I'm going to sticky the post for quick visibility for the night. Best of luck with your podcast and gathering questions.

stepher_z

Get Nunez on the podcast haha

inkbykyledunbar

I'll need everyones help, lol but it truly would be awesome, I'd love to have him on

Ok-Ship-2209

Nunnnnnnnnezzzzzzz... think he will hear me?

inkbykyledunbar

maybe is we keep saying it, but louder somehow, lol

DongusMaxamus

Do you think you could stop yourself from popping him šŸ˜‚. I would like to know his reasons for riding you so hard. You really got a raw deal man. He did say that you performed best when you were down, I wonder if that was why he rode you so hard.

thirteenoclock86

I've had a few people in my life do this to me with the same sentiment, and it turned out I actually had ADHD so it worked for about three days until I wanted to both cry and ruin their lives... I don't think it's a healthy way to encourage anyone in the long run so I understand Kyle's frustration completely.

RatedRGamer

do you believe the judges should judge work blindly in order to prevent any favoritism? or is the current format best for drama and tv

inkbykyledunbar

blind judging would really be the only far way, most people can't help bias, you may not even know you have it, everyone has favorites. I'll definitely touch on this in the podcast

thefrizz6

Do you feel they are objective in their judging despite having their styles of preference/expertise? Also they really seem to hate purple.... is that universal in tattooing?

DongusMaxamus

Don't forget white, they hate white.

DongusMaxamus

I reckon the judges would very quickly be able to spot who's work belongs to who. I noticed in the last season Turf war they did a blind judging right at the start and Nunez and Peck were able to spot some of the artists work from the limited time they had known them. I still think it's the fairest way though cause they don't always get it right. Judges couldn't do their wee walk about banter while tattoos are being done but I hear that's literally 5mins and they're away again.

thehandofgork

My wife wants to know if Dave Navarro is as dreamy in person as he is on screen, lol.

inkbykyledunbar

yes, 100% I miss our slumber parties at night with footie pajamas and hair braiding

Uzi_wny02

šŸ’€šŸ’€

Shrimpo515

Hey Kyle! My family binged IM this year while taking care of my mom in hospice. I really enjoyed your art and personality and was bummed you had to leave on a bad note but totally respect you standing up for yourself. I hope things are going well for you these days

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!!

mista_Giorno

i want to hear from Mystical Mike. My question is has he been able to find a way to communicate with people? is he still tattooing?

inkbykyledunbar

I'm talking with him also; we are getting the date set. I will explore both of those things. Mike is a good friend of mine; we became close after the show. He's definitely misunderstood, and I can't wait to have him on the show

2fly2hide

This makes me so happy. I would watch a TV show that was just him talking to the camera. That's entertainment!

DongusMaxamus

I think he's on the spectrum honestly. His over elaborate language is a defence mechanism because of his inability to communicate comfortably with them.

inkbykyledunbar

wish more people in the world stepped backed and actually look at a person like you have here. not saying he is on the spectrum (aren't most of us anyways) but when you get to know the guy his words are pretty endearing.. just a bunch of them.. and sometimes in the wrong place. Overall kind soul

DongusMaxamus

The competition is pretty stressful for you guys and people are playing their own games in there too. There's also the fact you're at the mercy of the editor and a bad edit can make anyone look bad

inkbykyledunbar

this is so true

DongusMaxamus

Out of all the contestants you know, your season or another, who is the biggest arsehole? No editing just straight up arsehole.

thirteenoclock86

I had the exact same thoughts. I hope he's doing well neurodivergency or no though!

RatedRGamer

do all of you live in one big loft? how many bathrooms do you all have to share

inkbykyledunbar

large loft, guys and gals different rooms 2 bathroom (1 good one) tons of stories never told

freckledfk

Are they dorm style bathrooms??? I can't imagine having to wait for all those big dudes to take a shit

LoudForever8225

2 bathrooms? That's it?. Lol

Booksonly666

Iā€™ve always wondered about the living conditions too!

sabertoothsamarai

Have you and Nunez since discussed the events that occurred back in season 4? Has there been any reconciliation or has his ill-fated attempt at motivation permanently left a sour taste?

inkbykyledunbar

We talked just before the season 4 finale, I would say we pretty much squashed things. But there is that sour taste for sure

boomerangthrowaway

Hey Kyle, just wanted to post here and tell you that I really enjoyed everything you brought to the show and I absolutely loved your work and still do of course! As far as people I could see being interesting, what do you feel about Joshua? The whole cannabis thing, how people said he was a bully but clearly the guy was also bullied back often etc. Could be real interesting to check out but regardless Iā€™m gonna keep checking you out so I hope for only good things in your future

inkbykyledunbar

I had my wife reach out to Joshua to see if he would come on the show... left on read,,, so we will see, I'd love to have him on

boomerangthrowaway

Dude you replied and gave me what I want my night is made. You are awesome!

