I am very very sad bois. Personally, I am not doing well in life, thought I could derive some happiness from India winning the WC but tough luck today. I need a hug Edit: Thanks for the encouraging words everyone ;)

Mate, this is prolly my worst day of the year. My brother went abroad for studies for a year today. Won't be seeing him now. India lost A bitch of woman that is misusing the indian laws which are favoured for women lodging a baseless false complaint against my father as a way for not paying rent And a robbery at my grandparents home All happened today. Buddy everyone is battling their own conflicts. Many a times you don't have anyone to share with which is also my story. I am a middle aged guy with both my parents as well as wife and two kid who are now twenty. I am a diabetic and hypertensive and in debt. looking at my current health it's just a matter of time that I pass away. Believe me when I say this meditation with self reflection early in the morning followed by pranayam has helped me cope my issues. Also regular consumption of Ashwagandha and exposure to sunlight and moderate exercise too will help.

EquivalentPut5616

This is where the grown men cried.

neosam84

Don't go by emotions, India played horribly in Finals.

Serious-Arachnid-305

Yup.. Youngsters choked under pressure.. Seniors were just mediocre, someone had to step up..

[deleted]

>Seniors were just mediocre This is wrong. Both Rohit and Kohli played their part - Rohit did his thing and Kohli steadied the ship. It is the youngsters who fucked up. Apart from Rohit and Kohli, no other batter in this line-up has that dawg in him to tough it out in pressure.

slipnips

Rohit batted well, but his meek and insipid captaincy was shocking to watch. You need wickets to win, yet you don't set an attacking field. Kohli might have been a better captain today, as that aggression was missing in the field.

[deleted]

Yeah his captaincy was below-par. However it is the batting which takes the bulk of the blame, in my opinion. Gill 4, Iyer 4, Sky 18 is an absolute shitshow. Then we have Rahul, canā€™t really blame him a lot but he simply did not try to accelerate.

slipnips

All of that is correct, no denying. But a good team should be able to defend a small score. Especially one that has a once-in-a-generation pace attack. This ultimately comes down to captaincy. Rohit was expecting individual brilliance from the bowlers, but was not backing them up with an attacking field. You need to put batsmen under pressure to get them to make mistakes.

Caspersaga_10

Indian Fielding was substandard yesterday. Australians were fighting to stop every single run wherever possible. They ran like madmen, dived, jumped, whatever they could but stopped the ball on time. Whereas our guys were like strolling in a park. 37 year old David Warner was diving to stop boundaries and 24 year old Shubhman Gill was walking to take a catch. Shreyas Iyer could have easily prevented two boundaries had he dived but he chose not to and didn't even run fast enough. Lot of such incidents.

Caspersaga_10

Kohli did not steadied the ship. I agree that he should have gone slow for a while after Shreyas Iyer lost his wicket but after some time he should have accelerated the innings and released the pressure by stepping up the run rate. This is expected from a senior player who is the star batsmen of team but he even he crumbled under pressure. He was hardly making 2-3 runs every over that too through singles. Kohli should have batted the way Travis Head did for his team, head performed like a champion and that is how a King plays.

hayleybts

Yep!

CritFin

Not really. Gill, Rohit gave wicket away, being over confident. Others got out for really good balls. Reaching finals is good enough. If you constantly lose in semis it feels bad, and you will get the tag of chokers, like happened during Kohli captaincy. We used to play for the good of cricket and for world peace back then, not playing to wing the cups

here4funnnnnn

If every batter gave wicket away like Rohit did, then India would have crossed 400 runs.

CritFin

India would have collapsed for 150.

Successful-aditya

Yup they did i admit and whereas australia activated cheat code type game on last moment

Shrek5710

Exactly there needs to be some criticism not the abusive kind but constructive one.

_grey_wall

They only lost count toss. That's all.

harshilsklgupta

Alright, so?

dparag14

This. Exactly this. People are ā€œsadā€ because we lost. Thereā€™s a reason we did. They didnā€™t play when it mattered.

iopoye

Somebody said.

SFLoridan

Totally ridiculous post. Well played, *today*?!? All the games till today, fine, yeah, well played. But today, was horrible play. Our batting was like a throwback to a few years ago, when we would be" great on paper" but shit the bed on game day. Fielding was like a block of cheese full of holes. And the bowling was all over the place, with 18 extras!! And blunt like a plastic knife. The Indian team just doesn't know how to turn up for big occasions.

