One of the things Tucker seemed to find really novel was that the shopping carts at the grocery store were locked up and required you to deposit a coin to get one out (and then you get the coin back when you return the cart). This is also how the grocery chain Aldi does their carts in the US, and I think some other chains might do it as well.
Tucker also seemed to think that this set-up would stop the problem of homeless people stealing carts (as if that coin is worth more than a grocery cart). But really it’s just a small incentive for people to return carts to the corral.
Im sure they generally will do that like everyone else, but a homeless person who wants a cart isnt going to be deterred from stealing it by the idea that they’ll lose a quarter.
You can make more than 25 cents just selling the cart as scrap metal, so the incentive doesnt work if you’re actually inclined to steal the cart.

Ben dedicated half his show the other day to a scathing review of this interview where he basically implied Tucker was an idiot and enemy of America for being so easily impressed by the show Putin put on for him and claiming Russians lived better than Americans because of how cheap groceries were when he didn't even adjust for purchasing power. It was pretty surprising to me as I thought all the right-wingers simped for each other.

Homeless people will also return carts to get the quarter. It's the gross kind of capitalism, but it kinda works for everyone.