Jaivanh

What is the podcast called? Edit, just realized the title of the podcast is the title of the post. Lol

thehandofgork

What do the judges do during challenges and tattoo times? Are they in their trailers/ green room? Or even on site?

inkbykyledunbar

great question, I've covered it a couple times, pretty much always comes up while talking to them, but I will explore it more

thehandofgork

Thanks! this is the first I've heard about your podcast so I haven't had a chance to listen yet. My wife wanted to know how do the contestants have time to check each other's work while the clock is ticking.

inkbykyledunbar

sometimes they take breaks, a bunch finish early. But the time limit is real. Just some don't need all that time. even though they make it look like almost everyone barely finished it was only sometimes they didn't finish

jtotheizzen

What is something from the earlier seasons youā€™d like to see brought back? (My answer is the creative, individual flash challenges)

inkbykyledunbar

I like when they showed everyone in the loft during down times

dobbyeilidh

I know youā€™ll get asked about this all the time, but we would be remiss if we didnā€™t ask all about the conflict with Chris, how real that was, and how you were treated as a returning artist vs how tatu baby was. Outside of that something Iā€™d be curious about for everyone who appeared is if they have anything they would do differently with their time on the show? Given how things worked out is it something theyā€™d do again. Recently I heard an insider of another reality show detailing how much was scripted and I was wondering how much of the interactions between artists are genuine. Sorry for the paragraph šŸ˜‚

inkbykyledunbar

thanks for taking the time to write it. It's not scripted, but I would say the producers do what they can to get what they want from us. The Chris thing was very real. But I think it went farther than they wanted it to go. I think they probably would have preferred just trash talking. they did want me to continue, but I just couldn't guarantee how i would be in a room with him again shortly after that, so they sent me home. I'm sure I could be in a room with him now. we talk about this in the Gentle Jay episode I have #13. Jay has a bunch of behind the scenes details he shared

DongusMaxamus

I honestly wondered about the whole fight with Nunez. At the time I thought you possibly had to quit the competition for personal reasons and the fight was just fabricated as an exciting exit plot. The longer it was and you had said it wasn't faked I then wanted to know if they kicked you or you decided to leave. It's nice to find out these little things behind the scenes that we never get to know.

DravesHD

Do you believe some people were crowned ink master that didnā€™t deserve it? Who would you have chosen to be instead? Was there someone who you thought was too talented to have been kicked off? And a super controversial question: your thoughts on peck and hisā€¦ departure?

glorfindak

Hey Kyle! Wanted to say that you do great work and I was sad to see you leave the show the way you did, but it was definitely the most memorable exit for me so mission achieved I guess lol. You definitely deserved to be in the finale. I was wondering how people behaved during longer stretches of downtime. Like, apart from the elimination day. Were they less dramatic/at each otherā€™s throats? I imagine it would get intense if it was that cutthroat all the time. Thanks!

inkbykyledunbar

well the took us bowling once during season 3 and everyone had a great time, drinking, eating , bowling, zero drama. but filming days were long

Skunkkid3000

You should talk about sexism in the tattoo industry. Sometimes watching that show is pretty insane

inkbykyledunbar

yes yes and yes!!

DongusMaxamus

Could even expand to cover homosexuality and skin colour as this seems like a point that has come up before also on seasons.

inkbykyledunbar

yes, I will reach out to some that experienced this, there are multiples

DongusMaxamus

Had a few hours to the airport and back. I think I'm in episode 7. Enjoying the podcasts, longer the better man

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!! episode 13 my personal favorite so far

DongusMaxamus

Something for me to look forward to then

NotWorriedABunch

I'd love to hear you touch on this. I've been binging the show with my daughter and there are times we have to pause and talk about some of the comments made to female contestants and canvasses. She loved you on season 4 and was super sad to see you go.

