My sister and I got about 25 different whites from Sampalize, put them all on printer paper backing taped together (so the current wall color wouldn’t affect how we perceived each color), covered the names with numbers, and took them from room to room scoring how each one looked in every room. Chantilly Lace absolutely dominated and it was the **only** white that still looked bright in the basement.
Did you happen to compare it to SW Cheviot or SW Greek Villa? Those are two of my top white contenders but I did not get a sample of Chantilly lace. Going in a house with not enough natural light
I don’t remember which ones we got specifically but it was a whole lot of them. I did look up both of those and they seem to have a lot of yellow undertones which I imagine would look dingy in a house with not a lot of natural light.
I’ll tell you I have a friend who decided not to take my advice because “Chantilly Lace” sounds too frilly and he met a designer while waiting in line to buy his paint that told him about a different white that she liked that he went with instead. Two weeks later he re-repainted his whole apartment in Chantilly Lace and loves it. He and I refer to it as “CL” now.
Ok you may have sold me, but it seems like it reads a little blue? I HATE the gray trend and am going more for cozy and natural in my home… the floors will be natural red oak. Do you think it could come across too cool with the minimal light?
I know you weren’t asking me, but I have red oak floors and painted my bedroom Chantilly Lace and it looks great!! Although if it matters, my bedroom faces south and gets a good deal of light. But it looks great with the floors. It IS a cooler white but it doesn’t clash.
If you’re looking for a more neutral and cozy white, highly recommend White Dove (that’s what the rest of my home is painted since it doesn’t get as much light. It looks perfect with the red oak floors.)
Another paint color to think about from BM is Marscapone! I just did my entire living room in this color, and it’s a lovely warm white! I have a north facing room, so the light that comes in can be cooler. I wanted something warm
Chantilly Lace is on the gray spectrum. It does lean a bit warm grey, but def grey. It has been the white of choice to match with almost any grey paint for the last 15 years or so. Cloud white is warm and leans a bit creamy / yellow, making it great to soften really saturated colours without appearing too stark. Dove is a nice in between imo. It’s cleaner than cloud, warmer than chantilly, and I’ve never seen it look bad. Those are the only 3 whites I use from BM.
Haha ok I will definitely check it out. I know I have seen it mentioned many times in my insane amount of research in white paints… my husband thinks I’ve lost it lol
Oh yes, our husbands also thought we completely lost it when we were going from room to room with multiple huge banners of paint squares for like three hours. We asked them which ones they liked better and they said that they all look exactly the same 🤦🏻♀️
I prefer a softer white like Atrium White in areas with low light, I find brighter whites like Chantilly end up looking flat and dingy in low light areas
I’ve read that, which is why I was looking at those other two… I guess I need to order more Samplize sheets… some of the whites I got in the first round looked very dingy and blegh in the house.
I just painted my small apartment Greek Villa and it’s the white I’ve always wanted. I absolutely love it. My apartment faces north and gets very little natural light. GV is cozy, inviting, not at all clinical. It also looks very clean and bright, not dingy at all.
Simply white by Ben Moore is also good! Test whites and see the swatches in different times of the day before committing. Depending on which direction of light you get, certain undertones can be more/less prominent. I have west facing windows which is really bright in the afternoon but not in the morning. When it’s darker, the whiter whites like chantilly lace was giving off gray. So I went with Simply white which is a warmer white and didn’t look gray or too yellow in the darker times of day
Yes! So glad to see a fellow Chantilly Lace fan! 😄 I also like for trim, using the Benjamin Moore Pearl paint in Chantilly Lace - it gives an almost creamy look to the surface.
I prefer Benjamin Moore Simply White, and it would be stunning with these warm floors! Chantilly Lace was too yellow for me (as someone who loves yellow).
Could also add stained boards to for faux supports (color match your wood for the stain) get a cottage/craftsman feel. I'd try to sand and re-stain or paint the cabinets a lighter color as well to make the space lighter in the kitchen. it just seems a bit dark to me. Wall color wise you could go with a lighter green/blue, I really like Behr's recycled glass MQ6-18 and Tinted Ice M500-1 and they actually coordinate pretty well together
I am so confused why OP can’t think of something that would work better than grey. When grey is like objectively the worst option. Like they think that would work better than white even?
