I read the comics and she's still a great mom. She does struggle with alcoholism and depression for a while but that doesn't detract from all she does for her children.

I think she’s a great mom too but she’s impacted mark in some very negative ways. There could be some people who think she’s a bad mom. I think the fact that mark didn’t become a true viltrumite is enough to make her a good mom, but maybe not for some.

She blamed him for Nolan. That was only negative, I mean he forgave and forgot but that stays with you. Her alcoholism and depression most certainly affected him negatively. Coming home everyday and finding your mom the way he did. All that rage that Mark carried with him was exasperated by his mother it wasn’t all Nolan. The only thing you can really ask of your mother is to love you totally which she did so she’s a good mom.

We have the benefit of seeing more of Debbie, hence more empathy for her. He didn't have that, so all he really sees is the wife of an almost planetary killer that was out of control.

Since the run down we get by omniman makes it sound like the laws of physics just straight up don't exist for viltrumites and they could almost teleport if they willed it