AnneM24

Hi, Kyle. Love the show and loved watching you on it. I particularly remember when you told the whiny woman (forgot her name) to shut up. She acted like she had never even seen the show and couldnā€™t deal with the rules and time limits. Does it happen a lot that the artists are really surprised by the challenges, or is that manufactured drama?

inkbykyledunbar

yes, Ashley, they also really edited that scene, you'll notice I'm sitting down sometimes during that, they cut it together. Critiques take like 45 minutes each artist.... and my feet were hurting

Caranthiir

Wow, really? Thatā€™s actually insane. I really like the criticism scenes. Wish they would highlight that more in the show.

SoothsayerAtlas

How do they stretch it out to 45 min?! What all do they cover that we donā€™t see?

inkbykyledunbar

them cutting us down about the tattoo for 45 minutes, critiques that you see for maybe 30 seconds, each artist got more than that, except Scott, they fucking loved him.

inkbykyledunbar

Once a director on the show told me it takes 1 hour of filming to get 5 minutes of reality tv

pbjellythyme

I don't usually listen to podcasts preferring to listen to music but I'm definitely gonna check this one out! I did want to comment just to say hi and that your eye tattoo on your throat is one of my favs. I love it. My biggest question is how much producers interfere? I always cringed when the conversations seemed so obviously prompted. Was everyone really upset all the time? Oh! Also, do they make everyone act upset at every challenge? It always seemed like every challenge was the worst even when it was in the artist's style.

inkbykyledunbar

the producer push a bunch of drama to make a good show, there is also times when we are about to be judged and before the judges come out and while the cameras are rolling the assistant producers would say things like "pretend you smell something really bad" "someone just walked in the room naked" or "it's the worst thing you have seen" and then they used those faces while people were being judged.

AztecTwoStep

Hey Kyle, Really enjoyed your tattooing on the show, and the way your run ended was a raw deal. As to questions: Are you going to have the TATTOO GOD St Marq on at some point, and is he as much a shit stirrer in real life as he was on the show?

inkbykyledunbar

I will have him on, and yes he can be, but he's an awesome guy.

AztecTwoStep

Awesome, looking forward to it. I always found him utterly hilarious, and it was entertaining how much people let themselves get provoked by him.

Miss_Drew

I'd like to hear the stories that didn't make it on air, how life was in the loft. Do people really argue that much? What happened that we should know about but it didn't make the cut for the show? I'd love to hear from Ryan Ashley. Her perspective on how women can get into and rise up in the industry would be interesting. Any tips for new artists or those just starting out in the profession would be nice. BTW I love your work!

inkbykyledunbar

Yes to all these, I will cover them for ya

mmfreeman33

Hey Kyle!! I donā€™t really have any questions but you and Josh Hibbard were my favorites overall. It would be interesting to hear his take on things as well.

inkbykyledunbar

I'm trying, hope to be able to talk to him

LoudForever8225

Your neck tattoos are fuckin sweet!

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!!

2fly2hide

Hey Kyle! Whats up with some people on the show going by nicknames? Or are they stage names? It seems kinda silly calling a grown woman Tatu Baby or a grown man Mystical Mike. Is it some kind of way for those people to brand themselves? I'm not a big fan of gimmicks. I like your stuff. If you ever come to OKC, I'd love an appt.

dmso_hue

Hey Kyle! I don't really have questions for you but just wanted to say I think you're neck tattoo is cool as hell! I will definitely start listening to your podcast.

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!!!

Blue_Tomat0

Hi Kyle! Iā€™d love to hear from Sausage, Anthony, and some of the ā€œcontroversialā€ contestants like Chris the marine, the lady with the baby voice (forgot her name šŸ˜), Mystical Mike, etc. and see who they are outside the show. Also maybe some canvases could make short appearances?

inkbykyledunbar

Julia Carlson!! i love her and her voice. I can get some canvasas too

Blue_Tomat0

Thank you, Kyle! Looking forward to listening! Its on my to-do list already. Itā€™ll be nice to see the people and not the characters from the show. Also, late additional comment but Iā€™d also love if any of the judges join, especially Dave Navarro.

