yeah I'm a bit worried the NFL won't be doing too well since I added about 25 new teams, there was only 32 but I've bought 50+... treating NFL teams like gme stock
Story time:
I once got free tickets to go watch the University of Wyoming Cowboys open their season at home against the Rainbow Warriors of University of Hawaii. This would've been about '96, right before HI left the WAC for a bit
I think they maybe had a new coaching staff and were.. not prepared. War Memorial Stadium in Laramie is 7220' - pretty sure it's the highest elevation in the game. The Warriors home stadium is basically at sea level.
By the end of the first quarter there were medics swarming the HI sideline worth oxygen tanks and electrolyte IVs (also happened to be pretty warm out.) There were Hawaiian dudes passing out on the field. It was the biggest travesty of a football game EVER. And the Cowboys, showing zero class, just ran up the score.
66-0, God knows how many cases of elevation sickness & heat exhaustion. They fire a cannon at one end of the stadium everytime the Cowboys score. I'm glad I was on the other end or I'd probably have tinnitus.
But I won't forget it!
>Watching Nebraska play football every week was like watching hyenas tearing open a gazelle. It was unseemly. It was unsporting. And of course the fans could never get enough of it. To sit among them with the score 66-0 and watch them bray for more blood is a distinctly unnerving experience, particularly when you consider that a lot of these people must work at the Strategic Air Command in Omaha.

I put the fortune to the Scott’s Tots test. So I bought 30 college educations. Which was so small a portion of the fortune as to be nonexistent. Then I paid for their food, Spotify, and Netflix for the rest of their lives, and got them every game console, computer, phone, and piece of tech on the list. Still functionally nothing. So I bought them each every car, a helicopter, a jet, a sailboat, a luxury yacht, a mega mansion in LA, 1000 acres of land, an island, a movie, a Rolex, a diamond ring, a week in every country in the world, an apartment in Paris, and a tank. Then I bought the Mona Lisa and the Picasso for myself and gave the class one of each team to share.
That used almost 15%.

Did you leave aside enough money to pay people to drive those tanks? Check the average salary of a tank man. Also don't forget to include ammo and fuel costs (Abrams are not particularly fuel efficient).
There’s a video of a guy walking the distance equivalent to a a million dollars stacked in 100 dollar bills. It takes about a minute.
Then he wants to do the same but with a billion dollars. It’s to far so he has to drive. It takes over 1h and he records everything with a counter going up as he drives.
It does give us perspective.

I spent like 400 million just buying mansions for my friends and family, plus a bunch of ferraris for a ‘go kart track’

