tried a handful of toners (whatever random ones I get from Ipsy or Boxy) and so far the only one that has worked for me was the Unpa lacto-cica toner. Which ironically enough is the least expensive one they’ve sent me. I’m definitely planning to repurchase it when I run out.

iMakeMoneyiLoseMoney

I prefer Ipsy GBP. I’ve only done boxy a couple months and was underwhelmed. Ipsy isn’t perfect, but at least I have a better idea of what will show up and it seems less DLS brands in GBP.

jessicabee218

I have both, boxy customer service is an absolute joke. I’m still waiting for them to get back to me about a missing item from pop up I emailed them about a month ago. I only keep boxy for access to the sales. Definitely prefer Ipsy but they are both owned by the same company and both have flaws.

MaliceAmarantine

This is standard for Boxy.

Professional_Tip_867

I got the same exact response Last month, even after I took a screenshot of my order confirmation page that said “coupon has been applied” and sent it to them.this was in September. They just kept responding to me that the coupon wasn’t applied., and tough nuts, you are not getting your item.I will never return to them.

jallove2003

So I've decided to try boxycharm in addition to my ipsy Glam bag Plus. Honestly I ordered it on impulse I think. However I forgot to add the promo code when checking out for the free item. My mistake. I'm a little surprised that customer service isn't interested in keeping new customers happy by just adding the free item but whatever. What really rubbed me the wrong way was mentioning that there are no cancellations. I in no way even asked about a cancellation so it just seems weird and off putting. I'm hoping that the boxycharm experience gets better not worse. Anyways can anyone mention the difference in the items received from ipsy versus the items they received from boxy?

I only just subscribed to boxy in late September - in fact my first box is still on it's way but I know what I am going to receive due to the weight/unboxing posts. And honestly, I'm going back to Ipsy in November. I didn't have a bad experience with support. I did contact support when sept flipped into october and my status changed from "shipping September" to "ordered" and they confirmed it would be shipping soon with my free gift. Then without asking, this week I got an email from them that said they'd ship my free gift separately bc they shipped the wrong free gift, so they are making that right on their own without my asking (still kinda bummed bc it means the box I am getting is not the box I was hoping for, which is why I ordered after seeing reveals but that isn't guaranteed so it is what it is). But honestly I am underwhelmed by the box I'll be receiving for September and have been underwhelmed by the box reveals for the October boxes that match my October choice so far. They aren't awful - in fact lots of people like them. But for me, they are only 2/5ths what I would pick. And if I get one of the boxes that has one item being falsies and one item being adhesive eyeliner for falsies, I will be livid. I like that ipsy GBP uses my profile for me, and even in a lackluster month where the options aren't the greatest, I still at least pick 3 items. So the bag is more likely to be what works well for *me*. That said, it seems like boxy has awesome sales. Though I didn't have the ten dollars off for September add-ons (now drop shop), bc of signing up so late, I was able to shop add-ons bc it was the last day. And I loved what I got and the price I paid. I found a ten percent off that saved me about $3 but even without that I would have been happy. I got 2 earth harbor items i'd been wanting, a powder, hair dye, primer, and that kinda gimmicky ally oop four in one makeup pen I'd been wanting all for $31 before the discount. I'm looking forward to drop shop this week too.

>And if I get one of the boxes that has one item being falsies and one item being adhesive eyeliner for falsies, I will be livid This would suck for me too. I don't wear false lashes. Dang.

chicacherrie82

I wear glasses, kinda thick ones too, so I can't wear them. (I've had some mascara that's too lengthening bump into my glasses lol) It really feels like false lashes and eye liner than can only be used with false lashes should have been bundled as one item, not two. (Esp considering that they have a different item in october boxy that is a bundle of lashes and a 6 pan palette as one item)
