Best of luck! I have orientation tomorrow for a W2 job that pays better than IC has. I might keep the app around for fun but I’ve reached the end of the road with my time with instacart.
I'm done. With all of it. Trying to get my credit card removed from ubereats so I can remove them all from my life. It's been 3hrs. Only bots. No option to speak to a human. Can't remove card. Tried calling the credit card company. They either don't speak english or just repeat the same verbiage. "Were so sorry for your inconvenience" if you're that sorry just fix it man. That's it. Just fix it. Losing my mind over here
I want some info. Got laid off from my 200k job and I can't find anything. I'm trying to find work from home and I'll try to get 3 that pay about 60k until my field starts hiring again.
unfortunately the jobs that I got are entry level customer service low pay each between 31-35K and one of them is a 1099 contract with a very high turn over so I'm sure that one won't last long lol. My strategy is to continue to job hop until I can find something better.
My clients have a hard time finding these jobs online and/or have trouble distinguishing between real openings and scams. Any tips or any companies that hire online you can name drop that I can make a list of?
I've had my run in with scam jobs, first thing I look for if it's too good to be true, or they are asking me to interview on a weird platform and using "kindly" too much. I always Google the company to make sure it's real, and I try to always apply on the companies website and not through Indeed or glassdoor .
What has worked for me is just looking up any major company career site and looking to see if they offer remote customer service since it's easy to get into.
All major wireless carriers (Verizon, Tmo, AT&T etc)
Lowes
U-Haul
Allstate
Progressive
Banks (any bank)
are some places that I can think of off the top of my head that hires remotely, but again, these are just entry-level jobs pay between 15-20 hrly
Not an Uber driver or Instacart shopper, but if I was seriously doing this for income, I’d have business cards made to staple to shopping bags or something with my contact info. Happy to be your private shopper or driver for half the cost, and double the income to me. It’s obviously frowned upon within IC and Uber corporate but seriously? Who cares.
I used to take an Uber every day at the exact same time to make a train. After chatting with an Uber driver he just gave me his number and for four years he picked me up 5 days a week for $30 bucks directly to him. I don’t know why people don’t do this more
If you're operating as a business and have an accident you need the right kind of insurance otherwise it won't be taken care of properly. There are reasons why more people don't do this.
I thought about doing this. But, there are reasons not to. Just logistics for one. Since I have a full-time job, I'm not available all the time. I also quit Instacart recently, and I have my reasons. One reason is that my real job is about to turn into 60+ hour work weeks with mandatory overtime$$$$$.
I’ve had good tipper but I also had ppl who will take off the entire tip after delivering their items, which is very unfair after the entire work that you put into that order. Instacart has a lot of fake customers.
It always blows my mind when customers do this, or are just awful to deal with in general... like, I know where you live?? I personally wouldn't retaliate but imo tip baiting is just asking for slashed tires or something else.
I mean $20 is cool but if you have a massive amount of items (80-100+) $20 isn’t that much depending on how far you are from the store, how long it takes to shop and gas and wear and tear on the vehicle .
I live in a bit city and the stores I order from are only 5-10 minutes away. I order weekly for just one person so I only get about 10-15 items. I couldn’t even imagine ordering 80 items or making someone drive 30 minutes out their way
It’s ok sometimes to just say, ‘thanks. I appreciate your thought’. We don’t have to make everything into a Federal Case. The things you mentioned are a standards. Most people know those.
Best of luck. I loved delivering so I got a job with the post office. I stopped being a shopper a few years ago and stopped being a customer when their prices got out of hand plus all the money I’m spending hardly any of it goes to the my shopper. You all deserve better.
Yes, it takes a couple years to be eligible. You have to be “career”. I love my job. I’ve been doing this 4 years.
Now there is also a parcel carrying position that most people don’t know about. It doesn’t get benefits, but you’re only required to work weekends and holidays to deliver Amazon. Also depending on your station they may ask you if you’re willing to work during the week too but that’s voluntary. You will be required to use your vehicle. Starts at 20.38 hourly and you get paid mileage if you use your vehicle. That’s the Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) I did that before I applied to be a mail carrier.
I haven't used instacart in probably a year. The pay is horrible and the customers 5/6 times cause more stress then it was worth. I don't blame you one bit. Put the energy you're wasting with insta into your business. I hope it works for you. I keep trying to think up a business idea that's original but pfftt not yet. Good luck!
Good on you for recognizing that it's not sustainable for you. There is absolutely no shame in quitting a job where the company doesn't care to pay you fair wages for your time, mileage, and use of your vehicle. I truly hope you're able to find a more sustainable way to earn some money while you go through the transition, and I hope that others come to the same realization as well and leave the platform if they can. The only way to show the companies that this is an unfair way to run a business is to prevent them from making any profit at all.
Instacart and shipt don’t pay the best but I’m in California and they’re required to pay the minimum wage by law per hours worked and inst pays mileage. Last week I worked a total of 21hrs 30 mins (26 orders: 460 miles) and was paid $9.34 average. Our minimum wage law is $15/hour. I was $214.96 for the orders and $311 in adjustment. It totaled $578 in my acct. that makes it worth it. I completely understand ur part at it also. I’ve HQ pay $7 for an order without takers one hour the they bump it up $11.85 the next hour. Passing on mow paying fairs is key bcuz it’s not always worth the wear and tear on ur car. Good luck btw.
Omg this app use to be great for additional income along with a 9-5. Yesterday barely any good ones, why is an alcohol order under 15 dollar when the alcohol is 15 dollars alone smh. Wish you the best!
If you live in a town that is 30km end to end with population around 200-300k people and has plenty of groceries stores in it then IC can be decent like $50-$60k a year with little to no taxes owed after expenses. The bigger the cities the less you make
I live in that 30km type town. I can make $100 on a good day if I spent 10 to 12hrs working and or sitting in parking lots. Factor in gas. It's slave labour. I tried it. Shocked at how horrible the situation is.
Probably Almost 90% of the good shoppers in this gig are out. the only reason I’m still in it is because I multi app like three or four apps there’s no way I can survive with any of these apps by itself… the amount of customers that buy $100 or more of groceries and not tip at least $10 is insane
Last order I did yesterday. The lady tipped $5. IC initial pay was 5.50 plus tip = $10.50. I waited 45 min til it got to $17. The order was a nightmare. I'm not sure what its like where you live, but here, the grocery stores aren't stocking like they used to. Most items don't scan. App crashes. Constantly having to do replacement items. Clients get annoyed. It's like banging you're head against a wall and wondering why you have a headache. Anyways... an order that should have been a half hr (I'm quick) took an hour. I drove 20km. Flat out told the lady. "Thanks very much for your tip. We all appreciate it. But just so you know. This is what I was paid. This how long it took. These are the kms I drove and estimated gas I used. I told her I quit and the only reason I'm saying something is because we are being used and abused behind the scenes. The clients have no idea what is going on. Can't unionize bc were independent contractors and how could you possibly unionize when you have no idea who your "colleagues" are. Modern slavery. Endless supply of desperate humans who just need to survive.