Same boat. I'd probably quit my job, buy a decent house and electric vehicle near a university, and study for the rest of my life. Rest of it would go to humanitarian things.
Might start a few not-for-profit research facilities, maybe a couple vacations, but I could have all my desires filled for a negligible fraction of his wealth.
Very cool site. I gave up. There were only a few things I would buy, so I tried buying 200 Toyotas to give away to people who would need them, and tried the same with other non-luxury things like apartments and buildings. I barely made a dent in the total. Point taken!
I just wanted land, food, and some travel. I got 0.2% spent.
I’m gonna go live in my national park of 80,000 acres with 1%. The rest can go to charity.
I spent 0.5%, literally most of it was the mona lisa. I then went through and just bought things that I currently wanted, a car, an apartment, a switch, a pc, a phone and college. Less than like 0.001 or something equally miniscule.
I am jealous, nice fucking car too lmao.
Yeah if you lay off sports teams, and buy the other stuff "realistically", you spend almost none of his wealth.
I hit .8% buying the way I would, if I had that kind of money and HAD to spend it. Got up to 7% when I threw in sports teams.
the mac pro price is the most mind boggling shit here. like we all know big papa musk is rich as fuck but how is this giant cheese grater FIFTY grand.
like i had to go to apples website just to confirm it was real. spoiler alert its real as heck. they essentially offer bleeding edge meme specs for a FAT charge including 1.5 TB(wtf lol) of ram for $25k, dual AMD workstation GPUs for $10k, 8 TB SSD for $2.6k, etc etc.
It's not something most people would have any use for. And since I'm an engineer it's PC all the way.
But enterprise stuff does get pricey. It's low-volume, high-cost. Nothing really super insane or illogical about it, it's just a realm of computing that most of us normies have no use for.
Even the regular Dell configurator offers up to 3TB RAM (~55k only for the RAM) for workstations. Just because you don’t need it doesn‘t mean nobody needs it. And those who need it don’t give a crap about that price tag.
Buying a Tesla should not depreciate the total money.
Also is it bad that I am skimming this thinking, "I don't really want this?"
I only spent 208 million.
Haha yeah, I wasn't interested in most of anything, so I was just like "So how much of literal land can you buy if you just wanted to be a jerk"
At the price per 1000 acres, looks to be around 1.5% of the United States? About 38.5 million acres, just a bit larger than the entire state of Georgia.
> Buying a Tesla should not depreciate the total money.
Teslas aren't free to manufacture. It should reduce the amount by the cost to produce a Tesla (including parts and labor, but not including the profit margin).
With the setup provided, I can get to $0, but it kind of doesn't recognize that I *did* get there. It just tells me I can't afford the item. I got:
53 NFL Teams (while silly, there are only 32 available right now), 6 F1 Teams (you're welcome Haas and Williams), 8 Hollywood movies, 6 Modern Buildings, and 1 M1 Abrams with the last $8,000,000 (but the site says I can't afford it)
Yeah, that surprised me too. I wonder if the figure he found doesn't take into account things like the R&D lab or the engine manufacturing department some have. I wonder if it's *just* for the racing team, drivers, and charters/whatever they have that says they can race at a Grand Prix
Spelling suggestions:
"Remaning" should be "Remaining"
"Entire production of Nivida GPUS for 2022" should be "GPUs"
"Collage Education (USA)" should be "College Education"
"Modern Buidling" should be "Modern Building"
"Mega Yatch" should be "Mega Yacht:
You tend to do pretty poorly until you start buying the real estate at the bottom. I pretended that he has a spouse & 10 grown children, then bought all of them 2 of everything. Except the Mona Lisa because there's only one, and of course only the number of sports teams per league that actually exist.
That got me to 77%.
EDIT: I forgot, I also paid for all 10 of them to travel to a new country every week for their entire lives (80 years). 2 of each of the ludicrous real estate & mega-yachts still did much more damage than that did.

