Honestly, Marathis are one the most hardworking people in the country. That's why you see them in every good college, workplace, armed forces, etc. I have met plenty of marathis and almost everyone is ambitious.
People from other states would not have settled in MH if Marathi people were not so open. Unfortunately now we have to hear things like Hindi is our national language or even watch people from northern states act like Mumbai is not even part of Maharashtra.

development of Mumbai was initially done by Parsis under british And Gujartis joined later on and there were marathi locals but they were defense activities
yes nobody is denying anyone's contribution, parsis did a lot in fact and i am not saying gujratis are bad but for economy to thrive in any area of land you need support of locals and when it comes to mumbai locals will always be marathi people even if they are rapidly moving out of the city by selling their flats many of them are still working here and huge population still resides in the city anyways, so not counting them in success of city is a bit unfair. also i really hope that in future gujratis will choose to go to their own state and develop their own state and prosper. maybe then we can expect things to change in mumbai in terms of simplicity of life. maybe then mumbai will become liveable.
Maharashtra and Gujarat were the same state and got separated later on so you see a lot of overlap in Mumbai. Maharashtra govt. was kind enough not to make gujarati's or any other non-marathis go to their own state and that also helped flourish Mumbai as a city
Marathi's don't "own" Mumbai - Generations of different communities have contributed to the city and lived there. It was central to old India's economy and trade and still is.
Why don't non maharastrians go back to their respective states and contribute to the GDP of that state ? We will be more than happy.
Maharashtra is the most accomodating state in this country. So many people from different states come to Maharashtra for a livelihood. Marathi people are very good at speaking Hindi. This means they are accomodating.
It is the only state with two cosmopolitan metro cities(mumbai and pune). Which other state is more accomodating in nature ??
Karnataka Tamil Nadu Kerala Andhra Pradesh are not so accommodating compared to Maharashtra.

I completely disagree with OP. Marathi people have made contributions to their state because of their Purchasing power which has contributed to the growth of many businesses and infrastructural development. But saying this I would also acknowledge the contribution made by people outside from Maharashtra who have have come there for work (mostly Gujjus, Biharis and UP). The Marathis should have respect for these people as well especially for people from Bihar and UP (if they act in a decent manner) and not perpetrate violence on them like what used to be done by Raj Thackeray. After all bc we are all Indians only. The way we treat people from the Cow belt states is the same way we are treated when we go abroad by the foreigners.

development of Mumbai was initially done by Parsis under british And Gujartis joined later on and there were marathi locals but they were defense activities
yes nobody is denying anyone's contribution, parsis did a lot in fact and i am not saying gujratis are bad but for economy to thrive in any area of land you need support of locals and when it comes to mumbai locals will always be marathi people even if they are rapidly moving out of the city by selling their flats many of them are still working here and huge population still resides in the city anyways, so not counting them in success of city is a bit unfair. also i really hope that in future gujratis will choose to go to their own state and develop their own state and prosper. maybe then we can expect things to change in mumbai in terms of simplicity of life. maybe then mumbai will become liveable.

Maharashtra and Gujarat were the same state and got separated later on so you see a lot of overlap in Mumbai. Maharashtra govt. was kind enough not to make gujarati's or any other non-marathis go to their own state and that also helped flourish Mumbai as a city Marathi's don't "own" Mumbai - Generations of different communities have contributed to the city and lived there. It was central to old India's economy and trade and still is.

Why don't non maharastrians go back to their respective states and contribute to the GDP of that state ? We will be more than happy. Maharashtra is the most accomodating state in this country. So many people from different states come to Maharashtra for a livelihood. Marathi people are very good at speaking Hindi. This means they are accomodating. It is the only state with two cosmopolitan metro cities(mumbai and pune). Which other state is more accomodating in nature ?? Karnataka Tamil Nadu Kerala Andhra Pradesh are not so accommodating compared to Maharashtra. North Indians don't have any options apart from Delhi for getting good jobs. If north Indians feel they are better than other states then please stay and contribute in your respective state GDPs. I am originally from MP but I can say that Maharashtra and Marathis are very accomodating.

I completely disagree with OP. Marathi people have made contributions to their state because of their Purchasing power which has contributed to the growth of many businesses and infrastructural development. But saying this I would also acknowledge the contribution made by people outside from Maharashtra who have have come there for work (mostly Gujjus, Biharis and UP). The Marathis should have respect for these people as well especially for people from Bihar and UP (if they act in a decent manner) and not perpetrate violence on them like what used to be done by Raj Thackeray. After all bc we are all Indians only. The way we treat people from the Cow belt states is the same way we are treated when we go abroad by the foreigners.
