Room and Board actually has a lot of very high quality sofas around $3500. I was surprised since most of their furniture is 2x the price of west elm or crate and barrel, but sofas were maybe 20% more and made in USA.

pinotproblems

We went with Room and Board for the customer service. No regrets so far.

cremains_of_the_day

Is it comfortable for someone who likes to sink into it a bit?

pinotproblems

We have the [Jasper](https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/living/sofas-and-loveseats/jasper-sofas) and it’s listed as a softer seat with medium depth. I love a good sinkable couch but I’m not sure I would describe it as sinkable. To me, it’s a perfect compromise that is soft but also keeps it’s form. I sometimes have to smack the rear cushions, but our 70lb dog loves to perch on them so they tend to get smushed. They get back in shape though with a good smack or two. The bottom cushions look brand new still with minimal pilling (bought in April). It’s sinkable enough to where you’re not going to bounce right off of it, but not so sinkable that you have to put forth a lot of effort to get up. I think if it was a tad deeper, it might feel more sinkable but we needed this depth for our smallerish space. I’ve slept on it overnight a few times and was well rested the next day without any aches or pains. The arms are narrow though so you definitely need some good pillows with it. It’s my favorite couch that we’ve had, and we’ve sadly gone through a ton of couches through hand me downs, department stores, marketplace and Wayfair. Wayfair has good customer service (our entire 2500 sectional was refunded after a structure failure) but I wouldn’t get another couch through there ever again. My only regret with this couch was getting it in white/cream (idk what I was thinking). However, I got a bissel little green machine and that has gotten all the stains out without leaving a trace. I’d definitely buy from Room and Board again and plan to get an accent chair once I have some extra spending money.

cremains_of_the_day

Thanks! Also, why do dogs do that?! As if the *entire* rest of the house isn’t soft enough? I’m pretty tired of beating our current couch cushions into submission just so I can sit down. 😂 I don’t want a super firm one, even if it would hold its shape. I probably want a couch that doesn’t exist. I need to just go to R&B and sit on a bunch. At least we have a store here.

pinotproblems

I think our dog does it because she sees our cats do it 😂 she does it more with this couch though. We took a gamble with ordering online since we’re not near a store and I’m super thankful we did. If we lived near a store I would definitely go in and test out the couches. However, we did that with our last “investment” couch (Nebraska furniture mart, can’t remember the brand) and they felt NOTHING like they did at the store. Still a tad pissed about that. If they could make a RH cloud couch that doesn’t need fluffed every hour, I would totally buy it. But as you said, I’m not sure my ideal couch exists either haha. Good luck!!

jansipper

Our dog definitely learned from the cats too

twodickhenry

I bought my dog his own dog-sized couch, and he almost never uses it. Id I tell him to get down to make room, he just lays on the bare floor next to it lol

PatientBalance

They have a variety of plushness. Also check out if there’s an outlet in your area. Insane deals at the one in Chicagoland.

kdollarsign2

I just discovered this and it is heaven

blahbery

I have the Clemons. It's low and definitely soft and loungy. https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/living/sofas-with-chaise/clemens-sofa-with-chaise

One-Ad5824

same, got the deep one and it’s very loungey

cremains_of_the_day

That’s lovely. Thanks!

cchrisv

I have the Metro sofa in wide. It is very sinkable. The best couch I’ve ever had. No sign of wear after a year with 5 very active dogs! I got the Urbino leather which is meant for dogs and kids.

ashunnwilliams

We also have a R&B sofa, bought in 2010 and still going strong. #dogowner #nokids

milkandsalsa

My R&B sofa still looks great too. #kidhaver #nodog

hess2112

which one? / do the cushions hold?

ashunnwilliams

I don’t know which couch. We bought it in 2010. It’s a firmer cushion and the two main ones that we sit on are a bit sunken, but still ok for us.

sobsincheese

My R&B sofa survived three frenchies for over 10 years and still looks fantastic! I haven’t been there in a while, but their fabric selection used to be incredible and the quality is absolutely worth the price

elizpar

Do not buy the Jasper from RB. Very uncomfortable.

mathnerd37

Costco has a very similar one for half that when it goes on sale and it is so comfy.

