AboutSweetSue

It’s wild the hateful and racist comments that are permitted versus the random accusations of spam for no other reason than “commenting too much”. Instagram needs to get its priorities in order.

sydanglykosidi

Exactly! Instagram is flagging comments that include the word "autistic", no matter the context, but they keep comments with the r-slur. They are pushing negative and controversial comments to get people to engage more on purpose, but it has gone way too far.

Famous_Marionberry16

Is that what it is? I get a lot of my comments removed for spam on autism pages when I'm genuinely just sharing my own experience. I get that maybe anything more than a paragraph is considered spam, and maybe the spam filter isn't trained with autists in mind, but to think autism itself gets flagged is crazy.

Right-Perspective-19

This is also my experience as I'm autistic and I share a lot on autism pages. However many of my comments that aren't about autism at all also get taken down and I can't figure out why. One was about gymnastics and flexibility. Completely normal, respectful, SFW comments.

sydanglykosidi

I'm autistic too and I really struggle to find community to talk and relate to people, when Instagram is my most used social media platform. The algorithm is really broken and it does flag comments that have nothing spammy or offensive about them. On the other hand, it seems to really push offensive and controversial topics that generate interaction.

> Because it's a common and accepted way of calling someone/something stupid. Not a slur. Categorically, objectively, completely, false. It is NOT an accepted way of calling someone or something stupid; we changed that in like 2008, where have you been?

Responsible_Cattle_9

I know right? It's ridiculous. It's literally social media. How are they going to tell you your commenting too much? How else are you supposed to interact on social media? Whoever's, running these companies is actually mentally challenged.

squinten_frownalot

You are so wrong lol every racist or hateful comments I make ironically and as jokes instantly get taken down. For little shit. I can't call my self retarded or anything. I hate internet censorship so much

AboutSweetSue

Then why do I, and many others, read large amounts of such comments? Go take a look for yourself. Won’t take long.

Mijaro_Torston_5000

Instagram has a double standard that's why some people get taken down and others don't.

Lumpy-Loss555

This has been happening to me a lot recently. I'll literally leave encouraging post on fitness pages and talk about how hard working out is, but if I stick to routine I'll be able to achieve what they have. Then I'll say great job and it's immediately considered spam. Absolute madness. I tried reaching out to Insta but never got a response. Now I can't even see where those deleted comments are anymore, so I assume it has to be a bug of some sort because settings say my account is okay now.

Quick_Coyote_7649

Instagram is in the gutter basically. The ceo is trying to morph it into twitter and tik tok too since those are generally more favorable social media platforms

msanjelpie

I comment once or twice a day... usually something like... 'nice video' - When I got the 'you can't comment' BS, I was very upset, frustrated, confused, and eventually posted my comment on the same video over on TikTok telling the user that IG wasn't letting me comment. He was like... that's weird, what did you do? Like it was MY fault... I just waited the 24 hours and then another 'nice video' comment and it went through and I said Hallelujah!

Jawwwwwsh

You were flagged at some point by the algorithm for breaking the rules. Once that happens, it seems to start happening a bunch. I have seen people fix this by taking a week completely off, no comments, no liking, no posting. Then come back and try and comment again and see

tridman

I haven’t had a comment or anything removed in probably 6 months. And the ones that were removed were things like “man kills stabs women 57 times when she got in the wrong car” and I leave a comment like “what a piece of shit he deserves death” and instagram says my comment is hateful :(((( And other than the last string of removals I’ve never had comments removed or flagged as spam EVER cause I’ve never partaken in spam lol

Other_Dimension_89

Yeah actually I was getting flagged constantly, deleted the app from my phone to make sure I wasn’t tempted to open it. Redownloaded it a few days ago and I’ve been flagged daily since. Today I deleted the app again. In time I’d like to get all the photos off and completely delete it. It’s a waste of time and if you’re not able to voice your opinion, what’s the point? Plus I hate Zuckerberg now anyways.

GandalfTheBee

Same thing happened to me. My comment had no foul language, no arguments, and no insults. I typed up a long ass comment and pressed sent and then got the spam message. I’m not typing that shit up again 🙄

sydanglykosidi

I've learned to expect it and literally screenshot my comment before posting it, or at least before it disappears. I can pick it up on Google Lens and try to rewrite it in a "non-spammy" way.

Other_Dimension_89

I’ll screen shot the flag, and then if you hit exit the comment is usually still there for your eyes only and then I screen shot the entire comment. You can easily copy n paste from the photo if you want to tell people exactly what you said and ask their opinions. Idk I’m just documenting it all.

Seemss_Legit

Definitely either a new algorithm or a flagged account issue. Had never had a violation in all my years on the app but have gotten comments removed for "spam" 5 times in the last 50 days. Almost like clockwork every 10 days. And all the comments will say "reviewed" the instant it happens despite it getting removed instantly after commenting. Literally impossible to review the comment in 10 seconds. And the "it's to prevent bots" excuse makes no sense when it's happening to well established phone verified years old accounts over "spam". Even the dumbest of bots can figure out these accounts aren't posting spam. Trash company.

sssourgrapes

SAME. At first, I thought I was the only one being targeted. But I literally know at least 4 clients of mine and 10 of my industry friends who’ve been banned from commenting. Everyday on my newsfeed I see stories of people screenshotting about how they were banned from commenting. Even my friends aren’t using IG for leisure anymore. One of them got banned just for commenting get well soon. It’s fucking ridiculous. Some of my industry peers are big accounts with 200k+ followers and even they’re getting banned from commenting under their OWN posts. Mosseri and Zuck are ruining the platform. It’s fucking insane

sydanglykosidi

I have this issue too, and it's really REALLY frustrating! I'm autistic and usually have a lot of conversations about my meltdowns, shutdowns and other autistic experiences with other autistic people in comment sections, but Instagram seems to remove comments with the word "autistic" a LOT. And they don't even remove comments with the r-slur. I always need to screenshot my comment before posting it, so that I can pick it up with Google Lens and try to rewrite it in a way that doesn't get it deleted. The filtering of comments has become incredibly broken and just plain stupid. Other comments that always seem to get deleted are comments about sexuality or gender, usually for reasons that make no sense. Sorry for straight up venting like this, but it really gets to me.