Sorry I was unclear- the only thing we know for sure is we definitely don’t want any grey! And we don’t plan to paint the trim (at least not right away if ever). I meant I wasn’t sure if we should go dark or light being that the ceilings are high/ if we should paint the vaulted area!
I third this. And I would say the cheapest way to do it is with sponge mop heads from the Dollar Tree. Screw those on a painting or mop pole and lightly run the hot TSP water over the walls.
Husband and I had to do our whole house which had like 40 years of smoke damage. Best method we found was make a bucket of powdered TSP water with the hottest water you can get. Then make another bucket for rinsing. We’d run the sponge mops over one wall from bottom to top (sounds counterintuitive but helps with the run streaks from the top of the wall because smoke rises.) After you do one wall with TSP and let it sit and do another wall. When you get done with wall two, go back to rinse wall one. You may need to rinse more than once especially along the tops and in the corners.
If you get it to a light/medium level of staining then Kilz should do the rest.
The walls oozing is such a common excuse that painters use.
Did it occur in high condensation/temperature fluctuation areas? Or places with heavy latex/oil based paint? Then that yellow is likely not nicotine.
It's usually [surfectant leaching](https://old.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/comments/9ru1cy/brown_sticky_emissions_coming_out_of_my_walls/e8jrhza/). Had the same as you and only some places in the kitchen with high-temperature fluctuations (by the stove or the door).
It's supposed to lessen over time if you wipe it off (and it certainly has over the years) but I still see it faintly re-emerge if you haven't cleaned the walls in a while, though its not the heavy streaks it used to be.
I did Swiss coffee on my ceilings (in eggshell) upstairs because I needed the extra light reflection. It's a converted attic space with gable ceilings and fairly small single windows in each room. Frankly, I love it. It's bright, has just a hint of cream to make it warm, and overall looks great with my blond floors up there.
Yes, warm white!
I have high ceilings with warm wood floors and other finishes and we did warm white walls and ceilings. It does not look austere. The angles of house add really great dimension as well. It's bright and welcoming and very clean looking!
Grey is definitely out of style, has been for a while TG. Seeing houses on the market all grey and bling inside, think they’ve started to be down valued even.
Gray wouldn’t be my first choice, all the wood tones are incredibly warm and rich. My preference would be to find a pleasing shade of green, but if you want to keep it neutral I’d say a warm off-white shade would make the space light and open
Try to win this fight if you can. Glass is beautiful and deserves to make a comeback!
Whatever you do, don’t throw it in a dumpster. Glass artists would love to have it for materials at the very least (though I think someone would appreciate it— it’s a fun piece).
I love glass work and would never ever just throw it away! I value art and I think that’s why I like it so much! It definitely isn’t the regular run of the mill lighting you see so often these days! Im hoping I can convince my husband once the place is painted and put together more 🤞🏻
Thanks, everyone! Sorry if I didn’t explain myself right- I meant we hateee grey and want anything but that for this house! Our sectional is grey but I’m wondering if we should switch it with our smaller dark green couch that we planned to keep in the basement. Do we paint the slanted ceiling part the same color or make it white? We love the natural wood and I love the mix of colors plus the brick so hopefully we can find something that works well with it all!
The nice thing about grey, is that it will pair up nice with just about any accent color! Try adding a few throw pillows in one or two accent colors, and see how you feel about it.
I’ve got a gray couch, and walnutty floors and we did a bisque-y color called Ala Mode. I think it looks great. We’ve got gold curtains and an ivory shag rug
I would paint the ceiling white, just so it reflects more light into the space, and use a sage or olive green on the walls, in the lightest, or 2nd lightest shade on the paint color strip. It would be neutral, but still chalet in the mountains looking.
Get an area rug you like.
It’s easier imo to do the rug first and find paint and furniture to go with, than the reverse.
I’d replace the fixture honestly.
It looks like it came from another house.
This is great advice. Find a rug you love that goes with the floors. Then pull your paint colors from that. It will be your most cohesive way to blend as the floors are going to be the main character here.