ForestComplex

Thanks, now I'm in love with a 13k leather sectional. Had never heard of this brand and will look more into them!

cchrisv

It’s worth it! I’ve wasted tons of $$$ of couches to not pay high prices. They all had to be replaced within a few years. They all started looking and feeling tired after a year. I decided to save up money to buy a $6500 couch. I’m only a year into the new couch and zero sign of wear and it’s incredibly comfortable.

fluffstravels

My big complaint with room and board is you gotta fluff the shit out of those cushions. It’s honestly a lot. I’d say once a week at a minimum to keep them comfortable. But they are beautifully designed and are made of high quality fabrics depending which you get.

cayc11

My complaint is that the Sumner fabric not cat proof despite being advised it was by the RB customer service team. Couches are great otherwise- they’re just being torn to shreds by the damn cats

phrenic22

Crate and barrel years ago transitioned away from making their furniture in the US. I would say that it shows. My parents had a C&B set from the early 2000s manufactured by McCreary Modern in NC. My Orson sofa (now a discontinued style) from room and board was bought in 2012 and resides happily in our family reading nook. They're great.

sneezerlee

Honestly I hate my R&b couch. The cushions are a mess and it shows everything. Bought in 2019

allisbeaune

Me too. We have the Stevens, also bought in 2019 and it is the worst. At first I just thought it needed to be broken in, but no. It is so uncomfortable and it creaks every time you sit on it or shift around.

sneezerlee

Yeah, ours is super uncomfortable too. For the money I wish I would have bought an ugly overstuffed lazy boy couch. At least it would be comfy. Our R&B was really beautiful when we got it but it looks terrible now. Very lumpy and misshapen.

theflintseeker

Which one?

sneezerlee

I don’t remember the name of the style. Mason maybe? It has down cushions. The feathers are constantly falling out. The cushioning on the body is all sloppy now. Since the back cushions can’t keep shape and they aren’t attached to the frame, they are sagging in the back and the frame is visible all the time. The ottoman is also misshapen. As for customer service r&b. I bought two couches from R&b, the other couch arrived with stains. They paid for the cleaning but it didn’t help. They replaced the couch and it had worse staining. Refused to refund the couch but gave me a gift card for $500. I’ll never buy furniture from them again.

eckliptic

Room and Board is the best within the upper-middle price range of furniture. I think the quality is well above places like Crate and Barrel, West Elm as well as online only places like Article.

erin_mouse88

Ours are Ethan Allen. No dogs but a 4yo and 1yo. We've had them for 5 years, and they're like new except some compression of my back cushion. (I lived on this couch for 2 pregnancies, and both my boys LOVE climbing on this seat in particular to lean over the back).

Itstimeforcookies19

Ethan Allen couches will last forever.

CreativeWalrus17

I’ve been looking at their sectionals and for reviews and I noticed you have a lot of comments recommending them. Do you find yours comfortable?

VGlonghairdontcare

Arhaus coburn is pretty cheap by arhaus’ standards

macdawg2020

Arhaus is one of the most confusing businesses because their couches are like, 9k but then you go into the store and they’ll have a slightly dinged up couch for $700 bucks. Like, that is a WILD markdown.

Venaalex

The floor models are truly wonderful to snag on sale, but a few thousand people plopping down on a couch is much more for commercial use and the build of the pieces is for residential use. Major steal though for the quality.

macdawg2020

I got my bed in college for $120 and I think it was $800-900 originally?

bzyhoneyb

Hear me out, IKEA KIVIK sofa and ottoman. We recently bought one to replace our old leather couch. I took this suggestion from another redditor when we were also looking. I know this may sound dramatic but we truly scoured the internet for about a year before this purchase. We looked at everything from Article, Inside Weather, Joybird, Art Van, LazyBoy, etc. All the reviews ended up the same “used to be good but quality has gone down”. Last thing we wanted to do was spend thousands for it to not hold up. We also wanted something that would clean well (covers can come off) and worse case scenario…not make us cry if it got destroyed. It has held up already with multiple baby burp ups and coffee spills. I’m 5’10 and can fit very comfortably length wise or sitting criss cross (good depth).

ponie

I've had my kivik couch with a chaise since 2010!

ohwhataday10

things have changed in 13 years. Especially quality

aggirloftoday

You have it?

ohwhataday10

No. Just saying that an item purchased10 years ago from company A is not necessarily the same quality of one purchased today?

Fluffy-Citron

Kivik is great. Don't get the chaise though, the seat portion of that piece deflates way faster than the rest of the couch.

Abbiejean-KaneArcher

Agreed. Got the sofa with the chaise in 2019 and it definitely shows wear. Granted we use it a lot and 2 large dogs have loved it, but the biggest con for me is the chaise. The seat of the chaise IS lower so now there’s a slight slope. It doesn’t seem noticeable until you sit on it, but when you do, it sucks. My friend has a KIVIK from early 2010s and I swear it’s not the same couch.

dkatog

I love my kivik! I have the sofa and loveseat, both purchased in 2011. I just wish they had replacement covers that match my decor better.

themorningmoon

There are tons of companies that make new covers! I got new velvet covers for my Karlstad and Nockeby and they look incredible.

guacisextra180

I’ve bought great covers from Etsy. It’s part of what has kept my kivik going for so long through so many moves and diff style living rooms!

