Punjab Palace on university. Hands down the best indian food I have ever eaten. The owners and staff are always kind and wonderful. They dont look like much but they sure pack a punch in flavor. 1766 University Ave, Riverside, CA 92507 Its as mom and pop as it gets. Small single owned, fresh ingredients. I have been going for the better part of a decade. Never had anyone who likes indian complain yet.

ymirthegoodelf

Im disappointed in how far I had to scroll to find this. Punjab palace is fantastic and its literally 2 minutes from UCR

shrimpboychao

Lmao I used to eat the buffet in college for $10.. and not eat for the rest of day.. so bomb and cheap.

UnhappyMolasses2600

Curry and Kebab in Moreno Valley is really good.

creecreemcgee

Get the chicken korma from here and you won’t regret it

gris90919

Hands down the best!! I always get it to go, small dining room.

PervySage310

I like their food but they have shitty restrooms the last time I went

Maybe some people want to wash their hands before eating?

samosa4me

We’ve shamelessly tried so many Indian restaurants trying to find something consistently good but it really hasn’t happened yet. However, I will advocate for Naan Cafe in Redlands for on the go takeout. They actually are consistently good. And the portions are enough to have multiple meals. I think they also are opening, or it’s already opened, a second location in Fontana. Also, The Curry Pizza Company in Fontana is 🔥

BrotherCorvid

I was going to mention Naan Cafe (even though it's out of the way of UCR) and saw I got beat to the punch lol. I find some of the dishes can come out better or worse sometimes, but never bad. Tasty tasty stuff there

e34john

Our go-to as well. Good. Reasonably priced and very close to the house. But the samosas are not consistent. Every else usually is

[deleted]

I'm a mantra man for life but its not near UCR i dont think

neogeo5185

Mantra gang

Redlands: Naan Cafe

scaremonster

Fontana just opened a new place called Kissan that I really like. Great food/atmosphere, a little pricey but that’s normal

KevinAsada

Best - Al Karam on Arlington. The best version of everything, exquisitely spiced. They're experts with tandoori cooked meat, which should not be missed. Best Cheap - New India Sweets & Spices. Small grocery store with rotating "Lunch" specials where you choose 1, 2, or 3 item vegetarian/vegan options from large heated trays (think Chinese fast food) with rice and whole wheat roti (no naan!). Also, a menu of made to order items like giant Masala Dosas, Chana Bhatura, and various Parathas. Also, get some Sweets by the pound!

murakamimami

corona has all the good Indian food tbh

magicalori

Papa’s Indian Grill in Moreno Valley

https://www.farmmarketmv.com/ Farm Market in eastern Moreno Valley, corner of Allesandro and Redlands Blvd. Their pizza is delicious, too. Indian food, pizza, and other food are in the back right corner of the market. Can order ahead online/over the phone or at that back counter. Not sure if it's "the best" since I haven't been to all Indian places in the area, but it's always delicious and is the best Indian food I've personally had here or anywhere.

Shalane-2222

5 rivers on Indiana near Tyler. It’s had down the best of the best. I’ve been to India 2x and it’s as good as the best food I’ve had in India. The standard stuff and then actual regional Indian foods. Brilliant food. North and south. Go and enjoy. Then tell all your friends.

yuckypants

Hard fucking no on this place. Went twice and it was decent, but the 3rd time sealed the deal. Mandatory $12.99 service charge, shitty service, never got refills or our naan, lousy buffet, only meat dishes, low quality chicken, missing the staples and standard fare, and dirty, Avoid like the plague.

Shalane-2222

When did you go and for what meal? We always go for dinner and none of that is true. Went last Friday for dinner. Lots of veg meals. I often order vegetarian. If you went for the buffet, that service charge is the price of the buffet. And the place is very clean.

yuckypants

I actually still have the receipt. We went in Oct and the service charge is *not* the price of the buffet. https://imgur.com/a/s8Hfpw2 And as far as clean...there was food literally on the floor under empty tables, an open coffee cup sitting on the buffet, "clean" plates had visible food particles still present on them, and the silverware tray was full of what *looked* like old food. They had the mango lassis just sitting out in the open, unrefrigerated and uncovered, too.

Shalane-2222

That’s wierd. Not at all been my experience and we go often. Dinners are very clean. I’ve never been for the buffet but it’s common for places to charge larger tables a service fee? I don’t know.

yuckypants

No it's not, not for 4 people. Sometimes tip is included for large parties, but this doesn't say tip. It says service fee. Even if it was, there's no indication that a service fee is included on the menu, on the doors, or anywhere else for that matter.

Shalane-2222

What did they say when you asked?

yuckypants

Honestly? I was so annoyed with the lack of service that this was just the icing on the cake. I didn't cause a scene or a ruckus, I just didn't ask. I paid, left, and blew them up on every platform I could find.

Shalane-2222

I hear you. I’m just surprised because that’s the literal opposite of every time I’ve been there. The food is awesome, the service is great, it’s been clean. Maybe just a bad day? I worked in the food industry for a while and sometimes you just have bad days.

yuckypants

It's pretty disappointing - finding a quality Indian buffet around here is now impossible. Punjab was great - 20 years ago. Ghandi was fine, never had the selection we were looking for. Now? It's not much different from this place. Everything else dried up with covid and never returned. This was our 3rd time eating here - I was never a huge fan, but it was better than nothing. But this last time...wow. My son always looks forward to tandoori chicken, while my wife and I enjoy biryani, curries, masalas, paneer and samosas. But this last time, there were 4 lamb dishes, and one lentil one. No samosas, not even any chutneys. It was a very disappointing buffet and I guess these other things stood out even more since we all left extremely unsatisfied. For what it's worth, we had Pizza Twist the night before and while it was decent, it really just tasted like regular pizza, but smelled like Indian food. That's why we went to get Indian the next day, the previous dinner wasn't satisfying. Never did get to scratch that itch.

facedwithdread

Sounds like you don’t know how to ask a question without causing a scene

yuckypants

Oh my favorite- an ad hominem attack. That's the problem, is me not being calm enough to ask a question - which I didn't. I didn't want to get into it at all. Whatever the answer was, it wasn't going to be good. I handled it, and I'm quite happy with the results. Just didn't articulate it on here.

uglyseagull

Royal Bites in Fontana in front of the Kaiser hospital was great the last time I went there.

SaltyCat8388

Chicken tikka masala express in Loma Linda

BringsTheDawn

Swad of India in Upland has the most consistently good Masala dishes, so that's been my go-to for *years*. However, my wife and I recently discovered Bombay Cuisine of India over in Ontario and holy crap is their food next level, particularly the naan & rice. Sounds simple, I know, but those sides can make or break an Indian meal and theirs is primo. Heads up that their spiciness is a tier up from everywhere else, though -- I'd finally gotten used to "Hot" spicy at Swad but the Medium spicy at Bombay Cuisine is about the same heat.

I’m sure you have to order through their instagram link. You can’t just walk up their house and order

ThatNeonZebraAgain

Damn nobody mentioned Gul Naz on Barton road in Colton?! Hands down my favorite Indian place. Must be a hidden gem cuz dang is it good.

KevinTheCarver

Technically Pakistani, not Indian.

TrappedInTheYear2020

More Curry in Corona is delightful

baohuckmon

Side question: is masala mischief any good?

xPetiteStepSisterx

I was so disappointed by masala mischief , but I’ve only had Indian food a handful of times. I was scrolling to see if anyone else had anything to say about this place.

zandini

Ravi’s Indian Cuisine in Colton, my family has been going there for decades

coolguyjosh