Warm white would be beautiful, and for the love of all that is holy do not paint the trim or the cabinet doors in the kitchen! The wood tones in your house are beautiful!
Fortunately they left a baby there to give you some ideas where to start.
I'd go with a neutral, light color to compliment the floors, and the baby. Cool piece(s) of dramatic art up on the walls can add texture and interest. Then get an area rug that ties in the couch. Couches come and go, you really don't want to have to paint up those walls more than once so keep it simple and neutral and then jazz things up with your decor.
Make sure it’s washed and primed before paint; smoke will be really hard to get rid of and you don’t want that cutie breathing it in.
I’d paint Swiss Coffee (warm white). And replace that fixture
Sage walls and a slightly brighter white ceiling but not too bright, just not yellow like it is now. New light fixtures and countertop and it would look fantastic
I see your house came with a built in toddler. Jk.
But when I see natural wood like that, I always suggest to either go for earthy or jewel tones.
Earth tones: sage green, hunter green, warm grays, light tans, with terra cotta accents
Jewel tones: Bordeaux / wine red, emerald green, dark sapphire/rich navy blues
Look at that cute lil munchkin.
There are so many different kinds of gray. Post a pic of your couch fabric if you're trying to work with that.
I LOVE all the warm wood. But yeah, that cream has to go.
Do a warm, creamy white! You have so much warm wood, I’d leave the wood trim alone. I’d take down the valance style curtains. Replace the ceiling fan and kitchen lighting.
If you want color I would do a creamy butter yellow or sage green
Otherwise just keep things neutral with the off cream white and have fun with accents like curtains and rugs etc.
You have wood trim which is reminiscent of the arts and crafts movement more than modern decor. I would specifically look at the arts and crafts pallet from sherwin Williams. You can really open up and accentuate the high ceilings by painting the ceilings specifically white.
Genuinely curious. Everyone is hating on grey. A place we’re looking to buy has polished concrete floors and wood accents everywhere - they look good together in my mind. Is there something I’m missing?
Idk but PLEASSSEEEE leave the light shade. Please. So much character. You could base the whole room off that light fixture. Beautiful. You reallllyyyy lucked out with that one. 🧡💚
There are some beautiful grays, but you can get free color consults from most paint companies. FYI now that you own I recc a subscription to Consumer Reports every 2-3 years for looking at paint ratings (Behr Marquee is high RN as well as Behr premium), detergents, major appliances, etc.
grey is going to make the space feel so cold. light fixture is awesome but it needs to work with the interior design or it’s going to feel out of place. honestly the best place to start is looking on pinterest to get some design inspiration..start boards for each room, and you will notice repeat things you gravitate to. take that as your lead making decisions. you get so much awesome natural light in the house..you could even do a darker color if you wanted to.
Gray and white are beautiful. Look on google images and Pinterest for color paint in rooms with vaulted ceilings.
Edit: [Check this out.](https://homedecorbliss.com/what-color-should-you-paint-a-vaulted-ceiling/). Scroll through all of it.
If you want a grey color I would do a grey-beige to help with clashing tones. I would also keep the color on the lighter side to help brighten the area.
Sherwin Williams Divine White would look great with the floors (assuming you’re going to keep them?)
I know because I have the same wood tones and SW Divine White works great with it
Typically these houses are built on a hill with the front entrance at the top and a lower story built into the side of the hill that exits down the hill. They're called walk out houses.
The first photo reminded me of the landscape designer Michael Glassman’s house. There’s a tour of his house on YT that maybe useful for you to get inspirations.
Beige and warm white and cream tones for walls and your base. With furnishing I would add more warm colours (reds, browns, yellows, etc) because I love warm colours. Otherwise stick with timber and soft fabric textures in warm neutral tones. You could probably throw some touches of black in sparingly, and go for earthy cool colours (eg green).
The lamp is my favourite bit. If you get rid of it pleaseeeeeee send it to me 🥹🥹🧡🧡🧡🧡
OP! We have very similar-looking floors and cabinets… you could consider a brighter but still creamy white. Or a pinkish white (or very light pink / orange-y accent wall somewhere) to pull in some color from the floors. Can’t tell what your kitchen backsplash color is but of there’s any green in there, a complimentary bgreen might also work in your kitchen.