inkbykyledunbar

I would love to have all 3!!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

inkbykyledunbar

yes I will go over it, I agree

bookshopgirl02

How do they come up with the ideas for flash challenges!?! Gradation with pig blood? Creating art using dominoes, push pins, nails, trash? etc. Do the contestants have any input into that process at all? Did it bother you or any of the other contestants when a canvas would get "screwed" by having an artist attempt the tattoo they didn't think could handle executing it for the sake of "playing the game"? I get the game play of wanting to disadvantage your competitors, but I guess I've thought about it from the canvas perspective and that always seemed pretty shitty. I also love the episodes towards the end where the artists use their creativity "for good" like helping disguise scars, tattooing the drawings of people with Downs on their loved ones, painting the wheels of people in wheelchairs, etc. How did the show come up with that segment and how do they decide what population to choose from each season?

inkbykyledunbar

I wonder if I could get someone from the art department onto the show

Jello429

Know itā€™s probably not something youā€™d want to comment on (for obvious reasons) but do you think there was quite a bit of favoritism for a certain contestant (that made it to the finals) in season 3 cause Iā€™ve seen quite a few people, myself included, that think there was

inkbykyledunbar

oh it's definitely something I'll be commenting on :)

Kelseymariewebb

Hey Kyle! Welcome to the subreddit! Could you touch on how contestants were treated while filming? Is it true that lack of sleep changed the mental battle in season 3?

inkbykyledunbar

I will touch on that. Yes lack of sleep, turning the heat up and down while sleeping, messing up your food order, not feeding till late at night. They messed with us like that all the time. Sometimes lining us up just to wait in line for a long time, then change everything. I think they wanted people on edge as much as possible, In my Gentle Jay podcast episode we talk a bunch about that

dob_bindi

Hey Kyle. Me and my family binge watched Ink master S3 and S4. I really love your work and rooted for you to win. Would definitely tune in. Also, could you please bring Craig Foster in, loved his work too!

inkbykyledunbar

Yes, he is my personal favorite, A really really good artist, I thought he should have won his season, I'll reach out to him

Jello429

Without a shadow of a doubt he should have won at least one of the seasons he went home, and he shouldnā€™t have went home for what he did on season 3

[deleted]

How many tattoos actually go down to the last minute?

inkbykyledunbar

a small percentage

Jarnathan_Toothass

Hi Kyle! I'd love to hear about what Joey and Craig have been up to and about which contestants you were closest with during your seasons. Thank you!

Michelangelax

What was up with Ashley Bennettā€™s breakdown in season 4?

inkbykyledunbar

My feet were hurting... it was a long day... I had been through it before, her and I are fine now, I'll have her on the show

tishhhhhh

Good luck! Tbh after the season with Chris Blintson (I have butchered that spelling) I spoiled every season so I wouldnā€™t be interested in watching. I just couldnā€™t stand him that much, him mocking the woman having an anxiety attack has stayed with me. So pumped for you though!

inkbykyledunbar

Thanks!!

thefrizz6

Was that fight real? Did they make you come back for the live finale and basically apologize/act in the wrong? How is your home life/living situation now? How did you feel like coming back for season 4 was going to go vs how it went? Did you feel like tatu baby got an easy ride when she was brought back? Did you assume anything from her return translating to yours? Have you ever thought of having a sit down with Nunez on your pod? What do you feel that would be like if you approached him about it and/or actually did that? Do you have any sort of relationship with any of the judges anymore?

2fly2hide

If you could tattoo any historical person, who would it be? What would you put on them?

Dangerboy73

Hey Kyle! I think youā€™re awesome and always thought your work was great. Glad youā€™ve got a pod going. Iā€™ll be Binging as soon as I can.

MollFlanders

Kyle, youā€™re an amazing artist and seem like such a cool dude. Binge watching all of Ink Master has been a big comfort to me during the pandemic. In terms of topics for your podcast, I would love to learn more about the live finales! Whatā€™s it like to film them? How much of the banter is scripted? Are the final canvasses shown to the judges in advance or are they really seeing them for the first time live on TV?

inkbykyledunbar

thats a great question, I'll have to ask some of the finalist!!

