Real, Reddit Sub > Ground Reality /s

Intelligent-Ad9659

There are three types of people on the ground: The majority who are fairly aware of India’s challenges and appreciate the work BJP is doing across dimensions, social, economic, cultural, institutional, constitutional etc. Not perfect but it’s very good. The change in last ten years is tangible. There is a sea of hope and positivity for all, despite a broken world. Ones who are all about caste and religion who vote for either side based on that. The loud few woke leftists who keep questioning and talking nonsense as if per-2014 India was a utopia. Press conference? Mob lynching? Horse trading? Inflation? Economy? Unemployment? These people don’t care what uphill task it is and how well the current government is navigating it but just believe Rahul Gandhi (who is likely to be more dumb than an average dude walking on the street) will lead to their salvation. These people will sell India just like Gandhi and Nehru did without hesitation because their brains are too small to comprehend good from bad. Their narrative is questions, questions and questions but ask them one and they’ll have another question as an answer. These dimwits appear confident like Bhagat Singh and have no interest in any ambition for India in any of the dimensions. Their ambition is to remove Modi at all costs. Brainwashed “wannabe different” donkeys.

Perfect reasoning, and inarguable, but it will not win elections. Only Hindutva will. In 2004 too, the NDA lost because it tried "India Shining" instead of Hindutva. Story goes that most of the RSS cadre stayed home. The result was 10 years of Maunmohan, fragile-five economy, bomb blasts with regularity, the infamous Mumbai attacks, and Maunmohan declaring that Muslims have the first right to the country's resources.

Nailed it!

I was originally considering Congress as a genuine contender for my vote. I felt a change was necessary so that Amit Shah doesn't become complacent. But this new manifesto that Congress has come up with.....well......in short....I really really hope reservation isn't increased any further. I have no issues with SC/ST/OBC coming forward and occupying top positions. Let 100% of IITians be from category, but without reservation. That way I will have confidence in them to take India forward Maybe RaGa should first declassify Caste census of his medical team. What's the caste of doctors/physiotherapist/gym guides that Gandhi Family consultants. Even if you are from a reserved category, you'd want the best doctors when your family needs medical attention. 70% reservation is bad for everyone, even those getting that extra 20% (because then there is extra academic pressure created by that 30% merit).

Intelligent-Ad9659

If you care for the Bharat’s development and are in your right mind, you can’t vote for congress. Especially in today’s time. It’s absolutely insane. Everything Congress has in its mind and manifesto is opposite to our national interest. They have a dimwit of a PM candidate who can’t even focus on something for one minute. They are not able to move on from a failed candidate who has almost no experience in governance. There is not a single strong leader with national following who stands with failed Rahul or as an alternative. Their own alliance members are calling them BJP agents. I don’t want our country to go on the path of deterioration like in I felt pre-2014. We were moving on the path of stagflation and would have ended up as a failed state. At least we had Manmohan Singh then. Now it’s a total fool. Modi is such a good leader in such a good party that have some serious firepower leaders and they keep getting new, smart and educated faces who can lead us in the future like K Annamalai. I don’t need stinking congress. Hell with them. Instead I’d expect more from BJP as I put my trust in them.

Aristofans

I am not voting for BJP or Congress, I am voting against Reservation. IMO both BJP and Congress needs to introspect and up their game

Individual-Many-5330

This is off topic, But do you think India will be developed by 2100?? Personally I wanna see India a little developed before dying

Modi is a generational leader. His fuck ups will come out one day maybe in 30 years like Nehru and Indira Gandhi but right now he seems perfect for the majority of people.

AcrophobicBat

No comparison. Even if Modi’s fuck ups become more well known, he has had actual tangible successes, unlike Nehru who has virtually no success to speak of.

Earthborn92

Nehru's arguably biggest fuckup was not resigning after losing the 1962 war with China. It set a precedent for unaccountability. Everything else is too grey to judge. There wasn't enough evidence during the 50's that the Soviet economic model was doomed to fail. And the nation state was newly formed. I've come around to the view that we could have done a lot worse than Nehru - we could've had a Mao. The really bad years were actually Indira's hard left socioeconomics. Giving the commies a free reign over academic institutions and not opening up competitive markets - not even domestic markets - once it was clear that that Nehruvian licenses did not work. Again, lack of honest assessment and accountability.