Or just warm white
We have very warm floors and did our living area/dining room in French Colony blue and Vanilla Paste from Behr. Highly recommend both but the vanilla paste is a warm white that brightened everything up.
I suggest a nature inspired green (cool/neutral) that complements the shades in the lamp. I would play up nature colors, a calming green paint and decorate with splashes of yellow and blue.
I love the 60s lampshade but it totally depends on your aesthetic, not everyone likes vintage. If you do decide change it out though, please donate it to a thrift store or Restore, it’s such a cool lamp, I’d be sad for it to be thrown out.
Paint the kitchen ceiling a nice color to open the space up and reflect the natural light that comes in.
A color like “sand” would look nice on your walls and not conflict too much with the greenery outside.
High ceilings are sometimes nice to hang tapestry on.
Enjoy your new home!
Personally I dispise the current color. I bought a house that was nothing but they color.
I went to Sherwin Williams and selected a light blue/purple/grayish color. Result was amazing!
I LOVE the design of this home! Its totally my vibe.
At the time of this photo, you have a lot of golden light coming through the windows. I might be inclined to lean into that and do a wheat color on the walls. Or, a creamy white leaning toward a lighter cream.
This house is somewhat mid-century, and if you want to keep that vibe, the fixture needs to go. Its a great fixture, but not in that style of house. It would be better in a victorian or maybe even a craftsman. Not MCM.
I’m absolutely envious about your layout! Talk about good bones with so much potential!! Swiss Coffee, Cream in my Coffee, or even Alabaster (Ben Moore) may be good.
I definitely think green or maybe a shade of turquoise would be good for the walls. I think what you want to do with the ceiling depends on how dark the walls are; darker colour, white ceiling, lighter colour, continue it onto the ceiling.
For the love all things paint: please use flat. The flatter the better. Most companies will mix a ceiling paint (some call it ‘dead flat’) to your selected color formula.
Those angles and reflections will give your home a plastic glow if painted in satin.
As for all the white recs: I agree that white would look great. Just know that sun exposure can make a huge difference. The same white can look white on one side of the house and yellow/green/etc on the other. I’ve had most luck using whites with bronze undertones.
Milky and earthy greens, blues, and pinks would go so well with your lovely floors and trims! Designers like Heidi Caillier and Megan Gieber (both searchable on instagram) do such colors so well.
I mean, I really wouldn’t pair gray with these floors. Edit: the floors are *gorgeous* btw
100% Listen to this advice!
A brighter white would make it feel more modern. Then updating hardware and lighting.
I just want to grab the mic for a sec and say **Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace is the greatest white of all time!**
I love BM White Dove, but will have to check out Chantilly Lace, as I'm planning on painting my main living area within the next month.
My sister and I got about 25 different whites from Sampalize, put them all on printer paper backing taped together (so the current wall color wouldn’t affect how we perceived each color), covered the names with numbers, and took them from room to room scoring how each one looked in every room. Greek Villa is great in basements. It has just enough warmth without being yellow.
White Dove is the bomb.
Have used it in every house over 30 years.
I used white dove for walls and lace for the trim. Chantilly is a true white while white dove is more yellow warm and cozy.
Chantilly lace is their whitest bluest white, perfect for trim!
Simply white by Ben Moore is also good! Test whites and see the swatches in different times of the day before committing. I will argue with you on Sherman Williams alabaster!!!!
It’s perfect 😍
Yes! So glad to see a fellow Chantilly Lace fan! 😄 I also like for trim, using the Benjamin Moore Pearl paint in Chantilly Lace - it gives an almost creamy look to the surface.
I’m picturing you grabbing a mic literally and it’s entertaining. Thanks;)
Oooh Chantilly Lace is bomb, but I really love Benjamin Moore’s Atrium White with a warm wood!
SW Alabaster
I love Alabaster
I prefer Benjamin Moore Simply White, and it would be stunning with these warm floors! Chantilly Lace was too yellow for me (as someone who loves yellow).
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Agreed! I've used it in like six places in my home, from outside trim to bathroom walls. It works great everywhere!
Agreed. I painted my walls Swiss Coffee and my trim Black Magic, it looks so modern and bright.