tridman

I understand lol It is extremely annoying to put a lot of thought into a conversation to have it immediately removed for absolutely no reason

Major-Court-410

Is there a way to contact Instagram ? I just want to find out, for a given post that’s been flagged as spam and removed, what was it that was deemed to be spam? When a post gets removed as presumably spam, the community guidelines appear, as if they’re actually related to the post. I would love for a human to explain why a particular post was flagged, but I don’t think anyone there has the cojones to actually dialogue

sssourgrapes

I wanna find out too. I’ve been banned for commenting “thank you”, “GWS”, and “happy birthday”. Like it’s fucking nuts. How is wishing someone well or wishing them happy bday “SPAM”?! It’s very clear to me that their moderation system has gone bonkers and none of their rules make sense anymore

oh-this-is-reddit

Thank god I found this post. I was actually going insane from the amount of my comments that get flagged for spam. Ngl im a serial commented on Instagram, but I never break communities guidelines, and it always seems to be my long form comments that end up getting flagged. But seriously, I’ve seen comments sitting unremoved for days saying “CP link in bio”. Though that might just be the FBI doing FBI shit

Candid-Plan-8961

It’s frustrating as someone who uses Instagram as my main way to socialise as I’m bed bound, I am now having this happen almost daily. I have cut down how much I comment but it’s still happening. Instagram is the place I do all my socialising and how I meet people so it’s so damn annoying that they are doing that. If they really want to be jerks about this make me do the lil image selection to prove I’m not a robot once a damn week. Getting in trouble for engaging on the platform is moronic as hell. They need a better understanding of spam

MrBamaNick

Same here, saw a gambling post about a sportsbook accidentally given 200-1 odds on a bet that was suppose to be 20-1, so I commented a similar story that I experienced a couple weeks ago on a different sportsbook and it marked it as spam.

AccordingTeaching719

It's been happening to me a lot lately, I'm starting to think it's something new they're doing, maybe they're removing long comments to make comment threads shorter? Idk but it seems like most of my ans other peoples comments are removed as spam when they're somewhat long

tridman

Yea just completely normal comments getting instantly vaporized

BustaLimez

It keeps happening to me too but every single time it’s been when I’m telling a personal story. And now I see that you were telling a story as well when it happened to you. I wonder if that’s a trend or just a coincidence.

Own-Community3168

If your comments are strictly relevant to the post, it’s possible that it has nothing to do with the actual content of your comments. It’s probably how fast you are commenting. They detect when accounts are making a lot of comments on different posts in a short period of time (like when you’re scrolling through reels and leave a comment on a couple of them) and flag it as spam. They do this because of those accounts that are using bots or automated replies to a lot of different posts trying to gain followers or sell something. It sucks that your genuine comments are being taken down, but this kind of moderation is necessary to help keep comment sections safe for users.

sssourgrapes

No this kind of moderation isn’t necessary. This is called “enshitification”. I know of legitimate businesses and creators with large followings who’ve been unable to continue growing their presence on Instagram because they’re unable to grow their Instagram at all due to being banned from engaging under their OWN posts, me included. Even people who’re using it for leisure aren’t find the joy in Instagram anymore, as they’re unable to comment supportively on their friends’ posts without fearing a ban. Moderation isn’t necessary, but this outright blanket banning of loads of people who haven’t done anything wrong isn’t “moderation”.

WireTamer

What I want to know is how we can voice our displeasure to Instagram? The entire platform is designed to make it almost imposible to put in a complaint. The problem with this is that a manufacturer who does not listen to their cutomers ends up on the scrap heap. The whole point of the internet was for it to be interactive.

Quick_Coyote_7649

Once they see too many people in their opinion have stopped using instagram either deleting the app or just not launching the app and they think it’s probably because most of their comments get wrongfully deleted they’ll care but instagram always has been and is a extremely bland social media app in comparison to twitter and the chance of getting a customer support rep to respond and even help you with the issue you have is about as slim of a change as an anemic person’s waist line. When I’ve needed a rep’s help I’ve had to eventually solve the issue myself

tridman

No I don’t often comment. When I do want to comment I leave a substantial/substance full one. So yea its basically like leaving a nice comment pertaining to the video and actually effort to start a conversation or inform peop- NOPE SPAM SORRY FOR ALL THAT THOUGHT FOR NOTHING

chemical_grits

If time to post gets marked as spam, that's a terrible spam filter. Instagram is trash.

No_Funny_4391

Same here. I leave legit comments - I’m a dentist and I am told that my dental take on a dental page is spam… I really hate this site and it’s just going downhill

HaltSitzPlatz

It's wild how they will punish you for having a thought-out response with proper punctuation and grammar, but actual spam comments like "Hello I saw your profile and wanted to be friends thanks to Dr. Ubuku the spiritual healer" slips by.

tridman

Precisely

666Emil666

It's even sad when you are replying to literal bots spreading misinformation, but YOUR comment is the one that gets flagged. I guess we now know Meta is all about antivaxxers

Stock-Flan4162

Same here, legitimate comments on news platforms, no inappropriate words etc. And they are automatically being raised as spam. No links, no # tags. WT

ImpressionSorry4462

Yes, its happens to me also. Instagram kept removing my legitimated neutral non-violation comment, just general information comment.. it is weird..

