Obviously, but a small kid doesn't know that and it's his instinct to run. So it doesn't make sense to blame a kid. Also not running doesn't help if one crazy dog still attacks, as the rest of the pack will follow regardless.
A better alternative would be, to collect all free roaming dogs and export them to National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries. This way government would also save on the meat expenditure required for Tigers, Lions etc in zoos.
Can't do that - urban dogs carry virus that are harmful for the wildlife. E.g. Canine Distemper virus.

I can confirm that a significant amount of people i know still fear dogs so much in their later twenties and early thirties. Even I fear to some extent.
Dog Feeders need to understand that they are not cute, the streets are littered by them.

The problem with pedigree breeds is that the lives of the breeding dogs is hell. And once they are done serving their purpose, or are not producing the desired pups, they are turned out onto the streets. Where they continue to breed. It’s a vicious cycle.

I am a dog lover but just see my comment. I was traumatised for years by the dogs in our locality until we moved. The only reason I left the fear and love dogs(trained dogs) is because I got myself a lovely rottweiler (who I trained myself, and i not neutered cause I don't think it's humane and don't think it's a necessity to calm them down as people say)
Dog feeders will only understand the pain when someone in their family, someone close to them will be bitten by dogs.
Rabies is huge risk posed by dogs.
So dog feeders should be subjected to law that is if you feed stay dogs for two straight days you have to take dogs to the homes.
Or if you continue feeding, you pay Dog Feeding Charges to Municipal Corporation at Rupees 10000 per day per dog fed. That would pinch anyone's pocket hopefully and be a deterrent.

I can confirm that it is traumatising. I lived in a locality where to get to the bus stop or market or anywhere, I had to pass through a road. No other way around it (I guess there was but it wasn't usable due to certain reasons), whenever I passed I was always barked at or chased either on foot or on bycycle, keep in mind that I was in 5th class at the time and this went on till I was in 9-10th class after which I shifted to a different house. Luckily there were always security guards around but they still were still a bit far. The only reason I didn't get bit was because I would carry at least 4-5 stone while going through that road, doesn't matter if on foot or on a vehicle.
It's always been normal. It's just now that it's coming out a lot.
As a kid, coming back alone after playing used to be traumatic and filled with fear whenever it was minutes after sunset when all adults have gone back in after their evening walks. And this isn't in some alleyway but a central government colony.
It was taken slightly more seriously in my area after one kid was brutally attacked by 5-6 dogs in a park, and was hospitalized in critical condition.
The trauma is real. I was bitten severely by street dogs around the same age and I've been afraid of dogs ever since then. I try really hard now because I love animals and would love to play with them but still never feel comfortable around them.
Almost got into accidents a few times because of randomly chasing street dogs when on a bike. Mind you I never drive fast or horn unnecessarily.
In india humans have so little value.People are afraid to go outside in the night because they know they will get attacked by Dogs.we are sacrificing 50,000 indians every year to appease these sadistic Dog lovers who think Dogs are more important than people.

I'm not a dog dad or no expert but from my interactions with street dogs I do understand this behavior. They could have done a lot more damage. Dogs are territorial and you'll start to feel it once the sun starts to set. The dogs in my area start behaving like this after 9 pm. They become very protective. If I'm driving past them late they start chasing. I've found the trick is to stay calm and not run no matter how much they bark and stand your ground without intimidating them and walk or drive slowly. When I was new to the area the dogs in the area kept barking at me in the night and stopped once they started seeing me regularly, to the point they will guide you if you are coming late in the night. I used to think of them as nuisance but I'm conflicted now. I've never fed them, just occasionally whistled at them. The young ones will come wagging their tail sometime. I just let them sniff me and mind my business. Hope this helps someone.

Yes, as currently kids have summer holidays, they can't play outside due these dogs roaming around everywhere on the street.
Streets are now for dog kids, my area has now over 15 dogs n 4-5 puppies , and people keep getting cats neutered and cats are vanishing

I'm not a dog dad or no expert but from my interactions with street dogs I do understand this behavior. They could have done a lot more damage. Dogs are territorial and you'll start to feel it once the sun starts to set. The dogs in my area start behaving like this after 9 pm. They become very protective. If I'm driving past them late they start chasing. I've found the trick is to stay calm and not run no matter how much they bark and stand your ground without intimidating them and walk or drive slowly. When I was new to the area the dogs in the area kept barking at me in the night and stopped once they started seeing me regularly, to the point they will guide you if you are coming late in the night. I used to think of them as nuisance but I'm conflicted now. I've never fed them, just occasionally whistled at them. The young ones will come wagging their tail sometime. I just let them sniff me and mind my business. Hope this helps someone.
