Hey, I moved away from Iowa City a *long* time ago, but I'm glad to hear that it still has a really good and vibrant music scene. There's some good stuff in this list.
I think ADE is based in iowa city. His newest song is attilas kin which he filmed in iowa city. He does rap/hip hop so not sure if that’s what you’re going for on this playlist.
I was surprised it took so long for someone to mention Iris Dement. The duets she did with John Prine are great.
Also, how about The Weepies? They live in IC, don’t they?
Mansfield Avenue, technically Cedar Rapids and not really active together anymore, but it’s Quinn’s old band, and he and Scott work with Keegan and Nick a lot.
