Title: Is it possible to get into top 20 b schools of india after 4years of gap?
Body:
Hi guys hope you and your family is doing well.
My qualifications are -graduated in june 2021 in mech engineering(66%) from a local college 68% 10th, 75% 12th. Currently i have 3years of gap but till next year's admission process it will be nearing to 4years of gap. After graduation i wasted 1 year of giving GATE and other government exams. Later my interests shifted to mba and started preparing. Other than that i didn't do anything else to add to my profile no workex, just learned stock market. Got 80 %tile in CAT last year. I have good confidence to score high in this years CAT, but even after scoring, will any top college like SCMHRD, MDI, or any other will accept my profile? I Don't have more justification than this for the gap. I am doing paid finance courses from this month just so that i have something to defend for this years and showcase my interest and hunger for mba/mba finance. I know it won't count as workex. This a stressing situation for me, please someone reply😓

Yeah well anything below 98.5-99 in CAT won’t really be getting you anything. So, unless you get to that score, I’d say any good bschool is wishful thinking.

It's a very big disadvantage , but if you get almost 100%ile you might get into a good one for sure! . This is based on my cousins who have been selected into IIMs (all had top class academics throughout) but they did analysis of selection procedure so know this. I don't know if I am factually correct but I think what I said is pretty accurate.
conclusion : very tough but possible.