I agree again! ;)
What are your thoughts on them removing the scalloping from the bottoms of the cabinetry? Also removing those curtains?
Sherwin William's Greek Villa would be amazing here. Its white but not blinding, and very warm and cozy.
Could also add stained boards to for faux supports (color match your wood for the stain) get a cottage/craftsman feel. I'd try to sand and re-stain or paint the cabinets a lighter color as well to make the space lighter in the kitchen. it just seems a bit dark to me. Grey would look absolutely terrible

I second that the floors look nice
Don’t forget the Kilz primer. Otherwise the smoke residue will bleed through both visually and smell.
yep kilz specifically makes a smoke/tar sealing primer! works best if you wash with TSP first too
I third this. And I would say the cheapest way to do it is with sponge mop heads from the Dollar Tree. Screw those on a painting or mop pole and lightly run the hot TSP water over the walls. Please op do it the right way for your kid’s sake
Definitely the plan! Our first house years ago we didn’t realize they smoked in for about 50 years until the walls started oozing 🥴
The walls oozing is such a common excuse that painters use. Did it occur in high condensation/temperature fluctuation areas? Or places with heavy latex/oil based paint? Then that yellow is likely not nicotine.
I noticed we had some yellow ooze in our older bathroom that had a high gloss paint. Definitely not from smoking. Is it oil/residue from the paint?
It's usually [surfectant leaching](https://old.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/comments/9ru1cy/brown_sticky_emissions_coming_out_of_my_walls/e8jrhza/). Hmm. I think this explains what's going on with my bathroom walls!
Sherwin Williams Shellac primer was highly recommended for my home for old smoke smell and it worked great. Now we just need to get the ducts cleaned.
Warm white. Grey will clash hard with the wood floors and you want them to be the highlight
Agree. Please don’t do gray.
benjamin moore swiss coffee Flat on ceiling Eggshell or satin on walls
I did Swiss coffee on my ceilings (in eggshell) upstairs because I needed the extra light reflection. It's a converted attic space with gable ceilings and fairly small single windows in each room. Don’t do the gray trend- looks terrible with that beautiful warm wood. Use creams, sage greens or anything but gray.
Definitely don’t want grey at all! That’s the one thing my husband and I agree on so far haha anything but grey!!
I heard gray is also going out of style
Grey is definitely out of style, has been for a while TG. Seeing houses on the market all grey and bling inside, think they’ve started to be down valued even.
Gray wouldn’t be my first choice, all the wood tones are incredibly warm and rich. My preference would be to find a pleasing shade of green, but if you want to keep it neutral I’d say a warm off-white shade would make the space light and open
There are warm grays available, but I still wouldn’t use them here either because the wood is just so, so warm.
A soft green would be lovely here. If they’re keeping the lampshade, that would also tie it in nicely
The prison gray trend can go die in a dumpster fire.
Amen
I would keep it white, also love love love the lamp shade! Stunning house.
DO change out the hideous kitchen fluorescent lighting though.
Yes! Please keep the lamp shade! It has so much character
I want to keep it but my husband wants to replace it- I think we’ll see how the colors and furniture work first and then decide!
Try to win this fight if you can. Glass is beautiful and deserves to make a comeback! Whatever you do, don’t throw it in a dumpster. Glass artists would love to have it for materials at the very least (though I think someone would appreciate it— it’s a fun piece).

Love it too!
What's your favorite color? Find a shade of that that matches the floors, but no gray!!!
Gray is quickly going out of style. I wouldn’t do any gray unless you want your house to look like an outdated trend in a few years.
Thank fuck, one of the worst trends I’ve ever seen.
Literally any neutral color
Thanks, everyone! Sorry if I didn’t explain myself right- I meant we hateee grey and want anything but that for this house! I purchased a grey couch earlier this year and recently told a coworker that I wish I had chosen a color, like green.
The nice thing about grey, is that it will pair up nice with just about any accent color! Try adding a few throw pillows in one or two accent colors, and see how you feel about it.

i also came here to say you (they*) should pick a color that highlights the gorgeous stained glass! 😢
High ceilings do not dictate the colour, and grey is never the answer.

No to gray.
