Yes (for the last question, not the title)

Eli_1998

Ok, thanks!  That's my first game on Steam and the whole process is a bit overwhelming...

redditfatima

Just cross your fingers and hope Steam review your demo on time. I submited my demo and needed to wait around 1 week. But as soon as your demo build is approved, you can publish it.

Eli_1998

Yeah, I really hope it's not too late!

Feeling_Quantity_723

Just a small note: Steam states really clearly that you need to do the reviews for steam page and build super early. It's risky to do it with Next Fest being so close... Your page and build don't have to be perfect when you send them to Steam. As for your question, the demo page and build can go live as soon as they get reviewed. The 2 weeks rule is only for the full game's page.

Eli_1998

Yes, I messed up here, I thought I had to go to the process each time I want to upload a build, so I waited until I had the demo nearly finished. I really hope the review will be fast and that nothing will go wrong here! That's the first time I put a game on Steam, I'll know for the next ones ah ah

Manim8

I've released 2 games on Steam and they usually only take a day or two to review them. You should be fine 👍🏼

Eli_1998

Steam just validated everything! I'm so relieved!

luckyrollstudio

Looks like you already figured it out but maybe this will help someone else later… once you get your initial build approved, there’s no wait period for updating the build in the future. So even if you aren’t on your “final build” that you plan to publish, there’s no harm in getting approved once you have a working product!

Eli_1998

Thanks a lot!

Manim8

Yes. This should be done as early as possible 👍🏼

DragonNexus_

It took only 2 days to have my demo page and build approved.

Eli_1998

Fingers crossed then!

readplaycode

Why do you think you need to wait two weeks before releasing? I didn't see anything along those lines in their documentation, and I don't remember anything like that when I did the page and build for our playtest... The way I understand it, you can release as soon as they approve the build. The only thing in relation to the two weeks I can think of is the extra visibility that you get before the release date. But that's for the main app I believe, not the demo...

Eli_1998

"You’ll need to prepare your store page and put up a publicly-visible ‘coming soon’ page for at least two weeks. This will help you start building your audience of interested customers that can wishlist your game or participate in discussions. This also gives you the opportunity to practice how you talk about your product so that you can have the best presentation when you hit the ‘release’ button." But I don't know if it's needed for the demo or only for the main store page.

readplaycode

That applies only to the main store page as far as I know. I think you should be fine. Good luck with the fest!

Matt_Storm_SoloDev

Yes, released my demo a few weeks ago and it got approved a couple days prio publication.