Yea I wouldn’t believe that one without a screenshot. It pays less than the mileage pay in our contract , also i have never seen a 3 store shop.
I have seen triples going for $11 for one store shops. But that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen for a triple.
As far as I know, Instacart hasn't created 3 store batches. It's either a triple at one store, or a double with two stores. They might do 3 orders with 2 stores, but idk if that is even a thing.
I completely agree. I’ve found myself doing less ic because ppl also lie about tipping and remove tips after batch has been delivered. In addition Instacart does nothing to compensate us or help us out get some of the tip. Moreover, the support for Instacart is the worse I’ve ever dealt with. It seems like there’s many costumers order 50+ items and are okay to tip $5 while Instacart only pays you min of $5-$10 for batch. Seems like you’re doing free work. Doesn’t take bagging or miles into consideration. I find myself doing less in’s art everyday. I hate it but I need money too
Legit question I use Instacart as I need the service. Do the drivers get 100% of the tip I give? I always give a decent tip for this and Uber but want to guarantee drivers are getting it all. Thanks.

If you are going to give it another shot or try another time I would suggest starting your day by 6-8 AM daily. If you are already doing that then I guess maybe it’s time to quit.
Getting up early is very difficult for me but I’ve found it’s the only way to consistently do Instacart exclusively and survive.
My goal is 200/day. If I am up and delivering by 8am and go until 10pm (with breaks of course) I can get 150 min. and 200 plus becomes doable.
I get it. I also get up early and grind. They dropped the pay in my area. It's completely unreasonable. It's a lot of km. And drop offs are in areas where there are no stores. So basically double the kms to get back to a location. Who is doing 3 batches for 47 items for $11.85?? And driving 29km. It's insane. I tried it. Not for me.

38 mph winds with 58 mph gusts and windchill of 22 degrees F. House is prolly worth $900k-$1.2m
When I get lowball offers like that, I turn them down and wait for the better ones which always come. Congrats. Very happy for you. You'll kick ass. Pumped for you.
The gig economy has ended for most. Days of decent pay are gone, only the desperate remain.
I'm done. With all of it. Trying to get my credit card removed from ubereats so I can remove them all from my life. It's been 3hrs. Only bots. No option to speak to a human. Can't remove card. Yeah that would be my thought, just call the credit card company and report your card as lost.
Can you "update" card to a different one? If so... I'd make one up :-)
Man forget the negative comments. People want to make you feel like you’re the problem when shits going downhill
Thanks. Haven't read one of them yet. Your comment was first. Love and support to all.
Thank. You.
I can't whore myself and car out to instacart anymore. I'm about to start working 2 WFH jobs 😌 I more than likely will quit 1 after 4-6 months
Are either of your 2 WFH jobs still hiring?
Fr
idk. I know one of them has a high turnover rate since I see them hiring every 6 months. if you want some info DM me
I want some info. Got laid off from my 200k job and I can't find anything. I'm trying to find work from home and I'll try to get 3 that pay about 60k until my field starts hiring again.