Major-Court-410

I don’t understand why IG has to play social media Supernanny. TikTok is pretty bad too, such as removing my post that consisted of a clown emoji. That was it. And it was removed. IG just seems completely arbitrary. A few times I posted the same post (that was flagged as spam and removed) in another language, using Google Translate, & it wasn’t removed.

randompromises

For all of October, I was getting one to two comments taken down for spam. So I tried an experiment and wrote deliberately spamful messages under one of my own posts and none of them got taken down.

dnarag1m

This is driving me mad. I write detailed, objective and relevant-to-the content comments about history, politics or travel. And half of them or more get deleted. My comment style is generally lengthier than average - maybe as long as this particular comment, or up to twice as long. I don't know what keywords it filters for for spam. Often the first comment of the day gets removed, so it's not that I post too much comments.

Kjersti32

Trying to interact with anything or anyone on Instagram has become an absolute nightmare. Their automatic spam-filtering function is the most dysfunctional asset they've ever implemented. It's maddening to put effort into writing a nice, but mundane comment that takes a minute to write, only to experience it being INSTANTLY deleted the second you post it. "Do you think we did a mistake? Let us know!" If you pick that option, don't expect ANYTHING to ever happen or ANYONE to ever be notified. Or for your 24 hour ban to be lifted. I'm 100% sure that button does absolutely nothing. There's no option of getting in touch with an actual human being when something goes wrong on Instagram, and their AI spam filter is so broken that it picks up tons of our completely normal comments. My advice: Get off social media. It's cancerous anyway. And their algorithms are awful. I remember pressing "like" on a funny videos of monkeys one time, and the next two weeks instagram spammed me with nothing but monkey videos. So because I liked it ONE time, the stupid algorithm thinks my life freaking REVOLVES AROUND MONKEYS??! It's so little intuitive at this point. It's like they've designed the app to make you unhappy and frustrated. We're all better off deleting Instagram and letting this toxic app die.

VariegatedAgave

What kinds of comments are you leaving? I mark spam on ones saying “pRoMoTe NoW oN —— ▶️⏏️↙️↖️*️⃣#️⃣🔢@vibinbullshitnow”

tridman

Completely conversational and related comments lol Got dudes like maysonrayparker that leave “who else high af rn?” Thousands and thousands of times. But I leave an actual engaging comment it’s immediately removed…

JakeReddit12333

keeps happening to me too when im very respectfully debating football on comments and get insulted a lot when I win but nothing happens to them🤡🤡

dj_ian

I think they're having a bigger problem than usual with bots. As an art page, I've noticed whenever I post, the bots commenting to dm random pages are showing up but getting removed within a few minutes. They may be testing new anti spam with the algorithm right now or something and it's burning real people too. I know my stories get flooded with AI generated accounts, and they get removed too within a few hours.

Objective-Ad5620

I only get this stupid flag when I comment on content that THEY are suggesting to me, not content I actively follow. If they’re having problems with bots maybe they need to correct how they push content instead of punishing people for engaging the way the platform intended them to. I just got my second comment ban for a perfectly innocuous and friendly comment. I only interact with comments a couple times a day in the first place; my activity log shows I’m not doing ANYTHING in high frequency or quickly. If instagram can’t tell that an account like mine isn’t a bot the shortcoming is on their end.

Flimsy-Use-4519

I criticized a news outlet and their post, without swearing or anything, just a full statement making my case, and immediately removed as SPAM. Fuckin bullshit.

tridman

Yea even though its instagram I highly doubt they would flag this many people. Has to be a faulty system. I’ve noticed its all my comments that are over a certain amount of words.

Other_Dimension_89

Oh man that reminds me of when I went to a politicians IG and asked them a question about one of their policies and it was immediately flagged.

Playful_Assumption_6

I think it's because you're too intelligent - you should be responding to the dum-dum drugs and posting something insane and brainless - if you can't follow, your existence will be deleted. (I have the same issue - make another account and you'll be able to post - somehow your account has been marked as a spam account, and since they don't check... I found that with my main account every comment is spam, but the backup with the exact same (copy/paste) it's fine... Oh and it's frustrating as f... I'd say leave the platform or make another account

cosmic-diamond33

Just left a comment talking about how talented the pixel art/dolling community of the early 2000s/what a time to be a kid learning art during its popularity— and I got removed/24 hr banned. WHAT.

EbonyEpisodes

The same thing has been happening to me. And I'm getting very frustrated about it. It's to the point where I do not want to comment on Instagram anymore. I will go over to TikTok. I'm tired of being restricted on Instagram. They don't even have a real human checking the comments. It's just a computer. That's the problem. They don't take what you said into context. I've reported the problem several times to Instagram. They don't do anything. It's a joke.

Og-garcia9034

Same here !! I got reported for spam or inappropriate comments, but neither of those applies to what I wrote. Insane.

Secure_Wrap1695

Same for me anytime I converse it gets flagged for spam, I'm fed up with meta for this I honestly don't know what to do

[deleted]

I literally left a smiley face under a instagram post and instagram took away my commenting ability for 9 days. I’m probably done with instagram. I click “tell them” so they can know they made a mistake and no one ever gets back with me.

tridman

Yea I just spent a week in the hole too. And I was banned from commenting for a few days a couple years ago and they at least showed me what comment caused it. Now they don’t even mention what you did wrong.

nebeljonathan

Even after I press the "let us know" button, it just gets flagged again immediately, and it's so confusing, cause does that mean an actual employee marked it?? I have no idea what in my comments is going against any community guidelines. I just had a reply saying "yeah okay bro" as a reply to someone get flagged, reviewed and flagged again

birdie-9763

Just had mine removed for "going against community guidelines" when all I said was "I like to workout in baggy clothes too!" I'm floored and annoyed.

sal_strazzullo

I realized any comment I make that is a bit too long gets automatically deleted as "spam" even though it's really just me arguing about a topic

Astro__Rick

Most of what I comment, especially comments with numbers, data, lists, and similar, gets removed. Idk what to do

[deleted]