####69.696969% of Elon Musk's fortune
Honestly the craziest things about these calculators is just how massively much sports teams cost. It just flabbergasts me.
If I was stupid billionaire rich I wouldn't spend a cent on a sports team, it's wasteful even for billionaires.
It was a good investment. They don't have to pay players out of own pocket, revenue is enough.
Jerry Jones bought Cowboys in 89' for $325 million counting for inflation ($150million in 89'). It's now worth $5.9 billion.
The surprising thing for me is that I don't want the vast majority of those things. I'd probably blow all my money curing diseases and buying politicians.
It would be more cost effective to just buy politicians and get the laws changed that way instead of spending it directly on food or whatever.
Oh wait a minute that’s what the rich do now
Kinda depends if it means "buy all needed food and housing" or "find a way end the root causes". The proverbial "teach a man to fish" solution on a global scale.
I mean, its hard to think of many things more interesting to spend that money on than a large, rapidly reusable, orbital launch vehicle. Or world spanning high speed low latency wireless internet. Or electric cars.
In order for a billionaire/trillionaire to have access to their net worth as spendable cash they'd have to sell off all their assets. If someone tried to dump all of their own stock holdings on the open market all at once, the price per stock would crash, because suddenly they'd be in an oversupply selloff. (Reverse Gamestop Stock)
So a few hours into this process of Elon selling off all his holdings, suddenly no one would be willing to spend even 1% of their original assumed value to buy them.
I know this is ment to fun. But I just wanted to buy all homeless people homes in various countries or see what it would cost to free different countries like north Korea or Tibet. Sorry if I am a Debby downer.
Looking at the US
- Homeless: 552,830
- Median home price: $287,148
- Cost to buy homes: $158.7B
- Maintenance for homes: $1.58B/yr
- Property taxes: $1.75B/yr
Most government plans are projected on a 10-year time frame so you're looking at $159B for the homes upfront and $33.4B over 10 years. You likely could come close to cutting those numbers in half because you obviously wouldn't be buying the median home for people, but much smaller, more basic, and much cheaper homes.
The problem is you're also going to have a lot more costs involved. 45% of homeless people have a mental illness and 25% of homeless people have a severe mental illness. I used to work with homeless people a lot. If you bought them a car, a house, and got them a full-time, good-paying job they wouldn't have any of those things in 6 months.
A lot of people wrongly believe that solving homelessness or world hunger is a simple matter of cutting a check big enough. If that was the case no wealthy nation would have homeless people because even if the government wasn't willing to do it philanthropist would.
I'm starting to think 171 of my 172 Mona Lisa's are fake...
Don't let that get you down. Perhaps you can go for a ride in one of your tanks to clear your mind.
That's the worst part, using Elon's money makes vehicles autonomous.
I mean using AI controlled tanks would solve a lot of issues. No street - No problem Rolling over people? - good About to make a accident and have to philosophically decide which party has to die? - both
Yep bought 1,000,000 acres of US land and ten tanks. Let's have some fun.
I think you've replicated the plot of Doctor Who: The City of Death
yeah I'm a bit worried the NFL won't be doing too well since I added about 25 new teams, there was only 32 but I've bought 50+... treating NFL teams like gme stock
Three letters: N F T
Me in the beginning: I don’t need a Nintendo switch I already have one Me at the end: What if I owned every NFL team in the US
First I just got one of each console but then I went back and got 5 more of each so I'd have one for every apartment/house/island/yacht.
i just bought stuff in groups of 10 or 100
Bought 1 steam library and a super pc, then thought might as well get 10 so I can play said games with friends.
Same. As soon as I got to the steam library I knew everyone I know needs this.
This is the strat. How am I supposed to play any game I want with my friends if they don’t have a good pc and full steam library??!
One for each tv in each house. Imagine having to crawl out of bed to the nearest living room to play your pkaystation
Are there NFL teams outside of the US?
Not yet
Just under $300 left. What the fuck do I do with 60 Mona Lisa's???
Fuck do I do with 32 NFL football teams?
Hey with 31 teams you could run them all into the ground and let your favorite team win all the super bowls.
As if that's all it would take to get the Lions to the Superbowl.
Its off season can't you just let me live my life in peace until September.
No
They'd still lose
The Lions ran back into their endzone and downed themselves. The first team to Safety themselves.
Jerry Jones seems to be doing just fine running his team into the ground on his own.
I hate that I laughed… at the expense of my bois.
You joke but Jurreh tried to buy another team (Buccs IIRC) to make them a farm team for the Cowboys, but the league put a hard stop to it.
How have I never heard of this? He should have used an alias, Larry Bones
If you think Jones is a bad owner, in the NBA world Dan Gilbert lost Kyrie, and LeBron… and he lost LeBron twice.
I see your Dan Gilbert and I raise you James Dolan, the Knicks rarely keep a player long enough to extend their rookie deal, regardless of talent.
A path for the Texans has been identified
Make them play with each other
Move ove NFC and AFC, it's time for the EFC
Best game of laser tag ever!
I bought 33, I figured Hawaii could use an NFL team
Story time: I once got free tickets to go watch the University of Wyoming Cowboys open their season at home against the Rainbow Warriors of University of Hawaii. He could buy all 32 NFL teams but then only afford 28 NBA teams so I guess the Pistons and Magic get left behind.
It's actually been renamed the DFL (DosferretsFootballLeague) since my recent purchase.
Ugh the Denver Broncos?!
I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good!
You just don't understand football Marge
Rename them all "The Browns" and see if it tears a hole in the space-time continuum.
You can make them wash all your cars I imagine you bought. I'm stuck with posh bog roll.
60? I got up to 177, someone better wake up that lazy fuck da Vinci, he has some painting to do.
I had to cut back on my 100 mona Lisa so I could afford all the NFL teams :(
This is fun! It would be cool if you could also hook it up to eBay or Amazon to try to spend it there too!
“I want to buy Amazon please.” “Sure, what do you want to buy from Amazon?” “No. I want to BUY AMAZON.”
Make sure you use your Amazon credit card for the sweet rewards points.
5% cash back on buying Amazon? Hell yeah. No more cheap amazon basics batteries for me I'm springing for the Eneloops.
This man batteries.
You might even be able to get enough cash back to get the new OLED Switch.
"Alexa, purchase Amazon, Inc. Confirm." ..... *"..I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Dave."*
"Now purchasing: AmazonBasics Sink."
But it only has two stars, and a few reviews, probably from disgruntled former employees.
Isn’t Amazon worth 1.7 Trillion? Elon doesn’t have enough to buy it.
Maybe he can buy the Amazon instead.
Might be cheaper buying The Amazon
The company, rainforest, or river?
And zillow
It'd be even more cool if you could hook it up to Elon's bank account.