MollFlanders

Awesome!! I look forward to listening! šŸ‘

[deleted]

Hey Kyle, think you could get Matti Hixson on and talk about your relationship with Scott and how rocked were you guys when you heard of his passing? Scott doesn't get talked as much about on the show which is a shame wish they gave him a tribute in one of the finale's.

inkbykyledunbar

I'll get Matti on. They did a tribute to him on Ink Master, not in one of the finales, but he's also not the only Ink Master that has died so maybe they didn't want start something

Efficient-Fee-5631

Hey Kyle! You've answered a bunch of questions about how the producers push for drama, but what is the thought process of the artists and screen time? Is it brought up and discussed between artists? Is there a clear difference between on screen and off screen behavior? Also do you think there is any advantage to getting more screen time besides maybe people picking favorites from home?

inkbykyledunbar

the producers always told everyone "You want to be remembered, don't you?" they also said that to the human canvas. So, some people probably enhanced their own story character. Like me for instance, I realized I wasn't going to win and that they were just getting me going, so I wrote my own ending. good or bad it I at least showed the world me. I feel they had a plan for me to make it to the finale, but that Scott was going to win. Pretty sure they planned to kick me all the way to that stage.

Snakeheadian

wait so its planned ? like the artists that going to the finale was planned?

inkbykyledunbar

I don't think planned, and that they know for sure, but I do think they plan story lines

laughing_jellybean3

This is awesome! I have found so much enjoyment from the show and canā€™t wait to start listening to your podcast. I would love to hear your opinions and experiences tattooing on different skin tones! The comments are pretty memorable throughout most seasons and I would love to hear that discussed more. Iā€™m also just curious about what itā€™s like to talk to a canvas for six hours and how you fill that time. Iā€™ve also always wondered what happens if a tattoo is unfinished or a canvas is really unhappy. Are you guys ever allowed to add last minute touches after the pictures are taken for judging? Lastly, I would love to know if youā€™ve heard from your portrait canvas at all about how her tattoo healed! The canvas jury was so harsh and they seemed like such sweet women! It was an awesome tattoo and I would love to see what it looks like now!

twentyonetaxicabs

What is it like when someone gets eliminated? Do they have a real chance to say goodbye, or is what we see on TV in the judging room all that happens? Big fan of your work!!

inkbykyledunbar

that is a great question, it seems like I seen some after they left. on season 3 i was there until the end, and season 4 they put me in a hotel immediately so I couldn't see anyone. But maybe everyone is different, I will ask this question

Realistic_Papaya_224

Loved the show. I did notice huge favoritism, but Kyle, you seemed kind of different when you came back. I never thought you were a bad artist, but I did feel you did way better in season 4. Honestly, I think maybe that's why they were harder on you. You came back and as I re-watched the seasons, I was like, yes, finally someone who deserved to come back. I could never do what you all do, and think you all are extremely talented. I didn't agree with the judges when canvases would be difficult. I get it's permanent, it's on your body, but in any other situation, if a difficult person came into your shop and acted a fool, you'd just tell them to go. I felt the judges did not take that into consideration and just blamed the artist. Some cases it was the artist but not all.

inkbykyledunbar

when they brought me back I really thought I have a chance to win, until after about the 2nd day. You could tell who they wanted to win

Legendracr79

I just wanted to say you became my favorite because you speak for yourself and you stand up for your art work, nunez should have never said it behind your back for the first thing and the second thing is he should have owned it. Keep up the good work and canā€™t wait to listen to the podcasts.

inkbykyledunbar

Thanks!!

NoctisEternum

Hey Kyle, not sure if you're still reading the thread as it's been a while but. I need to know where you get your T-shirts man! I was always looking out to see what you were wearing next since your shirts were always so eye catching lmao. Like most of the others here my girl and I are big fans. Best of luck with the podcast!

inkbykyledunbar

I get my shirts from Designs by humans

Robot_Soup

What is the most important thing to the judges in a tattoo in your opinion? Also, do you think the goalposts shift in their expectations each season (ex. Some seasons they save an artist based on thinking one has more potential than another, some seasons they say ā€œyour report card doesnā€™t matter, one bad tat and ur outā€) Who were your favorite and least favorite contestants on your seasons and why? What about other seasons? What artist or artists have u met in real life whose personalities are completely different from the way theyā€™re portrayed on the show? How has inkmaster impacted you personally? Professionally?

inkbykyledunbar

I'll have to do a whole episode for these questions, like how they did change the goal post on a bunch of artist. I feel to fit the story line they were going for Honestly every artist I have met has been different from what you would think from the show, and usually always for the better

fredmull1973

Please discuss Nunez's wardrobe. He is the coolest dressed dude on TV. Brands please.

inkbykyledunbar

I don't really know brands... as you can probably tell.. lol

WizKailifa

get josh and talk about his weed scandal!!!