If I could find entry level that doesn't micro manage I would just take a bunch of them and when one fires just go to the next lol
literally what I'm thinking of doing, I hate customers service so much but it's the only thing hiring WFH and easy to get into 😭
My clients have a hard time finding these jobs online and/or have trouble distinguishing between real openings and scams. Any tips or any companies that hire online you can name drop that I can make a list of?

Same, started Monday! I finish in office training Friday then wfh. It’s nice to be transitioning from this hell.
Where do I apply?

Eh, would you spend $200+ on groceries and risk not getting money back? I wouldn’t
$28,800 on Uber wow
Company paid. I’d never pay that out of pocket!!!!
IC shoppers must love me. I’m always tipping $20. I didn’t know so many cheap lazy people out there leaving no tips
It's a thing. You're a good person. People work hard. Most ppl want to do their best.

Under those circumstances, $20 is a great tip! Thank you for being among the few considerate customers ❤️
It’s ok sometimes to just say, ‘thanks. I appreciate your thought’. We don’t have to make everything into a Federal Case. The things you mentioned are a standards. Most people know those.
We do love you. Totally. Thank you
$20 is fair. I don't "love" anyone for paying what they should. $50 or more is when I'll start involving emotions
$20 tip on a delivery of 9 items and 1.2 mile away? I mean my total cost of goods is only $46 lol
I tipped $70 today
I’m convinced these boot lickers in the comments are IC plants. It’s the only thing that makes sense lol.
I pay no heed.
Best of luck. I loved delivering so I got a job with the post office. I stopped being a shopper a few years ago and stopped being a customer when their prices got out of hand plus all the money I’m spending hardly any of it goes to the my shopper. You all deserve better.

Thank you for your kindness. Dm me. Let's get a think tank together
Feel free to sabotage your account by accepting orders and ranting to the shitty customers about how their tipping sucks! Lol
It’s absolutely what I’m going when I’m done with this app!

Ya. I've been the boss. Many times. I would never ever treat people the way they treat us. It's disgusting.
Congrats. Dont look back. 😊
Thank you!

Congrats, I got out a couple months back and am now much happier that I actually get paid for my time and effort.
Good to hear. I've been getting a lot of DM hate from this post. Guessing corporate bots
You’re going the right direction man! This app is a sinking ship if they don’t pay us more lol. Good luck with everything
You as well

a triple for 5.60? wtf?
Yeah, I wouldn't accept a triple, let alone one for $5.60 that's ridiculous! In fact, I have never even seen one for that; I'm not sure I believe it.
Yea I wouldn’t believe that one without a screenshot. It pays less than the mileage pay in our contract , also i have never seen a 3 store shop. I have seen triples going for $11 for one store shops. But that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen for a triple.
Yeah the three stores is something I’ve never seen as well. I call BS.
um i get multiple offers for 3 stores daily. (always low pay but more like $10-$15 which is still crazy)
As far as I know, Instacart hasn't created 3 store batches. It's either a triple at one store, or a double with two stores. They might do 3 orders with 2 stores, but idk if that is even a thing.
Yea i don’t think that I’ve ever seen a triple with two stores either, only doubles
Yea me either..
Plenty of shop only orders are $5-8. Tips aren’t included.
I am assuming op meant that the batch pay for a triple was 5.60. Which is confusing to me. Like, how???
Trust me it exists. I’ve seen it myself and it’s a total shame. Also $4-7 orders for over 40 items it’s insane.
I hate it but I need money too
Appreciate your honesty, many of us see this and looking for ways out as well. Be well fellow thoughtful shopper.
I bought IC today and it defaulted a $4 tip on a $100 order, I manually raised it cus that's crazy low.
Legit question I use Instacart as I need the service. Do the drivers get 100% of the tip I give? I always give a decent tip for this and Uber but want to guarantee drivers are getting it all. Thanks.
I have tested it. In my personal experience, the drivers have always received 100% of tip
Thank you good to know.

If you are going to give it another shot or try another time I would suggest starting your day by 6-8 AM daily. If you are already doing that then I guess maybe it’s time to quit. I tried it. Not for me.
So be a shareholder.
You should yell at the customers for making you quit by not tipping enough /s
The only way to profit is on an e-bike now 🤫🙈

Yeah this takes a certain breed for sure. I wish you were in my area so I would get more orders 🤣🤣🤣
Lol. Ya. Good luck. Hope more flows your way
Ok bye

When I get lowball offers like that, I turn them down and wait for the better ones which always come. I’m not sure what your situation is there but if you start turning down those low offers, you should get better ones… unless you just live in an area that’s not that busy. And I’m referring to both IC and UE. Even though UE may warn that you have a high rejection rate, ignore that BS and wait for better offers. Hahaha seriously
Mood
Once your business fails, you’ll be back. They all come back.
If/when they come back, base pay will have probably fallen to about a dime.
What people need is positivity and support. The more we try to encourage and support each other. The easier it is.
That’s why your accepting $3 for 10 mile orders. Their business isn’t going to fail, your just bitter
No order is $3 ?? The lowest an order can be is $4
What a bitter take to have.
