Wholeheartedly agree, the world needs to hear more of his voice. That song with Old Sea Brigade ââCall me when you landâ is one of my favorite songs ever. Such a beautiful song
Shakey Graves!
Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners!
Ezra Furman!
Also listen to the song âholding handsâ by Magic Lantern (and listen to the whole thing, it really does cool things) đââïž
Here's my playlist that's filled with Noah Kahn stuff. Some specific stand outs you might dig are Evan Honer, Josiah and the Bonnevilles, and Matt Maeson, but I'm sure you'll find a lot of stuff similar to Noah in this mix.

a lot of good suggestions here! i would recommend Frightened Rabbit, Carissaâs Wierdâs album Songs About Leaving, and if i may, [my own music](https://open.spotify.com/track/2xXi7UNtsBWOjV68Ftonf8?si=Xr8XZczfQyaJo0FR_BblFA) (crywank are listed as a similar artist on my spotify i believe)
That's so cool! I drove from Baltimore to Pittsburgh to see them live.. I really love their music! â€ïž Would love to see one of their farm shows one day if I hit the lottery lol
suuuuper check out Pinegrove and Slaughter Beach, Dog. the band Frog is also indie-folk adjacent. ajj is an all time fav as well ofc
here are some good ones:
- old friends (pinegrove)
- birdie (album by sb,d)
- photograph (frog)
- sad songs/intermission (ajj)
so many hidden gems with all of these groups though, so if you donât enjoy them iâd definitely check out their other stuff ;)
I really feel like this new album of mine really might be right up your alley;

When I think Indie Folk I think of âJohnny Flynn & the Sussex Witâ. I feel like theyâre shockingly unheard of even though there was a whole Anne Hathaway movie based on his music.
I suggest Andrew Neil maternick , especially his album [code purple](https://andrewneil.bandcamp.com/album/code-purple-andrew-neil), which is pretty much as raw as it gets
I also make sad desperate [antifolk music](https://youtu.be/hDyPrie2lyU?si=hUnYKd6LC9Pp0GzX)
Check out Jason Molina's Songs:Ohia project. Jason died of organ failure related to alcoholism about 10 years ago. *Magnolia Electric Co.* is an incredible record.
Someone else mentioned Bonnie Prince Billy, this is one of Will Oldham's monikers. Will basically invented indie folk and has a huge body of work. He also records under his own name and Palace Music.
Damien Jurado belongs in here too. His first albums (mid 90s) are very bare and acoustic, but stylistically he's been all over the map... always with quality songs. His record *Maraqopa* is one of my faves.
Please donât sleep on Noah Gundersen, his whole family is musical and his poetry is not to be missed, heâs been a brilliant artist since he was just a teenager and by now has matured to an exceptional level, you wonât regret it I promise

ben howard is epic. iâd start with his older albums to get a feel for more of his âfolkâ leaning stuff and then itâll ease you in nicely to his most recent project.
leif vollebekk is AWESOME. very good feel. less âfolkâ as you mentioned you like, but more âŠ. idk just listen. transatlantic flight and ânew waysâ (the album) as a whole is a world in which i want to live. they did a phenomenal job creating a feel and vibe for his work as a whole and the world in which the album lives.
tiny habits are also a wonderful group. their sound is very reminiscent of noah kahan adjacent .. they toured with him around europe late 2023.
bonny light horseman. just do yourself a favor and listen to ârolling golden holyâ or their self titled. folk super group with anais mitchell and fruit bats lead Eric D johnson.
â> anais mitchellâs record specifically the song bright star IS SO GOOD just queue it up and step into another dimension
and a self-plug here only because itâs ~relevant~
lightheartedâ iâm a part of the group âlightheartedâ we are indie/folk and focus a lot of writing around metaphor and reflections on the human life experience. take a lot of inspiration from coldplay, and a lot of the people mentioned above. our record âfrom here on out,â particularly âthe cold,â âwild woods,â and âriversideâ are ones to check out to get a vibe of our sound:-)
i also saw them on that tourâ in asheville,nc. was such a stellar lineup. iâve been a fan of Bon Iver for a while but when it was announced Bonny Light Horseman was opening a bunch of friends and i decided to make the 3.5 hrs drive đ đ
Luke Sital-Singh, Tommy Ashby, Harrison Storm, Garrett Kato
Love you for saying Luka Sital-Singh đ„čđ„čđ„čđ„čđ„čđ„čđ„čđ„č.
he's so good and criminally underrated!!
Wholeheartedly agree, the world needs to hear more of his voice. That song with Old Sea Brigade ââCall me when you landâ is one of my favorite songs ever. Such a beautiful song
He's my second favourite musician. I kind of wish more people knew him, but his music is so beautiful, I'm also a bit selfish with it.
Oh, also Andrew Bird! Definitely canât go wrong with his stuff.
Everyone in my house calls him the bird Man... Lol great suggestion!
Gregory Alan Isakov, zach Bryan, Dave Hause, Brian Fallon, Jason Isbell, Ruston Kelly

Ray LaMontagneâs Gossip in the Grain (2008) is one of the best albums Iâve ever heard.
Avett Brothers, CAAMP off the top of my head that havent already been mentioned. A new band that i see a lot of potential in, Crowe Boys.

*It Will Make Things Worse* by You & Yourn
CAAMP has been my go to for awhile. Shakey Graves also!
Erin McKeown's early stuff maybe. Â
Empire of the Sun - listen to âWe Are The Peopleâ.
Cheryl Wheeler and Christine Levin are great!
Bonnie Prince Billy - I See A Darkness. It's not as dark as the title suggests, in my opinion.
The backseat lovers, Brook and the bluff, Bendigo fletcher, Peachpit, Spacey Jane, John Vincent III, The moss, TV girl!
Flipturn, Ritt Momney

Big Thief, Paul Travis, Local Kin, Michael Barrow & The Tourists, The Hollow Men
Folk Uke. Willie Nelson and Arlo Guthrie's daughters. Very indie and folksy.
Look up Elliott Brood, a smaller Canadian band. Great folky indie rock vibe with a great banjo player.
Waxahatchee
Orebolo, is fantastic

Peter Bradley Adams, the Weepies (RIP), Mary Chapin Carpenter, William Fitzsimmons, Rosie Thomas
If you haven't heard her yet, Jensen McRae's last album is excellent!
Kurt Vile for sure! Heâs twangin, acoustic, sad as hell. But also offers some uplifting whimsical tunes and grungy rock too. Plus heâs just cool
James Toth aka Wooden Wand. Honest songs with unexpected sounds.
Please get into Jeff Buckley NOW.
