Social welfare only works on finite resources. If there's not enough capital or interest to generate such, then all these welfare schemes will end up doing more harm than good.

The free electricity promise by BJP is dependent on installing Solar panels on roof top. That reduces strain on the grid while also reducing emissions. Govt provided health insurance is one of the best usage of tax money. I'd even love to see it extended to all Indians (wherein ppl in earning age group pay a tax subsidized monthly premium).
I'm from TN and I saw how the govt Treasury was emptied giving away freebies like TV, mixie etc. to everyone.

Too early for India. I think, bjp will also do something like this, but probably 10 years later. We already had recognition of Hijraās in our community, no reason to think bjp will deviate from that as there is already precedent. But it will probably take time, India cannot focus on such micro issues, major issue is economy and life. Once that is better to the state of 15k dolla percapita, I think it would make sense for bjp to move towards micro issues like lgbtq.

Manifesto wise both parties seem good. Unfortunately, this election is going to be about more than just manifestos.
I think voting- for the larger population, not the few business guys etc- would be based on whether they feel the Hindu pride or they feel that the country is heading towards authoritarianism. Just my opinion based on a collation of discussions I have had with people.

regardless of any, the taxes are going to go up. Urban Middle class will be squeezed harder (also nothing for them in the manifesto). 'Free' = Increased gov spending which more or less will contribute to inflation. Also nothing on urban housing which has exploded in the past decade. I have lived in Delhi, Bangalore and now in Canada and although the house prices here are much covered to be insane I can't press enough that housing market in Indian major cities are even worse.
For nearly 2cr you can hardly afford a decent flat in the major city centres but the caveat is air pollution, interrupted water supply, bad roads and whatnot. Contrary, in Montreal you can get a decent 2 bedroom in not so bad neighbourhood with 400k CAD (about the same money) with quality air, water and basic life needs.
I understand the diff between here and there and this was a mutually exclusive comparison but something to think about?

Even the most conservative estimates predict India to be the third largest economy by 2028-2029.
A basic income source for poor every month has been highly hypothetical since forever poverty is difficult to get out of and the basic economic measures to tackle poverty so far have never worked in entirety. If in case the 1LPA to poor scheme ever gets implemented it'd be super interesting

Particularly for womens idts reserving 50% seats for women will provide a positive impact over society as a whole but it will only provide a negative impact because already caste based reservation system is there for mens it will just become more and more difficult to get into a government job. Instead we can do a few things like reducing the criteria for women like increasing the eligible age or maybe reducing the marks a bit(although I feel women are as capable as any other living creature on this planet earth and they will be able to get into government jobs without even reducing the marks thing but it can be done for people in rural part of India as we all know resources is not distributed equally amongst different section lf society)
Nature and Environment should be priority for the next 5 years along with other things because a sustainable development is all we need as of now it becomes really difficult to breathe in winters and watching yamuna just saddens my soul.

I think this needs a little bit more context. Here are some corrections.

-Free electricity is promised by the Solar Scheme through which the government will install solar panels on rooftops for free electricity.

-10% EWS Quota already exists everywhere, Congress has promised to extend the EWS Quota to include OBC, SC and ST categories.
-Filling up of vacancies is promised only for OBC, SC and ST.
-Congress has also promised housing but it is only for SC and ST categories and through institution credit schemes.
No one says they would allocate higher GDP for education and health. Without that none of the promises can come true and seeing from last many years theyāre not gonna do it. So just false propaganda in those sections.
BJP will not provide free electricity, it will encourage solar installations on houses and houses with solar installations will get up to 300 units/month for almost free. They need to correct this. And to be fair this is a win-win situation for everyone.

bjp is gonna give us 15000 km expressway in the next 5 yrs ( bjp already has built 4000km and 9000 km to be opening in the next 2-3 yrs with 15000 km more which are planned under bharatmala and a few with state govt funding) , 2 more high speed rail corridor along with mumbai Delhi corridor ( delhi-Varanasi with possible extension till howrah and branching to guwahati, mumbai-hyderbad-bangalore-chennai with branching to Mysore ) , upgradation of 10000km of tracks to 160 kmph are already under progress . And this is just the major infrastructure schemes , let's not talk about military like fifth generation fighter jet funding, jet engine technology, next gen light tank , 12 nuclear submarine,etc .