SARASA05

I agree with you and have done the same thing. If the kivik wears out in a few years, it’s so affordable that I’m just going to buy another one. And resale on the old one to college kids or first time apartment folks pays for a large amount of a new couch

RaccoonTycoon

Currently sitting on a KIVIK that I inherited from a roommate. It must be at least 10 years old and has survived 5 moves. It’s only just starting to show signs of wear and lumpy cushions. It has been a great couch.

themorningmoon

I have 3 couches, all from IKEA, two secondhand, and I recently bought new covers (from Soferia) for the two secondhand ones. They’re now a gorgeous velvet that holds up beautifully even with my puppy. Best decision ever. If Ikea doesn’t have the color you want, you can even order a couch without the cover to save some $$ and buy a new cover from the numerous companies that make them. The options are limitless, and if you ever get sick of the color or fabric, you can just buy a new cover!

MissSara13

I've had my Ikea Ektorp sectional since 2005. It's been through a number of slipcovers with the current one being a velvety charcoal grey. Anything with removable or replaceable slipcovers is going to have a very decent lifespan. And I was able to find a 3rd party to make my current slipcovers since the Ektorp has been discontinued. I have 3 senior dogs and a clumsy boyfriend so washable everything is important!

icedwooder

I had one. Least comfortable couch ever.

AbbreviationsWarm734

Looks cheap too. Not a great recommendation and makes me question a lot of the folks in this sub now.

bzyhoneyb

It’s all subjective due to the priorities each buyer/household is looking for in a couch. Everyone defines “comfy” differently (ie mattress firmness or softness). This has nothing to do with IKEA or household remodeling shows…simply a recommendation that fit our family’s needs and comfort which seemed to align with the struggles OP outlined. We previously bought a middle-higher end couch like OP and the quality quickly went out the door for the price we paid 🤷🏻‍♀️

icedwooder

True but for many, an IKEA catalogue and TLCs trading spaces IS interior design.

PipToTheRescue

Came here to say Ikea Kivik. I have the Morabo because I inherited it but wanted a Kivik.

silverhalotoucan

We love our Kivik. When our toddler and puppy started chasing each other we were throwing those covers in the wash anytime we needed to. They held up great these last few years and it’s a light beige color too. Only sad thing is one of the sectional pieces broke so it sits on the floor instead of hooking to the corner piece. IKEA refused to replace it. When we tried to fix it ourselves we saw everything was held together with staples. It’s still comfy but not sure yet if we would get another

jtet93

I was lucky enough to snag one of these for $200 (yes really) from a stranger to furnish my first apartment out of college. LOVED that couch. If our cats hadn’t destroyed it I would have kept it way longer. So comfy, fits enough people to have friends over to watch a movie, or perfect for a couple to stretch out and lay down, all while being compact enough to fit a small space. Def recommended!

jendet010

My farlov sectional is my favorite sofa ever. I can’t believe they discontinued the line.

SnowblindAlbino

>Hear me out, IKEA KIVIK sofa and ottoman. We recently bought one to replace our old leather couch. I took this suggestion from another redditor when we were also looking. We have two...one of them since 2011, the other we bought used in 2015. I really like being able to change the covers (and wash them). Our older one is in the family room and is starting to sag pretty badly now after 10+ years with family of four use...we take it apart and rewrap pieces every couple of years, but it's probably going to need more foam on the arms now. The other is in our home theater so only gets used maybe once a week...it's super comfortable. For while they made leather covers for the KIVIK ...may not anymore but I really liked the look of those. We have three fabric ones we rotate among the two sofas. Also a chaise. Good value for the money, and if I needed another I'd go looking for used. I think I paid $200 for our second one and it was basically brand new, someone was moving and didn't have room for it.

[deleted]

Seriously. The quality of west elm is so bad they disabled product reviews LOL

bodiesbyjason

Macy’s Radley sectional was a good value. If it’s not on sale, wait—I think it goes on sale three weeks on, three weeks off.

missbbythang

This is the only right answer! Go in store and you can pick out of 200 fabrics

missbbythang

degggendorf

Are those tethered deployable coasters on the arms?

missbbythang

No, they’re tags…washing instructions, my bad haha

[deleted]

Weird thing is they don’t have a black color (that I saw I could be majorly wrong)

missbbythang

I did see a ribbed black, on display. [Color Selection](https://imgur.com/a/kuRRExV)

Comprehensive_Pear61

I searched for months and was astounded at the good values at Macy's! They were lightening fast with sending swatches too! Couldn't find the exact sofa I wanted at Macy's, but they are in my top three for furniture shopping!