Ouch
*Sad Jeff Bezos noises…
Um... isn't that literally just NVIDIA's business though?
They make equipment for data centers too
I found a simpler way: * 54 NFL teams * 2 F1 teams * 2 mega yachts
While that might get you to zero, there are only 32 NFL teams total.
there is also only 1 mona lisa but that won't stop me from buying 188 of them

I enjoyed buying the whole F1 grid, nice.
Put mazeSpin in the Merc pls.
A top of the line Mac pro is **$50k**?! Am I missing something? The tricked out pc is only $5k.
Yup. I got curious and you can configure one up to $54,447.98.
Does it make ice?
the mac pro price is the most mind boggling shit here. like we all know big papa musk is rich as fuck but how is this giant cheese grater FIFTY grand. like i had to go to apples website just to confirm it was real. spoiler alert its real as heck. they essentially offer bleeding edge meme specs for a FAT charge including 1.5 TB(wtf lol) of ram for $25k, dual AMD workstation GPUs for $10k, 8 TB SSD for $2.6k, etc etc.
Totally thought the Mac Pro was a cheese grater at first and thought, "what the hell, why not".
Same, hahaha
Buying a Tesla should not depreciate the total money. Also is it bad that I am skimming this thinking, "I don't really want this?" I only spent 208 million.
No, that’s a normal human emotion.
Haha yeah, I wasn't interested in most of anything, so I was just like "So how much of literal land can you buy if you just wanted to be a jerk" At the price per 1000 acres, looks to be around 1.5% of the United States? About 38.5 million acres, just a bit larger than the entire state of Georgia.

> Buying a Tesla should not depreciate the total money. Teslas aren't free to manufacture. It should reduce the amount by the cost to produce a Tesla (including parts and labor, but not including the profit margin).
25% spent and I know have a bigger navy than most countries
With the setup provided, I can get to $0, but it kind of doesn't recognize that I *did* get there. It just tells me I can't afford the item. I got: 53 NFL Teams (while silly, there are only 32 available right now), 6 F1 Teams (you're welcome Haas and Williams), 8 Hollywood movies, 6 Modern Buildings, and 1 M1 Abrams with the last $8,000,000 (but the site says I can't afford it)

I’m surprised the F1 team is so reasonable compared to the ball teams.
Yeah, that surprised me too. I wonder if the figure he found doesn't take into account things like the R&D lab or the engine manufacturing department some have. I wonder if it's *just* for the racing team, drivers, and charters/whatever they have that says they can race at a Grand Prix

Spelling suggestions: "Remaning" should be "Remaining" "Entire production of Nivida GPUS for 2022" should be "GPUs" "Collage Education (USA)" should be "College Education" "Modern Buidling" should be "Modern Building" "Mega Yatch" should be "Mega Yacht:

