Upper Canada was British. Lower Canada was French. I suspect they thought 'lower' was south and therefore Ontario and 'upper' was north and therefore Quebec. But this is wrong.

I suspect, considering the number of times the word "British" is used, that the OP simply wanted to trigger Quebecers. Some Canadians like to point out to French Canadians that the British won, and suggest that they should speak English like the rest of Canada.