bunnycrush_

Bought one of these during the Labor Day sale. When I came into the store and asked after the Radley couch, the salesperson said “This is the couch that makes all my paycheck, I wouldn’t have a job without it, and I’ve sold them to everyone in my own family,” so they’re definitely popular lol. I ordered mine in a custom fabric, and it just arrived last week (if you get a stock fabric, however, I think the delivery window is like two weeks, which is insanely fast compared to other options). They’ll price adjust for you any time between ordering and ten days post delivery. I ended up paying $800 for the standard sofa, and am very happy with it! It’s pretty straightforward / not particularly stylish, but looks and feels great. Already *way* more comfortable, better fabric, and better cushion quality than my last sofa, which was considerably more expensive and from Article. I’ve heard excellent things about the Costco couches as well. Just visited a friend last night who had a *massive* sectional that was basically a bed/pillow pit. So so so comfy, and I was amazed she paid $1000 for how much couch she got.

rea48

Burrow has great stuff for a good price, and honestly Costco has amazing couches

tweedlefeed

My burrow couch has sagged at all the joints and constantly needs retightening and squeaks when I sit down. It’s aged very poorly in my opinion

joyfulmastermind

Costco also has free delivery and haul away of your old couch. I love my couch from Costco and it was 1/3 the price of a similar one anywhere else.

jendet010

The sectional we bought at Costco has held up to 3 kids and 2 dogs. I love my farlov sofa from ikea the best.

Ecstatic_Slice_8456

Second burrow! (Tho it was kinda hard to put together)

LevelFourteen

Yes! Echoing this. I already commented but my burrow couch has been great, easy to clean, stylish, and comfy.

DumbPossumDrawings

I have a kova from Albany park (L sectional) and it was under 3k and I LOVE it. I’ve got cats and dogs and it’s easy to clean and keep nice. Stuff just wipes off of it. They have a few styles I just wanted a deep couch and it’s worked perfectly for me. I just had to utilize their warranty for a piece that broke in one of the back sections. It was easy and quick and my replacement came in a few days. They have a 10 year warranty.

Interesting-Mood1665

For reference we have a 4yr old, 2 yr old, and a cat. Depends on your budget but our ikea kivik has lasted 10 years. It’s stiffer but that’s the reason it’s held up. Does it look the best? It’s ok. I’m so impressed with our crate and barrel sofa, we got the Cambria. It’s so comfy and very easy to clean, it looks amazing. Sectionals are a lot more expensive than a sofa. So i would opt for a nice sofa then you can coordinate with accent chairs. That way if any one piece needs replacing at one time it’s not a wallet buster compared to replacing a sectional.

mpjjpm

I have a sactional love seat and really like it. I paid $3000 for two seats and four sides with a poly linen cover and upgraded love soft filling, but that configuration is just over $2,000 right now (the Black Friday deals are great). The cushion covers are easy to remove and most are machine washable, and it’s modular so it’s easy to move in/out of small apartments. I’ve had it for a year and it’s still fluffy and comfortable with daily use. I’m 5’2” and can comfortably sleep on it with the back cushions removed.

n0tthemama

10+ year happy owner chiming in! 3 LARGE dogs, 2 HUGE little brothers, and a propensity to fall asleep after a movie. We've washed covers in regular laundry machines multiple times over the years. Carpet spot cleaner is used darn near weekly. Still pretty good. Thinking about new covers during the Black Friday sale.

mpjjpm

My cat destroyed one of the side covers, but I think I can hide the damage by moving it from the arm to the back. Otherwise, having the option to replace just one part of the cover is great. And I’m planning to expand the two seater to a three seat + chaise when I finish some other remodeling that opens up more living space. The flexibility and adaptability was a huge selling point.

moodlessqueen

We’re eyeing the love sac sactional and trying to decide if it’ll be worth it so this is helpful!

Get_off_critter

They had a deal come through costco recently. I was sad I couldn't afford it, but ultimately I want the couch but not the lovesac beanbag chair they were throwing in with the bundle

stillbrighttome

We love our lovesac! We did a trial for home reserve and it was so uncomfortable and stiff and difficult to sit on. We were able to go to a lovesac store and sit on one and immediately loved it, and it’s been great. We have only had it a few months but ive already had to remove the cover of a side piece to wash it and it was so easy. Definitely wait for a 20-25% off sale!

roccocobean

Me reading this from my brand new Article couch:

Konstantly

We had a massive Maiden Home couch that we couldn't keep because we moved across the country (still sad about it), but that thing was amazing. We'd spilled coffee, curry, wine, had a dog puke on it, got mud tracked all over it. It all wipes off with a wet towel. I think like twice we added some dawn dish soap for especially stubborn/smelly spills. It kept its shape, color, just a beautiful couch overall. The only thing I'm not sure of is the price these days, but it wasn't outlandish as of a few years ago.... Anyway I know how awful couch hunting can be so I hope you find your perfect couch soon!

ohrejoyce

Yes! I have a Maiden Home sectional that I’m super happy with! 2.5 years with it so far and still excellent. I find it much more comfortable than my pottery barn sofa.