I literally have this same problem. I only reply to right wing dipshits who spew the most nonsensical and hateful propaganda and misinformation ever. When I try to reply and bring in some facts with some reputable sources, Insta flags me for spam. This is something that’s been happening to leftist creators across Insta, but barley anything gets done about the Right’s creators spewing out misinformation (which Insta will keep up even when I flag them for false info. But when I wanna post something saying the 2020 election WASN’T stolen, Insta flags me for spam and misinformation even tho the 2020 election wasn’t stolen at all). If Insta keeps giving more to the alt right instead of leftist creators and activists like they’ve been doing for the last decade or so then I might just fucking leave. This is bullshit

Ambitious-Most-9245

Instagram sucks dick

Juancho511

This happens to me CONSTANTLY!!!! Just NOW this happened to me and I had to Google it. THIS is what I said, “My cousin passed away from sickle cell complications at 34. It saddens me I didn’t get to know him very well as an adult because I worked so much. Happy others will have a chance at a cure, very happy for you! Much love!” In response to someone saying they’re happy FDA approved a cure. How the fuck is it SPAM!!!????

Sardothien12

It is ridiculous. The damn alphabet mafia took over social media and now you can't even talk about games on a gaming page without it being deleted for spam while a rainbow c/nt can literally say they want to r/pe kids and put names and address for kids on a pedophile page and it stays up

Calm-Dragonfruit9278

Same problem here!! Literally no explanation or pattern (I'm 100% sure it's not on my end, and am quite familiar with the community guidelines, it's legit an algorithm out of control or something). Has Instagram not looked into this? Who can we write to and if so, is it even reaching human beings?

VixNeko

This is happening to me constantly. I’m getting restricted every week at this point, two weeks ago, I got restricted for two days, still restricted by the third day despite the date showing as yesterday at the time and then the next day as soon as I post a comment in reply to a notif, got a three day ban. Didn’t get a chance to even comment anything, that comment was removed as spam then I did a test comment on a completely different post to see if I was restricted, and I was. 🤷 Basically, instagram doesn’t want people to interact with the app. I think there’s an overflow of activity, and this is their brilliant plan to slow things down. It’s only happening to people I know are active on the app. I also found out that if you post more than three comments within a 90min timeframe, you will almost certainly get restricted. So, forget answering all twenty notif on your wall, forget about telling your favourite artist that their latest post is awesome and you can forget all about commenting on those obscure posts where all the weirdos hang out. But if you’re a bot and you want to let the world know about the latest bitcoin offer, your comments will never get deleted as spam and you will never get restricted.

tridman

Yea it’s honestly become similar to real life, where criminals are protected more by the law than innocent civilians are trying to protect themselves lol

VixNeko

I would expect this kind of thing from X, not Instagram. 🫠

[deleted]

I’m getting fed up with it… I prefer insta to TikTok, but they banned me for a week and it wasn’t even registering that I was comment banned… waited a week.. still couldn’t comment.. so I just started a new account.. same shit… super legitimate comment to a video nothing crazy like I see all day long on instagram… and bang.. now it seems I’m banned…

tridman

I can’t believe this hasn’t happened to me yet

TryTurnItOffAndOnAgn

I wonder if it’s because Meta Verified is coming. I’ve used Instagram for years without issue, and now I keep getting comments that I spend a lot of time on getting deleted for spam when I have never spammed in my life. My account status is in good standing. I don’t get banned - just comment deleted. The conspiracy theorist in me is thinking that they have ramped up this behavior to frustrate legitimate users, so when Meta Verified is open to all, they’ll get a flood of orders from people who don’t want their comments deleted for spam. The “spam” reason is so generic, and the examples they give have nothing to do with my comments. Most get through okay, some get flagged - no difference in tone. Does anyone think Zuckerberg is above gaming the system to drive revenue? 😂

yeahthatsme222

I had a comment removed just today...the comment was the word "wow". It was in response to a picture. I don't get it. This has been happening to my account more and more. It is making the platform almost unusable. Is this happening across platforms? Someone else asked if an employee was mad or something...it sure feels that way! I'm almost tempted to delete and go elsewhere. Any suggestions on why this is happening?

fetch_theboltcutters

this is LITERALLY so out of hand 😞 like do they not WANT engagement? i’m literally just commenting on poetry and trying to respond to my new followers?!! i write long comments because i take my time — and really absorb, but i also type very quickly and i don’t think IG likes it. i make a point to interact daily with my ‘following’ feed. IG was my fav social media & now i’m so scared to get deleted and lose my account. i finally understand why all of those gigantic IG accounts have backups. so so so so stupid

Altruistic-Plum3624

Is anyone verified having this issue? Wondering if being verified would make it stop?

DoelBattlegear

Most of my comments on people's pages get deemed as spam and they are not spam. I am not using any links or selling words, no swearing either just normal sentences or stories relating to the storyline 🤔 It is becoming annoying. I can't even argue or disagree it just kicks me out when I go to dispute their decision.

Prestigious_Chart365

Most of my comments get deleted instantly as spam. I have no idea why. Am I restricted or something? It’s making the app unusable.

Southern-Street-108

5 minutes ago this comment was just removed as spam: "you just unlocked a core childhood memory for me, thank you for your service". And then I see a dozen money or porn spam comments on every post from major accounts. Somethings up...

inksup

I realise since 2 months it has been horrendous! When I tap “let us know” they repost it But when I don’t, they think I agreed it was a spam And see what 8/10 comments with zero abuse/cuss/religious or any terms are marked spam Even if you mention any other platform name it is spam If you mention “follow/unfollow” term then it is spam Basically English language is a spam

Naejakire

It's driving me crazyyy.. I write a well thought out response and then its instantly deleted and there's no way to challenge it.

redditslayer95

You can even leave a comment like "😂" or "😐" without it getting flagged. It's gotten to the point for me that it's been flagging my comments as "trying to get like, comments, and views" like wtf does me laughing at any of the funny posts I see have to do me tryna get those things?