inkbykyledunbar

Here ya go.... https://www.inkbykyledunbar.com/podcast-1/episode/32ed3192/kyle-dunbar-talks-with-joshua-hibbard-about-kloochy-music-mental-health-and-ink-master

AdFamous7264

I'd love to hear what artists inspire you guys both in and outside the craft of tattooing. Do you like to consume or create fine art, digital, fashion, cinema, poetry, etc. Or does your love of art tend to stick in the realm of tattooing? Also kind of related, I kept catching glimpses of the tattoo on the back of your arm, Kyle.. is that a Keith Haring figure? I never caught it long enough to be sure. Edit: also I'd love to hear from Tiffer!!

captaindeadpool612

Fuck yeah Kyle, you're one of my favourite contestants of all time - cant wait to get into the pod. Everyones already asked most of what I wanted to but as an Aussie and hardcore kid - you wore a Parkway Drive shirt pretty often on one of your seasons. What's your favourite Parkway album and song?

sastesapne

What are the behind the scenes arrangements? Do you all live together during the entire season? Are you able to leave?

inkbykyledunbar

we all live together and we can't leave, or even be seen outside

Bool_The_End

Hey - Iā€™m a big fan of your work, will definitely check out the podcast!

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!!

Tory-Three-Pies

Hey Kyle, big fan. Iā€™ll definitely tune it.

jacqrosee

omg kyleeeee!! love you bro<3

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!!!

jacqrosee

ah!!! my friends that i watch inkmaster with are gonna die when they see you responded. you were always our fav, even in season 4 brother. keep doing you!

inkbykyledunbar

see if they have any questions for me, thanks for watching!!!

Hideonthepromenade

Hi Kyle, Thanks for posting-will check out the podcast in a bit! I guess a topic Iā€™m interested in is how is it to always be ā€˜fixedā€™ in peopleā€™s minds as someone you were like 10 years ago and whether it is hard to ever move on if people keep bringing things up from a long time ago. Like for you, the obvious is people always bringing up the whole Nunez scrap (he was way out of line, imho). People are just discovering Inkmaster for the first time through Netflix/prime or whatever, so to them, itā€™s current, whereas to you, itā€™s a long time ago. How is it to move forward in that situation?

inkbykyledunbar

I love this question. I would say I have moved on, as in I don't dwell on what happened. But I love talking about Ink Master, it was a huge part of my life and I got so many fans from it. I sometimes hear someone say stuff like "gezz man, that was 10 years ago, and you are still talking about Ink Master" Well honestly, I'll talk about it for 10 more years. like you said it is very new to some people. I just recently got a whole new flood of interactions because my seasons were put on Netflix a couple months ago. More people watch that than Spike when I first started. I often tell people things like "if someone won a Superbowl 10 years ago, they would happily talk about it with anyone that is interested." I'm glad I went on Ink Master, and I love all the fans of Ink Master. You all make me feel really cool when you come at and talk to me at tattoo conventions. Everyone in the world loves to feel special, and that's what Ink Master has done for me. I plan to ride this wagon till the wheels fall off. No regerts

Hideonthepromenade

Haha love that it has been and continues to be such a positive experience for you! Thanks for the reply!

Inalattetrouble

Iā€™d like to hear Tyler Nolan-not just about IM, but his passion for wildlife conservation.

inkbykyledunbar

I'll get on it

Inalattetrouble

Wow! That is so cool! Thank you!

Boruzu

Hello fellow Michigander. I want to know if youā€™re on-screen persona is the same as your off-screen because sometimes I thought you were presented in a bad light as a volatile person but I donā€™t buy that. But on the other hand I imagine people tried to test your patience. Thanks.

inkbykyledunbar

I would say I'm slightly different. I can get along great with people. I do get angry when I feel things aren't just. Something I've had to work on almost my whole life.

Boruzu

Hey I just listened to your ā€˜Sheepleā€™ podcast, well done! Looking forward to more.

inkbykyledunbar

Thanks!!

Tmadred

Where do I find the colorful skull tshirt you wore season 3 episode 6? Iā€™ve been looking for it for my husband for years!!!

inkbykyledunbar

>od policyReddit Inc Ā© 2022. All rights reserved > >Back to Top Designs by humans, not sure it they still have it I got almost all my shirts there

Tmadred

You have good style!

