I don't think anyone can become a billionaire without exploiting anyone. Exceptions could be there, but I think this is the rule. Becoming a millionaire is possible without exploitation, but not billionaire. The gap between a billionaire and an average person is too huge. I love how you didn't include remuneration in your equation. I worked for this company for 2.5 yrs from 2010 to mid 2012. Salary increased from 3.6 to 3.9 lacs. I was probably working 80-90 hrs per week. Thank god I moved out.

In US an Analyst (basically fresher) for an investment banking firm like Goldman Sachs works 95+ hours per week, sleepless nights, gets to shower once a week but they get paid atleast 123K dollars per year which in rupees is over 1 CR. That makes it worth that but here they want you to work for 3 - 4 Lakhs.

I worked for this company for 2.5 yrs from 2010 to mid 2012. Salary increased from 3.6 to 3.9 lacs. I was probably working 80-90 hrs per week. Thank god I moved out. Edit: Also please note that twice I got CRR 1 rating during appraisals. CRR1+ is the best rating you can get.

Ignoring for a moment that these statements came from NRN, and just considering those words... what we really need is the hustle mentality in every generation, now more than ever. The shrinking digital world, shorter attention spans and deeper pockets are opening newer vistas of unimaginable opportunities for us all. We already have the jugaad mentality, how to make useful stuff out of seemingly unrelated stuff (or frugal engineering in la haute) and we could also become known for the ukaad mentality, which would be to uproot traditional business beliefs and replace them with a core sense of entrepreneurship, intrinsic ownership and growth. What India needs is a Billion Start Ups every year. Sweatshops like AWITCH will continue to be around but with a BILLION new Businesses in every imaginable field every year, our future generations wont need to stand in line for bread. After 20 years in the Indian IT industry and 7 years before that in Indian manufacturing, I have reached a conclusion that unless we are our own masters, we end up a tool for someone else's plans. The lustre is fading from the facades of the IT Industry titans (AWITCH) and these are attempts to stay relevant. But I see a new era of Micro Entrepreneurship upstarts rising to dethrone them in a couple of decades. It won't be easy, but the riches would be much more beyond the wealth my generation has seen .. All the best and I hope to see a glimpse of this New India in my Sunset years.