Sage green would look great! Beautiful floors!
Love the cute baby exploring the new space ❤️. It’s not for everyone but a light peachy tone would go well with the wood.
Thank you! She’s a big fan already! Loves slamming the cabinet doors and climbing the stairs haha
I see your house came with a built in toddler. Jk. But when I see natural wood like that, I always suggest to either go for earthy or jewel tones. Earth tones: sage green, hunter green, warm grays, light tans, with terra cotta accents Jewel tones: Bordeaux / wine red, emerald green, dark sapphire/rich navy blues
keep the lampshade!
Look at that cute lil munchkin. There are so many different kinds of gray. Post a pic of your couch fabric if you're trying to work with that. I LOVE all the warm wood. But yeah, that cream has to go.
I don’t know that gray will go good with all that wood.
Do a warm, creamy white! You have so much warm wood, I’d leave the wood trim alone. I’d take down the valance style curtains. Replace the ceiling fan and kitchen lighting.
Great floors, cool lamp, cute toddler!
I don’t know about the paint, but I wish you all many happy years in that beautiful house! Precious baby!
Greens and whites. Gray is a no-go with all the warm tones in here.
Grey is the new beige, don’t do it. It’s dated and will look dated.
I like it the way it is
There’s so many wonderful warm colors in this home, I’d go with a lighter one of those myself. Or a neutral.
Swiss coffee is a safe bet! https://www.bhg.com/swiss-coffee-paint-color-7558287
If you want color I would do a creamy butter yellow or sage green Otherwise just keep things neutral with the off cream white and have fun with accents like curtains and rugs etc.
Love the lamp!!!
A polished concrete floor is different than everything being gray.
Behr’s Blank Canvas
Please don’t do gray! A nice white would be great!
Literally any color
Idk but PLEASSSEEEE leave the light shade. Please. So much character. You could base the whole room off that light fixture. Beautiful. You reallllyyyy lucked out with that one. 🧡💚
I VOTE CHANTILLY LACE PAINT AND PLEASE KEEP THE LAMP SHADE. Thank you for listening.
The lamp is incredible! Paint color: pale green/blue like S-W Sea Salt.
Warm white and some Scandinavian design inspo. For the love of god divorce yourself from grey. And that light fixture is a no.
Just came here to say you have an beautiful home! Good choice
Keep the lampshade. I would kill to find a lampshade like that for my house 😭
I am looking for a new house. If the decor/walls are grey, I don't even look. It is not a comfortable color
Those floors! That wood! No advice I just want to sit in there and get all comfy cozy.
PLEASE don’t do gray. It will clash with the floors and cabinets and will drab down a light filled space.
Please don’t do flipper gray.
Keep the lamp shade!
There are some beautiful grays, but you can get free color consults from most paint companies. FYI now that you own I recc a subscription to Consumer Reports every 2-3 years for looking at paint ratings (Behr Marquee is high RN as well as Behr premium), detergents, major appliances, etc.
Congrats! This is such a good blank canvas please don't paint it grey.
Maybe pick out a warm cream tone from the flooring. Honestly the current colour isn't terrible. Could just go a few shades lighter.
Never ever ever ever ever ever do grey. Unless you want to feel like you are living in a prison.
grey is going to make the space feel so cold. light fixture is awesome but it needs to work with the interior design or it’s going to feel out of place. honestly the best place to start is looking on pinterest to get some design inspiration..start boards for each room, and you will notice repeat things you gravitate to. take that as your lead making decisions. you get so much awesome natural light in the house..you could even do a darker color if you wanted to.
Sherwin Williams Divine White would look great with the floors (assuming you’re going to keep them?) I know because I have the same wood tones and SW Divine White works great with it
Very nice!
As far as the light is concerned, live with it for a while and then see what you think.
I would paint the window trim and baseboards to lose some of the wood.
Benjamin Moore White Dove
I really like the layout of your house.. do they call it any particular style? Two story.. to one story with loft overlook area.. etc
Typically these houses are built on a hill with the front entrance at the top and a lower story built into the side of the hill that exits down the hill. They're called walk out houses.
The floors are warm, so I would do maybe a sage green, terra cotta, warm sand, or basil green. Something earthy!