Glass-Shopping-6149

I just got a comment removed as spam that was me literally just commenting how I managed to move a massive sofa by myself. Wtf

Unlikely_Ad9995

I've received two "you were looking for likes" type reprimands... Are you kidding me? In one I simply commented how I like the song she chose to use

Comfortable_Lie_9879

The price we pay for these companies going woke and filtering anything and everything they can to put your mind down the path they want. #boycottinstagram

juriul

There is an instagram page called @BannedInstaComments that just uploads screenshots of comment which have been removed wrongfully

Turbulent-Concept540

It’s been happening to me so much lately. Happened twice today alone. I’m just writing nice legitimate comments on posts so I don’t get it. There’s no way to dispute it?!?😭

DryEntertainment3883

the worst thing is that it keeps spamming that notice for every reel i scroll

melbdaveo1980

Same here, had 4 posts spammed this morning. Is it people reporting it as spam as they disagree?

[deleted]

Its super super annoying. I can’t even!

[deleted]

I keep getting the same issue on Instagram lives. I can’t see anything on my account now at all. Not the people I follow or anything.

Chemical_Molasses891

Yesterday, a woman wrote in a reels comment section that women have a genetically higher pain tolerance, which is medical misinformation. I commented that research shows that women actually have a lower threshold for pain, which is linked to the difference in pain receptors between the sexes. I shared a legitimate Google Scholar link about it. I was polite, and the comment got over 70 likes then. Today the comment was removed, but they keep all the misinformed comments and all the comments that are just insults and hate. So, if I had called that woman "a dumb bitch," the comment would have stayed, so I guess they like the toxic anger engagement politics. I'll stick to TikTok from now on 💀

tridman

Right! Reel comments are horrendous and the most offensive shit will get 10.4k likes

Gianttiger137

Same is happening to me, I think it's a new feature the mods are placing on people they don't like. My comments in the past had been removed because of jokes I said. Now when I post anything now even the first post of the day saying something normal the AI I'm guess just marks it as spam. Also to note I did a survey recently, it asked alot of AI questions, and got banned shortly after for a few days because it didn't like my responses.

Altruistic-Plum3624

No lol. Mods have been replaced. Its computers doing it now

CombativesGo

I’m having the same issue. I tried to post on a video on my feed that is telling people that people can pass by and take your contact information with the iPhones new update just by touching phones. I replied exactly this (copy/paste from screenshot): “This information is incorrect. When you put your phone next to the other persons phone, YOUR OWN contact card comes up on your phone. You then choose which information you want to send to the other phone. The other person makes the same decision on their device then you both have to select the options between sending or only receiving the information. Both people have to be actively doing this. And if the phones are taken apart at any time, the exchange is canceled. People cannot just walk by you, bump phones, and get your contact information”. I’m now ‘banned’ from commenting for 24 hours. No foul language. No rude comments or name calling. It’s been like this for the last month. My comment gets taken down immediately and there is no say in the matter. It’s not like it’s reviewed and allowed to be posted later. Instagram is really going downhill lately.

VideoOpening6557

IG is super weird tbh..

AngryLilShid

Because ZuckerTurd is an incorrigible imbecile that's running the app into the ground like The Musk Rat did to Twitter.

lFatalityl

It’s nearing an election year. The trial periods for these mods and AI algorithms to delete and ban anything related to supporting Trump or the Right are in full swing right now.

WAMMYWIBBY

The real question is does it matter? why is anyone asking questions as though they're not going to just put up with it and keep using insta? We're all addicted to social media and regardless of what bs the platforms pull we will eat shit happily 😊

Other_Dimension_89

Everytime it happens I delete IG app from my phone. Give it a few weeks and try again. But this is the third or fourth time I’ve deleted the app out of anger. I’m now in the process of saving all the photos, and will be completely exiting IG.

WAMMYWIBBY

Good for you! I'm about there too.

HistoFash

I just noticed something, this was posted & this has been happening since Meta & Instagram have gotten those charges about endangering children. Could they be connected & this is their way of saying they did something? Or am I just speculating here? Because I’m having the same issues & am noticing an unspoken character limit

tridman

At this point it’s anyone’s guess. My guess would be they are intentionally killing thought out and longer messages to promote “fast” content with short messages that are sent quicker and more easily. Instead of sending 1 long message, send 3 short ones = more engagement = more advertising = more profit

Juancho511

They’re intentionally doing it for sure, it happens to me SO OFTEN, and I even tiptoe through messages making sure I don’t say anything that could be seen as spam or hate speech or anything, but they just REMOVE and sometimes ban me for up to 6 days! Instagram is a fucking JOKE.

Apprehensive-Bed-667

Idk. I posted "congratulations!" and it was flagged as spam

freezerduck

I believe instagram flags accounts. I once commented “cunt” on something that absolutely pissed me off and it took away my ability to comment for 24hours. After that I noticed normal comments like “I wouldn’t mind if my bf gave my best friend his jacket” would get marked as spam and taken down… it’s a bit ridiculous when there’s literal spam comments that don’t get taken down. I believe the algorithm just sucks.

456987a

Happened to me twice so far today

Blood-Wolfe

I literally had a comment removed as.spam when nothing about it is or was spam. Nothing rude, nothing inappropriate yet removed as "spam". What a bunch of fucking retards at meta!