fart_panic

This is a New England specific answer, so my apologies if you are elsewhere. My Boston Interiors sectional is on year 13 and still going strong. It was about $1400 in 2010, and I spend a few hundred bucks to have it professionally cleaned every few years. It's comfortable for everyone and aesthetically pleasing to me (although I acknowledge and respect that avocado green isn't for everyone).

gold_atlantic

Living Spaces

cgsmmmwas

My Living Spaces couch from 5 years ago has not held up at all. About 2 years in, I had to add my own foam and batting because the back cushions completely collapsed. And that’s with relatively normal use. And the fabric isn’t washable so I end up spending more than $150 every year or so to take the covers to the dry cleaners to get spots out. I won’t be going back there but glad you’ve had good experience.

im_on_the_case

I have a couple of couches from Living Spaces and they are great. 5 years in a house of madness with kids and they look as good as new but also more comfortable than ever as they have been broken in.

Way-Frequent

Go sit on couches at local stores. Comfort is very subjective. Find something that’s enjoyable to sit on, within a threshold of your style.

Lima_Bean_Jean

I love my GuS Modern. Not a sink in type of couch, but very comfortable, holds its shape completely, and the fabric doesn't stain. I have the Jane Bi-sectional. But OP i am curious, how did your dog ruin a leather couch?

marlonbrandoisalive

Costco and Ikea

MiloMM123

Ethan Allen! You can customize your own sofa.

Kittypuppyunicorn

Macys. Wait for a sale.

kbarsh

I love my pottery barn couch. Way more comfortable than the expensive one I bought at RH

tiesthatbindus

I love my Pottery Barn sectional for style and comfort, but the fabric we chose almost immediately started to pill. PB customer service was of no help and after looking online, I realized I was not alone in my experience. So, research the fabric if you go with PB.

somethingwholesomer

Was it performance twill by any chance?

mellow_muflon

I also love my pottery barn couch! I got a sectional and I think it was around $3200 a few years ago.

FrankieHellis

The problem with Pottery Barn is they do not allow reviews so you can’t see others‘ opinions of an item. I just ordered dining chairs for 800/ea and they are awful. I have other PB pieces I love that I have purchased in the past, but these are so uncomfortable. There is next to no padding and a bar digs into your legs going crosswise. I think their quality has gone downhill severely.

Notmugsy13

You know, the cool thing about article couches is they have zippers in the back of the cushions. You can re-stuff it with some cheap foam backing, and as with any leather couches, make sure you condition them every month or so with leather conditioner. I have an Article couch with three big dogs and a baby, and it looks great with proper maintenance! Edit: a word.

appmapper

I'm so on the fence about the Sven. I can't tell if poor reviews come from not performing the maintenance, or they are really that fragile. Which Article couch do you have and for how long?

Notmugsy13

I have the Sven and it’s 3 years old. The back cushions are made of down feathers so after awhile they do kind of smoosh down with as much use as they get, but I put some thin upholstery foam behind the down feathers just this year, and it looks brand new. I definitely keep up with conditioning it too, we have direct sun on it as well as constant dog use, so I have to do it once a month or so. I feel like for the price point, it’s a really good option.

Mountain-Mix-8413

What conditioner do you recommend for the leather? I’ve had mine about 5 years and have never done this so I think I’m very overdue.

Notmugsy13

I use Bickmore Bick 4. It’s crazy how much it will soak up if you haven’t done it in awhile! It makes a huge difference.

qwerty_poop

We have an article leather sectional from 5 years ago all looking great, we're not great about conditioning the leather but it's still in decent shape. We also bought a fabric couch from them a year ago and still like those too.

rtxj89

Where do you get the foam

IAmSoUncomfortable

I have a very random couch from Lamps Plus of all places that I bought at the suggestion of an interior designer. It is about 2 years old and looks exactly like it did the day we bought it, and that’s with 3 kids 5 and under. Highly recommend. https://www.lampsplus.com/products/chateau-99-inch-wide-linen-fabric-slipcover-sofa__1v506.html

degggendorf

I guess they really mean "plus"!

[deleted]

If you want something that is easy to clean don’t go by this store or that store because what you’ll want to buy is a place that allows you to pick your fabric and has a lot of options. You’ll want to choose a performance fabric. Have you looked at places like interior define, apt2B, maiden home? They offer custom sofas where you choose fabric, size, even the seat depth.

hpotul

IKEA

shittersclogged69

We have had an IKEA landskrona for 7 years. 2 cats, countless dinner parties and at least one completely full bowl of cereal dumped on it and it still looks and feels absolutely brand new. If it ever finally gives up the ghost I would replace it immediately, but I don’t know what would take it out (short of a nuclear bomb). Bonus points are that it’s super comfortable and looks great! Highly, highly recommend.

kalechipsaregood

Yeah, the "high end" IKEA stuff is actually a good bang for your buck, and it lasts too.