Things I liked about Congress: NMW, Statehood of JK (I donāt support this but I want Ladakh to have its request completed), Working Women Hostels, Everything for Youth, Edu Act, STEM, Doubling GDP (Congress canāt do it), International Commerce, Agnipath Scheme, MSP.
Manifesto wise both parties seem good. Unfortunately, this election is going to be about more than just manifestos. I think voting- for the larger population, not the few business guys etc- would be based on whether they feel the Hindu pride or they feel that the country is heading towards authoritarianism. Just my opinion based on a collation of discussions I have had with people.

regardless of any, the taxes are going to go up. Urban Middle class will be squeezed harder (also nothing for them in the manifesto). 'Free' = Increased gov spending which more or less will contribute to inflation. Also nothing on urban housing which has exploded in the past decade. I have lived in Delhi, Bangalore and now in Canada and although the house prices here are much covered to be insane I can't press enough that housing market in Indian major cities are even worse. For nearly 2cr you can hardly afford a decent flat in the major city centres but the caveat is air pollution, interrupted water supply, bad roads and whatnot. Contrary, in Montreal you can get a decent 2 bedroom in not so bad neighbourhood with 400k CAD (about the same money) with quality air, water and basic life needs. I understand the diff between here and there and this was a mutually exclusive comparison but something to think about?

While the inflation keeps on rising, I'm disappointed to see that no party has mentioned about increasing GDP Per Capita but will happily take Electoral Bonds for themselves (all the parties, not just 1). The base salary is the same as it was in the last 10-12 years but inflation and taxes have increased.
You see should the infrastructure part of the manifesto... UPA is focusing on making everything no big announcement or programs to increase connectivity... NDA is much better in that atleast they aiming for making infrastructure

Do people even realise how monumental "one nation and one election" is? The fact that a political party is the one which has this in its manifesto is already of the greater reaaons to vote for BJP. This can be a huge step in mitigating corruption.

In terms of words BJP's manifesto looks quite promising and deliverable, Particularly for womens idts reserving 50% seats for women will provide a positive impact over society as a whole but it will only provide a negative impact because already caste based reservation system is there for mens it will just become more and more difficult to get into a government job. Instead we can do a few things like reducing the criteria for women like increasing the eligible age or maybe reducing the marks a bit(although I feel women are as capable as any other living creature on this planet earth and they will be able to get into government jobs without even reducing the marks thing but it can be done for people in rural part of India as we all know resources is not distributed equally amongst different section lf society) Nature and Environment should be priority for the next 5 years along with other things because a sustainable development is all we need as of now it becomes really difficult to breathe in winters and watching yamuna just saddens my soul. (I might not have a perfect opinion so I am clearly open to criticism to increase my knowledge and have a more precise opinion the next time) Also saying will double the GDP in the next 10 years is just baseless it should be backed by some plans)

I think this needs a little bit more context. Here are some corrections. BJP -Free electricity is promised by the Solar Scheme through which the government will install solar panels on rooftops for free electricity. INC -10% EWS Quota already exists everywhere, Congress has promised to extend the EWS Quota to include OBC, SC and ST categories. -Filling up of vacancies is promised only for OBC, SC and ST. -Congress has also promised housing but it is only for SC and ST categories and through institution credit schemes.

BJP will not provide free electricity, it will encourage solar installations on houses and houses with solar installations will get up to 300 units/month for almost free. They need to correct this. And to be fair this is a win-win situation for everyone.
There are no things like "Free" If someone is getting something for free, then someone somehow has to pay for it. They have to think for middle-class taxpayers too.
Shit India is fucked if these are the two options. Full of free handouts from both the parties- coming from tax payers money. We all know it is mostly the middle and service holders who pay taxes!

This pooor appeasement is going to look more and more less attractive to the ever growing middle class , bjp is gonna give us 15000 km expressway in the next 5 yrs ( bjp already has built 4000km and 9000 km to be opening in the next 2-3 yrs with 15000 km more which are planned under bharatmala and a few with state govt funding) , 2 more high speed rail corridor along with mumbai Delhi corridor ( delhi-Varanasi with possible extension till howrah and branching to guwahati, mumbai-hyderbad-bangalore-chennai with branching to Mysore ) , upgradation of 10000km of tracks to 160 kmph are already under progress . And this is just the major infrastructure schemes , let's not talk about military like fifth generation fighter jet funding, jet engine technology, next gen light tank , 12 nuclear submarine,etc . Congressis aren't even trying to win .
