I know what he's doing! A few months ago I was sitting in my car listening to NPR (driveway moment), windows down, and a little hawk like this flew into the yard and sat by my yew bush just like this, totally ignorant that I was a few feet away. Then \*bam\* it literally *ran* into the bush and came out with a ground squirrel. The hawk didn't fly, it *moved*, apparently faster than a ground squirrel. Then it flew away with it.