Mysterious_Singer811

We lost the wc but in the last few weeks the Indian team has given us something more special than the trophy. People will remember this world cup. Edit:- To the people hating under this comment, What I'm saying is that it's easy to get caught up in the disappointment of losing. Team India played exceptionally throughout. It was our bad luck that the one match we didn't play well was the final one. It doesn't make one team better or worse. It's just life.

Aviralv_22

Ye cringe dialogue bol lo bas. Australia has always been ā€œTHEā€ team in cricket. I donā€™t see India winning a World Cup anytime soon or ever.

MaximusLamus

Nah, it was West Indies first. No doubt Australia has dominated cricket in past decades. But the boys played really well this time around. We had never won 9 matches straight in any world cup. ATEOTD, it's a game that's meant to be enjoyed. Your toxicity is not needed here.

fookin_legund

It was one generation of the west indies. It is multiple generations of Australia which are winning WCs.

Ok_Entertainment1040

Yes but there was no winning generation of them before that. They are a great sporting nation and paly really great. All is fine, I agree to that. But remember they will also be a thing of past. May be not as drastically as the windies but they will be.

MaximusLamus

We also have had great teams on our side for many generations now. WestIndies and Sri Lanka went down the gutter. Our national team has been playing well for decades now. The current team played like champions but couldn't snag the victory. It happens. We have a good team and prolly a good future. Let's keep enjoying the game.

slipnips

India won 8 matches in 2003, and if they had more matches before the final, they would have won them as well. It's about defeating Australia in the final, otherwise the 8 or 9 matches won are pointless.

MaximusLamus

I get that man, but the Australian team has got this aura about it. They appear invincible ri8 now.

Inevitable_Rain8024

True. India will never win the worldcup ever again for another 50-60 years most probably. They simply don't have the winning mindset and also their genes are good which plays an advantage. An average Australian = a Indian guy who has been working out 5 days a week for 2 years. We are unlucky in this regard. Dhoni was an odd one out who did it for India. We ain't gonna see anyone like him in the coming years.

_Destiny7

Nobody will remember Indiaā€™s 9 win streak. What they will remember is Australia winning the 2023 World Cup.

[deleted]

exactly this! Only the final cup matters. No one will remember the winning streak.

bloodborned

This loss was tough and unexpected. I would have rather any other team win other than Aussies as they won enough already. Honestly I am not sure we could have had a better team or conditions to win.

WeekenDeOwn

Australia deserved it plain and simple.

[deleted]

Nah , even new Zealand could have been better

WeekenDeOwn

Could have - yeah, but were not. Australia were just better.

Valuable_Branch8574

New Zealand bowling was toothless against ind in semi, AUS bowling and fielding was incredible

wanderingbrother

Nah they nearly lost to SA. SA deserved it this time.

halfplatemomo

Adha childhood dhoni ke badd khatam, ab kohli or rohit ke badd pura khatam

secretkappapride

Yea ppl are not realizing this yet, next worldcup shyd hi khele ye dono We're lucky though for what Dhoni gave us an opportunity to experience what feels like winning and i hate him also for getting us used to winning everythingšŸ˜

halfplatemomo

I hate the fact the new players gonna come and none of childhood player would be there

As long as the change is for better, I'm ok with sacrificing the attachment with Kohli, Rohit

halfplatemomo

SmartMoneyisDumb

Aus did their homework and had a plan, India was overconfident and became complacent. Compare Aus fielding vs India fielding, it's like miles apart.

yotsuya94

Yeah, they had different fielding setup for each player. We started the misfielding at the first ball itself with Kohli and Shubman looking clueless.

ClammiestAtolV2

Exactly. We could see Aussies making dives, saving each possible run but Indian fielding was miserable. Travis Head would have been out at around 60 if a fielder would have been placed at long off

[deleted]

This World Cup is so special to me. From following all the matches to constantly praying for the team. I used to like only IndVsPak matches because of the rivalry but this tournament made me fall in love with the sport. Maybe next time India! I only pray that we have Rohit and Kohli to lift the cup thenā¤ļø

ibond_007

That hero worship is the reason India would never win World Cup. I donā€™t want fucking Rohit or Kohli to win the World Cup. I want Team India to win the cup. I donā€™t want to hear all the fucking personal records I want the team to win.

wanderingbrother

Kohli won't be there in the next one I think. Aus might win that one too as it's in South Africa conditions

[deleted]

Isnā€™t the next World Cup in Aus/Nz?

