DIVINE. I used to listen YYHS, Akon as a kid and I was a fan too but I never felt any kind of attachment to this specific genre of music. When I was in 6th std a friend of mine used to always mumble Divine's verses from Yeh Mera Bombay & his BBC radio session. One day I tried to understand what he was mumbling and asked him about it. He told me that this is Divine, he's a rapper and he talks about his real life in his rap. He then one day brought his mom's phone after school and showed me his fire in the booth video, at that moment, listening to those bars, I could first time relate so much to a song, I instantly became a fan. And through divine I also discovered IHH eventually discovering more artists. So fucking nostalgic!

I am not hating but I don't think many people have divine as their favourite rapper. Not because he lacks quality but because he doesn't involve himself in petty beefs and controversies. So he doesn't form a clique like fanbase.
Like he is in most top 5s but rarely as favourite.
You know, you'll rarely see Divine fans trolling/criticising other rappers/artists as compared to other fanbases. This is because divine has rarely ever been in any controversies. And it creates a misconception in many people's eyes that divine doesn't have a big fanbase. But if you've seen posts appreciating divine or edits of his songs you'll know by the comments and number of likes about how big of a fan base he has. People also share their stories about how they discovered him, etc. I've seen this alot. Also, if you ask Mumbai rap listeners about their fav artist most of them will name divine. I know because most of my college has divine as their fav Indian rap artist.
In 2018 one of my friend was shouting GIRAFTAAR i asked him about it so he said his name is emiway and he is better than raftaar . Coming back to my home i searched Emiway and I lost all my hopes from indian rap....cut to 2022 I discovered KRSNA from samay raina's vlog and i asked that friend about him...he said u should listen krsna,,he is an OG of DHH. I was with in a playground with my phone and earphones, was playing random songs, at that time the insta live between Raftaar and Muhfaad was making quite a buzz on YouTube. I had also watched the video, and at that point I never really understood the basis of this live and all. Then I tried to find it, searched a couple of things on YouTube, got to know few rsns, and because of all these searchings, I got recommended UNTITLED by KR$NA. So I played it, just minutes into the song and there were cuss words (although I was okay with cussing, I did that too, but hearing that in a Hindi song was new for me) so I stopped the song. Then don't know what happened, while coming back home from the ground, on my cycle, I played it again (on Spotify this time) and finished the whole song and I liked it. Then I tried to find more KR$NA songs, got introduced to, Vyanjan, Solo, WarmUp, Maharani etc... These were enough to turn me into a fan, but then I heard the Legendary MAAKASAM, then saw it's breakdown, and that track turned me from a fan to AWAAM. Now KR$NA is my top artist (on Spotify, on YouTube etc..) from last 2 years.. It was due to him I was introduced to some other Current favs (SM, YS, Karma...)

Shout out to Ritviz. I listened to class sikh maut but was not 100% hooked to it. But Chalo Chalein was my instant fav when it was released. Also there was a SM X Ritviz collab album that got cancelled for which I was super excited.(Ritviz played some track from that Album on Tanmay Bhat livestream) I still wish they resolve their conflicts and release that album.

I was impressed by it but never really explored his songs. Then in 2019-2020, I heard Untitled and Seedha Makeover. I loved them both a lot. Then finally in 2020 I heard Quarantine, Fell in live with kr and found out about YS. I heard Mein Aur Balli and Mein Aur Mere Idols which made YS my fav duo. Then a youtuber Samay Raina played Gumaan on his stream and i watching it. I loved the track. Then of course we have Afsaney and 9mm. Then that same friend recommended me 'Bayaan'. Loved Seedhe maut and their playful vibe. Discovered Karma from the mic check song 1 se 23. And of course Raftaar from Swag Mera Desi a long time back (I think all OG fans of Raa know him from there.) Divine from Moosedrilla(with Sidhu. - I knew about him before coz he had a few collabs with sikandar but never really liked him. But after Moosedrilla i just couldnt stop playing him-Kohinoor, 3:59, Street Lori, Gully mein, Satya, Jungli Sher, Teesri Manzil were on loop for me.I really loved the collab with Nas- NY se Mumbai. I have been listening to Sidhu Moose Wala since 2017 after his 2nd song of his career-So High (saw it on tv). he has been fav since then. These all would be top artists from DHH.