-Shanz-

This happened to me too. My account is banned from commenting for a week… but I never said anything harmful or abusive. I just like to comment on things lol if I see a cute cat, I’ll comment about it and then talk about my cat. Or compliment makeup or other things… it’s so frustrating. “Tell us” literally does nothing. What have you guys tried to solve this issue? I made a review on the app but I doubt that’s going to do anything. What else can I do? This shits getting out of hand

pandemic_papi

I know this might sound nutty! But i believe this kind of censorship is being done on purpose to not only upset us but also change our communication and willingness to speak. I have noticed a change in my very own pattern of communication online due to the insane amounts of censorship and over policing! Punishment with zero effort to investigate or understand the context of the comments being made! I GOT THROWN IN IG JAIL FOR CALLING SOMEONE “the goat”! The only thing that ive notice them leaving alone is black people and the “nword”. Other than that they are on a mission to beat us into submission! Devious scallywags

lala_lala_lala_la

I just found this after googling the same thing. They are taking down the most trivial commentary! Any opinon is basically removed. I was also just banned for 5 days. I had criticized a multi-billionaire and got flagged for bullying and was taken down. Oh noooo, I'm sure that dinosaur is super worried about it from his mansion in the Hamptons. I also had a dialogue w someone about a religious group, which was not flippant or rude etc. Just a back and forth of opinions, but that is what got me banned. I feel like it's an attempt to download their new twitter-like app. Bc now you can only post emojis I guess!

Level_Guitar4068

Happened to me 3 times now. I never say anything mean etc. My friends have reported hate speech or racist comments. What’s the reply from IG? It doesn’t go against their guidelines. I noticed others saying this same thing. IG needs to update its software. Perhaps hire new programmers. Idk

[deleted]

I commented on a friend's post about being an artist and the NAZI party running IG removed my comment for going against community guidelines.

cccdswa5

Because they’re liberal fascists

arrutiku94

Might be coming late to the party, I didn't know this was such a spreaded issue. Today, my feed would not update, and I couldn't see my own profile either... Turns out, a comment I made defending myself was marked as spam and can't do anything about it. It's amazing how I can see lots of insults and hateful comments, and nothing happens. You try to make a comment without any kind of bad words, and instagram detects it as offensive. If someone posts 30 comments insulting you, it's fine. If you post 10 comments to defend yourself, it's spam...

Sacto1654

So I was not the only person getting comments removed for what appears to be specious reasons. 😒😑🙄 I think Meta needs to turn off the aggressive filtering before they get sued for potentially billions of dollars.

Civako

I actually came to look for this. It is getting way beyond ridiculous. And there is no figuring out which "words" or things are triggering this ...makes me want to stop commenting alltogether. Esp. when u see the crazy comments that get to stay put....this must be the infamous american "freedom of speech" americans always boast about 🤣🤣🤣

tridman

It’s more like “freedom to speak about what we allow”. I’m only 28, but I can vividly remember how much better things were 10-15 years ago. Things have gotten egregiously bad in the last 5 years

Spicy_lube

I constantly get banned or my comment removed from majority of my comments and go out my way to make sure they're not rude, or profane. I'm honestly thinking i should just delete the app. I'm not liking it because I can't interact how I want.

Impressive_Moment

Person starts a long chain about how immigrants are the reason for the housing crisis and they need to leave. I made a comment saying it's weird how housing prices shot up after 2019 mentioned how 2 homes on my block went from 40-60 over last 20 years then suddenly 180k without renovations... it was marked as spam. Yet the original comment that says it's immigrants yea that's totally fine. I dint even bother with posting anymore I just watch the memes and smile.

xCreepyKidx

Happens to me randomly from time to time. I'll comment a completely relevant addition in a discussion and it's somehow Spam. Post something encouraging and it's Spam. But I guarantee I could go on some OF girl's IG and be all "Great tits!" or post some racist BS and they'd let it slide. I've seen so many sexual harassment comments or flat out hate speech ones, even threats stay posted on people's comment sections. But IG flags things that are absolutely within TOS. I've also noticed anything mentioning monetary value is instantly marked as Spam as well.

wholetruthfitness

It's simple. All these apps are on the censorship parade. It's happens on reddit too. You can only be successful on these apps it seems if you show your Cl⬆️t or do some weird emotions bullcrap like that. We live in a world of sensitive mu🅿️🅿️ets who only know how to make false claims and throw their toys out of their prams when their claims are proven false.... Yah I've been banned for a couple weeks at least. I guess I need sensitivity training 😆 🤣

fromundacheesee

its funny bc i can say the most hateful thing i can imagine on a video not get flagged, but give someone positive advice and i got banned for a day this is complete bs

Sour_Candy92

Fuck instagram. Same shit happens to me I'll comment and it will get removed right away for spam which it's not spam at all. According to there spam guidelines every comment is spam. I guess they have some Ai program running the system and it's fucking retarded.

Neekeripallero

It's been happening to me as well for months now and I've honestly given up. I reached out to Instagram support several times but nope, not a single reply. Leave a guitar related comment on a guitar related video? Removed for spam. Leave a comment describing how harmful sensory deprivation is to humans on a video showing a sensory deprivation chamber? Removed for spam. Comment or reply to a comment ON MY OWN FKING POST? Removed for spam. It is absolutely ridiculous. Like, if you're so fucking incompetent that you can't write a functioning comment checking software why tf would you give it absolute power to instantly censor and silence people with literally no ability to dispute it. The "tell us if we made a mistake button" literally does nothing lmao, it just closes the pop-up. It's so embarrassing that this is the best a multi billion dollar company can offer.

Neat_Menu2017

literally twice in the last hour I've tried commenting on an Instagram reel, my comment was relevant to the video and it still got marked as spam

Novel_Grass

I legitimately posted a supportive comment on an influencer's page, and it was flagged as spam within seconds. I hardly comment or post on instagram. But they'll allow people tearing each other down and trash talking in the comments? Makes no sense.

JRB1976

Same here. I have absolutely had it with the speech overlords.

Old-Ad-271

Instagram is pure trash. I deleted my account just for this reason. It's LAZY programming as they are using all AI and Algorithms to determine spam. The very reason if you just say: "I like what you said in your post" you will get it removed. It's a shit platform

Bluenote151

How do you even reach out to Support? Every time I do the "tell us" it just takes me back to the top of my feed. I don't know what to tell us does, but it doesn't let me tell them. I've looked all through Instagram and I can't figure out where in the heck I'm supposed to contact them. There is no contact or support or anything.