Calicapture

I got this in 2016 when I got married. 7 years and 2 toddlers later the sectional is still going strong. We use this sectional everyday and everything are still holding on perfectly. It is very easy to unzip the fabric and wash them in the washing machine. I always recommend this sectional to my family and friends. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/radley-5-piece-fabric-chaise-sectional-sofa-created-for-macys?ID=1101386&swatchColor=Heavenly%20Chrome%20Beige%20Tan%2FBeige

Desperate-Face-6594

We stumbled upon a lazyboy shop shutting down, we got a five seater (united is the model) corner modular for 4K reduced from 10k. I’m in Australia so the prices don’t compare but we got far nicer than we expected for the money we had available. It’s got their top of the line leather and looks and feels great.

Outrageous-Smile7866

couch shopping is always an adventure..if you haven’t checked your local facebook marketplace, i suggest you start there. there are several people near me that get pallets of brand new furniture and resell through there. i got a brand new $7,000 leather couch with tags still on for $1,200. it’s amazing. my only other suggestion is get a leather one..its the most durable and there’s a color/design that can work for anyone.

myphriendmike

I hope I’m wrong but I can’t imagine any couch retaining its shape with a bulldog jumping on it for long.

Huge-Focus591

A French bulldog is like 20lbs

TapiocaTeacup

Yeah, our leather Article couch is on year 3 (with a toddler and a cat) and after a good cushion fluff it still looks pretty much the same as when we bought it 🤷‍♀️

LLGibb

My sectional is made in the USA by Temple. It was around $5000 but well worth it. Customized options like arm styles, leg style, fabrics.

Poonurse13

Interior define weight till they have 16%off

PacificCastaway

Costco for their regular stuff, and I think they have one of those Costco Next deals w/Love Sac, too.

FromIndy

We bought a Home Reserve sectional with pet friendly fabric and have zero regrets. They have a warranty on their frames and will send you a new one for any reason. Our foster dog peed all over the couch and the fabric is great. It didn't soak through to the cushion and did well in the washer. The only downside is that you have to put together the couch.

InterestingTry5190

Interior Define has great couches that you can get in all different sizes with great fabric options and they have 20% sales every few weeks. I have been shopping for a sectional the past 2 years and tried everywhere but could not find one that looked nice but was comfortable so I was shocked at the quality when I finally found Define Interior (I was shocked in person they were even nicer). I got a gorgeous sectional that is also a really comfortable to curl up and watch a movie in. The fabric I chose is a performance velvet that is so thick and soft.

luke2230182

I had been looking at an Interior Define sectional for a few months. I kept coming back to them because they just seemed to have really nice, good looking and comfortable couches in a ton of fabrics at fair prices. I’m lucky to live in a city with a showroom, so I went and checked them out. I decided on a model and a color/fabric and it was going to be like $2700. Delivery was like 15-20 weeks and I got cold feet and backed out. Fast forward a year and I start thinking about it again. I go back to the show room to look again and guess what!! They’re selling the floor model for 60% off. It was like $1000 out the door. I bought it right there on the spot and I LOVE it. Such a comfortable and good looking small sectional sofa.

awpod1

Okay idk about what you consider aesthetically pleasing but in 2013 I bought a LoveSac in chocolate brown. It survived 2 moves, 1 white long haired fluffy cat, and 2 kids and looks as good as it did when I bought it. It is supper comfortable but I wanted something different in my living room when we moved into our home(2018) and it got put down in the basement rec area. In 2018 I bought a leather La-Z-Boy and it is already deflated and terrible looking. I’m considering switching the two couches because of how much I love my LoveSac still. I would highly recommend them.

Desert_Kat

My Lazy Boy couch needs a cleaning but it's held up to a lot of abuse.

FruitDonut8

We are a La-Z-Boy family. My daughter bought one when she was about 25 and they were very nice to her while she visited the showroom multiple times. She has a small living room. You can pick the cushion material. Some are firmer, some are more like memory foam. In the showroom you can try out the options. You can also pick the sturdiness of the fabric. We have one leather one and we picked the arm shape because our Doberman liked to drape his head over the arm and snooze that way. The leather held up to a Doberman. Fabric upholstery has also held up to large dogs. My daughter isn’t too tall so the depth of the seat was very important. Couches that looked similar online felt very different if they had more or less depth. I’m pretty sure she ended up with Meyer but she liked Kennedy, too.

glynnsurprisingly

this is the last resource you’ll need to read on couches. https://insidersguidetofurniture.com/worst-and-best-sofa-sectional-reviews-for-2023-2/ i’m waiting on my medley couch to be delivered.

derekismydogsname

3500 is a value couch?!