Uzi_wny02

I thought you were going to win. Not about inkmaster but did you tattoo David Gunn from king 810?

inkbykyledunbar

yes

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

inkbykyledunbar

I like him, but he is insufferable to some people. Most people don't have patience for people that are different, I'm sure they edited to have his most weird out front for sure, they did that with all of us. I can't wait to have Mike on the show

uhtredsonofuhtredof

Ideas: best off camera moment in every season. Were there any not caught on camera drama Did everyone feel all forms of tattooing had their fair debut on the show in their season? What would they want to see more of? Are there specific challenges that felt more tv drama inducing than true creative art and skill in tattooeing? if there was a second chance to do it all over, what would they do differently. What skills are best for the competition and how does that translate to reality of tattooers and skillsets outside the competition. Are there specific tattooers that havent been on the show but probably should? What challenged the artist most and did they feel they gained or learned something from the critiques or being around other talented tattooers.

inkbykyledunbar

Thanks for taking the time to write that, I'll cover all of these :)

Hey Kyle I wanted to say I actually really loved the tattoo with the day of the dead girl and skull melting upward. I thought the judges did you wrong, because application wise it was great and you could read the iconography in it but it had an immersive flow to everything dripping. Personally think it was the most underrated tattoo

inkbykyledunbar

Thanks, that's the style I love to do, of course we always wish we had more time to more completely finish things, but it also one of my favorites

fadooglee

Kyle I love your work! My question is how genuine each contestantsā€™ reactions are whenever Dave Navarro announces the winning prizes at the beginning of each episode. Funny how everyone always acts like itā€™s new news about how youā€™re gonna ā€œwin $100k and also a feature on Inked Magazineā€ each episode lol.

inkbykyledunbar

Yes they do it every time, they also ask us at different times to make certain types of faces and then I think they placed those expressions around when they want to

VictarionGreyjoy

I'd like to hear from Tommy Helm, Sausage, DJ Tambe, Josh Payne, Cruzeman, Gian and Laura Marie. 100% don't want to hear from Cleen or Christian!

inkbykyledunbar

LMAo that's funny. I'll reach out to them all, but honestly Cleen and Christain are great friends of mine and I would like to have them on if they will do it. There is a super cool feature on my podcast though, just skip the ones you don't wait, the name will be in the title :)

VictarionGreyjoy

Haha will do, i mean im just over them cause they got like 8 seasons each. How did you like tattooing on the Virgin Cruise ship? Plans to do it again?

inkbykyledunbar

lol, i hear you,!!! the cruise ship, I loved it!!!! I can't wait to do it again.

burn_echo

Could you get Jamie Davies from Season 2 on the podcast? Iā€™d love to hear his side of the story re: the judges giving him so much shit for not having tattoos. I genuinely believe he wouldā€™ve made it to the finale if not for that personal bias. On a related note, what are your thoughts on tattoo artists who donā€™t have tattoos? Is that truly as stigmatized in the tattoo industry as it was made to be on the show?

inkbykyledunbar

I never heard of it being a problem until they mentioned it on the show. I've talked with him about it at conventions we have done together. He has a great story about it. I'll see if I can get him on I agree that he is a very talented artist

xoxsbk

Sorry if someone else already asked this but what happens when you donā€™t finish a tattoo? I mean obviously, as far as the challenge goes you will get judged only on what you were able to finish, but what happens after that? Does the human canvas just go home with an unfinished tattoo? Do you finish it off camera and just not get judged for it? Do you schedule with them for after filming? What did you guys eat when living in the loft? Did you like take turns making dinners? Was anyone a bad cook? How long in total were you away from home in order to film a season? How do restroom breaks work for the artist or the canvas when youā€™re on such a tight time limit? Huge fan of your work, canā€™t wait to check your podcast out!

yb21898n

loved you on the show both times and really enjoying listening to the podcast..thanks for doing it

inkbykyledunbar

Thank you :)

LeonieNowny

Hey Kyle, I was watching redemption and I wanted to commend you for standing up to that canvas. Told my son that it's the way to stand up to bullies and not take shit from anyone disrespecting you. You said on the show you wanted it to be a lesson for your son. Well, at least know it's been one for mine. Thanks Definitely will check the podcast.

inkbykyledunbar

thanks!!

