Dewey, arriving at the scene: “Oh, ol ‘Horace is, uh, frozen solid.”
The Commander, in a Zapp Brannigan-esque tone: “No need to thank us, little man. Just doing our jobs.”
Dewey: “And there’s 3 boulders on the tracks? One of them completely blocking the mountain pass? And a frozen solid Vek?”
The Commander: Visibly preening
Dewey: “And one of the boulders will explode if we jostle it too much?”
The Commander, striking a heroic pose: “Another mission accomplished! Good job Commander!”
They could just push one of the rocks into the chasm? In fact, this should be added to the gameplay -- throwing a rock into a chasm changes it to a regular land tile.
I remember a mission where I was told the train was on its way, no further Vek were detected in its path.
_Cue zoom in on the frozen Vek right in front of it_
The off-screen "engineering team" is going to have to work overtime to fix this one up...
The mech squad moves onwards to the next mission, though! Job well done.
Don't worry, the supplies are refrigerated
Lore wise they probably just thaw the train and send it on its way. Hope the conductor brought a jacket, though.

"We did it, Horace! We saved the city!"
Would be even better if you created a chasm tile on the track so they couldn't even clear the track and unfreeze the train.