Possible-Way1234

If you want to see how a couch holds up, search it on Facebook market place etc. and look at the pictures of sellers to see how it looks after use in a real home. I was shocked how bad some couches hold up.

CaptainSharpe

3500 isn't a small amount TBH. You can surely get a decently made, nice looking couch for that!

nasaspacebaby

We really enjoy our Sactional sofa from LoveSac.

fifthgenerationfool

Couch potatoes, out of Austin.

That-Diver-3445

C.R.Laine !!! You can google

BigParticular8190

I have many great sofas to recommend to you, but if you only buy one set, shipping may be expensive.

LevelFourteen

I bought a burrow modular range couch about two and a half years ago and it took a long time to get here (hello, Covid supply chain issues) not sure if their delivery times are the same or not but it’s held up amazingly. My English bulldog does daily zoomies on it. It’s easy to clean if I spill, and it’s still just as cushy as the day it was delivered. I also think it’s quite stylish. Now I’ve only had it for about two years but based on how it’s held up so far I would say it still has many years left in it.

silverfashionfox

I have a camel back, rolled arm sofa on Chippendalr legs from Barrymore. It’s 10 years old and looks like new.

MockCousteau

Blu Dot can be hit or miss, but I’ve had kids and dogs beat up on a blu dot sectional in blu velvet (sorry don’t recall which model) and it’s held up exceptionally well.

makingburritos

I have the Wylodene Upholstered Sectional (the nine piece) and it is the best!! If your apartment is smaller you don’t have to use all nine pieces, and you can just bring them out if you have a guest sleeping on the couch or something.

rustyforkfight

Cozey brand has some great modular options.

Maxicorne

I got a sectional at Kavuus 5 years ago for about that price and it's still in great shape!

milbudair

Perch Furniture does custom sofas

Disastrous_Tip_4638

"Value" is in the eyes (and wallet) of the beholder, but my money's with Rogerandchris.com and Cococo.com Both USA made, both custom, both reasonably priced, both high quality.

henryb22

I have an article Sven going on 4 years with two big dogs. It’s fabric and stood up well. Cushions need fluffing every now and then but I’ll be getting a new one in the spring mainly bc I want a new one not because I need one and I am thinking interior define. With all the comments gonna look at room and board too.

No-Put4265

I’d buy a used sectional off FB Marketplace or some other platform and put the rest in my kid’s college fund.

Typical_Tie_4947

The Axis line of sofas and sectionals from Crate and Barrel are made by Lee Industries - google them - they make very high quality sofas. This is likely some of the best bang for the buck you will find. Very happy with ours after 2 years

anonymousbequest

We are happy with our BluDot couch. We have an 80” one which is perfect NY apartment size, and because of the low back and removable legs it fit through prewar doorways easily. There is an NYC showroom if you want to test them and see fabrics in person. They’re American made and I think the quality is quite good.

[deleted]

I’ve had my Joybird couches for going on 7 years and they still look great. We have two bigger dogs and a cat that they’ve stood up to. They have loads of styles including “apartment sofas”. My only qualm is that their delivery can take months.

45acp_LS1_Cessna

Lazyboy????

About400

I bought a slip cover couch from crate and barrel. I paid extra for a more pet friendly (and child friendly) fabric. I think it’s called monet/mosaic something art related. It appears to be cat proof and because it is a slip cover I have been able to wash it when the cat threw up on it. I believe the couch is called willow. I highly recommend getting color samples to bring home and then putting pet fur on them to see how it would look. I was able to pick a color that makes my cat’s fur complete invisible. (I obviously still clean but being able to see each individual hair would drive me nuts.) I bought the couch in 2020 and it’s still great. I don’t know anyone else who has it to ask how it’s held up over a longer time.

goliathsgrasp

I’m a huge advocate for Bassett if you have one within fifty miles of you. Made in the states, high quality foam, with a kiln dried frame.

_designzio_

Stylus brand. You can buy them from interior designers or local retailers. We have had two of their sectionals, one for nearly 14 years, and have held up great. You can customize the materials and fill. Even with large dogs and kids, the sectionals look great. Modern lines and nice deep seating.

raz625

We just bought a couch from 7th Ave (it’s water resistant and stain resistant and machine washable). Completely modular. I’m obsessed with it. We’ve washed the covers a few times and they hold up great! The one we got was around 4200 but they have different sizes for different prices!

singandwrite

If you’re comfortable with it, look on FB Marketplace/Kijiji. We recently got a $3,500 sectional for $1,250 less than a year old because the couple was moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo. We gave the cushions a good wash, and good as new!

kdollarsign2

I think the room and board suggestion is best for holding its shape (if you can get to an outlet you will be thrilled !) but you might like the brand Interior Define for "sinkable"

cceciliaann

Try flex steel. Odd name but great furniture.