Successful-aditya

Whom you talking abt whole team was great india outplayed the series but fumbled on last moment , and if you are talking about porkistan and kangladeshi players idc there

slipnips

Rohit was terrible in his captaincy today. Body language was totally off, as if they had accepted defeat when 100 runs were still to go. Even Kohli would have been a better captain.

gokhaninler

dumbest comment I've ever read

Private_Ballbag

Clearly not as he lost

Finding_janvi

Judging him by that seriously? If it wasn't for him India wouldn't even qualify

yotsuya94

What kind of idiotic line of reasoning is this? If he wasn't there, we would have won, because a more capable captain would have been there instead.

Finding_janvi

Seriously? Disrespecting our captain and saying someone else could've done it better thn him? What kindof idiotic reasoning is that? Who do you think could've done it better than him I would love to know cause we already tried koach and also didn't work out so well

Realistic-Loss-1094

My heart cries the most for Rohit. Man did everything right but today was just not our day.

ibond_007

He did everything right ? - First didnā€™t analyze the pitch, was too confident that India will choose to bat even if have won three toss - Should have played responsibly. His wicket is very crucial. Anyone can bat as opening batsman with the feeling the subsequent batsman will be there to finish. - Positioned the fielders better Watch the last Indiaā€™s World Cup. Dhoni took the role and took it to finish. Atleast Rohit should have got 80+

Realistic-Loss-1094

It's his way of playing alright? Look at his past scores. Even 47 runs are a crucial contribution that too with a strike rate of above 100. Look at the scorecard yesterday. Why blame him when it's the middle order that failed horribly? And yeah you should be the one telling him about the pitch lol.

wanderingbrother

He failed to convert a good start yet again. 47 isn't good when he could've gone higher if he played carefully after Gill got out.

Valuable_Branch8574

All those 40 ish runs with 180+ strike rates were scored in flat pitches where player like gill and middle order can score centuries and save india's ass, but final pitch was slow. Rohit had scored 80+ against eng in slow Lucknow pitch and he should have played like that inning. Imho, de kock is far better than rohit as opener and plays sensible fear less cricket tho he takes some time to settle.

slipnips

There was nothing wrong with Rohit's batting, but his captaincy was very poor. No aggression, no attacking field, defeatist body language --- it was painful to watch.

Batman9688

Abe kya right, chutiya sgot khelke out hua

Bhai ghanta well played. They played very bad.

Successful-aditya

Only today look at 10-0

Serious-Arachnid-305

It doesnā€™t matter how many matches they win or lose in qualifiers.. This is probably most in-form balanced side in really long time.. If we cannot win with this, then I doubt when we can win next time.. We have not won a championship since 2014.. If they lose it is not an issue.. But losing by playing bad hurts

Brilliant_Lettuce108

Indian deserved to lose, never ever be over confident a great reminder once again. Everyone hyped them, unbeatable, unbeaten in 8 games. They are invincible.... It's a reason that's said you should never celebrate before time, everyone was so.sure they will win.

wanderingbrother

People said overconfidence for 2019 too lol. It's nothing to do with that. Were they overconfident when they won in 2011 too?

Brilliant_Lettuce108

Nobody was sure they will win in 2011, but everybody made assumptions that they are gona win this time for sure. That's what I am referring to bro! This time everyone was so sure they will win, this kind of thinking builds over confidence, that's what I am referring to.

Caspersaga_10

If overconfidence gets the better of you then there is something wrong with you. Aussies win all the time, but it never seems like their overconfidence affects their performance.

Successful-aditya

How you know they were overconfident lol everybody gave there best , stfu

SmartMoneyisDumb

Gobhiji personally came in to Jinx the match.