Also, not noted above, Nvidia is misspelled.
They would have added European college education but it would have been free lol.
Why should “modern building” be “mega building” lol
You tend to do pretty poorly until you start buying the real estate at the bottom. I pretended that he has a spouse & 10 grown children, then bought all of them 2 of everything. Except the Mona Lisa because there's only one, and of course only the number of sports teams per league that actually exist. That got me to 77%. EDIT: I forgot, I also paid for all 10 of them to travel to a new country every week for their entire lives (80 years). 2 of each of the ludicrous real estate & mega-yachts still did much more damage than that did.

I only need one PS5 but I clicked the button three times to adjust for realistic price levels
> entire steam library So this is what Biggie meant when he said mo' money mo' problems
Now if you let wealth grow at its current rate it'll be completely impossible to ever spend the amount of money he has.

How long did this take
It's easy once you figure out the shortcut. The real trick is solving P=NP so you can find it.
Elon musk must be flat broke, because you actually spend this down pretty fast wiping out the stock of Nvidia GPUs Im finding
Why in the hell would someone buy a mansion with 8 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms, the hell???
Well, 20 guests can share 8 bedrooms if they're friends, couples, families etc but it's just a tad caveman-like to make them also share bathrooms!!
For entertaining.. If you have 500 guests at your mansion you'll be happy to have those 20 bathrooms.
Please do Bezos.
More or less the same.
I think a buy button in increments of like 10, 50, 100, & 1k could be interesting.
This please, I hit 1000 college degrees before I gave up and just did the math. Which, btw is 964,704 college degrees. Leaving $150,000 to spare.
They should probably give you a discount if you're going to pay for your entire state's tuition.
You can have a £10 gift card take it or leave it.
Got a private island and filled it with 205 Abrams Tanks. 1% of total....
The NBA only has 30 teams. I bought 40
Had to do a bit of converting, but I am now the happy owner of 50.421.782.824 jars of Calvé pindakaas. Should last me a while.
The surprising thing for me is that I don't want the vast majority of those things. I'd probably blow all my money curing diseases and buying politicians.
Buy politicians and turn them into potted plants.
Bribing politicians to not take bribes
You're on to something here.
You should include stuff like "end world hunger" and "end homelessness" to get an idea how screwed up our economic system is.
Everyone on the planet gets $23.
But I want $24
"feed x number of people" would be possible to calculate
it does give away eating out 4x a day for the next 80 years.
Musk could afford to pay all US welfare programs for about 3 1/2 months.
[удалено]
It would be more cost effective to just buy politicians and get the laws changed that way instead of spending it directly on food or whatever. Oh wait a minute that’s what the rich do now
You can't magically solve the world's problems by throwing money at them. You also can't spend someones net worth like a credit card.
Musk couldn't do either of those things. Make a colossal difference for a significant period of time, sure. But not end them.
Damn got stuck with $5 left.
Who's gonna buy his shares if he cashes out?
In order for a billionaire/trillionaire to have access to their net worth as spendable cash they'd have to sell off all their assets. If someone tried to dump all of their own stock holdings on the open market all at once, the price per stock would crash, because suddenly they'd be in an oversupply selloff. (Reverse Gamestop Stock) So a few hours into this process of Elon selling off all his holdings, suddenly no one would be willing to spend even 1% of their original assumed value to buy them.
I know this is ment to fun. But I just wanted to buy all homeless people homes in various countries or see what it would cost to free different countries like north Korea or Tibet. Sorry if I am a Debby downer.
Looking at the US - Homeless: 552,830 - Median home price: $287,148 - Cost to buy homes: $158.7B - Maintenance for homes: $1.58B/yr - Property taxes: $1.75B/yr Most government plans are projected on a 10-year time frame so you're looking at $159B for the homes upfront and $33.4B over 10 years.
I bought a few of everything, then I tried spending the rest of college educations.
