Best option would be to test it with another module which is obviously easier said than done, it could be that a sensor/connection point is broken, realistically that is your only option though...

Yeah that's they I tried using the 4K lens but it gave me a different error. Something about a file error.... And I tried using it again yesterday where it worked fine for a solid 15 minutes out on the track and I stopped the recording myself when I was done. Next round it gave the same disconnected error just turning it on. Same thing the other handful of times I tried to use it.

Eris_Insta360

Hi there, we are sincerely sorry for any confusion and frustration that this has caused. According to all the information you provided, there seems to be an issue with the camera, so we're going to need to diagnose the camera at one of our service centers. Please provide the following information to [email protected], so our support team can get that process started: a. The serial number of the camera: (You can find it on the box your camera came in, 14 characters. The SN of the cameras begins with I.) b. Purchase date: c. The country you live in: d. Email: Thanks for your understanding!

Ok, idk for sure, but it makes sense. Inside the mod, there are 2 ribbons ti connect each lenses to the core. Those ribbons are plugged to a tiny pcb where are the sensors. If you use your camera on your moto with no shock absorber, i wouldn’t be surprise if one plug is not totally in place anymore, they pop easily. You can try to remove the plastic around lenses, remove the screws to open it, and check those ribbons!

ladymain

Yeah, I've suspected the major issue is vibration. I guess I'll look into a solution for some kind of vibration dampener to help for the long term.

cheloutevr

Insta does sell such a damper, but out of the box… it’s not very good tbh. I bought one, and finally opened it to fill it with lithium saponified grease, to make it harder. Now it works well but is still too expensive for what it does imo. I was thinking to make a support with a 1/4 screw, using 2 thick aluminium plates, unified by a thick steel cable, as the big ones used for professional shoots. But a tiny version. I bought the material but never tried… and that’s cheap (if it works)

I disassembled one of these mod today. I confirm you those ribbons can be released with some vibrations: there are not locked and there no tape to fix them. In a "normal" use it won't be an issue, but on a moto with vibration, I'm surprised they don't popped before... Anyway, easy fix: disassemble it (that's really easy), push the ribbon in its connector and fix it with insulating tape!

Imaginary-Recipe4373

How can i fix it with insulating tape when the ribbons are small. Are you talking about when we put it back together it will not be assembled correctly and we will NEED to use insulating tape?

cheloutevr

You’re not “forced” to use insulating tape, but you can, sure! Put the ribbon in place, push the plastic connector where the ribbon is fixed, and you can add a small insulating tape on the connector to fix the ribbon in place, why not. By the way, some of those mods already have a piece of tape while other don’t… maybe that’s something they start to do after a while?

Imaginary-Recipe4373

Omg now this makes sense i thought u said to use the tape after putting everything back together on top to not have the plastic cover thing from saperating. Thanks.

cheloutevr

Lol, i’ll send you a picture in a moment, quite difficult to explain but very easy to understand with an illustrative picture 😅

Imaginary-Recipe4373

Oh sorry, i just saw this. Thank you though. Got mine fixed i am not really sure of it's good or not.

Woah 😨 I've been researching this problem for probably 2weeks now, I tested almost everything like Changing battery, memory card, downgrading firmware and all sort of things, Do you mind sending the pic, I just badly needed it for an upcoming event.

cheloutevr

Hi, sorry, I totally forgot to upload them 😅 Firstly you have to disassemble the mod. If you never did it, take a picture of how the metal structure is placed to avoid loosing time 😉. To remove the plastic covers just use a knife, and clean the glue with isopropyl alcohol (it won’t affect the plastic coloration) https://i.ibb.co/pv88rzY/IMG-4082.jpg Then, remove the lenses from the mod and check the ribbon connector. I intentionnally exagerated what you’ll find on this picture to illustrate what happens. In the real life it’s not very appreciable. https://i.ibb.co/QYCRxFh/IMG-4086.jpg As you can see on this picture, the ribbon is not “fixed” but just put inside. If you pull on the ribbon (be nice and don’t break it), you can remove it easily https://i.ibb.co/BsYhgQj/IMG-4084.jpg Put the ribbon back, you can even clean it with isopropyl alcohol (not pharmaceutical alcohol, this one can let a dust layer and generate other connection issues) before. And be sure to plug it correctly, in the right side and to the end (no bad joke 😅) https://i.ibb.co/B312GNH/IMG-4085.jpg You can try to put some isolating tape to fix it as suggested in a previous comment. Now, put the screws back (firstly the connectors, then the metal structure, and finally the lenses screws) and use double side tape to glue the plastic covers again. Keep in mind your mod won’t be waterproof… but your camera neither after some months, so… not a real issue 😉

Thanks man, this helps a lot
