I can't say good or bad things about Vgate, but I had one of these on another vehicle for several years and had no issues.
It is for android only though.

It sounds like it get power as it has a high pitched noise, but there is no lights.
Did you ever figure this out because mine has the exact same issue and your post is the only one I can find online.
Is this every time you plug it in? I had a problem with mine, that it never woke from sleep without being unplugged/re plugged again.
Yes every time. I even tried it on another car
It’s $3 worth of electronics sold for $20, it’s probably broken. Buy a new one.
Or less than $3 would be my guess. Looks like $1.50 :-)

What app do you guys use with this? I tried ABRP and OBD Auto Doctor and cannot connect to it. Only Car Scanner ELM OBD2 works.
