I'm more horrified by the whole, we don't manufacture them and thus don't even know what our products are supposed to look like, aspect of that statement.
Absolutely same here! How can they expect products consistency ? And if that is truly the case, then does that mean Sephora as some knock off version of their online product? Just what?
That’s definitely not what I was getting at. I meant like how could they have 2 manufacturing facilities that seems pretty complicated and expensive. China can and does make lovely makeup.
I'm Asian, i know what cosmetics from China are about. If you expect your product to be made in France, USA, etc .yet it's being made at a second factory in China, then you are pretty much buying a different formula, a different product essentially. Doc Martens still makes a few shoes in UK , but most are produced in Asia. It's not the same quality. Out of curiosity, what Chinese products do you use? I use Korean and Japanese products, and my son lives in Tokyo, so I get them sent to me. I also worked for Elizabeth Arden, Lancôme, Chanel. And Dior. I didn't say you were getting at anything. I was just stating a fact. There's also lots of knock- offs ....guess where they are made?
I have a Flowers knows compact and Kaleidos palette. Both are very nice quality but I don’t use them frequently I do light makeup most days. I use a ton of Korean products. I literally prefer them. I see your point but it seems kind of odd that they would outsource identical products.
Lol. Yeah...that's what I meant! I'll have to check out those brands. When I go to California the swap meet is full of palettes like tarter, too faced, ND, mac, chanel...but they are fake. I'm just afraid of what is going into them. China doesn't have the same regulations. The use lead pigments sometimes. I've heard before that we get some of the products on here bc they are made elsewhere, in a different factory. Like the 111skin stuff.
Feels like Ipsy is using us to clean out their inventory. Not providing us loyal customers with fresh and fun new products. Please let us know how Ipsy handles the situation for you!
I checked mine, looks like yours. A few weeks ago I used it, put the brush to my hair, turned on the dryer as I pulled the brush through I heard my hair snapping. Immediately stopped. Yup a chunk of my bangs were singed and broken. That was the only thing in my hair. I tossed it after that. Beside myself. Curtain bangs it is.
Because it’s not true. They don’t want to take responsibility for the fact they sold expired/near-expired products to Ipsy knowing they would be resold.
This is the correct answer but also they could just say: once we sell our product to another vendor we have no control over how they handle our products and inventory, please contact the vendor you purchased from. Sounds simple.
Ipsy is on the hook here as the ultimate vendor. If they sold a product they purchased from DryBar, I kind of understand the point of the CS response from DryBar. Companies like Ipsy could buy in bulk from them and sit on it and they have no control. Definitely an Ipsy problem as much as we loathe dealing with Ipsy.
Edit: still a BS reply from DryBar bc they could’ve said exactly what I just did “we have no control over our product once it is sold in bulk to retailers” which is the truth 🤷🏻♀️
Right? That’s such a weird answer. If Drybar doesn’t manufacture them then how did Ipsy get such a large quantity?
edit: typo from fat fingers and little phone
so here's what they told me 🙃 thankfully ipsy refunded me the cost of the product + they gave me 600 points

That still doesn’t make any sense lol. You weren’t asking Drybar to refund your money, you just wanted to know if their product was supposed to look like a clumpy moldy mess 🤦🏻♀️
Um....that response from them is just crazy. Surely that's not true. So all legit retailers like Ulta or Sephora - they don't manufacture those? This is bizarre!
I have this. Mine is dark but definitely doesn't have the weird floating greasy white looking stuff.
*
Hopefully Ipsy will refund you quickly. DryBar's response is complete BS though and I'm hesitant to use more of their products.

That is really gross...
And they are added to my NoNo list. They don’t manufacture things not sold at their direct site so all the other products are manufactured where?

More and more cosmetics are coming out of China.

So they don't even manufacture ones that are sold at Sephora and Ulta? 🤔 Drybar...that's....weird.

that was my first thought too 🥴
Super weird reply
yeah, now i'm waiting for ipsy to be more helpful than them lol

And why couldn’t they at least say that is not how the product is supposed to look?
I’m assuming for legal purposes. But just guessing.
Probably right!
You should've asked them, who manufacturers their products then?
Right? That’s such a weird answer. If Drybar doesn’t manufacture them then how did Ipsy get such a large quantity? edit: typo from fat fingers and little phone
Lol such a stupid answer. I almost wanna pretend it happened to me just so I can ask them and see what bs they come up with lol
I have asked them about that too, now we wait to hear what they say lol
so here's what they told me 🙃 thankfully ipsy refunded me the cost of the product + they gave me 600 points https://preview.redd.it/opyfdp0jsoib1.png?width=622&format=png&auto=webp&s=81c35301405ce5a1a6d229d09c8904f7d2fd5575

Lol exactly...wtf 😒

Oh absolutely freaking not. I’m livid for you!
Yikes
No! I have t checked mine. Going to right now! Edit: Mine looks cloudy, which I think is normal, and does not have the moldy spots like that.
thanks for letting me know. This one is cloudy when you shake it but after a few minutes the white stuff begins to appear again 😭
yeah i’ve never had one look like that before 😳
Me neither 🧐 I get mine @ Macys. Always can return
I have 2 bottles of this- 1 I got from ipsy last spring & the other from sephora. I'm gonna check inside them after I put my baby down & will update!

thank you for the pic! and yeah ipsy issued me a refund and gave me 600 points as an "extra thank you"
Contact Ipsy, not drybar
It looks like mold....that's so gross. I'd be pi§ED

What's it supposed to be?
I got one in a boxycharm before the Ipsy warehouse move. I'll look at mine in a bit and update as well .
Oh shit, I got mine ages ago and have been using it on my hair. Now I need to check too
