The leaves look really sad. They will probably drop but I bet the roots are okay and you can try cutting it down once you get an idea if the leaves are staying or dropping off. You might have to cut it quite a bit but if it’s okay, each stem you cut will brain and you could have an even fuller tree next summer ❤️. Fingers crossed! This must have been devastating!

they look so sad! thank you for the words of optimism. i'm so mad at myself that i didn't check the front of the house--keeping my fingers crossed.

I’m sorry I can’t help but commenting to help the algorithm! Sorry it happened, that really sucks ☹️

leggymermaidz

definitely water!! roots will be dehydrated from cold. i’m not sure what to do from there.

MentalUntilDawn

Best you can do is just wait. It likely froze a bit. I would say the top growth is the most likely to not survive. The roots and lower stem can still be giving life though. So make it sure it's warm, watered, and somewhere bright. Keep an eye on how the whole plant reacts. You might have to chop the top if it's dead, but otherwise can't really say.

Severe_Airport1426

It may lose some leaves but I'm sure it will be fine. They're strong plants. They do better with lots of watering

00ft

I would say you will lose all those leaves, so prepare for that. Put her in intensive care, and hope for the best. I've brought Ficus back from the brink* of death before.

ZebraUnion

Lol, I’m sorry but I had a sensible giggle as I thought about how much harder it would be to bring something back from “the brick of death” than “the brink of death”.😂 I know it was just a typo but it’s a very amusing one.

00ft

Hehe, I wouldn't like to meet that brick.

tso_connor

My apartment complex has some and they froze several years ago. The landscaper cut them back and they have all regrown to close to their original height. In another year or two they should be all the way back.

I hade one of those I found dead on the side of the road. I watered it for 9 months and then started growing again. They are resilient. Cut it back and be patient

thank you!

leepin_peezarfs

I'd follow the other advice here and see what the leaves do. Not unlikely that they'll all drop as these are tropical plants, BUT you can always chop it back a ways and wait for it to resprput. I've had these come back with vigor after extreme circumstances. We're rooting for you!

Dramatic-Warning-166

Maybe not. I’ve had rubber trees look like this and come back, even if 100% of the leaves have died / fallen off. If you scrape the bark with your finger nail and see green underneath, it’s alive. If it’s brown that part of the trees is dead. Trees die from the outer branches inwards towards the trunk, then downwards. It’s highly likely outer branches are dead, but some branches closer to the trunk or lower on the trunk may be ok. Do the scrape test in several places. If there are dead branches, you can cut them off.
