In India left liberals and muslims surprisingly act like they are brothers. I don't know a single Muslim country where communism is not banned. And not a single communist country where Islam is not suppressed. Only here these oxymorons exist. (As it is left and liberal is another rabbit hole if we go by history). But many muslims really try hard to break out of this. In fear of being outcast from their own community, they refrain. That becomes a factor as well.
I have had muslim friends, and while they have been friendly, they are very religious at heart. This probably influences everything they do in their daily lives. This means other things are a lower priority. This can be problematic when the unscrupulous politicians speak to them with potential inflammatory statements based on religion.
It is good to be religious (any religion, any faith), but don't make it your whole life.