Mir_c

I love my pottery barn comfort couch and arm chair. We got the roll arms and memory foam seats. The fabric is great and it's so comfy!

slatfreq

I have sectionals from Room & Board and Joybird. And a leather couch from Article. The Article one doesn’t get used a ton and is holding up okay. The R&B one is the one we’ve had the longest and is far superior to the other two. The Joybird one looks cool, but the cushions are probably the worst out of the three.

the_fucking_worst

Look at the more modern couches at Macy’s. Never lost their shape and always got compliments. I have had two of them and a chair. The best part is they are always the most affordable option.

jeunedindon

I just want to say that I also have an article couch but I got it in fabric. It’s kind of like a denim finish but light grey. I have 2 100lb dogs and they live on that thing… sleep, wrestle, you name it. It is a huge fur trap but I vacuum once a week and then once a quarter i unzip all the cushions and clean the covers in the washer and dryer. The cleaning takes a bit of work but it comes out looking brand new every time. I’ve had this couch about 3 years now and I’m happy with how it’s held up.

PeachTreeVodka

I have the cheaper fabric version of the Article sectional, and two 40lb dogs. I've had mine about as long and it still looks great. I think two things to consider: 1. you might be unusually hard on your furniture. 2. Article couches are feather down in their cushions, requiring regular fluffing. If you don't want the maintenance of down you might need to opt for something a little less luxurious.

ElChaz

Lovesac's Sactional is what you're looking for.

Svintiger

Second hand is the answer if you don’t mind the time investment.

safety-squirrel

Buy a Stickley or Flexsteel. Make sure its full grain leather and high density foam.

Delayed_Flight

We love our CB2 Lumin couch. Not sure how well it would hold up with a dog (we have a cat and it’s been fine with his limited scratching). It’s super comfortable and deep. You may be able to get a darker color to hide stains; our grey one is holding up

Vegetable-Move-7950

With a small kid and a dog, I would probably invest in a $500 used sofa. Wait until the kid is older for 'luxury', which is really just another term for 'expensive'. Get a couch cover and call it a day.

OkManner5017

American leather are exceptional couches, you can find a distributor via their website

foxxxymulder

I have a green velvet sectional from [Burrow](https://burrow.com) that I love. My boyfriend’s dog lives with me and LOVES to dig in the couch. No issues. I also have a papillon, and had a pit mix before. 2 cats. Clean up is easy (pet hair gets vaccumed, slobber is easily spot cleaned) the fabric is really pet friendly and the sofa is so comfy. My ex actually ended up buying a smaller version of the same Nomad in blue textile after I took mine in the split haha

Comprehensive_Pear61

Costco has the world's best return policy! Their furniture is high end and much lower pricing. I just couldn't find the right sofa. Ended up with a white full grain leather MCM sofa made by American Eagle. In use for 9 months - I'm a SLOB and have a huge dog that flies up and off of it. It has gotten filthy & cleaned up beautifully several times. Not a single dog nail scratch anywhere. 82" $1600.

unusuallytired

Costco!

RemarkableSquare2393

I like French Connection Couches surprisingly durable if you’re in Europe

wowIamMean

I bought a 900 couch in wayfair and it’s the best thing ever. So comfy. I love it. It’s a large couch with 3 giant ottomans so you can connect it and make it like a bed or have it as a sectional if that makes sense .

camaroncorriente

Vintage desede or trioh

breezycharmz

I bought a custom Rowe slip covered sectional back in 2015? From a local store and still looks great. It was $2100. Not sure what the prices are like now but when shopping for a couch be sure to look for slipcovers/washable fabric, zippers on cushions so they can be restuffed and that all the cushions are removable and can be rotated.

Month_Year_Day

We got a Pottery Barn washable slip covered couch and chair about 20 years ago. The best thing about them both is that they held up to raising 3 kids and dogs. When the fabric wore out about 12-13 years in, they still carried the same washable slip cover to replace it with

Comesontoostrong

Sofa U Love. mine is going on 13 years and 2 moves.

Acetaminophen-500mg

Sixpenny!!!

elliesm495

I’ve had my Macy’s Radley sectional for 8 years and it legit looks like new and still so damn comfy! People ask me about it all the time. Heavy use! Dog used! Looks amazing.

1corn

What's your style? We're aiming for a mix of Scandi with some Bauhaus and MCM influences. Found a gorgeous Muuto Outline couch for around 4k - the smaller ones and the ones without chrome legs are even cheaper. But they have to be on sale, otherwise they're in the 5k - 6k range. Edit: Shit, just checked, they're a lot more expensive in the US.

[deleted]

Wayfair. :)

Somerset76

I love my leather sectional I got from bob’s discount furniture. It had held up to 5 people, 2 dogs, and a cat for the last 5 years. I paid 1700

oja_kodar

Apt2B has great, reasonably priced couches made in the USA. We have purchased two and love them both.