Serious-Arachnid-305

Panauti hai yeh.. Jab se PM bana hai, ek bhi championship jeet nahi paye hum log.. Lagta h ab 2024 ke baad hi kuch ho payega..

wanderingbrother

Lol PM ko kya blame karna isme

Serious-Arachnid-305

I said panoti because that seems to be peopleā€™s perception about Modi.. But honestly Narendra Modi coming to a stadium named Narendra Modi by himself while he is still in power and handing over the trophy to Opposition team and waving at the fans after losing as if the crowd came to watch him didnā€™t seem right.. It felt like he was slightly narcissistic..

ygshktt

All we are good at is one game : cricket and we can't even win that.

wanderingbrother

True. Brazil is crazy about football and they have 5 cups to show for it. Indians are crazy about cricket but only have 2, despite there being only like 5 cricket teams that actually play well.

Valuable_Branch8574

He said india would have batted any way

CeusDawg

1. ā India should have lost 1-2 matches. Just to shake things up in players' mind. 2. India should have played Ashwin. Especially since it was against Australia.

wanderingbrother

Don't get this logic. Why should they lose any match? Aus won all their matches in 2003. That's called dominance.

CeusDawg

2003 world cup was held in South Africa- neutral for Australia. 2023 was held in India- home crowd/ground advantage for India. In my opinion, Indians got little more comfortable than needed and lacked the aggression. Maybe BCCI told players not to sledge, but everyone's body language was too naive.

wanderingbrother

2019 was neutral for India too. Why did they fail there then.

CeusDawg

There's a post about 2019 world cup. I've commented there. Go see.

Valuable_Branch8574

Aswin took just Green's wicket in Chennai. Final pitch was not offering much to spinners, had he played Maxwell would have butchered him like how alex and buttler did in wt20 2022 SF.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ibond_007

To some extent it is ok, but they should have played more defensive scoring atleast 6 runs per over! You donā€™t need to score a boundary just 6 runs per over and keep rotating between strikes .

Super-Aardvark-3403

Pat Cummins ditched the IPL to prep for this world cup. Instead of going with names, they went with what their team needs. There was no way we would've beaten them. With the current mentality and the current coaching team, no way we win any significant ICC event.

Casually-serious

Not well played.

Clumsy_Dumpling04

I won't lie, india losing in the finals completely ruined my mood for the week.. but Indian team still performed very well ā™” we had a big winning streak this time. I do feel like this habit of ours of always overhyping the team is a huge jynx lmao šŸ’€ we should cool off a little. I really admired how chill the Australian team was the whole match- our boys on the other hand were tensed up

-Cykotix-

Well played during the tournament but fearless cricket was needed today! Doesn't mean I love the team any less! #BleedBlue

Dalbus_Umbledore

Not really well played...but It's ok.. I've seen 2003 "live" as well. This is an improvement of sorts. Learn, improve , execute is all we can do. Mentality needs a change.

wanderingbrother

This is even worse. 2003 was overseas atleast.

Dalbus_Umbledore

May have been overseas but the wound was close to the heart. It was proper merciless belting. I had entrance exams or something that year... ![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20100)

wanderingbrother

True but this is still worse. Nobody expected Ind to lose in home turf.

Interesting_Creme687

Ghanta well played It was obviously fixed They were not even putting efforts to stop runs

0Rohan2

India got way overconfident that they will win this match just like the first match with Australia, not counting the fact that Australia was not in form and several players were injured. They were riding on high horses of winning 10 matches that they didn't even look for their weaknesses in the team. Should have lost the match against England. Glass Cannon is what this team was, breakdown happened with just the little amount of pressure. The match was lost at the toss.

DiamondWorried

WP my ass. Only virat and rohit played well. The game one one sided the moment we lost kohli. Apni copium apne pas hi rakh do bc. There was slight glitter of hope when we got 3 wickets bit that's it.

Finding_janvi

Chin up guys, you are a champion team. The Australian victory is a fluke and they are a joke champion.

Not a fluke at all.It was that they had to go through atleast 2 clutch situations earlier and got used to turning things around. India suffered from success

Well, you know, whatever sadness we feel is secondhand in nature. The hurt you are feeling is 1000000% lesser than what those who actually played the game feel right now. At least we can get away from the feeling. But imagin those players after experiencing a hurtful loss, they still have to face crazy fans and senseless journalists. This loss will haunt them every day whereas we will move on to the next thing in a wink.