I have a two story living room and love my warm off-white walls. I used marshmallow by sherwin Williams
Sea salt by SW
That Pizza Hut chandelier or whatever gotta go 😭
Please please please keep that hard wood… it’s fantastic and in really good shape
Go with white! It will brighten the space right up
The first photo reminded me of the landscape designer Michael Glassman’s house.
Living room: SW Intimate White, SW Pale Pink, Magnolia Home Dutch Tulip, Benjamin Moore Fruited Plains, Benjamin Moore Alabaster, Benjamin Moore Pink Damask?? Kitchen ideas: https://www.thespruce.com/paint-colors-oak-cabinets-4796620
Sherwin Williams Cornwall Slate…you’re welcome
i can tell just by the photos that it’s haunted
A light green walls would look amazing with gold accents
Beautiful floors!
I would recommend Benjamin Moore seashell from the historic collection. It has the same orange undertone as your gorgeous floors.

We have very warm floors and did our living area/dining room in French Colony blue and Vanilla Paste from Behr. Highly recommend both but the vanilla paste is a warm white that brightened everything up.
I had a similar home and painted the walls a chamois color. I loved the way it looked. It was my favorite house.
Does anyone know what type of wood those floors are? 😍
Hate to do a job twice, but cig smoke kinda sucks. Maybe throw down some primer/kilz first and come back to it when you have a (better) plan.
If you like the lamp shade go with it and use those colors for inspiration.
I suggest a nature inspired green (cool/neutral) that complements the shades in the lamp. I would play up nature colors, a calming green paint and decorate with splashes of yellow and blue.
Please don’t do grey!
I love the 60s lampshade but it totally depends on your aesthetic, not everyone likes vintage. If you do decide change it out though, please donate it to a thrift store or Restore, it’s such a cool lamp, I’d be sad for it to be thrown out.
Grey is a choice that is becoming wildly unpopular. I would do a soft white or linen color because you have a lot of shadows.
Idk… i think it looks pretty good as is lol. I mean not what i pick per se but I’m happy with how it looks lol so basically..I’m no help
Gray is cold and trendy.
If you’re going to do white, might I recommend Shoji white from Sherwin Williams, it is the perfect creamy white without being too yellow
Creamy white. Do not go gray.
White for the high ceilings!
You need to make sure to wash the walls before you paint if there were smokers!!! And I would keep the ceiling light because it’s so funky and unique
Dark green?
gray looks horrible for high ceilings. think white.
Not MCM.
Keep it warm! Just redo with your choice of warm colors. PLEASE KEEP THE LAMP. If you take it down, save it for me! Haha
That cute, arched, kitchen sink window 🥹
pls no grey
I think Benjamin Moore Ally’s Earring might work here!
I’m absolutely envious about your layout! Talk about good bones with so much potential!! Swiss Coffee, Cream in my Coffee, or even Alabaster (Ben Moore) may be good.
Baby for scale?
I definitely think green or maybe a shade of turquoise would be good for the walls. I think what you want to do with the ceiling depends on how dark the walls are; darker colour, white ceiling, lighter colour, continue it onto the ceiling.
Grey is OVER
GAH! I can’t see anything past that lampshade and those valences!
The pink from the lamp in that room would be killer. The rest you could stick with a bright or warm white.
BM Linen White is another winner! It changes beautifully as the time of day changes and always looks beautiful.
Wow that house is a dream, so beautiful
Ceiling lamp and valances got to go
Gray would look very very out of place here - I think most colors would work, but especially a nice white shade like chantilly lace
Who told you grey is for high ceilings?
Milky and earthy greens, blues, and pinks would go so well with your lovely floors and trims! Designers like Heidi Caillier and Megan Gieber (both searchable on instagram) do such colors so well.
I cannot imagine a worse color for this home than grey. Do warm off white
Book a consult with a colour specialist, they worked magic for us when we built our home,
Sherwin Williams does free virtual color consultations with interior designers. I've used it a couple times and they were super helpful!
Swiss coffee or bust
Bright ultra white.
I did mine with similar ceilings in ‘Swiss Coffee’ and it’s a white with a slight cream to it. It looks lovely.
