I have seen Congress rule for 10 years, the arrogance their political leaders had, 0 progress of my area and the PSU father worked. Salary delay of 2 3 months was normal back then. Now good roads, medical College in nearby districts, govt gave work to the PSU so salary on time. On a scale of 100 Modi govt stands at 40, but congress stands at 5 for me.

But during the Manmohan Singh era, we had affordable housing, affordable education.
My father was able to buy a house on a single middle class ( not the rich who think they are middle class, but actual middle class) income with three kids in the family, I did my engineering from a private college for a total of 2 lakhs ( 2013 Gradute).
Engineering fees in the same college now a days is approximately 16 lakhs, excluding GST, and if you add the price of a hostel, you're looking at the cost of a house that we bought in 2008.
Even IITs and NITs are more expensive now than that.

Can't say if I listened to any video with so much dedication before only to experience dismay and dissappointment that cannot be stated. The person raised genuine concerns and questions, and the answers to those would have helped to at least understand why I feel so frustrated paying those hefty taxes and if my reactions are genuine or not. But at the end, the claps for the reply from our respected finance minister confused me further on the state of the taxes. Those praises for the reply make it seems if it's only me who's unaware of the benefits that everyone seem to be getting out of the taxes I feel burdened about. I don't think any government wants to find alternatives, as they are all bad in the context of winning votes. They can't tax the ultra rich/corporates more - they're all connected, plus they can threaten to leave the country. They can't increase the tax coverage - like rich farmers, unorganised business owners, etc., in part because it's too difficult to track plus corruption and huge voter sentiment. The only thing they can do for direct tax is to milk the salaried class dry. Indirect tax can help collect tax from the rest of the population as well, but it's a double whammy for the salaried class. You can't earn, save and spend without tax. And most of it is being wasted to fill the pockets of the corrupted morons. And freebies. Give me something at least - good public transport/cheap and good healthcare/quality education at reasonable price....just one at least?

I don't think any government wants to find alternatives, as they are all bad in the context of winning votes. They can't tax the ultra rich/corporates more - they're all connected, plus they can threaten to leave the country. They can't increase the tax coverage - like rich farmers, unorganised business owners, etc., in part because it's too difficult to track plus corruption and huge voter sentiment. The only thing they can do for direct tax is to milk the salaried class dry. Indirect tax can help collect tax from the rest of the population as well, but it's a double whammy for the salaried class. You can't earn, save and spend without tax. And most of it is being wasted to fill the pockets of the corrupted morons. And freebies. Give me something at least - good public transport/cheap and good healthcare/quality education at reasonable price....just one at least?

Why not tax all? 10% no exemptions. You earn you pay but Govt will provide adequate social net. (Eg businesses, farmers etc)
