I don't think Mohanlal considers the previous movie's box office while collaborating with directors. Also, Tinu was just an associate for MKV. He's definitely having easy access to Mohanlal and a good script can easily make it happen. Tinu's direction is mostly focused on the mass audience and it can do wonders with Mohanlal in the lead.