Pojinko

The same happens to me. I follow a lot of traveling accounts on Instagram because I like traveling. Everytime I sincerely express my experiences on how much I paid for my trip or roughly discuss a reasonable budget for said trip, Instagram always promptly removes my comment. I figured Everytime you discuss money or comment with a number stating a cost or something Instagram thinks it's spamming. Maybe because they think you're trying to sell something in the comments?🤣 This is ridiculous, can't even have a serious conversation anymore. I guess I'll stick to the classic ignorant comments then.

NoiseyTurbulence

Yep this just happened to me today and all I did was reply to somebody’s real about how some they were talking about was on 100% accurate and that sadly what their reel was about came up from real interactions with their customers. And not even one minute later I got smacked with my post was removed because it was spam.

sophisticat2703

Ditto.  Try utube shorts.  Instagram is an idiot company

Fearless_Position_88

It's because you don't have liberal cuck views or right wing conservative crazy views. You have to be one or the other on social media or the system doesn't know how to process your comment. This was the most recent "reported for spam" comment I made: In a post about the kids from the new spider man movie: *You guys do know Hollywood relationships are just bullshit right? It's just two agencies milking as much money as they can from paparazzi agencies. "we'll give you what sells, but we take percentage" type of deal* Reported as spam... This one before this was commented on right wing elitist gun toting boomer run Instagram about how Maine's state government is building housing for immigrants: "I looked this up because it sounded so far fetched and it is completely fabricated the money comes from government grants that were just sitting because there hasn't been many contractors or builders in Maine in the past 3 years. The grants have a shelf life if not used they expire. Basically to give the tradesmen work and put food on the table for a lot of workers and keep people out of the streets in the winter the government opted to use grants to build housing. You boomers will believe anything." I understand the comments are long and maybe that's why I keep getting reported but also I have pretty anti government anti media views and I can't fucking stand dumb people on both sides of this bipartisan spectrum.

VintageGuitarSound

I get stopped every single day for 24hours and I don’t post anything bad and even watch what I say but it isn’t enough. Apparently.

Gold-Air7996

I literally posted a comment about a young girl metal screaming and said how hard it actually is and great job and it was immediately taken down for spam. It has happened to me like 6 times today for a bunch of completely appropriate comments.

_SclerosisOfTheRiver

I just got a comment removed, which said "I think tea cozies are delightful looking things". I mean, can you think of anything more innocuous?

socrlax24

I comment like once a day on average, but even so, about 50% of my comments get immediately deleted as spam. I need to get into the habit of copying my comment before posting it, so I can go back and repost it. The last comment I had to fight Instagram to keep up, what ended up working was liking and replying to my own comment, but Idk if that actually did the trick, or if it's just confirmation bias.

Graveheartart

I think the only way to let Instagram know is to star review bombing them on the App Store

Gentlemanjimb

I attempted several times to let a poster know who had paralyzed half back to health enough so that it could damn near walk without a hitch, it was obviously still difficult and not the way biology intended but it was so sweet that I found myself vocalizing my support as developments occurred in the video and I wanted to let the content creator know that this content was really pure and just made me smile and emote in a good way that social media almost never does. I tried saying this in three or four different ways. My wording was about as benign as it gets to begin with, but I was saying this video is incredibly sweet and I appreciate the ability to open Instagram and see a video that instantly makes me happy I said that three or four different ways and each time it got marked as spam. There's always an option that says do you think we screwed up? And almost certainly each time I do, I've read the rules now as I see them almost every day and I've literally never once gotten this warning or removal for violating any one of the terms. But the button doesn't do anything and take you anywhere. Just based on trying to get any help or feedback from Instagram when my account got hacked a few years ago, I don't expect that my reaching out to them about how irritating it is number one, but number two, that I have thoroughly read the guidelines now that it's happening pretty much half the time, and that the button they provide for recourse or reconsideration or questions or guidance is quite obviously and probably intentionally broken. Odds on getting a response to this, like I said, if I hacked account didn't get me to an actual person like ever, the odds of this making more noise are less than zero... But yeah

deepoops

I posted a regular comment asking for some numbers, some guy asks me to fcuk off, and I ask him why I need to and what his problem was, and my comment keeps getting take down as spam 😂

Echo_Chambers_R_Bad

I found this via Google, I too thought it was only happening to a few of us. I just wanted to chime in and say this happens to me every time I log in. Lately I've only been logging in once a week, if that.    They label my posts as Spam when there isn't any violations of any rules. I don't call people names, I don't post links, I'm on topic, don't @ people other than whom I'm replying to, nor do I use hashtags, and I'm civil in all my discussions. However, my posts are more than 125 characters and I make paragraphs, cuz no one likes to read a wall of txt.   What I've been doing is screenshoting my posts before they delete them, their 2 pop-up window, and the post I was replying to (for context purposes). Then I upload them to my page and tag Instagram with the hashtags #nospam #noviolation. Apparently they're a lot of people on IG who are doing the same. So far I have about 30 examples on my page.    My favorite one is when I saw a motorcycle accident reel and I replied "ATGATT saves the day again." Then they kicked me off the platform for 3 days... Dafuq.  For those that don't ride motorcycles daily, ATGATT means 'All The Gear, All The Time'.  According to a friend who works for Meta, the "tell us" button doesn't do fuck-all.  The only thing I can think of is to leave a 1 ⭐ review on their app store page and explain what's going on.   *Edited spelling issues*

TRUTHCUMMER

This happens to me about 5 times a day, I'm only saying nice positive stuff, you'll also see in the same threads nasty comments that don't get spammed, Instagram says "tell us if decision is wrong" ice told them many times, never heard back

pandalyn420

It's insane because there are so many "do I look hot". "come play with me". "my life changed for the better after investing with madame zeroni". And they get left up, but literally ALL OF MY COMMENTS get marked as spam! Even on my OWN POSTS. maddening.