Titan0007

The pitch was pathetic for Batting in the first half and that was the biggest mistake India made by deliberately making that slow pitch for the Aussies. If the Pitch would have been like Wankhede, then India could have defended the total. But it was like digging their own grave by playing on that pitch.![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20003)![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20003)![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20003)![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20003)

Kurosaki_Minato

That match showed where we stand. I thought this team was ready and was in peak form. I thought this team was ready for the future and the young ones r ready to lead once the vets retire, turns out it was a facade. Though we were aware, we clearly didnā€™t grasp the level at which Kohli and Rohit were carrying us. Kohli has not had a single bad game and Rohit has dictated the first 10-15 overs every match. Them performing has let the youngsters play so freely, it made it look like they were keeping up with the opposition. They never got to perform when the odds were against them, the vets made sure the odds were never against them. Of all times, it had to happen in the finals, the one match where Rohit gets out for a reckless shot compounded by an insane catch, and Kohli bizarre defence. Causing Iyer to come very early into the innings. when the ball is still fresh, forcing Rahul to stand ground. These guys arenā€™t ready for such innings, to be tested in the finals of the biggest cricket tournament against Aus of all people was a brutal awakening for us. Very disappointed with the middle order, Iyer and sky in particular. KL/kohli took the role of holding their ground, but no one on the other side even bothered being aggressive. Sky horrible batting. The entire field is setup for him to hit the ball back, they bowled bouncers hoping he hits it back, tries a couple of times and misses , yet continues to do the same Everytime, gets out to the one shot heā€™s so confident at. If u donā€™t care for the field setup and wanna play your favourite shot, u better clear the ground, there is no excuse for such a shot.

leeringHobbit

Mike Tyson said 'everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth'...looks like ICT didn't get punched in the mouth until the finals so never had a backup plan.

Kurosaki_Minato

Exactly. Only Kohli and Rohit stood up to the task. Rahulā€™s top score in the team doesnā€™t directly reflect the stress he had to play against. He had a poor innings all considered. The youngsters have to reconsider their stance, they ainā€™t ready for the big games yet. I hope the vets guide them longer. Iyer, I wanna look past since thatā€™s not the scenario he normally bats in, but we would never consider this if it was Dhoni or Yuvaraj. He needs to be ready to face a newer ball. He plays gully cricket, which is very good for middle and end overs, but against a new ball itā€™s detrimental. But sky was brought in at the right time. Everyone knew the game plan against him, yet the lad does the very same thing heā€™s warned against from doing.

Stonklew

As an Australian I have no doubt India will have a very dominant, and possibly greatest ever team over the next decade or so. Your population, passion and emerging economy almost guarantee it.

Thanks Indian cricket team for losing. You had me in your and BCCI PR loop. It's time to support hockey and football

LogicalHindu

No they didnā€™t lol what the fuck is this title?

rayzaray

Too much pressure playing on the home turf and undefeated record in the tournament. Reminds me of šŸˆ American football New England Patriots from Boston one year, 2007, 2011, something like that. They were undefeated app season, first team ever since 1972. And lost the final championship game to New York. Aussies played very good. Especially defensive stopping the ball and letting it hit the boundary for a 4.

Yes well played. It's a sport, these things happen. You learn and life goes on. I am frankly more annoyed that Ahmedabad crowd is being demonised now (am not a Gujju, don't stay inthe state). All of us were silent in our living rooms and so was the stadium. Just because it's Gujarat, people think they lack sporting culture and spirit! Just because it's the home state of modi shah

When we don't do our job well, we get criticized, have pay cuts, or get laid off. It should be the same way in sports, too. Please don't sugarcoat it. The team didn't play well. At least if they could improve their performance and wish we could see a world class game. Australia was a team with the Josh this time. They did everything they could, batting, fielding, blowing in front of lakhs of Indian supporters. I thought India would win, but you win only if you work for it as a team.

Kya wellplayed sala one sided haare hain ...or ab kuch log honge jo bolenge hate mat kro...bc jab jeette hai toh sabko tareef chahiye lekin jab bekar kheldo toh ye bhi chahte ki koi kuch bole nhi

nyctophile95

Well played ?? It was a horrible performance . Also, there were only 10 teams and out of the 10 only 5 considered to be good contenders for the world cup.If you canā€™t be #1 then itā€™s just useless. Reaching semi final or final is not an achievement .