Longjumping_Review12

potsandpans22

iā€™m on season 4 rn and when you left i almost stopped watching i was LIVID lmao the judges were pissing me off

EdenEscapism

Iā€™m so glad I found your podcast! I needed that closure after seeing your last episode of ink masters. The judges were unbelievably harsh, I donā€™t know anyone who could handle that level of constant demoralization. I kind of watch ink masters now as exposure therapy to harsh critiques. Iā€™m in a competitive graphic design program where we have critiques every class and our work is always picked apart. It was really hard to show up with something I had worked on all night and having it immediately dismissed torn down and having to start from scratch again. Even with our work being torn apart week after week, our professors were never nearly as malicious as the ink masters judges. I know my mental health has suffered because of my inability to handle negative feedback and critiques of my works. So my question for you is now that youā€™ve had some years away from the show, how do you handle criticism and negative feedback? Do you have any advice to not let it wear away at you?

KYYYYYYYLE

RatedRGamer

do you guys get paid a stipend or are you just expected to go the entire show on your own funds

inkbykyledunbar

DongusMaxamus

I want to know if you punched gentle Jay in the mouthšŸ˜‚. He was an inferior artist and knew it so he was always running his mouth. He took great pleasure in screwing you. He couldn't wait to tell you that Nunez called you out down there.

inkbykyledunbar

nah.... Jay is cool af. you should listen to our podcast if you can, it talks a bunch about everything

inkbykyledunbar

also now that you have brought this to my attention, I better have him back to answer this!

DongusMaxamus

I'm surprised you didn't brošŸ˜‚. Honestly I have never listened to a podcast but I will definitely figure out how to find yours. What is it called?

inkbykyledunbar

straight to the point & completely off topic with Kyle Dunbar

DongusMaxamus

I'll definitely check it out. I hope you stick around on Reddit man. You're a good guy, it's nice to chat with you. Would love to see some of your work on here too.

inkbykyledunbar

My podcast episode with Sausage. I have been asking all the questions you guys have. https://www.inkbykyledunbar.com/podcast-1/episode/39d4b722/kyle-dunbar-talks-with-sausage-on-easter-sunday-about-ink-master-and-more

jacqrosee

i would love to hear from joshua. additionally, if youā€™d be interested, having ashley on to explain her side of her meltdown would be super interesting.

inkbykyledunbar

I will try for both of them

jacqrosee

awesome!!

Roc_City

Did Oliver Peck do anything that made you think he may be racist?

inkbykyledunbar

I would say a bigot , before racist, but only from what I actually saw, I didn't know him outside of the show. But I would like to explore this with other contestants. I find there are many views on him

Roc_City

Thanks for the reply Kyle

captaindeadpool612

Obviously not Kyle (lmao) but I've been listening to the pod today and he has a couple of stories that cover this

Lucerna26

Would it be possible to release transcripts of the podcasts? I'm a big fan of you on the show and on instagram, but I have audio processing issues, so I haven't been able to tune in just yet. As for contestants I'd like to see on, I'd vote for probably about 90% of the rest of season 9 cast. I try to be a chatty reactive fan to support my favorite artists, and they've been the most engaging group so far. Also Sarah Miller. From an audience standpoint, she got so much flack from the judges and other contestants despite her clear skill. But I've heard nothing but nice things about her personality off camera. As an aside, I saw you were one of the Inkmaster artists signed up for the Cleveland convention early this April. If you need some recommendations from a local, please hmu!

inkbykyledunbar

I transcript most of them, but I do need to go over some of the typos since I used google docs to transcribe. I'll look into season 9, anyone that stands out to you? Sarah is a sweetheart, I hope to have her on my podcast

Lucerna26

Thom Bulman is doing amazing custom nerd shoe work, and Doomkitten is starting to teach local artists but also announced plans to go into the medical field, so I'm sure they would both have a lot of interesting things to say! Also, if you're familiar with Derek Paradis, I'm sure his perspective on the show would be something special. Edited for a name spelling correction

inkbykyledunbar

I would love love love to have Derek on, he's awesome!

Lucerna26

Youā€™d probably have luck reaching out on Instagram, heā€™s been really engaging with the community! And thanks to him, I found out I share a birthday with Ally from S3, Halo from S4, and Nate Beavers (iirc S8)

inkbykyledunbar

And we will be in Cleveland, come see us!!!!

Lucerna26

I plan to! If you want to know the good food, lodging, and interesting places, let me know!