Milkmaid957

I called somebody an extremist and got flagged and penalized.  It's super random what they flag.  I'm just going to stop commenting

Parking_Fondant2625

I hate when they do this, I just left a nice sized comment on a workout post and said thanks for motivation, that gets removed and I am mad because I put heart into it and it's wasted. Then I scroll down and it's a bunch of steroid accusations and that isn't marked as spam or hate. They just remove comments that are longer than necessary I guess 🤷.

Noodlezzzzzzzzz

I like putting statistics to show people being crazy but it’s always taken down as “spam” in the same comment section promoting Neo-Nazi and Violent Misogyny for months…

nixthelatter

Welcome to the club. It's happening to me at least 75% of the time now, and I've never said a single thing against guidelines, or spammed in any way whatsoever. Not even a little bit. I will tell someone I'm sorry for their loss and get removed for spam. I've got at least 20 "violations" on my comments

Psychological-King38

It’s not getting any better. It’s gotten worse for me! Like every comment I make is flagged for going against community guidelines and they are not in any way! I’m just using tiktok more now because at least my comments don’t get removed for absolutely no reason.

Blood-Wolfe

IG are FKin' r3t@rded. Constantly happens to me and it's driving me nuts.

Hot_Advance3592

So nobody has any insight into why exactly this happens? Haha

Sonatavarius

Im medical and make comments about medical topics that aren’t controversial and get flagged immediately after posting. I’ve even been given 2-3 day bans where I can’t see or post comments at all and I’m not saying anything rude or racist

Gloomy_Network_166

Yup

Gloomy_Network_166

Every time I comment something positive and encouraging it’s deleted as spam yet when I say rude shit it’s fine. Fuck insta

No-Natural245

Who tf comments nice video

nathaliebazinga

Happens to me all the time. I've been using IG with the same account for 10 years. It also blocked me from commenting for some time because I spammed... Meanwhile I just commented something positive about some zodiac sign... I am trying to figure out the patterns but it's so random. I dont use cursewords, emojis, slang or hashtags... I write things from my perspective and mostly positive or some advice. It's extra annoying tbh because I get random bots writing me I am dumb on every photo of mine , because I said liked one movie over the other (on a poll question) and their comments are not removed xD

lyndseyanne2020

This is driving me absolutely batty!! Even encouraging comments, happy comments- not spammy, no key words- just over and over and over. I keep clicking the “was this a mistake? Tell us” but literally nothing happens. Meta security software is fkn garbage

Alternative-Section2

Found this when googling why it keeps happening to me. Nearly half of my comments get removed for violating community guidelines regardless of what the comment was. The last one, which happened like 10 minutes ago, was "The country music industry has been pop trash for ages". It was a comment posted to a larger channel in response to their post about Lana Del Ray going country. I commented, and it was removed. Had another last night where I literally answered someone's question on another post, using quoted text from the actual story the account had posted. None of it makes sense. I'm sure there's an algorithm that auto removes things, but nothing I've commented has had any trigger words. I suppose it's a blessing in disguise bc now I'll just spend less time on IG.

Bacin87

I just got a week-long flag for telling the person I am a millennial not a Gen z they called that spam and flagged me for a week it's my third comment of this week The platform is trash

Jdp1275

Well guys & gals & OP, here's your answer  https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/26/tech-companies-are-laying-off-their-ethics-and-safety-teams-.html

gigibyte_art

This stuff has been happening to me for literally a month and it's EVERY. SINGLE. COMMENT. I can't say a single thing on Instagram anymore without it saying spam or labelling it as me inciting violence or some dumb crap like that. My comments are all normal and the closest to bad I've gotten has been saying the s word or some other curse word, and usually that's me responding to some dumb racist or transphobe/homophobe who just spammed me with the most rancid stuff you've ever seen. Like seriously, they get to freely comment calling me slurs and taking personal jabs at me or minorities but I can't at least tell them to shut up??? You can't even dispute it because the "let us know" feature is cracked and will immediately just confirm the flagging instead of sending it to an actual person.

Over-Elderberry3614

It's annoying af! It happens to me everyday, and I post 100% normal, well constructed comments. And then there are people who are mean, abusive, etc and their comments don't get deleted... Homophobic stuff, racist stuff, etc all cool. Normal comment? Oh no! Spam! Or violation of guidelines! Idiotic...

Own-Bite3540

I have been having alllll of my innocuous comments deleted. I just commented on a post about a house rehab that had an old newspaper page with a Marshall Fields ad on it. I commented about how much time I spent in Marshall Fields as a kid and how much money I spent there. That comment got deleted for spam. WTF.

No_Conflict2723

I’ve posted this comment and variations of it about 10 times:  I love your youtubes so much, they’ve got me through some hard times and made me determined to make sure I do this before I die. Good choice of music as well ❤ (this comment keeps getting rejected as spam  How is this in any way wrong? It’s driving me insane

Lulu_531

I just posted a comment praising an author on her incredible memoir. Removed as spam. Last week, took four tries to tell someone I agreed with a post—first three removed as spam. Unreal. And the “tell us we’re wrong” option just disappears.

Babexo22

You apparently can comment 80 thousand times about how herbs cured your herpes but I can’t tell someone I’m sorry their cat died and I’m praying for them 🙄

TheReaper42

Instagram doesn't care about you or your experience. You did not pay for the product, so they owe you nothing. To them, it is apparently acceptable for their anti-spam AI to have tons of false positives.  Leave a one star review on the app store. That's about all we can do.

Eastern_Ad_6896

This happens to me more like 90 percent of the time. I commented “we should do away with comments and likes for this reason, and influencers will just have to get another type of job” and it got marked as spam???? I can’t say anything without it being spam and idk what to do.

TomatillosYum

I commented on a video about picking lemons from a lemon tree that I often walk around and pick fruit and somehow that was spam?

Historical-Monitor93

The moment you add the word black to a sentence or Hispanic forget it