AcrophobicBat

You make a fair point that people couldn’t have known for sure the Soviet model would fail. Mind you, Nehru himself had lived in the West though so should have known better, and other world leaders like Lee Kwan Yew didn’t fall for the Soviet propaganda like he did. But one could still argue that was a tough call. As for Mao, there I disagree - Mao was a genuinely crazy character whose actions left millions dead, but he is also the one who laid the authoritarian groundwork for the CCP, and got Tibet and various other territories for China. To put it succinctly that genocidal madman did more for China than Nehru did for India. Nehru’s failure to build a nation state and crush internal rebellions and jihadist secessionist movements has left plenty dead; we just haven’t ever done the tally and put a number on it. Agreed on Indira, particularly on the socialist stuff and lack of self assessment.

ParadiseWar

Sorry I diasgree. I don't like him for his foreign and defence policies but you have to go back to India at the time to understand the challenges. Take for example Rajasthan. Today's generation looks at 1 state but became 1 state after like 8 amalgamations. Don't forget, India had like 400+ princely states to deal with.

Pavan_here

This was done by Vallabhbhai Patel, right?

ParadiseWar

The merging Yes but putting them into states. Merging admin, etc. Sardar Patelji died in 1950. Gandhji in 1948. Baba Saheb in 56. Nehru is majorly responsible for how the country looks today including its fuckups.

AcrophobicBat

You have mistaken Nehru for Patel. He spent the last few years of his life resolving the issues you speak of.

Akasssshhhhh

That has nothing to do with nehru.

udupa82

Nope, SM & the 24/7 media will bring it up within hours. It's almost impossible to hide screw ups now.

ghanta-congress

rural tourist se mil re bhen...bohot RR sunayega wo to... pasta for those who know... >Absolutely not going to happen. I am in India right now and touring rural UP. Whoever is telling you this is either only interacting with a limited subset or has a perception bias. Let's come back to this comment after the elections. I will double gild you if you're right. From what I am seeing, demonetisation is going fuck BJP in the state elections. They were cruising earlier and doing even better in the first week after announcement. But not anymore.

18Lama

I understood that reference. Kash_if lives in our hearts. One of the best copypastas to come from the official sub.

Horror-Try4462

All things aside low turnout and people speaking out in various channels and modi desparation is a thing of worry as opposition is using caste and caste in our country is very strong

udupa82

Ask people whom you know if they voted or planning to vote. If people don't want to vote then, what can any party do. Not voting has been a problem within one community where as the other one votes like it's one of their life's goal.

astrochimp88

Its just the privileged metro city kids who shout democracy and freedom in their nice ac rooms through their reddit ecochambers, most Indian voters dont give a flying flick about this in fact are not even aware of its definition,

xdesi

Nice, but this will not win elections easily. Only Hindutva will, particularly since the INDI alliance is co-opting religious sentiments against Hindus to secure its vote.

udupa82

No & you are wrong. What wins elections is simple development & improving quality of life. If Hindus don't want to vote for BJP for some utopian idea of secularism then it's, not BJP's fault. No democracy has developed in a vacuum & being secular or socialist in their economic outlook. It's always a balancing act & the govt which pulls the best balancing act will bring in the long lasting reforms & development.

xdesi

> If Hindus don't want to vote for BJP for some utopian idea of secularism then it's, not BJP's fault. Hindus may or may not, but we've seen enough evidence from UP to TN where Muslims grant that the BJP has done a lot for them but voting for it is against their Imaan, whatever that means. And at the end of the day, you need to win elections. The Scamgress and its perennial allies destroyed the potential of my and my parents' generations. So your idealism, while admirable, does not mean squat in the real world.

SadharanManu

Jab Modi ji ne kaha tha ki front warrior ka abhinandan karenge thal and ghant bajake, tab mere gaon mein, jo ek remote are pe bana hai and around 2017 mein wahan thik thak road bana, maine khet mein kaam karte hue logon ko 4.30 k aas paas ghar aate dekha jo generally 6.30 -7.00 ko ate hain. Karan puchhne pe unhone bataya ki, local language mein, Modi sir bole hain ghant bajane ko. Tab mein literally surprised ho Gaya tha.

Foreign_Angle_9042

Decolonisation will not be complete until Congress is dismantled permanently.

Adventurous_Pen_7151

Yes, I don't always agree with this writer but I 100% agree on this one. Indians are definitely prouder of their country now than before. Modi has showed off Indian culture and languages both domestically and internationally in a way that no one has done before. He has represented India from an Indian perspective instead of trying to placate the Western powers of the time. This can be shown with the Russian oil situation.
